Petes rebuilt the transmission in my 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, I had intermittent problems with it which I took to them during the first year under warranty, they said they were unable to replicate the issue. A couple months after the warranty was up the transmission went out. I had to pay to have them rebuild the transmission again and the same exact thing happened just after 12 months. they were always polite but I am now paying for my 3rd transmission rebuild in 3 years. Had my transmission replaced in my 97 f250 7.3psd here 3 years ago and had problems with it from day one. Got it back with loose mounting bolts that I only discovered while trying to locate trans fluid leak. After bringing it back to them a number of times they refused to acknowledge it had shift issues and blamed it on the computer. Less than 80k miles later and it needs another complete rebuild on a trans that should have lasted closer to 200k miles. 0/10 do not recommend. read more

I had a transmission put in at Pete's and the driveshaft wasn't installed properly. Got a year warranty but it serves no purpose if you break down out of town. I called and talked with Pete asking if he would help pay for the U Joints that broke, he said there's nothing he could do and giggled at me. I'm out $275 and he could care less. I wouldn't recommend this shop to anyone. Also if n a side note they installed a battery for me and the bolts used weren't even made for a batter. just rigged up and both terminals were loose. had to buy new bolts. be very careful with this guy. read more

PLEASE READ FURTHER HAD TO UPDATE!! I had a great experience with Pete's and the Dodge 2500 drives so much better with the rebuilt transmission and transfer case. Their customer service is top notch and their mechanics know what they are doing. Thanks again for getting me back on the road! Update. The transfer case that they supposedly rebuilt was not done properly. The transfer case started to vibrate really bad turns out the output shaft was loose and the bearings it sat inside of started to wear the case. This was discovered by Arizona driveshaft after they opened the case up. Pete's transmission response is if you'd like a rebate of your 850 dollars bring the transfer case back. Granted this case is worth about 1-1.5k dollars as it sat before they ruined it with their "rebuild". The only way I can buy a rebuilt transfer case is with a core or you'll pay a 750 dollar core charge. So now I'm without a drive able vehicle until December because I can't afford to buy a transfer case with out a core. DONT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY HERE! If you get burned you'll be on your own. Pete was extremely rude to me on the phone and questioned how he'll know if this is even the transfer case he rebuilt. I assured him that I have photo evidence of my transfer case date stamped with serial numbers before Pete's ever got their hands on it(it's now sitting in boxes at his shop). Rewind six months when this all started because my transmission broke I trusted Pete's and I knew my manual 271d transfer case needed rebuilt because it was going into neutral as you drove down the road. I tell them I'd like it rebuilt because of this major issue. They pull it out and say the transfer case is all good nothing wrong. They complete the tranny rebuild and get the truck back and the very next day the transfer case pops into neutral when driving. At this point I'm a bit frustrated because now I'm with out a truck again and need to get the case rebuilt. So I take it back to Pete's and they "rebuild" the transfer case for a price of 850 dollars. Then it fails and I was offered my angry deal from Pete the owner to bring the case back if I want my money back. Well Pete if I'm not mistaken I didn't buy a transfer case from you I bought a rebuild kit....so how is this fair to the customer to require them to give you a part of their vehicle to receive a refund for an expensive piece of the vehicle that YOU DAMAGED??!?!?!? When all you did was bearings and seals maybe 200 dollars in parts!! This is totally wrong and as a business owner I hope you're willing to correct the problems you've caused me and my family. I will share with anyone I can to avoid your shop because of the treatment and poor quality of work I have received. Take your truck to FSR if you need a HD diesel transmission done. Do not use this shop unless you're ok with giving your money away, lots of down time on your vehicle and one big headache. To Pete's response this is untrue that I was happy with the resolution I'm still out almost 500 dollars from other shops diagnosing problems that you created. I'm not sure that Erika even had this transfer case rebuilt because I was told multiple times it would be done in house even though you have told me that your not capable of rebuilding a 271d in house. This was also not outside of SAID warranty I have phone records of calls to your company before the 10 days outside of the BS 6 month warranty you placed on something that you ruined. Then to tell me that the only way I'll get any money is to bring you the Transfer case back which wasn't your transfer case to begin with I gave you permission to rebuild it not destroy it and then take it from me only to I'm sure rebuild it and sell to another unsuspecting customer. You can spin you side of the story however you like. However I've kept detailed records on all calls and issues I've had with your shop since day one. Just a few days ago my transmission started slipping a bit. Then on the 101 it started making some very nasty growling noises. Got into a parking lot and every gear acted like neutral; my transmission was TOAST! My 1995 Ford E350 had shifting issues suddenly and without warning. Having bought the van nearly new, I had experienced these symptoms a decade ago. Additionally, my wife and I asked Pete's transmission to check the last three-speed tranny Ford made (C6) a few years ago as we'd moved from Indiana to Surprise, AZ for safeties sake. Pete told me the transmission had been well maintained and operated like it should on a test drive. I considered both experiences. Like a fool, I asked the local Big O Tire store if they could install a vacuum modulator (convenient distance-wise). This external transmission component I found all three possibilities at NAPA for $24 (still, I was guessing). After our van sat the fourth day at Big O's, with no return phone calls - day four, a call came to tell me they couldn't work on my van as they couldn't or wouldn't borrow the correct scanner from any auto parts store. The ONE transmission shop I know is trustworthy, Pete's Transmission, I called and Pete said to get the van down there. The next morning, one of Pete's guys called to tell me the van is ready! He told me it was the vacuum modulator! Pete went the extra mile to wait for the flatbed tow-truck to arrive (late) so to park in a safe place! You best go to Pete's Transmission as a franchise tranny shop WILL CLEAN YOUR PLOW; notorious for scamming people. read more

i bought a unit from them. turns out "" i broke it"" when i take my truck in. they give me poor customer service. rude and unprofessional behavior from pete and his daughter. . their mechanics were telling me their crazy and want more money... originally they said well fix it with the warranty.. then i got called back they daid i broke it and we agreed on $400 for labor to repair it. couple hours later they call me saying my flywheel broke the transmission that they were going to put a smaller transmission (adapt) on my truck. claiming i had wrong unit this whole time. asking for more money and saying they can find the right flywheel for my pick up.and will just charge me for it.. so i went down there and pete n his daughter. were being azzho13s and charged me $550 for labor. because their transmissions come with 1yr warranty none of the parts where paid for just warrantied out for new ones but since i didnt let them adapt the small transmission on. pete got all mad and his daughter was telling me to take the broken transmission as is and tow my truck tf out of there. i was like excuse me but when you tow your vehicle to any shop. is to get it fixed not to deal with unprofessionals money hungry mfs. the unit i got had messed up harness inside and im sure they left it as is just replaced the case i broke.. i hope transmission holds for a year or longer. their helper ralph apologized for pete and his daughter behavior when i went to pick up my truck. . but still doesnt justify the bad experience i received when i just needed my truck fixed. not asking nothing for free paid $900 for unit plus $550 for labor. they have alot of business to treat people how they did to me. i see more good than bad reviews but the bad ones are bad. read more

I caint understand why this place has such positive reviews, then realized that it must have been for people who REALLY needed a transmission rebuild. I am a single mom, who has a limited income and after reading the positive reviews about petes transmissions, i decided to put my trust in these people.. BIG MISTAKE.I brought my chevy cobalt in after talking to the owners wife, the owner was very nice or welcoming so i talked to his wife instead, on the phone about how my car engine light is on and is throwing two transmission codes at me. Without even looking at the car she told me it's going to be $1650 to rebuild my 2010 chevy cobalt transmission and will take 3 to 4 days at maximum to rebuild, I was impressed that she could already give me this information. So I take the car into drop it off on teusday morning and go home, then I call back later that day and ask how it's going, she said it's doing good and she assures me that the mechanics are working on the car and to call back the next morning and that the mechanic will let me know what was going on with it. Two more days go by and i give the transmission shop a car to ask how my cobalt was doing, a mechanic answers the phone and informs me that the car hasn't been looked at yet because they are still working on other cars, I explained to him my frustration that the owners wife told me it would only take 3 to 4 business days and i explained to the mechanic that I've been missing days of work... my mom called the owner to figure out what was going on and he said "you know what, I have 40 other cars to work on, just come over and pick up your cobalt im not going to work on it anymore." (Which they never even worked on to begin with. The problem wasn't hoe long it was going to take, the problem was that they gave me a time and a price at which the car would be done and ready, which is unprofessional as you caint quote someone a time and price just to get them in the door, that is bad business and demonstrates bad communication skills, and as far as the owner goes, he needs to brush up on his social skills because he is very rude and doesn't communicate what is wrong with the vehicle... I picked up my vehicle and too it to Tony's 5 Star Transmissions and they told me that the always have to repair whatever petes transmissions does and I'm not the first to complain about petes transmissions. It turns out that my problem was electrical and petes was trying to sell me a transmission rebuild I didn't even need, same this happened to the other 1 star review on this site,. I took my '95 Ford F150 4x4 in for a replacement of the front transmission seal. I dropped it off when they opened on Monday Morning and the Mexican American gentleman told me that they had a free rack and they would get it on the rack right away. He said they would call when they were finished. This was an in and out R&R with now major issues with the tranny. The truck had only 81,000 miles and was shifting flawlessly. When I hadn't heard from them by 4 PM on Tuesday I called and Ericka told me that they were just putting it on the rack and it would be finished on Wednesday. No call on Wednesday by 3 so I called again only to be told by Ericka that it was just going up on the rack. On Thursday morning, I drove back to the shop on west Polk (I live in Tempe) and the truck was sitting in middle of the shop, pretty much where I had seen it the day I dropped it off. I went in and talked to Ericka who told me it was gong up on the rack immediately. I saw that the truck had been moved while we were talking and someone was getting the rack ready for it. I waited until I actually saw it on the rack before I left. The work was completed that day. I don't mind the wait, I mind getting jerked around. All in all, Pete seemed like a decent guy, the truck was done very professionally, the tranny worked great and the price was right. They also replaced the rear main seal while the tranny was out. I would highly recommend them. The shop doesn't look like much but they are knowledgeable and always courteous. I would do business with them again even though the drive for me is significant. I owned and operated my own transmission repair shop in Tucson for a number of years and realize the problems that can occur. read more

At first I thought that the needed repair was related to an insurance claim from a few months back. Had a lot of work done on my 1996 Bronco at Petes. Transfer case rebuilt 3 times to get it right and 2 times on the transmission. Just picked it up today, not just a quick drive as I live in Williams, Az. The clown that I had to deal with was named Clyde, rude, unprofessional and doesn't give a shit about the customers. I brought my truck home but the transmission still isn't right and I don't expect it to last very long, my warranty ran out on 4-28-17 so I guess i'm shit out of luck when it breaks again. Quoted a price over the phone and no hidden fees. The other transmission place I went to said they would have to actually take my tranny off to give me an accurate quote. They quoted 2000-3000$ which is a big gap. It was 1150 out the door here at Petes It was the holiday and they still had it done in 2 business days. I found myself needing a new transmission in my 2002 GMC Envoy two weeks before Christmas. I called Pete's and their price was so much lower than other places that I decided it was worth the drive from Mesa. When I called back to let them know I was coming, the transmission they had for me was already sold. Erika had one put together for me. She told me it would be ready at 8. When I showed up at 8, I walked into an office full of random pictures and art. Pete wrote up my paperwork while someone else loaded up the part. The price was exactly what I was told on the phone. The actual rebuilds are a bunch of old dudes that just look like the guys you would want doin your rebuild. "Seasoned professionals" My re-install was kinda hacked. I had to finish it myself. I just assumed the car was older than the mechanic. (term used loosely) Wasn't a big deal, just a few hook ups under the hood.
