5-Star Review Deserved. Read On! Let's start with taking my Crosstrek to the Subaru service department. They suggested many repairs totaling $16,000. No! I do realize that the dealership service department charges more. However, the deceitful aspect is that many of those repairs they suggested, I knew, were not needed. Lies! After a quick conversation with the management at this location, we brought the car in to have the transmission looked at. After the initial inspection, the manager told me they would need to do a teardown to determine whether the transmission could be repaired by replacing parts or whether it would need to be replaced with a certified, warranty-backed rebuilt transmission. At that point, I showed the manager my paperwork from Subaru and asked if any of those items needed to be replaced. He immediately said, "No, those do not need to be replaced." That is the entire point of this review. He could have said yes. He could have pointed out things before I even handed him the paperwork from Subaru. He did not. He stuck to the issue that I already knew was the problem. Five-star review! We are now two months into the transmission replacement, and the car runs better than it did before. The price we paid for the replacement was excellent. Because of the honesty, integrity, and quality of the work, I would recommend anyone come to this location and trust this manager and his crew. They have earned my business for the rest of my life for any repairs they can perform on the cars I own. Mike, is knowledgeable, honest and kept his word through the entire process. I made an appointment for 10 a.m., like they told me. It's been over three hours, and they still haven't even pulled my car in to look at it. This is beyond ridiculous. What's the point of setting an appointment if they're just going to completely ignore it? This place is seriously unprofessional. I really appreciate the honest and detailed diagnosis I received from Mike. Based on what I was told at a different shop, I took my car to AAMCO thinking that I needed new brake pads. Mike took his time inspecting my car and it turned out my brake pads were perfectly fine. He showed me pictures and explained to me when brake pads should be replaced. Arizona really needs to have a bureau of automotive repair to regulate and investigate place like this and the liars and scammers that work there (Scott). Horrible place, took 3 weeks total to put a transmission in after telling me it would only be 1 week then when my warranty company covered everything they made my pay 1100$ for labor that was also covered by my warranty company. I called to inform them and Scott the owner starts yelling at me that he doesn't make enough to deal with this and he would find out what's going on and call me back. Never heard from him. These guys are rude crooks take your money elsewhere, there a good reason why they only have 2.5 stars on Yelp! read more

A+++ This is the best car repair service I have ever had. I had gone to dealerships and other places to find out why my engine light was on, no one wanted to tell me why without charging me over $150 just to tell me what was wrong, and never offered financial options. Aamco did it right ... The manager Josh got me in right away and didn't charge me to tell me what was wrong with my car. He got me financing for the repairs which allowed me to get my vehicle fixed right away. This is a no bull, no jerking you around facility. They are honest, and excellent service. You want to know what's wrong with your vehicle take it to them they will tell you exactly what's going on under the hood. I'm going back for all my vehicle issues. read more

Comically overpriced, bath faith assessments, awful service and a total rip off. I took my car in because the 'maintenance required' light was flashing. A man named Scott said that, after looking into it, they would need to do a further diagnostic that would cost $180, which I agreed to. I didn't hear from them at all the following day, had to call numerous times to get an update; and was finally told that other than needing an oil change, they couldn't find anything wrong. It turns out that they knew from the beginning that all that was needed was an oil change, but didn't mention anything about it, and charged me $180 to literally do nothing - then wanted an additional $90 to keep the car over the weekend and do an oil change. In addition to not telling me that I needed an oil change (until I called 5 times on a Friday afternoon, trying to get my car before the weekend) - they also didn't feel the need to let me know that my car was ready for pick up and that they were closed over the weekend. So, had I not called over and over and asked to come get it, I would have been without a car for the entire weekend in *addition* to getting screwed out of $180. read more

So. I let my truck battery run down. I charged it, took it to AAMCO for a new battery. They insisted on doing a bunch of tests to make sure it was just a battery. It was. They wanted 400 to put in a new battery, I said no, asked them to put my old battery back, start my truck and send me on my way to AutoZone. They hooked my truck up and couldn't get it started...fussed with it for an hour, tore up my dash for another few hours. Out of desperation, I finally made a deal with them to go ahead and put in a new battery for 300, just so they would stop screwing up my truck and destroying the starter. They put in a new battery and the truck would start, but not stay running. After several more hours, they tell me that my driving the truck on such a low battery destroyed the body control module. They wanted 1500.00 to put in a new module. I paid them for the new battery, had them put the old battery and all the pieces they tore up onto the passenger seat of my truck and I had my truck towed out of there. Sun Devil Auto put it back together, found a fuse that was out and got my truck running for 115.00. AAMCO mechanics are incompetent thieves. Buyer beware. read more

I own a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta Sport. The dealership wanted almost $400 to replace my transmission fluid and to replace a single daytime running light. AAMCO replaced them transmission fluid on my sealed transmission for about half the cost and replaced the stupid running light for free. The front desk manager was very polite and their shop took very little time to complete a inspection/service. Great job. read more

I was disappointed and let-down by the customer service, and the workmanship that this shop displayed. I came in to have my AC repaired and was taken back by the impersonal owners rapport and his over priced estimate of $1200 to have my AC on my 2003 Honda Accord repaired. After negotiating with them a bit I was able to get the price lowered to a slightly more reasonable rate. However, during the repair they broke another part of my car and treated it as if it were no big deal. The shop had to keep my car for additional two days, and put finding a rental car on me. After deciding to essentially hitchhike to get to a business conference I had scheduled during the additional time they had my car, I decided to request that I be compensated for the inconvenience instead of actually spending the time and money upfront to get a rental car. Of course, the shop didn't offer any compensation and actually increased the cost of the negotiated repair due to "unforeseen expenses" and did so in a condescending manner. After discussing my side with them fruitlessly, I was so relieved to have reclaimed my car with the fixed air conditioning system that costed over $1000 to repair, only to have it stop working within two weeks. When I took my car back into to have them make good on the satisfactory work guarantee - they claimed something else had caused the AC to stop working and quoted me at another $700 repair cost. I must urge anybody considering using this AAMCO to find another shop that values its customers and workmanship so that you get what you pay for and are treated with the respect you deserve as a customer. read more

I was concerned when reading the reviews but rest assured this is a fantastic AAMCO location. I saved so much money by coming here first. My Fiancé's car was acting strangely and I couldn't find the problem. The team here helped me find the problem and figure out the best way to handle it. Trust AAMCO! Mike was extremely friendly and honest he helped me through the whole process and went above and beyond to make sure I got the best service at the most affordable prices. Jay is a wizard when it comes to car repair he knew right away that our suspicions were correct and jumped on diagnosing the issue. I loved this place. I have only been to one other auto shop here in AZ and this place really impressed me. The owner Corey is extremely personable, knowledgable, and went out of his way to help m out with my beater car this morning. I scheduled a maintenance oil change this morning but also mentioned to him that I'd been having some problems with my brakes. I told him depending on the price I wasn't sure what I would be able to pay for today. He assured me he could help me out in anyway possible even if financing was involved. Not my favorite thing to do BUT I know I needed at least one new set of brakes, brake pads, and a roader for the front passenger side of my car. He gave me a great deal. With my oil change and brake/brake pad and roader change it was $231 after tax. That is the cheapest quote I've received from anywhere else so I gladly paid it in full. I don't plan on keeping my current car too much longer and I also plan on trading it in. He told me when I plan on trading it in to bring it into him and he can help me come up with a budget to fix it up first. I dropped my car off at 830 and it was done a little before 1030am. Took my car here for A/C which they couldn't complete the service. It was outsourced to add frion. Was charged $800 to have the system recharged in July. Was told there where no leaks and the system was refilled. Told it would last for up to 7 years. Take my car in last week due to no cold air and I'm told my car is empty on frion. They keep my car over night and can't find 1 leak. Call today to follow up to be told the service would have to be done all over again. They'll only charge me $600 this time. I'm thinking they never filled it the first time and what were they actually doing with my car when I left it to them over night. Yet still couldn't find one problem with it. I had my car towed there Bc check engine light was on and it wasn't driving well . I waited 2 days to call them to check what was going on only for them to tell me my car has been sitting there because someone lost my keys when they did find the keys the wanted to charge me almost 3 separate times to run a diagnostic on my car they gave me 8 different codes that showed up and none of them matched the code I got when I took it to autozone and when my friend scanned it. After me telling them I was gonna take it somewhere else they said they only charge me 190 something to run a diagnostic which they did. I called to check on it and they informed me that they changed a relay and fuse and that it was ready to go and was running perfectly. From my experience car mechanics usually call u before doing anything on ur car to get ur approval. When I picked it up it drove ok for one day and was doing the same thing it was doing when I first got it towed there. I called them to complain and I was basically told that I wasn't gonna get a refund and that they had fixed the problem. WORST PLACE EVER DONT GO HERE read more

This is one of most upstanding places I've ever taken a car to. We aren't from Phoenix, but were in town to look at a car we wanted to purchase. We called AAMCO ahead of time to ask if we could pay to have a mechanic look over the potential purchase and make sure we weren't getting ripped off (I'm a computer guy, not a mechanic). When we were leaving the dealer's for a test drive, we called to let them know we were on the way. He said that they were super busy, but that they'd clear a space for us because he had promised to look at it. After looking over everything, he brought me out to the car to show me a few things that we should be aware of if we were going to purchase the car. He then brought us inside and noted everything he thought we might be able to use to talk the dealer down. He (the owner of AAMCO) had previously been in car sales and he gladly gave us hint after hint on how we might be able to save money during the negotiations. After he was satisfied that we were well-armed to return to the dealer, he told us that there would be no charge for his services. I was there with my wife and two young kids, and he said that because we were a young family he wouldn't charge us for anything. WOW. Remember that he wasn't even trying to earn repeat business from us - he knew that we weren't from Phoenix, and that he'd likely never see us again. Seriously people - you can't go wrong doing business with these people. Good, honest, kind, and knowledgeable. Oh, by the way - we ended up saving over $1800 off of the dealer's asking price, largely as a result of the tips that this AAMCO owner supplied us with. Wow.. run run run run run run run run run away!! The guy at the desk kept switching his story from "I'm new, it's my first day at work, so I don't know what's going on.. " to "your vehicle is likely going to have lots of problems when I get under your hood, so I'm just telling you up front". Um.. I just brought my car in for an oil and transmission change, and without touching my vehicle, he somehow magically knew it would have a lot of (likely expensive) problems. This place is your classic ripoff and the guy at the front desk, apparently the owner, tried to hit on me while he lied through his teeth telling me I needed to replace my transmission. I went there after buying a used vehicle and knew there were going to be issues because of the deal I got, so I swung in here because I was nearby and had previously been to a good AAMCO. Afterwards, I went to my regular shop and they told me in 10 minutes the engine mounts were shot, including the tranny mount and that's likely why I was getting some shaking. The pricing was more than fair and I was worried it would be overpriced but it ended up being a few hundred dollars cheaper than any other shop. Horrible customer service. Never fixed the vehicle, replaced some part but didn't replace another that we were charged for (refunded that portion) but they didn't actually do what they said they were going to do which was diagnose, pinpoint issue and fix and no refund for all of that and no apologies. Now taking vehicle to someone who also said this place gives other transmission companies a bad name. I should've listened to the other reviewers who said to leave this place in the dust. I AM disappointed in their overall service I went there 12/15/17 Now, I gotta begin by sharing the good: They will tell you in writing what work they want to do on your car. (That's it!) Now the bad: Manager Scott is purely focused on the $$$'s. Our interactions on the phone and email tell me that if the job's not at least $4K-$6K, he "ain't interested". I brought in my 2006 Mazda5 (wagon) He gave me 3 quotes: $7000, $5500, and $4200 I needed to replace my head gasket and machine the head. A big job, but not a big job if you know what I mean. In his last communication before he stopped returning calls/emails was this: * if I went with the $4200 option, there would be "no warranty" and, * if I didn't do everything on the list, He didn't want the job. I asked if these items were "must haves" and he would not give me a straight answer. I really felt pressured and when he offered financing, I said "okay, let's do it". Then I find that even his financier felt he was asking too much and would only approve $1400. I know for a fact, that the work needed would be covered by the $1400 and I'd be back on the road. Did you know these guys charge $108/hour for labor??? I moved my car to another professional shop and they did the job. Do NOT GO TO AAMCO ON VAN BUREN. It cost me $200 and a ton of stress to get nothing from these guys! read more

Took my car there to have a diagnosis done because of the noise I was hearing they were supposed to call me to let me know what was wrong with my car they never called I showed up and they caught they were closed before they're close time so they kept my car there in the next day and they had confused my car with another car and taking out my power steering pump put it back in but since that time I've had problems it leaks it makes noise I contacted the owner call their corporate office they were unwilling to do anything so I guess I'll see them in court. read more

I want to follow up on a previous poor review of this Aamco location....I wanted to use a 10% off coupon that this Aamco location had sent me. They refused it. I called the Aamco Corp. office and a woman named Melanie with customer support left a message on my phone that she would contact the Van Buren location about the issue, but I shouldn't expect anything. She told me to call her back and that she would fill me in on her conversation with the owner. I've tried three times and have left my cell number and I have had no call back. They told me my car had a lot of loose stabilizing parts. I installed all of those parts myself, they were not loose. I went in for a tranny seal replacement. They did fix the seal, but they also messed up my alignment... What kind of repair shop breaks something, trying to replace another? read more

Brought my car here yesterday afternoon (with an appointment). I arrived at my appointment time and was told they were so busy it would take an hour and a half before they could look at it. 3 hours later they call me to tell me what's NOT wrong with my car. Okay... Well what was wrong then? I was once again left waiting to be told they'd have answers for me this morning. I call at 1:30pm after receiving no update. I'm told that it's something with wheel bearings and that they can have it done in 3.5 hours. It's 7:30pm and I still do not have my car back. Just called the shop to be chastised by the front desk worker who basically tried to guilt me because he and the mechanic were staying late for me. Am I supposed to feel bad? This has been almost a 36 hour ordeal. I told them I leave to go out of town (for two weeks) tomorrow morning and they promised I would have my car tonight. Needless to say, I won't be returning. I came to pick up my car today and they said they will not give it back unless I pay a down payment of $250 which I clearly told Mike I did not have at the moment.
