Been here a few times just for drinks, but my most recent venture to Birdies was for the real…read moreattraction, the golf simulators! We love an activity while drinking. Now let me start off by saying that my best work comes on the pitch and putt course, but that doesn't stop me from making a fool of myself while the guys on the simulators next to us are absolutely demolishing the ball. You don't need to worry about bringing your own clubs as they do have rentals, but you can bring your own too. We did a two hour rental in the afternoon and only booked the day before with no issues. The staff were some of the nicest and most helpful guys I've had the pleasure of doing business with, they even gave us some extra time since we showed up a little late and there weren't any other rentals after us. Good selection of drinks and if you're hungry, they don't have their own kitchen but they have a deal with Rhum next door to order food, which is some good tasty bar food. I love the sort of mid century modern style they have going on, it fits the golf atmosphere, but none of the snobiness that it usually brings with the sport. Parking can be a little tricky, but there are a bunch of lots around (some paid, some not) which are likely your best bet, even if that means you'll have a short walk. Might just be my favorite bar in patchogue, golf or otherwise, and will gladly comeback here any time.

The bar counter itself is huge, so there's plenty of room for your cocktails. Staff is always friendly. If you are into running, join the Tuesday night run club that meets up there at 6 pm.

First, if your place is simply too small to host an event like this, don't host it. The bar has maybe 12-15 tables and a rectangular bar. There was never enough room for the crowd that showed up. Second, if you're expecting people who have never been there before, tell them reservations are accepted. A simple line in the event announcement would have saved a lot of frustration. We showed up an hour early and stood in line to be seated for 15-20 minutes before a waitress finally told us every table had been reserved. She also explained that many of the customers were regulars who weren't leaving anytime soon. Then she took down names for a waiting list, only to tell everyone that we might never actually get called. So what was the point of taking names? By the time 7:00 rolled around, the place was packed beyond belief. If the fire code wasn't being tested, I'd be surprised. It felt like being packed in like sardines. Fortunately, I know the collectibles dealer who works with Jose Reyes, so I was able to meet Jose outside, get photos with him, and also with Mr. and Mrs. Met. That made the trip worthwhile. When I went back inside to say hello to a friend, I thought I was going to get trampled by the crowd. After that, we left. If Rudi's didn't want my business, the Cheesecake Factory certainly did. I got the free photo with Jose Reyes, spent exactly zero dollars at Rudi's, and enjoyed dinner elsewhere. Their loss was the Cheesecake Factory's gain.

Especially, since I hear their first location closed. I've always like both of them. They had killer paninis and the staff was always fun. We were given a private side area where we had some bar food, pasta, chicken and eggplant. Everything was delish. From what I understand they still hold community event here. It's something I always admired about the spot. I would def come back if in the area!

We later realized they offer $8 appetizers during happy hour on other nights, which made the promotion feel a little less special. The appetizers (Mozzetta Triangles and Pretzel Nuggets) were the highlight of the meal and were much better than the entrees. Unfortunately, the entrees took an unusually long time to arrive, we eventually had to ask about them because we thought they had been forgotten. The menu is also a bit pricier than we're used to, and the food quality didn't justify the cost. On the positive side, the ambiance was nicer than expected. The bar and dining areas are spacious, and there are two outdoor seating sections, one enclosed and one open. The outdoor space, in particular, seemed like it would be a great place to host a party, with plenty of seating and a comfortable layout.

First things first, I do want to point out the inconvenience of parking at this establishment. The…read moreparking is on the pricey side just for a couple hours and the app/website to pay for parking is extremely inconvenient. I do not think that the restaurant has control over that, but the plaza area that it's placed makes it such an inconvenient place to eat. My rating makes it clear that it also was not worth the time, money, nor the inconvenience of eating here. So you're just better off going somewhere else. Furthermore, trying to find the right door to this place is like trying to find Waldo within a minute of looking in the book. I was going around the whole building until I found the door. 1. The Cheeseburger Egg Rolls: this was actually the best dish out of the bunch. I enjoyed the flavor of the egg rolls and the sauce along with it was quite nice. 2. I had The Smokehouse Smash Burger and my friend had the Chicken Avocado Wrap. -The Smokehouse Smash Burger was extremely lackluster. No juiciness in the burger at all. Either I'm just not a fan of Smash Burgers or Smash Burgers just generally are bad because it was not appetizing whatsoever. My fries were excessively salty (in case the photo doesn't do much justice). We have salt and pepper seasoning on the table. Why does the chef feel the need to douse my fries in a ton of salt? I had to scrape off the salt piece by piece just to appreciate the taste of the fries. -The Chicken Avocado Wrap my friend had also came with sweet potato fries. Which again, were just as salty. The wrap was falling apart. The chicken inside the wrap had a bunch of tendons in it. Definitely not what a wrap should have. The Service was mediocre. Our waitress was nice, but not at all attentive. My friend couldn't wait to get going and leave so she had to leave without me because of how much pain she was in from sitting too long. She reported about the bad sweet potato fries and then it took forever for the new batch to come out. Not sure if it's the fault of chef or the waitress, but she was already done with her wrap by the time the waitress arrived to say the fries are coming out soon. So my friend told her they're not worth it anymore. They did refund for the fries I believe, but if the waitress had been more attentive to who she was assigned to, maybe the fries would've been handled in a timely manner, but I digress. The chef is also to blame for this lackluster meal that my friend and I had to tolerate. I'm sorry, but with The Tap Room, I am Tapping out! I will not be coming back to this place. Not just the fact that the food was mostly bad. Not just the fact that the service was poor. The parking! That's another batch of money I will never get back. It's not worth your time and money, folks. Find a unique bar/restaurant worth your while and actually is a plaza with CONVENIENT FREE PARKING
