Being someone who loves to go out and travel, I was starting to feel restless in my home so I started looking for a way to "get away" while still following the rules. The PE solved that for me. Given the circumstances, they had such a good deal during my stay. They let me check in super early, which allowed me to work from my laptop in peace and quiet (vs. from my home, where there were other people and dogs). They also threw in free parking and a bottle of wine. What sealed the deal for me was being able to go to the rooftop and have a drink with my friend. Usually packed, the rooftop that night was all to ourselves, and we were able to have bites and drinks in such a pretty setting, all while social distancing (I mean, literally, no one else was there). And most importantly: **This does not seem to be a hotel that caters to its actual guests.** All signs point toward the rooftop and pool being for guests except there's actually a not-so-secret members club of locals and they seem to dominate the scene. And others ascend on the scene until wee hours. People come here to see and be seen. Which is fine except WHEN THE HOTEL'S MUSIC IS BLARING UNTIL 2:30 IN THE MORNING AND IT TAKES MULTIPLE CALLS TO THE FRONT DESK TO MAKE IT STOP. There is nothing rational about this kind of experience at a hotel, especially at these rates. And especially when there are many people staying there for work. The only reasonable explanation is that they are catering to locals looking to party and pay twice the price for a drink, which then makes this an unreasonable place to stay depending on your needs. LA was finally opening up, so we booked a coveted room on a beautiful Friday night, hoping for a cool, vibey + romantic staycation. Bummer that Toledo Diamond wasn't performing. (We were notified after arriving that someone rented out most of the roof.) Checked in, room was fine, bathroom kinda ghetto for the price. Dinner was beautiful (best Kumamotos I've ever had). Rooftop was very chill for a Fri, but had a good time kicking it by the fireplace, crashed happy. Woke up so stoked for some coffee and breakfast by the pool. Hostess seated us then vanished. No coffee, no water, no juice, no waitress for 30min. I went in and notified the hostess, who told me that she forgot to add us to the system. Went back out and waited. No coffee, no water, no waitress... after another 15 min I went back in and ordered 2 coffees w whatever waitress I could find. Back outside -another 15min passed. (Now a total of an hour on a Sat 10:30am, in the sun, wtf) Zero apology from anyone. I called the front desk on my cell and explained the frustration. Instead of having any sympathy, or solution, he said, " The rooftop is it's own thing, nothing I can do about it". No apology. No curiosity. So I asked if we could order room service. Ordered an açai bowl. When we got down to the room they delivered Tuna Tartar. I'm not kidding. Check the pic. Went back up to the roof and mentioned the scenario to a host, who informed me that they are understaffed, and also said, "you don't come here for the service, you come here to see cool people". . Twilight Zone shit. Called to ask for a late check out, and was LECTURED by a rude male receptionist. We felt no warmth, no anticipation of our needs, no communication, zero apologies, zero hospitality. It was like every single employee hated their jobs and didn't want to be there. It's one of my favorite places in all of LA, thats why it was so heartbreaking that we couldn't wait to leave. Note this review is strictly for the rooftop and not for the hotel. Cool rooftop, great scene/ambience, decent food, slightly overpriced: Petit Ermitage in a nutshell. I have a friend who is a member of the rooftop, which functions basically like SoHo house except this is the only location and it's definitely more bohemian. The space is amazing. It has a butterfly/hummingbird garden on the roof with kumquat trees (the fruit of which is used in cocktails when ripe), a pool, lots of cabanas, and verdant foliage. The pool isn't huge but the area around it is spacious, so there's a lot of room to lounge. When the sun goes down there are ample heat lamps and blankets to stay warm. The design is awesome and has a very bohemian/middle eastern vibe. Cocktail bar on the inside is great. Bartender (when I went at least) was right on the nose with what we wanted. I ordered a drink off the menu but my friends just described the basic drink they wanted and he made something perfect. Food is solid. The burger is phenomenal - cooked perfectly with plentiful fries. The breakfast is just okay, in my opinion. Everything is just a LITTLE too pricey, and that's even with my NYC standards. I stayed at Petit recently to celebrate a dear friend's birthday. The plan was simply to relax by the pool, enjoy food and drinks, check out the entertainment for the evening and sleep in the next day before breakfast. We had no need or desire to leave the property - it was a true vacation from life and a special atmosphere of chic luxury and indulgence. As I travel very frequently and love to try different Hotels this place is the most beautiful cute character Charming Boutique Hotel with a French euro style. When I arrived I was unfortunately given a horrible room, the room had a funky smell and it was extremely dark, small and depressing as I went to open the window there was a huge wall and a bush as my view, lol. When I called the front desk the phone in my room was not working, I had to call from my cell phone in order to speak to someone about a room modification. However when I spoke to Thomas I informed him of my displeasure of the room and was upgraded for a reasonable fee to a beautiful large Suite on the 3rd floor with a gorgeous fireplace a huge couch and a balcony with lovely Hollywood Hills views, at that moment I felt they had redeemed themselves. You will also find premade cocktails, special spirit kits for a very reasonable price, if I would have been travelling with company I am sure I would have taken advantage of their premade kits. The pool area was my favorite as it is open day & night, the pool has a plethora of sitting areas near the pool to lounge, huge cabanas, and an enchanting fireplace with lots of beautiful lighting, heating lamps and cozy blankets for when the evening emanates. It was extremely close to all the bars in WeHo so it's location it's perfect for those who want to take a quick stroll to the bars. The few nights I stayed here there was really no need to leave, the food was delicious, by far better than the remaining restaurants in WeHo, the people were all so attractive and the music was exceptionally great. The valet staff were all soooo nice as well as the staff inside the Hotel. I love Petit Ermitage! The vibes are always on point, food is good, and you cannot beat the rooftop in the summer time. Each day and night there are events like roof top yoga, movie nights, and performance art acts. The core community of the place maintains exceptional hospitality and company, allowing this to be such an oasis in an otherwise at times ungrounded city. There may be party vibes that are unwelcome by some (if you're here on a workcation you may do better trying to work from your room rather than the rooftop), but if you're a social person with a pleasant and fun demeanor you will not successfully check out of this hotel without a slew of new friends. From the moment you discover this hidden treasure tucked into the area between Sunset and Santa Monica blvd in We Ho, it feels like you stepped back in time. The art is amazing, the place is so cute and quaint. The valet is AMAZING!! I wish the rest of the hotel staff and experience would have been as good. The food is ok, they have candles on the lounge area that sit on the back of the bed/lounge areas. My friend leaned back and her hair caught fire..no one in the bar area acted like it was even a big deal. I felt that was very negligent. Really wanted to love this place. The aesthetic is rather cool from the outside, and the vintage rooms and decor make for an excellent experience. I stayed 3 days and was extremely disappointed with the service. The staff is nowhere near warm or welcoming (including valet). I felt uncomfortable the entire time. On arrival I received a wonderful welcome from the reception staff and when I got to my room I was amazed at how beautiful and spacious it was and stocked with everything I could ever want and more. The rooftop pool is an amazing oasis in the middle of Weho and has stunning views of LA and the Hollywood Hills. Wait staff are on hand to bring drinks and food so you never have to move and the hotel location is perfect with bars and restaurants 2 minutes walk away. Long time coming, but thought time to share. We were burglarized while getting drinks there. Specifically, we left our car with the valet and afterwards cash, sunglasses, driving gloves, car cleaning supplies, etc, were gone from the dash, central console, and trunk. This happened on Thanksgiving Day. So a super great feeling, you can imagine. I contacted the hotel management and they told me they had video of the car from it being parked to being given back and nothing could have been stolen. They didn't share the video but said they would to the WeHo police department. Like the police department is going to care about petty crime these days with how bad violent crime has become in the city... It doesn't make sense that nothing could have been stolen because... all those items were in the car before we parked with the valet. We lock the car otherwise when it's in our possession at home. Only time anyone had a key of this car other than us that day was, ya guessed it, the hotel valet. I don't know what's going on over there. It seemed like management was trying to be helpful and then all of a sudden denied it could have been their fault at all. I can only assume it's some racket some people have on staff that they're aware of and don't want to be liable for. That's West Hollywood for you, folks. read more

I was among the first guests of this sweet little bohemian boutique hotel back when they first opened a decade or so ago, and used to stay here every time I came to LA for meetings. It was always my little garden oasis in a string of stressful back-to-back meetings. Eventually, I got priced out (you used to be able to get a junior suite for $165 a night, then it jumped to $300+). When you're staying a week, that's hard on the pocketbook. So I was beyond thrilled when I checked prices for this August trip and found I could get the junior suite for less with the third night discount. I am so glad I got the chance to stay here again - and especially that I finally got to share it with my husband (I'd always come down alone before), AND with my two filmmaker kids who were in and out as schedules allowed. I was actually prepared to be disappointed, especially with the service, since the recent Yelp reviews are pretty disparaging on that front. But, I was pleasantly surprised. With the exception of one evening up on the rooftop where we had a few rather bristly interactions with Leroy the holier-than-thou waiter (corkage-fee + attitude), our servers were all great. We had drinks and appetizers on the roof and breakfast in the beautiful hummingbird garden several times, and each time (other than the Leroy time - thus 4 stars instead of 5) was lovely. I will say, other guests do seem to feel that anything goes here (the rooftop pool is topless as desired) - add booze and pot, and it can get a little... awkward, for the rest of us. I think that's the vibe they want, though. By the way, the restaurant doesn't just draw hummingbirds, I believe it's an actual recognized hummingbird sanctuary. We were visited by them often over breakfast. And for breakfast - get the avocado toast and add a poached egg with a side of bacon. I ordered this three times, it was that good. Petit Ermitage is honestly one of my favorite places and I'm so glad to find it just as appealing and eccentric and unique and welcoming as it was back when it opened. I love the characters at the front desk, the art on the walls, the dimmers on all the lights, the water pressure in the shower... I love that it marches to its own drummer. I love the VIEW from that rooftop, and the music piping in is atmospheric and groovy. I sleep very, very well here - the beds are insanely comfortable. Found this little boutique hotel with rooftop restaurant and pool but you can only eat and party here if you are a staying guest or invited by a member. Membership is only available by invite or...... I can't say, I've been sworn to secrecy! Lol. No seriously! Restaurant service was GREAT! This place is not cheap and expect to be charged for everything, including water. We were a party of 7 and everyone enjoyed their food, the service and view. They have cabanas that you can sit in for more privacy but we opted for open view. If I can make a suggestion I would suggest the Chilean bass that my wife ordered. It was bomb.com. After dinner we enjoyed drinks at the heated salt water pool area that has many lounge areas and fire place, great views and is actually a hummingbird sanctuary. The pool area is a European pool which means it is topless. No kids allowed after 11 am. We enjoyed live music inside with intimate seating for about 40 people by LKYM THE BAND. They were actually pretty damned good. I reserved a suite for the wifey and I. My wife absolutely loved the room and all the extras like champagne bottle on ice and free slippers to keep. The tool is kind of old world looking but very chic. Beds are super comfortable and there is a gas fireplace in room that makes it that much more romantic. There is a fully stocked bar. This bar was more stocked than you normally find in other hotels. There is intimate packages with vibrators, lube etc. There is also a itsy bitsy bikini you can purchase in case you forgot yours and want to partake in the European pool. I would totally recommend this hotel but will tell you that this is not they most ideal place to bring or stay with your kids. This is more for the adults fun time. We will most def be back for our adult shenanigans. read more

As a mgmt consultant, I've stayed in a variety of boutique style hotels, but Petit Ermitage has got to be one of my faves. Loved everything about the hotel, from its rooftop, pool, food/libations, to its room. The room ambiance is quite provocative and eccentric, while the rooftop is moreso boho chic. Tops are optional at the pool. Their suites have a charming balcony and fireplace, and little touches like coffee table books and nonconformist paintings. I had a miserable time at Petit Ermitage. Don't let the rooftop view fool you, that's all the hotel has going for it. Take a closer look at the building - it's just a cheap, old apartment building covered in stucco and made to look vintage. The rooms are dark and dusty and contain old appliances. The AC is a wall unit that barely functions and there are hardly any outlets to charge devices. The service is also atrocious. When you're on the rooftop, you have to flag down servers several times to place a drink order, and on many occasions we had to order twice because our server forgot to put our order in the computer. They also charges us for items we never received. The worst part is that the hotel rooftop is open 24/7, which means there's noise at all hours of the night. Our room 219 was right next to the staircase and we were regularly awake from 2:30am-4:30am dealing with loud guests, furniture moving, and staff running up and down the stairs, shaking our headboard. The noise would resume at 7am and persisted throughout the day into the late hours of the morning. I tried everything I could to get a fair resolution but Troy on management would only send a bottle of wine and comp food and beverage charges. We had to cancel our stay halfway through and book another hotel just to get a good night's sleep. This caused us to pay significantly more in last minute room rates. In response to asking for a better resolution, the front desk manager Tess said, "well not every guest has your experience." Needless to say, we won't be going back to the Petit Ermitage again. The manager at the restaurant on the roof is the worst. Nader or Nadir. Lost my order 2 1/2 hours later I was confused why artichoke was taking so long and he came over said they weren't doing any food and the kitchen was doing a deep clean, offered ZERO SOLUTIONS ZERO REMEDY for their fault in bringing 4 other dishes for my friends and never only the service team said they were taking the final order before kitchen closed. The server who was already cut and off duty overheard me talking to the manager and offered a solution. I'm shocked their manager is running a team that offers customers zero solutions when the server who was off duty said he would check with hotel kitchen what they could still offer me with my diary allergy. Please someone train Nadir or Nader on how to offer solutions to the customer instead of being like we fucked not much i can do I'm sorry I wish I could help‍‍ Thank you for the off duty server who saved the managers ass. Side note my family owns and runs restaurants, had been restauranteur of the year so the service by the manager is wild. Please someone train him. On the other end George my server SAVED THE DAY!!!!!!!! Be brought me a whole fruit plate and a meat board from the hotel. He's amazing he knows solutions and the servers and bussers are the lifetline of customer service. The management could take lessons. The manager gets a level 1 star. A last minute one-night booking and I would certainly stay here again -it's a small place and we did not take advantage of the pool, or even go up to the rooftop (it was cold and rainy when we checked in) but the room itself was nicely outfitted and the front desk people were helpful and kind. Charming hotel located in W Hollywood, close to lots of places of interest and within walking distance to Sunset Strip. Took my husband here on his birthday weekend for a little staycation. I love planning overnight stays in nearby cities because it gives me the opportunity to see that city in a different perspective. We reserved a poolbed and I highly recommend that if the weather permits! Check in time is at 4 but our room wasn't ready until 4:30. We had a junior suite, #312 and it was a very lovely room! Bathroom looks like it was renovated at some point but the carpet could definitely use a refresh. Bed was nice and firm and my husband and I definitely appreciated that. Lots of fun and quirky amenities in the room! We ordered room service and the food was amazing. Seriously. I was very impressed with the food served at this hotel. Staff are all very friendly and accommodating. We loved our stay. Walking to get coffee in the morning- it was a different experience to see the city so quiet; I've always gone in the evenings when there's definitely more hustle and bustle. Highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a place to stay in this area. Please note they only have valet parking which is $54 a night. read more

Don't server know they are there to help the night along and not try to be mr cool or funny. Ugh. "For reservations...bark like a dog!" This hotel is whimsical, worldly, sophisticated and just a tad bit naughty. If you're looking for an escape and some privacy, you've met your match. Tucked away in a residential neighborhood in West Hollywood, this boutique hotel is nestled amidst ivy, delicate lights and adult subtleties. The service professional, attentive and immediate giving you the sense that guests needs are catered to. The rooms are suite-like and have a bit of an old world vibe, complete with an electric fireplace and fancy slippers. The lighting in my room was pretty dim in both the bathroom and main areas, making it a better place to head for refuge and down time, rather than a space for productivity. The rooftop however is what really made my heart skip a beat. The private, loungey pool area beautiful and anything but a scene. I mean, it's insanely scenic with great views of the hills and little cabanas, but the no photo policy that guest sign off on when checking in really prevents it from being a full on photo shoot while people are trying to relax. The restaurant that is immediately adjacent is a little slice of heaven. The seating spaces are nestled in between beautiful plants and flowers all around since the rooftop garden also doubles as a butterfly and hummingbird sanctuary. (Yes, I'm for reals!) The food is pretty good too, but just be prepared for orders to add up quickly since the price points are a little steep (but not at all unexpected for a hotel.) All of the staff working were extremely accommodating and I'm still tickled by their answering machine message that says "for reservations...bark like a dog!" It is a 'Party Hotel' where the guests who are patrons are allowed to heavily party in their rooms without being held accountable nor bothered by literally bothering all other hotel guests. Not to mention how old and damaged the whole hotel and hotel rooms are. It is just dirty and worn out. Private rooftop club is in the garden, very beautiful, lots of flowers and plants, it is also a lounge with couches, cocktail tables and cabanas to provide intimate times. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's global inspired fine fare, to me the menu is a little limited, but it's good for some afternoon snack and drink times. There is a butterfly bar and lounge on top floor, good for having a few drinks whenever you feel like it. The pool is small, but it's a heated saltwater European pool! How cool is that! And lots of comfy couches, private cabanas too, they serve light fare and drinks, try lobster and champagne in summer. Children under 18 can only use the pool from 7am- noon with an adult. So this pool is perfect for adults and couples sexy relaxing pool times all year round. :) The suites are very comfy, we had an executive suite, it is spacious, separate living area with pull out queen sofa, walk in closet, sleeping area with fire place, a queen bed and a balcony. Each suite has unique wall papers and arts. Very beautiful . The bathroom is kinda small, no soaking tub, I think they have it at master quarters suites. The first floors are pet friendly, any per under 30lbs are welcome with a $150 non-refundable pet fee. The staffs are very helpful and friendly. Rates starting from $285 on most weekends, $25 parking per day. This hotel is great for weekend getaways, romantic, sexy, intimate, comfy and relaxing.
