I've been coming to Petite Dental for 7 years and I'll never go anywhere else for pediatric dental care. Everyone here is kind, positive, and patient with the littles. It's a dream for a parent with dental anxiety! Fast forward to this week: after an appointment, my kitten popped the balloon they gave us. Kiddo was SO sad, so I took a chance and called to ask if we could come pick up a replacement. Celeste was instantly full of empathy! She understood the importance of the balloon, and didn't hesitate to make a new one! What a huge relief it was! When I arrived and needed help with other services, she was so helpful, communicated clearly and was just a blast to talk to. And her coworker (should have gotten her name) was so fun, chatty, and helpful too. It made a stressful situation so much easier to handle. read more

After 14 years as patients at Petite Dental, I'm incredibly disappointed that this is how our relationship ended. When we first started coming here, the care was personal. Dr. Hoang spent time with us, explained treatment, and made us feel genuinely cared for. We even continued driving from Buda after we moved because we trusted the practice. Unfortunately, over the years, that changed. Every visit began to feel more like an assembly line than personalized healthcare. My children have always had difficult teeth, and while I understand treatment recommendations can vary between dentists, I increasingly felt judged rather than supported. We also consistently felt overtreated, and the bedside manner often left my children in tears after appointments. No child should leave a dental office feeling ashamed. The doctor even judged me for holding my toddler one time she said something like "you're too big to be held" Excuse me.?! I know you have your own children and you are probably the most perfect mom but no need to judge other moms. The biggest turning point was with my oldest daughter. We were told she needed a crown and were essentially told she should transition out of the practice because of the complexity of her dental needs. I sought a second opinion from a dentist in Buda. Their recommendation was completely different: no crown, just more frequent cleanings and sealants. She's doing great. This wasn't the first time I'd needed a second opinion. Several years ago, another extensive treatment plan was presented for Jaidyn. At the time, my father, who was a dentist, examined her and strongly disagreed with the proposed treatment. I requested a meeting with Dr. Hoang, and after reevaluating her herself, she recommended a much simpler treatment plan. That experience stayed with me. The problems weren't limited to treatment recommendations. Communication and scheduling became increasingly frustrating. One visit ended with my daughter Jovan leaving without her next orthodontic appointment being scheduled. I was the one who discovered it, called the office, and was initially told we'd have to wait another month. Thankfully Lisa stepped in and got her scheduled sooner, but it was another preventable mistake. There were other examples too. I once drove all the way to the office to pick up a retainer, only to find out it hadn't even arrived. I had to make another trip because no one had contacted me beforehand. Again, Lisa helped smooth things over, but these communication breakdowns became a pattern. What has disappointed me even more than the treatment differences is the complete lack of communication and compassion. Months ago, I expressed my concerns and requested a call from Dr. Hoang. That call never came. At my most recent visit, I again shared how hurt I was by our previous experience. No apology. No acknowledgment. I even had to point out that no one had simply said, "I'm sorry you've had this experience." Then came my youngest daughter's cleaning. I was quoted more than $200 out of pocket. At no point did anyone ask whether I had secondary dental insurance or thoroughly review my benefits. Had someone simply asked, I could have provided my additional insurance information, and my daughter would have been fully covered. Instead, I walked out and canceled every future dental appointment. Ironically, I later learned from another dental office that not only was my daughter fully covered under my secondary policy, but even without insurance their out-of-pocket cost would have been almost half of what I was quoted at Petite Dental. When I asked why no one had followed up with me, I was told the office had tried to contact me. I have plenty of appointment reminder texts, but I have no emails and no meaningful communication from the financial team regarding my concerns or insurance. That was another missed opportunity. After 14 years, all I wanted was accountability, compassion, and one simple phone call from the doctor. It never happened. I'm grateful we've found a new dental home where my children feel welcomed instead of judged. We'll finish our orthodontic contract because we've already committed to it, but I can no longer recommend the dental side of this practice. Fourteen years is a long time to stay loyal to a practice. I never expected perfection. I simply expected to be treated like a person instead of a number. read more

I can't fully express how ticked off I am about this dentist. I brought my kids here for YEARS, and our last visit is the last. Dr. Kim told us my oldest had eight caviites. EIGHT! All that consistent brushing and flossing meant nothing, I guess. I said the price tag was a bit steep for us and that it would be easier if we just did the major one and saved the rest for some other time. Their response: "No. Our policy is to work on all the teeth and not leave any decay in a child's mouth. It's best to get it all done at once." Something didn't feel right about that to me because it seemed high-pressure and these were her permanent teeth we were discussing. I made an excuse and asked for the X-rays without scheduling a new appointment, then brought her to my dentist. First off he had to take new X-rays because the ones from Petite Dental were bad quality. He said he could only find one cavity and a couple other potential issues that could later become cavities if she didn't take care, but her teeth were in excellent shape. And to top it all off, the cavity was UNDER a crown (which Dr. Kim neglected to mention when she told me about it). There should only be less than a 10% chance of that happening if the crown was done correctly. I went from suspicion to full-blown mama bear. I called Dr. Kim's office to let them know I would hold off with my other child who they said had five cavities so that I could see if the enamel-healing toothpaste (nano hydroxyapatite) I'd gotten would help, then we'd do a second set of X-rays and get a new assessment in a few months. The response was lackluster at first, but the lady at the front desk agreed to my suggestion. Then two minutes later she called back to try pressuring me into just getting the work done because a new set of X-rays wouldn't make a difference anyway. I just about blew up and said we're done with them. As nice as these people are, they are not trustable. They believe firmly in their own infallibility and race towards the most medically-invasive procedures even when it's not necessary. When someone gets paid more for something being wrong, they tend to err on the side of "caution". We won't be back. Ever. read more

We used to love this place a year ago and have since moved, they said my son had no problems then at the next six month check up said he needed 12 caps and thousands of dollars dental work. No preamble or sorry we didn't see anything before just a huge bill and no bedside manner to tell us he needed to go under general anesthesia. They left a referral to another pediatric dentist downtown that they are affiliated with that didn't agree with their assessment and suggested a more conservative treatment plan! It's so hard trusting and finding a good care team for pediatric care and I have lived in Austin my entire life but I cannot recommend these new doctors. I went to Petite Dental to get my bottom retainer examined and I had a great experience! The front desk workers were super friendly and helpful. I waited in the waiting area which was so fun and cute (it had hula hoops to play with and kids drawings framed on the wall). When I got called back into the chair, Alex was the orthodontic assistant that helped me. She got me all situated and made sure I was comfortable (and she was so sweet!). Then I saw my orthodontist, Dr. Haber. He did a very thorough exam on my retainer and ensured everything was working properly and glued in place firmly. He reviewed his findings with me and was very informative and transparent. He wanted to make sure I could also see what he was seeing, so he sent me back to get photos. Alex took me to the photo station to get pictures of my bottom retainer. They use heated mirrors so they don't get fogged up when breathed on... mind blown! Dr. Haber then reviewed the photos with me so we could look at it together while he walked through my exam results. This gave me so much comfort and peace of mind because it allowed me to have all the information I needed, with picture proof! Dr. Haber was so great and informative, and I could tell he truly cares about his patients. He even let me take a selfie with him! As a bonus, I got to keep the Petite Dental sunglasses that I wore during the exam. And even though they are probably meant for the kids, they let me pick out a sticker :) 10/10 would definitely recommend! read more

Dr.Hoang refused to provide treatment we scheduled on a tooth presenting active decay. We came in for an extraction and They insisted in providing treatment I did not accept for my child. They've got production goals to meet at the expense of your child's well-being. Do yourself a favor and review treatment plans...Not to mention they charge deposits for appointments...Very sneaky establishment Trying to execute comprehensive treatment plans on a limited exam is wild...Someone's got student loans to pay and it shows in the reply I get it you're still learning, not on my child though. I left a lengthy Google review a few weeks ago about my retainer experience as I received poor, inaccurate information from Petite Dental from 2019 and 2022. It was mentioned that they discussed my case in the Google Review as the inaccurate information with them reviewing my retainers affected me now from 2019 and now it is officially confirmed I will need Invisalign again to rectify what happened prior. Teeth take some time to shift and move. Long-story short, dentists/assistants at the time checked my teeth and would always say things would look good; however, they did not mention how retainers can be worn out further due to grind, etc. I would follow what they told me religiously with how they said it would last 3-5 years for my original purchase from 2019 and on my last visit in Dec. 2022 /Jan 2023 when I realized I started to develop a small middle gap and planned to get new retainers from them. Prior to Petite, when I was in Pittsburgh, I would change them every 2 years/get new ones. However, in 2019, I was assured by the office that the ones they had were strong and last for 3-5 years. This is not all accurate and it's dependent on a variety of factors as I learned through the new orthodontist I am now at. This is something I believe the dentist/ortho at Petite both in 2019/2022 who examined could have dug further into or provided information about back then and on my last visit. Regardless, they reiterated the same memo. In the past, I had braces to mainly help correct an overbite (I still have a little bit of it; that's something the dentists/orthodontists should have been able to see and tell me about as my new orthodontist explained it to me in detail) and that can wear out retainers/teeth more (something new I learned from the place I now to go to about these side affects). Bad advice was given again since none of the dentists/orthos Petite had looked further into this on any of my visits and provide the correct patient education with retainer care. They were going to proceed with making another retainer despite my doubts after I noticed the small little gap/things not being like they were in 2019. But luckily, whoever they were sending the scans to for making these, lost them over Christmas when I was about to pick them up so I got a refund. At the same time, since things became noticeable for me, I had another orthodontist (Invisalign gold provider) check things out due to my doubt and they have gotten me on the right treatment plan. I will have to proceed with Invisalign to fix what happened from 2019 after I purchased the initial retainers and the shifts that occurred between that time (3 years until 2022) and I'm out 3k. I included a photo here of the gap so everyone can see and the differences in my smile. Petite Dental is not the best for adults from my experience. The staff was pleasant and nice. However, sadly the information was all wrong. The most disappointing thing that I learned going forward in the future to look for is for dentists and orthodontists to review/look at your past scans as that is the real truth of things when patients feel doubtful. That never happened here either in 2019 or 2022 when I brought my concerns up. I hope Petite improves for the future and this can be avoided for future patients who seek treatment from Petite. I'm sure that I'm the few cases that Petite missed the mark with out of many. However, regardless, patients and Petite deserves to know since not everyone can afford the 3k price tag for a second round of Invisalign/braces and it's a huge price for anyone to pay due to the shortcomings here. I appreciate Petite for at least acknowledging this from what I see upfront on my google review but still it does this warrant honest review. read more

If you enjoy a dentist that will only treat your child's cavities by giving them general anesthesia or sedation, then this is the place for you. After seeing many orthodontists and being told I needed to get orthognathic surgery to correct my underbite, I met Dr. Haber who was super determined and persistent from DAY 1 to correct my bite with braces and HE DID! I took my two year old here today and it was wonderful. We got there a little early so while we were waiting, the receptionist gave her an iPad to play with and then brought her a giant set of teeth and a giant toothbrush when she lost interest in the iPad. When they called us back, we were greeted by the super friendly dentist and her equally friendly assistant. They immediately let her pick out a tooth brush and made her feel so comfortable that she got right in the chair. They went out of her way to make everything seem fun and exciting to my daughter. We haven't seen a pedi dentist here in the ATX, since we moved here. I looked on my daughters insurance website, to find dentists close to the house/school and saw that Petite Dental was on Brodie..not too far from us. I've been to dental places with all the bells and whistles, and been almost fooled into paying an arm and a leg, for things my daughter didn't really need. Today, was the first time I had an honest answer out of a dentist, in regards to what was truly needed, and what could wait. Before, I was pressured into signing up for things, just because they recommended, and today the opposite. I felt like Dr. Hoang and her staff were kind and gentle, but also very fair in the observations. I was in and out within an hour, and we scheduled our return for a couple days from now. Instead of paying for the ridiculous things insurance won't cover, they are saying.. This is what you can do.. And it's covered by your insurance. In my book. That is a stellar way to do business! Referred to Petite Dental and went into today for my son's check up and determine what dental work was needed. Entire office staff is very helpful, kind, professional and easy to talk to. As soon as you walk in, they are smiling and ready to help. Dr. Huang was very detailed, explained options and suggested which one to take and why. I was deathly afraid of taking my two year old to the dentist because I had some traumatic dental treatments as a child.. After reading reviews for Petite Dental and hearing about a positive experience from a friend, we made an appointment. The staff was so friendly and great with our kiddo. We expected him to freak out but he was surprisingly good with the cleaning and exam. They did not rush and made him feel comfortable before doing anything. Love this place! My son and daughter have been going here for the last year. The staff is super on top of things and courteous. We never have to wait for more than 10 minutes to go to the back. The doctor is amazing! She always directs the questions towards the kids and makes them feel involved as well. I came to Dr. Sint in Oct. 2012 for a consultation for braces. I was very reluctant to him, but he was wonderful with explaining everything that would be happening, all the instruments, how long it takes, and what's going to be happening. Dr. Sint made himself available to me 24/7 for any problems or concerns I would have. It took us two years and two months to reach perfection, and I could not be happier with our end result.
