Just like their bigger city locations but with easier on street parking. Friendly staff and maybe a calmer environment.

The food was exceptional, really really good! Service was on the slow side but the waitress was super sweet and gave us some yummy macarons as an "I'm sorry"! I hope she is on the slow side again soon haha. Definitely recommend.

Old world feel, like you could get slapped by your grandma for saying negative things about your sister. Good food, service was okay, you're not waiting for anything but have low expectations or just be a patient person. Limited options for diet restrictions, however, things like butter and milk (dairy) are so good. It's worth the bubble gut and mutt butt.

French cafe and Boulanger in heart of the Dalles. This baker knows French pastries. Breakfast and brunch items. Fresh ingredients; hash browns perfect! Raspberry jam. Cute cafe decor. Service very friendly and attentive. Can do take out but plan on sit down meal. Worth a detour off the freeway.

So... we ordered the "Vegan chorizo and tofu scramble" which is described as "A hearty tofu scramble made with vegan chorizo, spinach, red onions and our paprika-roasted potatoes. Finished with vegan sour cream with cilantro. Served with toast or butter croissant." We got: breakfast potatoes with a scrambled EGG to the side, smothered in pasty black beans, and some, maybe vegan, chorizo under the potatoes. No bread/croissant. And even weirder, I can't find any item on their published menu that even has black beans. Because this was to-go and we were 15 minutes away before we looked at the food, we couldn't get it fixed. Wow! After several phone calls the restaurant agreed to fully refund our meal.

We came here twice during our stay in Hood River. The first time we came it was simply divine! We had great food, great service, they weren't too busy and we thoroughly enjoyed everything we had. The croissants were fluffy warm and buttery, the raspberry jam is delicious. My husband's chicken chipotle sandwich was also delicious. the drinks were fantastic, and we got extra croissants and a lemon tart to go. On our way out of town, we decided to stop by for a final breakfast. This visit was terrible. There were several tables waiting to be bussed and servers did not see the opportunity to grab dishes as they passed these tables empty-handed. A party of six came in, and they rearranged tables that trapped one woman into the corner, and practically put another customer at the same table as an entirely different party. Just watching this gave me severe anxiety lol. We ordered the daybreak meal and I've had better food at a diner. The scrambled eggs were severely overdone, the hashbrowns lacked any flavor, and the bacon was overcooked. The croissants were still amazing and we still took some home. The coffee was delicious, but the service seemed frantic and disorganized.

    'The Dalles' Monte Cristo.

Arrive early if you want pastries. May have been a busy day but very little remained by the time we arrived after 11:00. Not to worry, had the Monte Christo which was fantastic. Others in the party had the French Onion and a breakfast combo. Food was fresh and the coffee was good. We will come back earlier tomorrow

I love Petite Provence, The Dalles location was just as wonderful. I love the branding with the black and gold exterior. It really dresses up the business on 2nd street. The interior is lovely as well with their signature lighting, tile and beautiful tables. I have been to several La Provence and Petite Provence, all have been consistently beautiful, delicious and clean. We visited on a Saturday morning which was expectantly busy. We were greeted kindly as we walked in the door. We thought we were going to grab a savory breakfast sandwich to go but we didn't see one on the menu. The nice server said she could make us a breakfast type of sandwich to go. The sandwich was incredibly warm and delicious. It came with sliced ham, melted cheese and a fried egg on a buttery fresh croissant. My husband and I devoured the scrumptious sandwich. For a sweet treat my husband surprised me with an apricot pastry. It was of course fresh and scrumptious. The center of the pastry had a delicious egg cream style filling with 4 halved apricots on top. I absolutely loved it!

My family had a hard time selecting a pastry because everything looks tasty!

While visiting family in The Dalles, I found Petite Provence online and HAD to go there. The ambiance is wonderful and the employees are friendly and helpful. There are seven of us and they seated us quickly and made us feel at home. The food is amazing! The bakery is awesome!! The drinks are excellent! I want to come back and try everything on the menu. I purchased gift cards so my son and his family can come back often. If you live in The Dalles or are just visiting, you have to come here!

Hastily decorated. Clean, but nowhere near sterile. The clerk seemed irritated that I walked in, like I was keeping her from something more important. So, I tried to order fast. I was a little peeved that I very clearly asked for a specific Danish, and she just kind of pretended not to hear me and very quickly threw a different Danish in the bag and gave me an irritated look and said, "Anything else?" Um... They were both huckleberry Danishes, but the one she gave me had like a third as much fruit as the one I specifically requested. Whatever. "You don't have any ham and jalapeno rolls or anything like that, do you?" "I'm sold out of that one, but I do have a bread filled with cream cheese and bacon and jalapenos." I took that. The jalapeno bacon cream cheese bread was amazing. The fillings were pretty standard, but the bread itself was phenomenal. Other reviewers have mentioned that the head chef is a classically trained pastry chef. It really showed in this bread. This bread was as good as the bread from my favorite bakeries in San Francisco. Top tier. I could probably eat a little loaf of it every day. It definitely would have been better heated up a little bit, since the cream cheese was all in a cold block on one side of the bread. But it was still really good. The Danish was decent. It definitely tasted very blueberry-y--- I'm not sure if I can tell the difference between regular blueberries vs huckleberries. Overall, it was about as good as a fresh store-bought Danish from Costco. It didn't necessarily taste home-made to me, but the website states that everything is made home-made and from scratch, so I guess it was. But it tasted kind of commercial. The total was around $9, which I thought was high considering the quality of the Danish and the amount of fillings. But prices are high in 2025... c'est la vie.

The cake donut was soft, fresh and not overly sweet...but the other 2 were the standouts. We loved the flavor and uniqueness of the bread. And the turnover was one of the best and flakiest I've probably ever had. Service was adequate and the place is tiny with a couple of tables inside. The black coffee was average, but glad they offered. Yummy pastries! Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area and wanting a tasty treat!

He also uses seasonal fruit fillings so look for raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, or the illusive huckleberry to make appearances in the sumptuous muffins and scones. Speaking of scones, you must try them, and at $1 they are half price and on par with what you'd find at a Starbucks or more upscale bake shop. All the quality and half the price, my kind of place! To some locals that are comparing the prices to the local supermarkets, ok it's a little more expensive, but you cannot compare these fresh baked, quality treats with a Rosauer's donut or packaged cookies.
