Popped in here when driving through town. The vibe was drab but was quite possibly due to what time it was. It was late afternoon so maybe that's their slow time. I got a cocktail which was good but not anything amazing. Two of us ordered the Chicken Shwarma, One ordered the Lamb dish, and the other a Burger. Our Friend that ordered the Burger said it was very good. The Chicken Schwarma was pretty tasty and it was a nice size portion. The Lamb was not very good. It was not very flavorful and was practically raw. Just not a very appetizing plate in general. But the service was friendly and it looked like it could be a pretty fun place as they had games and such. We would likely visit again if in the area. read more

Bottom line: not super impressed Wife and I used to come here before the place was renamed... again and we used to really like what it was. This time we wanted to try it as it is new again. We ordered burgers and dug in. I ordered their standard burger which was dry and mostly bland. Wife ordered one of the fancier burgers which was IMHO, largely the same - dry and bland. The service was excellent and the venue of course is fantastic. I appreciated that the music was not at a deafening level on Tuesday at 6pm! Probably one of my new favorite bars in town! My friends and I have always frequented whatever has been at this location. First it was el Taco Tequila then American Ale. We heard that American Ale had closed, and were just going to see what was in its place. What a delight! We didn't have any food, although I want to go back for their shawarma sliders and a pilsner deal (15$). I had two cocktails: hibiscus mule and the ivy maid. I adore hibiscus and this mule did not disappoint! It was tangy, a little minty, and a perfect balance. The ivy maid was also delicious. It's a vodka cocktail with simple ingredients like lime and sugar, but adds cucumber for refreshing twist. My husband had the penicillin- amazing! Cocktail price range: 10-12. I wasn't in the mood for beer, and it's almost too bad. The beers are tap are top quality! Includes some of my all time favorites like Deschutes Fresh Squeezed, a couple varieties of Stone, and various other breweries across the country including brews fro Telegraph and M. Special. There were about 15-20 on tap i'ld guess. I'm sure there's something for everyone. The interior hasn't changed much since American Ale. I am looking forward to going back. read more

Discovered the gem from Yelp reviews and it did not disappoint. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. We started with their creamy hummus and our server suggested the Koda Wrap for me and my hubby chose the PB&J Burger. This bar is my favorite hidden gem! With a cute patio, fresh food, and an amazing line up of alcohol behind the bar (Falah has Pappy's behind the bar!), it's hard not to rate this 5 stars. DO NOT COME HERE!!! This "restaurant" is a disaster. My SO and I came for burrito week and waited through a ridiculous line that was out the door, hoping it would all be worth it. After we finally order and sit down, we overhear the server saying that SHE DOESN'T EVEN WORK THERE!!! She just came in for an interview but the owner put her to work right away! Is that even legal????? There was literally ZERO staff besides this poor girl. Our cold and soggy falafel wrap was the final tipping point. We left soon after. Yikes where to start. I ordered lamb sliders and the buns were stale. I asked for no feta and it was loaded with the stuff. Asked for silverware to wipe it off and they completely forgot so I had to go inside and ask the bartender for a set. My girlfriend ordered a bowl but first they brought out a wrap. Finally and most insultingly their margaritas cost 12 bucks, come in a tiny glass, and are mostly cheap margarita mixer. This place is expensive with mediocre food and laughable cocktails. Avoid it like you avoid Covid and stay at least 6 feet away, preferably a block away at another restaurant. We won't be returning. Side note the singer they had singing sounded just like Andy from The Office so we at least had a good laugh. A bad singer being the highlight of our time there is a sad state of affairs. read more

Walking in, I thought maybe American Ale didn't close after all. Not much was different about the decor. One complaint was that there are tv screens with all of the beers listed on tap. I have perfect vision, but could hardly read the type and cost of beers. The beer was good and cocktails looked good too. The food was a whole different story. A few burgers were carried over from the American Ale menu but the one we got was not good. We also ordered a shawarma bowl. This is basically food you would expect from a food cart before food carts were a thing but for three times the price. The shawarma sliders were dry and gross. Needed some sort of sauce. The best part of the meal were the grape leaves. Service was also fine. They still have a lot of work to do in order to get their food up to par with the pricing. My suggestion is to stick to the appetizers and drinks if you plan a visit. read more

Foxtail is by far one of my new favorite places in Santa Barbara. If you haven't tried the food here, you NEED to. The best mediterranean food I've ever had, and just some of the best food I've ever had in general. Everything is fresh, from the farmers market or good sources, and you can taste the authenticity of every item. The homemade sauces are my favorite (harissa, tzatziki, ranch, etc.). There are some really good happy hour deals on food and drinks, $12 for a huge falafel burger, fries, and a pint is my go-to. The beer and cocktail menu is vast, they have more beers on tap than Lama Dog, changing the menu frequently so that every time I go in I can try a new beer. Lastly, the customer service is ON POINT. Falah, the owner makes sure to pay attention to every customer and has become a good friend of mine just from going in to the restaurant. If you've been thinking about going here, don't think twice just do it. read more

Have to say, I was pretty underwhelmed by my whole experience. Go elsewhere if you're looking for a good Mediterranean fix. I had really enjoyed the American Ale burgers, so I was happy to give this place a try with their new Mediterranean theme. We ordered at the bar. I went for the lamb sliders, while my friend ordered the chicken shawarma sliders. It didn't really seem that busy at all, and yet it took 45 minutes to be served. $17 (including tip) got me three small sliders. The lamb was dry (over cooked?), unexciting, and depressingly small: like the size of a chicken nugget. The tzatziki was pretty bland too. To top it all off, it was served on a paper plate. I mean, come on. A few of my friends ordered "pints" of beers, which appeared to actually be 12oz pours. On the plus side, they had self-serve cucumber water...although that ran out. TL;DR: overpriced, underwhelming, poor service. I won't be coming back. Edit in response to Falah's comment: perhaps you're mistaking me for someone else? Stumbled by this place and decided to give it a try. So glad we did! Great atmosphere, fresh tasty food and the owner and his staff are very personable and friendly! We started with the homemade Dolmas. They melt in your mouth! Amazballs! I then has the Kofta Bowl. Mmm! Friends had one of their tasty burgers and the Shawarma wrap. All of us loved our meal! The Foxtail has tons of craft beers on tap, and their drinks are unique and taste amazing. The food is on another level, they have traditional burgers, as well as hummus and shawarma for a different taste than I'm used to in Santa Barbara. Food was delicious! We came in at about 10:30 pm on a Wednesday after a concert at the bowl. We were hungry and wanting a sit down relaxed meal before the drive home (no drive thru) first impression was great. Very clean with dim lighting and candles on each table and string lighting. I love it! Also, great playlist of music going. The food was delicious! We ordered the Hummus and Pita as an appetizer. The taste was very authentic, fresh and delicious. I ordered the shawarma plate which was absolutely delicious. There was a somewhat strong taste of dill (which I absolutely hate). With that being said it was still amazing. My only disappointment is they do "meat of the day". I prefer beef however that is served on Thursday's. All in all delicious and I would definitely come back! read more

Cool chic space. Lots of local beers on top, but mostly mediocre. Mediterranean food was good, but not phenomenal.

They have some fun and unique things on tap that you can't usually find in other bars. For instance, when I went they had a new bootchcraft flavor that I have never seen in other sb bars. Also it has a nice chill vibe to the place. Only downside is it's a little pricy. However, the environment is worth it. Super relaxing. read more

Tucked just off of State St, on Cota, you'll find tasty Mediterranean & American fusion food at Foxtail Kitchen & Bar. First off, Foxtail has an incredible selection of beers on tap. Their draft beer selection is larger than Lama Dog with 24 taps. The beer menu rotates frequently. On my most recent visit, it was pretty IPA centric, if that's your thing. I love a great IPA but my go to tends to be bourbon barrel aged ales and stouts. I'd love to see a couple of those on the menu. They also have ciders and sours, quite refreshing on a hot afternoon. Formerly the home of beloved burger joint, American Ale, Foxtail kept most of American Ale's burger menu. Yes, you can still satisfy your PB&J Burger hankering! I also highly recommend the American Burger and the Firehouse Burger. I do suggest venturing out of the comfort of their amazing burgers and trying some of the Mediterranean dishes because they are really good. I love the Kofta Wrap with Pickled Veggies (I always add olives) and the hummus. I've also heard great things about their falafel and the chicken shawarma. Foxtail has a daily happy hour and full bar. They specialize in craft cocktails with fresh ingredients. They're open for lunch, dinner and late night. They also have TVs playing live sporting events when applicable. I love coming here for lunch because it's still under the radar and a great place to get a delicious, quick, affordable meal with fabulous customer service in Downtown Santa Barbara, ... until this review that is, perhaps?
