He pulled on the leash, barked at the door, and had bouts of aggression when he didn't get his way. I felt uneasy having guests over because I felt like I had no control over my dog. Basically, my dog owned me.. not vis versa. He did ~2 weeks of the board and train program at SMS Raleigh and even though we were nervous to send him away (it felt like forever!), we loved getting bi-weekly updates from his trainer and seeing his progress. Training Ollie will always be a work in progress but the biggest different we have seen is that HE LISTENS! Hallelujah. My friends come over and say they see a huge difference in him - he's calm, sweet, and charming. He is still a dog.. he does bark at the mailman, and sometimes pulls on the leash, but if we correct him, he is happy to obey. I also love the fact that we have free access to the group classes 2x a week and have the opportunity to continue training him. Overall, we are very happy with his progress and we are dedicated to continue training him with the SMS methods.

Colby the owner explained it best to me when he said "It's not about punishment, it's about attention and boundaries. Dogs want to please their owners, so once you have their attention their instinct takes over and training becomes easier. The strides and response to this training are remarkable. So pleased with the results so far. I am happy and more importantly my dog is happy. We have only had 3 private whole day training sessions, and tonight we will attend our first group training. Looking forward to this as it can only help build on the foundation established in the private 3 lessons. The training is not inexpensive, however it cheaper than replacing carpet not to mention several pairs of shoes, baseboards ETC. Ryan gave us great advice and provided the "why" behind a lot of the dog behaviors we are seeing as well as specific steps we could take. He even gave us advice on helping our anxious border collie during thunderstorms which wasn't even on our list of things to tackle. I missed the class prior due to an emergency, but there was no follow up note providing guidance on what was learned and what to practice to prepare for the next week. The room was too small for the number of dogs they had. Get ready for long winded explanations and very little practice at the training. My puppy got bored a lot. It's asking a pup a lot to just sit there when there are so many other dogs in the room. I only attended half of the classes I paid. A webinar could've been just as effective.

I've enjoyed meeting the other dog owners as well as their dogs. I also feel that it's a safer place for my dog to play, as I've gotten to know the other owners and their pups. I also appreciate that the trainers are present during the playtimes to facilitate safe interaction between the dogs. I'm looking forward to putting my pup into more challenging classes like Agility and learning more obedience skills. The classes are all over the board so it's difficult to follow a training program if you have a standard work schedule. When an interaction between 2 dogs became reactive and both owners asked for an immediate approach to handle we were told that was done in the advanced class. So instead of helping to resolve an immediate issue it became a money grab. Overall, it's a good place to start for a puppy. It was a nice introduction to agility and some early trick training. The downside for me, was as my dog mastered the recall, sit and wait, leave it, the basics, there didn't seem to much else to do.

Pamela is the best!!! I just adopted a second dog this week. My new dog Chance has been through a…read moreterrible tragedy in his life. His owners were killed in a double murder. There were three dogs in the home when it happened. One of the dogs was also shot and killed. Chance and his brother Champ survived the attack and were taken to an animal shelter in rural NC where they have been for the last month. I felt compelled that I need to adopt one of the dogs so they would know love once again. A good friend of mine is looking to adopt Chance's brother. I reached out to Pamela after I had a disaster in trying to crate train Chance. She was able set up a consultation in a very timely matter. She was so kind and you can tell she really cares about helping Chance make the transition to his new home. I really can't say enough good things about Pamela, she is a special person for sure. She has helped lift a huge weight off of me knowing we can work through things with Chance as he gets used to his new home and his second chance at love in his life.

Our puppy was just under 1 year old when we sent her to Jonathan and I could not be more pleased with the results. I was wrong about sending her as now she is much calmer and actually listens to us sometimes. Well more often than not. Neither of us had any experience with owning and training a dog before so this was truly a Godsend. Zoey now listens to basic commands and Jonathan worked with both of us on how we need to do things with her so that we are consistent and this is how we get her to do the commands that she had learned. Continuing education is a part of the program and is included and we will be taking advantage of these classes as we continue to learn about the right way to train our dog. I highly recommend both Jonathan and the entire Dog Camp Training Staff but we are bias to Jonathan as he is the man.

She's only been home for a day but i can tell such a huge difference. She is less reactive, more respectful, and so open to commands and direction. Angie and Kersti were amazing with her and did everything i asked and more! They were so sweet and patient with her and were so knowledgeable of her breed and her needs. I got a report card and video at the end of her camp and both were very thorough. I also LOVED the constant posts and emails of how she was doing since i was missing her immensely!! When she came home both trainers spent almost two hours with us teaching us everything she learned and how to do some leash drills. I could see their level of care in every aspect of her training and i am absolutely thrilled!! I can't wait for group classes and for continuing education :))

But I wanted to talk to someone because one of my dogs was in diapers and I wanted to make sure she was taken care of, so I went in. The person at the desk said it would be fine, they had lots of experience and they would send pics everyday. So I left thinking they would be well taken care of, especially after reading the great reviews. After the first day when I hadn't received pictures, I called to see if they were ok and if I could get pics. I was assured they were fine and they sent pics. The next day, nothing. I had to call everyday to see if my dogs were ok. I didn't get pictures everyday like I was promised. When I did get pictures the one time I asked why my dogs were together, in a small enclosed space, with no other dogs. I had asked that my one dog get to go out and play with other dogs, but they didn't do that. They said they wanted to keep them together, although I had explained that my older dog in diapers wouldn't have cared. I began questioning whether anything I asked had been done. We paid over $1,000 for a week and don't feel that the service we received was worth it. There are lots of great reviews here but we can't add to them.
