As the Black Friday weekend comes to a close, I decided to drop by Petsmart to checkout their aquariums, fish and accessories. We have been wanting an aquarium for years now having grown up with an aquarium in our home. However, they have never been at an attractive price point for the size. PetSmart's aquariums on sale ranged from $11.99 for a super small one to $649 for a large aquarium. PetSmart has a large assortment of fish and plethora of aquarium accessories (reefs, houses, and other items). It has been a very long time since I went to PetSmart and had forgotten how many other items they also carry. Examples include pet toys, guinea pigs, cockatiels, parrots, pet Christmas wear, etc. The store was pretty crowded and no store associates were readily visible. In addition, there were long lines forming at the cash registers. It appeared they were having an up to 50% off sale on selected items, which could be the underlying reason for the crowded store. I will return when there is less people in-store and associates available to assist. read more

Steve Garcia is a pet trainer at Petsmart on research Boulevard. I would like to recommend him to anyone looking for a pet trainer. He has a very calm demeanor, and is great with animals. I took my dog to him for 24 weeks total, including beginner, intermediate, advanced, and therapy dog training. His help and guidance has been amazing. My dog is now a therapy dog. I highly recommend him for anyone looking for a dog trainer, I don't know where I'd be today without him. He has classes and one on one availability. I get comments all the time on how well behaved she is. The other day I was asked if she was a service dog. If you were looking for a person to help you meet your goals look no further. Our pets are our greatest joys and little heartbreakers too. Moxy was 15 years old in October and passed away yesterday. She was a loving light in a house of all girls. As she aged she was maybe not as beautiful as she was in her younger years but April made her feel like a puppy every time she had a spa day with her! April is genuinely the kindest person I've ever met. I say that sincerely and with great awe for the human she chooses to be. She cares so deeply for animals; especially senior dogs. She gives them love, attention, levity and dignity. She used to take selfies with Moxy which just warmed my heart and touched my soul. Moxy passed on a Sunday, at home, so my regular vet was not open. I called Banfield and even tho Moxy was not a patient on record they treated us with warmth and kindness like she'd always been theirs. April was in the grooming room and I told a colleague about Mox in case April wanted to say goodbye. April rushed to us with such sincere compassion and concern. April was Moxy's friend and I felt truly blessed Mox got to say goodbye to such a beautiful human. April's hug gave me the strength i needed to say goodbye to my sweet girl. I say all of this to remind us who's there for us when our pets are thriving but also who is there when we face our beloved animal's end. I cannot recommend April as a gift to your pet with more heart because she absolutely stole mine! Please remember to tip your dog's groomer the way you do your own stylist, they are so humble they never expect it but they deserve a reward too! Something was done to my dog. I picked him up from grooming... he was hacking, nervous, he's acting detached and unsociable. From his rectum down is red. In other words he seems to be in pain. He's never been like this after grooming before today. Bluu is calm mannered and not aggressive. What could have happened? It was just shampoo, flea and tick preventive treatment. Placed an order online for pick-up/curbside. Website is going through an update, so confirmation email did not come immediately. Eventually I got the email and received note my order was ready for pick-up. Communication and directions to store was easy and convenient. Tried logging in via their app, did not have button to state I was here in front of store so I called them instead. The staff member answered the phone in a timely manner and came out with my order fairly quickly. I love Petsmart and love them even more as they have Disney100 dog and cat toys. I'm pleased with my purchase and my time at this store. Will definitely come again and use curbside service. read more

PetSmart always does an amazing job with my little Chihuahua, nari. Nari is a rescue from Austin pets alive, and she is very timid, shy and afraid of the grooming process. But, the folks at Petsmart are so gentle and understanding with her. Plus they do an amazing job in her grooming process. I have noticed that at other places that I have sent her , she comes back, very anxious and scared, but she seems to enjoy her time with the grooming team at Petsmart that's why I come back. Their team always offers what's most needed and don't try to upsell me in any things that she may not need. One thing in particular was her nails which I had told them that she is very particular about and they still did an amazing job to cut them as short as possible. when I picked my girl up their team went through and discussed how the grooming process went when they should schedule the next appointment and just how proud they are of Nari's improvement. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. This is the SECOND time they've completely shaved down my dog. The way he's missing practically all of his eye lashes. After the first "accidental" shave down I gave them another chance just for them to do it again. And the way you can't even reach someone to report them is ridiculous. Very easy to pick up online orders curbside or in store. Curbside is in front of the store with reserved spaces marked with instructions to check in. In store you immediately encounter the pick up notification stand where you press a button to let them know you are there. When I arrived and did this, I was greeted quickly. My name was taken and my order was retrieved. It was securely packaged with my receipt stapled outside. I was able to leave quickly. And I did not have to walk very far into the store. read more

Animal Abusing "Groomers" Beware This location has been a miss for quite some time now but today they were a total bust. Our friendly little rascal came back scared and trembling uncontrollably. To make matters worse Cassandra M couldn't wash the grease behind his ears or coat. I would rate the haircut if he had gotten one. Seems like all that was done was we had our dog thrown into a kennel after a quick wash. They had the gall to tell us that our bill would receive a fee for our dog being "aggressive" in the kennel if it happened again. Our dog has been groomed with PetSmart and other locations for almost the entire 2 years of his life and never has anyone ever complained or even mentioned our dog acting out in a kennel. read more

First time cat mom, and I was a bit nervous going in to the store. I tried going to a different location earlier in the day, but I was ignored by all the staff and nope-d out of there. Came here hoping I could talk to someone who would help me choose the right stuff for my new family member, and I was not disappointed~! I was helped by a store employee by the name of Blaine, who was super kind and patient in answering all of my questions, from picking the recommended food and litter to picking out toys. I know I was here one year ago but now my Shorkie is almost two and weights all of eight pounds eight ounces. We still love Pets Mart but she has found herself a great, fantastic groomer Nathaniel ( Nat) and she has been looking oh so good. She had her spa day yesterday and teeth are clean, nails trimmed, hair perfect, loved her oatmeal bath and came home with two red bows that are still in as of right now. Love all the people there, they all talk to you, they all are friendly from walking into the store to the guys stocking the shelves. Great place to shop and get your furry kid looking perfect. My request was, "I need a foolproof straight jacket for Houdini here!" Darnell talked with me about harnesses in general and then explained in what way the one I ended up buying was different. And then he helped me with fitting it properly on Jack aka Houdini. Then a big dog walked past. Jack, aka Houdini, did his best to twist out of the harness with no luck. No more Houdini!! First off .. The lady who was working the register in the front was super helpful and kind. However the manager I guess ( short Hispanic guy with glasses ) was extremely rude and had an attitude. My friends and I came in at 5pm (they close at 6) . We loaded a basket full of supplies for a Gerbil my friend was going to buy. When it came time to check out the cashier called the guy from front office to come help us ! (Waited 15 minutes to receive help) . 5:35 comes around and we can hear him yell from the office "I'm not doing any more small animals !!! " . Like dude chill tf out because it's not that serious . He then goes on to say we are closing in 30 minutes and it's just me and her working here and I'm not doing any more small animals. You mean to tell me you won't do your job for the last 30 minutes ???? How hard is to box up a gerbil . We literally stood there waisting time to be helped for 15 minutes !!!! Took my dog to be groomed, spent over 70.00 and it does not look or smell like he was even bathed. They said they gave him a puppy cut and he was too active to give an adult cut.my dog is two, he's used to being groomed. They also kept him from 11am till 4pm, to look THE EXACT SAME. Initially I was just going to never go back and take the L, but I want to save other people money. Spend the extra money and go to a decent groomer. read more

This was the worst experience my dog ever had . He's been going to PetSmart grooming for last 2 years or so and this time at this location, April called me ten times regarding he is not behaving or he is itching or he is drooling or he has too many scares that it's hard to work on him . Apparently, they Cut him too many times or nicked him too many times that he was emotionally scarred actually. He was bleeding in areas that clearly and obviously was nicked with trimmer. This review is specifically about the grooming salon and is based on my expectations which were definitely exceeded. To be honest I was surprised to see negative reviews about the grooming salon because I have now been 3 times and all were great! On easy dogs: my dog is a ray terrier mix with pretty short hair but I like to get him shaved in the summer to help keep him cool and avoid eating all his hair that starts falling out like crazy by about may each year. I don't really care how he looks just want him to be cool but he turned out looking very nice. On sketchy dogs: I have taken my parents dog twice now and she is very scared and unpredictable. I scheduled her with Kelley both times because she did such a great job making her feel relaxed and I was just happy she didn't get aggressive, bite someone and then get banned :) read more

Very Nice. I had a Great experience here. I adopted a Beautiful Cat... Clementine... your Staff was Awesome... Helpful. She had a small problem leaving. Once in my truck she rode well for 45 min trip. The Girl was a Trooper. I got Her Home. Spent 30 minutes with her. I left Clementine in my apartment to explore... by herself for 2 hours. "Petsmart in general is pretty great, the employees here need to know their stuff better." I love Petsmart and the whole "Pet Perks" thing they have going on. You just have to wait for them to run specials and you can get some pretty good deals on accessories, food, treats and toys. Yes, you can find some of these things cheaper at Walmart, Target, Academy (yes they have a pet isle), and HEB. However, the natural foods and treats are priced reasonably here compared to most. Not to mention the awesome clearance bins that my dog seems to stick her nose in when I bring her. It's like having a child asking "mommy can we buy this?" and trying to say no to that adorable face. The downside to this Petsmart is the employees...not all, but most. The ladies at the front are always friendly with a greeting and a smile. I hope you don't need advice or help because they really need to work on having employees that know what they're talking about. I've had multiple employees say "that might be a good one". Might? Well since you're so sure I'll buy 4. How about the occasional employee that looks at the product description like they're going to gather more information than I did. This store is close to home, there's always friendly pets and owners here, so I will keep coming in. I think I will just stray from asking questions. read more

I needed a Ceramic Heat Emitter and PetSmart had the good brand version of it in stock with different wattages to choose from. Sure, it cost about $12 more than Amazon, but this is the price you pay for instant gratification. While searching for this bulb in the store, I wandered through the fish and reptile aisles. They sell everything under the sun from aquarium cleaning equipment to dog gates. When I first walked in, a staff member greeted me and asked if I needed help finding anything. The cashiers are friendly and make small talk with customers (which adds to the time it takes to check out customers). Some nights there is only one checkout lane open. The more baths he has in life, the more petrified he becomes. So, in his 3rd year of life, his options were waning: professional groomers, other petsmarts, and myself quit trying at some point, afraid we would permanently scar him. Groomers would call me after 10 min and tell me he was shaking violently in a corner. ENTER KATE. my fairy dogmother. After a year and a half of failed bathing attempts, I had my doubts. BUT. she listened to two simple things i mentioned: he's sensitive to sound and responsive to positive reinforcement. I wish I could give this store Zero stars. The only reson for that is that the grooming salon did the wrong haircut to my puppy. I requested they redo so. They "gladly" did it but buy the time to schedule grooming again, I was told that my account had been "red flagged." To prevent the groomer from seeing my pet again. Putting a red flag on a customer when the fault was the groomer makes Petsmart look very poorly regarding customer service. Save yourself time and take your pet somewhere else. read more

I have tried coming here twice in the past few weeks and both times were at 8pm and NO ONE WAS THERE. The door and online says it is open til 9pm. When I went to go pick up my dog, I was aggressively, verbally attacked by the groomer in front of everyone in the store telling my that my dog was too crazy for them to cut his nails and then accused me of not petting him enough. Then had the audacity to tell me if I come back next time they will need to charge me double! DOUBLE? I should have gotten a refund! I don't have the easiest dog to groom, but he is only 1 year old and has energy. I would be nervous if some random person was coming at me with scissors too! Came here to look for a surgery cone for my newly adopted cat. They didn't have any available for cats (which kinda sucked) but the lady who was helping me was accommodating and asked for advice from another associate (not sure if the other associate was a manager? She was tugging him around, yanking his chin hairs, flipping his body around to reposition him, and was super rough shaving his paws too! They tore our Yorkie up pretty badly. I honestly tried to look beyond this but she has open wounds on her front armpit and several scrapes on her stomach. I went in there on Wednesday, 10/26 for an 8am appointment. They got me in quickly enough and there was no hassle with that. This was the first time that we brought our own shampoo and they told us over the phone that this wasn't a problem but when we got there they added 7 dollars to the bill. When we got our dog (Molly) back that afternoon, she couldn't stop running around the house. We thought she was just nervous or something to that effect but after 2 days of it, I sat her down and looked her over. Turns out she was just cut up badly on her underside. We'll never take her there again. And on top of it, my wife said that both groomers were very cold and rude to her when she came to pick up Molly. I don't have their names and my apologies for the classification but both were heavier set Hispanic females and one had a number of tattoos. Again, not saying they were bad people but they are definitely horrible groomers and they don't need to be working there. read more

I have a dog that I get shaved once a year for the hot summers in Austin. I have asked around and never had any good suggestions as to where to take him. I started booking appointments with PetSmart Grooming because they are a well known company and I never dreamed I would have any trouble. I have been many times and have had different 'issues' each time, but the last time I took him there was the last straw. They gave me an estimated time that he would be ready to pick up - so I called about that time to see if I could come pick him up. When the lady answered the phone, I asked when will "Rover" be ready? She yelled out "Who has Rover?" Nobody answered and there was an awkward silence. Then I heard someone say... "you do." She didn't even know she had my dog right in front of her???!!!! I blew it off (sort of) and asked when he would be ready to get picked up. She said it would be another hour or two. He had already been there for 5 hours. No problem, I'm flexible. When I finally went in to get him - they charged about $30 more than I had been quoted... but once again, I am flexible and understand that things can change. When I got home, my dog was acting very skittish and much different from his normal excited behavior when he comes home with his summer shave. I started looking at him and realized that the entire underside of his belly, legs etc had razor burn. He was in so much pain he wouldn't come out from under the bed unless I dragged him out for two days. I will NEVER take my dog back to PetSmart... for anything... ever. Don't tell the people at Petsmart.... but I walk my dog here at least once a week just so he can mingle with other dogs. Not that I don't occasionally buy something.... If you want to buy some pet supplies there are cheaper places (HEB, Target, The Dollar Tree..... uh, Walmart) but since this place is so close to home I don't mind paying a few extra cents for convenience. There are always lots of dogs there, and it's a good sized store, not too big. They have a veterinarian, groomer, and pet training...... I haven't tried any of them, but its nice to know they are there. read more

Another 1 star, all thanks to the Grooming Area. I also took in my Cocker Spaniel to get groomed. She loves to swim so her ears get tangled easily. As soon as you go in, they ask you to look at rug samples and tell them what length you want your dogs hair....seriously? My dog isn't a carpet. I left with light expectations... literally told them "just make her look beautiful, and not stupid." Kindly, giving them more leniency to do whatever.. well I get a call when she's done saying they can't handle her anymore because she gets too stressed out.. "She gets too stressed out" - She's a rescue, DUH she gets stressed out! "She's not comfortable and always moving" - IT'S YOUR JOB TO MAKE HER COMFORTABLE "She peed and pooped the whole time" - She's a dog! That's what dogs do! "She's kennel aggressive" - That's just a lie As if they've never witnessed such behavior from a dog before. Lazy workers who can't handle dogs shouldn't be working with them. read more

I have taken my dog here for 3 years every 2 months to get groomed and have never had a problem. Recently i adopted a new dog who was abused and needed to get her nails trimmed. I took my first dog in for grooming and when i went to pick up took the other to get her nails done. I stressed that she was very skittish, that they should put a muzzle on her, and offered to stay and hold her while they did this. They said no need and would call me when finished. 2 minutes later i was back in the salon where the dog had bitten the groomer. They did not heed any of my warnings and told me that she was not allowed back. I am sorry that she did bite but i gave fair warning that should could/would. When i called about this i was very rudely spoken to and when i said i wouldn't be bringing any of my dogs back i was told "fair enough, anything else?" Spend a little more and support a local business rather than giving to a company that doesn't care or care to listen. read more
