avoid this dump at any and all costs !! my poor dog had either been mistreated here or they restrained very wrong. I picked him up from the grooming salon and I had the whole story how he was a little snappy when it came to certain parts of the grooming . not to mention he's never been to this Petsmart before . so I take him home and he's very jumpy his usual self (he stays in a kennel when I'm not home) & leave back to work & I come home to where he can barely walk & is very nervous and is yelping to anytime he makes a sudden movement. so I call his vet and they told me to bring him early the next morning to see what's going on. so the next morning I get him up to go and he is still struggling to walk & is yelping to anytime he moves too fast. I'm still worried because he's yelping the car ride there . I get there 7am they take look at him and tell me that he's had trauma to his neck & shoulders at that moment I feel so bad as if who would do this to a poor dog? my vet had told me a story as her dog had a accident one time too & it takes a while for the pain to come in that's why I didn't notice it as I had picked him up from them. it's sad to hear it .my poor baby was prescribed 3 different medications to relieve his pain in his neck area. all I can say about this situation is that you never know what happens behind closed doors.. read more

Ugh. This place. I want to like it, I keep going back; giving them second and third chances, but... nope. We've got a bird, bunny and dog, so obviously a large part of our income goes toward animal supplies. This is the closest place to our home and very convenient to get to but theres a few issues: -Large quantities of food/bedding/ect are ALWAYS OUT OF STOCK! They never know when they'll get more- never offer rainchecks on items that are on sale or can recommend something comparable when we are in a pinch. -SO UNHELPFUL or maybe lack of training? I now avoid asking questions, because no one ever knows the answers. (i.e., I bought a salt lick for the rabbit- it didn't have a price on it since it was in a bulk area, so I told the cashier what it was and how much, she then looked at me like I was crazy and continued to flip through the SKU book, not even knowing what she was looking for. Five minutes, a line of angry people and four associates later, they rang it up. Hey, I tried to help...) -No no on grooming! We took our shih tzu to get groomed, asked for a moderately long cut (a 4? idk, but it was a clean up trim, not full on shave). Anyways, we got him back and he looked like a piglet. Totally shaved, skin red and irritated, and all the groomer said as "I didn't think his hair was that thin". Hmm. We had a naked and embarrassed dog in the middle of winter who is still patiently waiting for his hair to grow back. Yes, this is your standard PetSmart, but it sucks there are no other pet stores around, especially when this place has such sub-standard service, lack of goods and trained staff. read more

Carol the fish department (who has "helped" me with crickets) is RUDE. So absolutely rude. Worst personality ever. I've had the displeasure of encountering her twice in this store. The first time she refused to get me crickets because they were "closed" even though the store actually was open for 10 more minutes. This time, she refused to be nice to me and borderline ignored me with every attempt I had to be pleasant with her. That lady clearly hates her job and doesn't need to be working here. read more

I went in last night to the groomers asking for a simple nail trimming. Not only did they sit there and make me wait for 15 minutes, but after finally speaking with us they turned us away. The lady who dealt with us was VERY rude. I will not be returning to this location. read more

I have been shopping at this Petsmart for a couple of months, since my kids bought me a chameleon from here for Mother's Day. The employees are always very nice and super helpful. But today I had a crap experience with Wes. I tried to exchange a bottle of calcium spray made by Zilla because it stopped pumping after five or six sprays. I assumed that I could just exchange it for another since I hadn't used it but five pumps. But Wes said it wasn't on my Petperks record which only goes two months back. He said he could give me a discount on another one for 20% off. I am disappointed and have sent an email to Zilla. But I really don't appreciate the lack of customer service from Wes. I tried to make a grooming appointment and different people kept calling me to change the appointment. It was bizarre.

I am updating this to 4 stars because the staff is consistently nice, helpful, and funny!

We took our dog for simple grooming. My wife thought it odd that she saw 3 groomers crowding our dog's table, because she is the most still and obedient dog we have ever known. She also thought it was odd when they took her to the back room for a long time, but she didn't ask any questions because the groomer brought her out, smiled, and said everything was fine. She even complimented her on how well she behaved. We found out when we got home that they cut 5 nails to short and drew blood. They also cut her face under the eye where they pulled out hair trying to clear eye boogers. I understand that those hairs can be stubborn, but all they had to do was tell us. We didn't notice until she was home relentlessly licking her paws with a bloody scab on her face. The manager offered a refund. Nothing else can be done because neither of those are fixable, but it absolutely disgusts me that they didn't tell us on pick up. They know exactly what they did and they did their best to hide it, assuming we would not find out. Shame on you, Petsmart. I have pictures of my dog with a bloody face and I'll be posting them everywhere I can think of. read more

We take our dog here for grooming, and we really like them. No matter which groomer gets him, he always looks great and we get great feedback. Our dog has a history of seizures, and some groomers won't take him because of that. PetSmart warns you that they will take him to the vet if he has a seizure, but they take him. They are great about his aversion to having his nails trimmed, and they get it done well every time. They must be great to everyone because they are booked as far in advance as my own hairstylist! read more

I will never return here for pet grooming due to my last visit. I dropped my dog off at 4:55pm for his 5pm grooming appointment last Thursday. The Petsmart team member who would be grooming my dog, Jill, was not present, so I gave my grooming request to the young man who was trying to groom a dog and service two customers as well. I left my dog to be groomed. At 7:30pm, I called Petsmart to get an estimated time of when my dog would be ready for pickup as I knew they closed at 9pm and needed to run a few errands. I was told to come at 8:30. I arrived at 8:30 to see the groomer had JUST started grooming my Australian Shepherd. Long story short, I left the store to kill some time and was in a minor car accident that delayed me getting back to the store at 9:02pm. I walked in and immediately apologized only to be told by Jill "Next time, remember we close at 9pm". Excuse me? I apologized again and rushed to get out of this store. I was rushed out so fast it wasn't until I got home that I realize HALF of my dogs fur was NOT CUT during the grooming!!! There is almost an exact line where she ran out of time and stopped grooming my dog. I also paid an additional cost for the Pawdicure to get my dog's nails filed down. They are still as long as ever!!! Almost $90 later and I have a dog who is half groomed. I reached out to Petsmarts customer service team and was offered 2 $10 off your next grooming service that expire at THE END OF THIS MONTH. I was also told I would be contacted my the manager of the store. 1) I will never return to ha e my dog groomed here and 2) I still haven't heard back from the store manager, & 3) I will have to take my dog to another groomer to fix this terrible chop job. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE and an absolute rip off. I might as well have flushed $80 down the toilet, that would have been a better use of this money than the half ass haircut my dog received. The people working the front desk at the grooming area are very polite and friendly. Took my dog in for a nail trim and grinding, and paid while it was being done. When I came back in, they told me that they could not finish the nail trim and could not do the grinding because he was too stressed. The groomers were not very polite, and were obviously angry and defensive before I had even said a word. I understand that my dog was nervous, but I am disappointed that they did not even finish the nail trim. (When they were paid for a nail trim and nail filing/grinding) read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG TO GET GROOMED HERE. The petsmart grooming staff has no idea how to cut the different types of fur for specific dog breeds. I took my American Eskimo here and she came out looking like a poodle. Her head and tail were poof balls while the rest of her body was shaved to the skin. They are not professionals, and should not be taken as one. When I came in to get a refund, the staff was talking smack about a previous customer they had. Customer service is terrible. They didn't apologize, and couldn't argue any valid point so the manager had no choice but to refund my 50$. read more

If you want a real review, read this one. This was the most impersonal, sales-oriented visit I've ever had at a vet clinic. Did not feel they cared about me or my dog. Started trying to upsell services as soon as they walked into the office, including tests not yet due. Could not find information from previous visits on specific issues. Did not call the day after to check on my pet after vaccinations, like other clinics do. Not sure if it's corporate or the local store pushing sales, but I have used Petsmart for years (in other locations) and will never use them again. read more

I went to pet smart today for a nail trim, my regular vet being booked for the weekend, I have a 8 year chihuaha mix breed, after filling out the proper paper work a grooming dept employee proceeded to "drag" my dog across the floor with the leash they use after I told her she will not go that way, I tried to show said employee how to pass my dog to her gently like a football but she would not and seem to not know how to do that, this is a common practice I do very successfully with my regular vet. Needless to say i removed their leash and walked out. If you have a stubborn or dificult dog don't go to pet smart,they have no experience or training in these matters. read more

I took my dog for the first time last week for a bath and nail trim. The receptionist in the salon seemed annoyed that she had to walk to the front of the store to pick up the shot records that were being faxed. Also, she was very rude in pulling my dog in to go into the other room. Instead of talking to him and not making him feel more scared than he was, she yanked his leash and just dragged him inside. WIll not be bringing my dog back to this location, if at all to another Petsmart! They really shouldn't have someone like her working the frontlines. read more

For reasons I completely do not understand, this store refuses to stock frozen rodents. I understand that reptiles are a smaller market but they have the space, their freezer even has the price tags for them, they just let it sit empty. It's not even a shortage issue since the pet smart in sunset valley is always in stock. It's just ridiculous! read more

I used to live in south Austin and I have taken my pekingense dog to the groomers at this location and have been very happy with the professionalism of the groomers, I have moved and since I was visiting family in Austin this weekend, I made an appt for my dog to get groomed at the South Park Meadows location of Petsmart. I got there at 8am and I was greeted by a guy, he checked the log and my groomers name was "PATTI", he called into the back area and finally 4 minuutes into the wait "PATTI" appeared. She pulled up my dogs record and started suggesting I have his tail cut a different way, his collar cut, I stopped her and said , I want exactly what they did last time done again nothing changed. At approximately 10am, "PATTI" called to let me know that Stephen was ready and that he had acted very bad during the trimming of his nails, that she suggested I take him to a vet next time to be groomed. I picked up Stephen and all he wanted to do was get out of that store, while I was trying to get my ticket for services, she questioned my 3 times on his age that he was older than what I said she was, she was very rude and abrupt. After I got home 1 1/2 hours away, I looked at my dog and relaized he had a huge razor burn down the center of his back, then on further checking she had cut his tail the way she wanted where all you could see was his butt, and she had mutalited his collar, I called her supervisor and the supervisor wanted me to bring my dog back so she could look at him, needless to say I wasn't driving back to Austin and certainly NOT ever taking him back in to that store. "PATTI' is a terrible groomer and has a bad attitude! DONOT use this store for your dog grooming needs. read more

Oh wow! Please be very careful about taking your precious pet to this grooming salon. Twice now I have had horrible experiences. First was the cut, it was all uneven and my 8lb. Yorkie looked tacky. Today I took her to have her nails trimmed and the groomer (tho I would not call her a groomer) cut my yorkie's nails to short and they bleed, then she was trying to force my yorkie to hold still when I had advised her before hand that she had just had staples removed from a incision from surgery and she complained how she couldn't get my yorkie to hold still so she had another groomer help hold her down, instead trying to reassure and calm my dog down so they could medicate the injured toenail. She wound up tearing the scab off my yorkies incision and it started to seep blood there also besides her toenail was bleeding. Another groomer tried to tell me that my yorkie wasn't in pain from the bleeding toenail that was cut to closely. Unreal. I had to take my yorkie back to the vet and have her incision rechecked and because of what they did to her she has to wear the cone around for another 5 days so as to not open the incision anymore. They are very rude, incompetent and no compassion or caring for your precious friend. Man handling a 8 pound sweet yorkie. I am never going back to that grooming salon again. read more

I have always brought my dog to this Petsmart for his groom. He is a Pomeranian and I ask for the exact same lion cut every time I take him in. Well, asking for it and getting it are two totally different things. To my disappointment I walked into the grooming room to pick up my little guy and his hair COMPLETELY shaved off. I couldn't control my immediate reaction so my emotion began to stream down my face in front of other customer. Despite feeling super upset and a little embarrassed the customer standing in front of me began to console me about my situation. I quickly found out they had messed up on her dog as well and she was also there getting her dog a re-do! There was an back handed apology given, something like...."I'm sorry it's hard to work on wiggly dogs!" But, my dog has been going here for three years and has never once had a problem or is considered wiggly. At the end of the day, I feel as though I won't take another chance on the new employees they hired for the grooming department and will take my beloved somewhere else. read more
