I dropped in there today to purchase a frozen rat for my daughter's new snake. I looked up and down the reptile isle but I could not find anything about where to find the frozen rats. I could not find any associates around to help so after 5 minutes of looking I went in the cashier line and waited another 10 minutes because there was only one cashier at the time with 6 people waiting. I got to the line and asked Neveah if they sell medium frozen rats. She told me they don't have sizes and they sell whatever is available. I told that is fine but where are they because I could not find them anywhere in the reptile section and there are no signs posted if you have any rats. She asked me did I try looking in the freezer and I responded no because I have no idea where the freezer is because I never purchased a frozen rat at PetSmart before. I asked her if she can get me one real quick and she made a face and looked at me if I was crazy for asking that question. When I realized I was dealing with a young child that has no clue about customer service or manners I asked her if she can wait a second while I run to get one real quick. She then responded that if I make it fast because she can't wait for a long time. In my head I was thinking that is why I asked you to get it because I have no idea where they are at. I then responded well I have been waiting ten minutes for you and you can wait a few seconds while I run to the freezer real quick. Then when it was time for me to pay she was making faces like I was inconveniencing her and I asked her if something is wrong. She told me no and started smirking and acting immature. I am not sure how Neveah got the job there but obviously you guys have no standards for cashiers or customer service. This is the second time I have been to this store and the customer service is dead there. I am a 50 year old man and I don't need to be dealing with little kids who don't know how to have common courtesy when dealing with customers. You guys need to get it together or else you guys are going to go out of business like all the other stores who have horrible cutomer service. Grooming review. It was the Thursday before New Year's Eve and my dog Hachi had a grooming appointment at 5:30pm. I received 2 phone calls stating that they were able to take him earlier if I can get him in. Which is great- except I was still at work in Scottsdale and needed to get to Avondale I order to pick him up and take him to pets mart. I ended up taking him there at 5pm. I'm not sure if the staff were rushing his appointment because it was around the holidays but they ended up finishing him up in an hour- normally his appointment takes 2-3 hours. When we pick him up we could see his fur was still a little damp. The next day we noticed he kept licking his groin and stretching excessively. When we checked his belly area it was so inflamed and had lesions everywhere. We think that soap wasn't completely washed off which irritated his skin. His skin is so itchy that he's getting large amounts of bald spots. We normally have a good experience but this last time I think they just wanted to go home and the service was rushed. read more

Awful awful grooming! They called us earlier asking if we could come early because the 5:30 appt we scheduled was too close to their closing. Then when we brought our dog in they were super rude & made it clear that they were going to rush the service. Then 45 min after the drop off, they call saying that our dog is fighting & trying to bite the groomer during the bath & will have to send her home wet. What a coincidence! That they can't finished the grooming & have to send our dog home before it's done. My dog has NEVER been mean to any groomer. Ever. Ever! Picked up our dog & the groomer is yelling at our dog! Had appt. today for 12:30 while I was in their parking lot they called me to cancel my appt because their groomer was not experienced. I asked if she could take the dog and let the inexperienced one take one her dogs in place. She stated "I don't want to". I then asked for the manager and she said she was. I then asked to speak to the store manager, and was told to go to the front of the store and find them myself. Assistant store manager got involved and said their was nothing they could do but offer my 25% of the service at a different store. read more

We used to shop here all the time for our pets needs. Recently, I had a troubling experience where they were very rude to me I chalked it up to the lady having a bad day. My husband just went today to use a merchandise credit we had for returning an item. The lady at the register was very rude and made him use his debit card instead because she didn't have time to run the credit because of the line behind him. Grooming review. This locations grooming staff was rude. I got there 15 minutes early and was walking into the lobby area, I guess I didn't notice the sign that said only one dog at a time. The groomer yelled "one dog at a time!" Dude RELAX tell me nicely. Dropped off my pooch and it took about 3 hours for a call back that she was ready. When I picked her up she looked clean and the couple knots she had were out. No bow, no bandana, nothing. I asked if my doggie could get a little bow for her top knot. Do not bring your dogs here! They are a bunch of kids with no patience nor do they know how to cut. They go through a two week training. Kimberly and Wendy are very rude and lazy. I don't understand how you work at Petsmart with no patience and laziness! i took my dog here one time they cut her foot and they had to take her to Vet themselves, never compensated or offered a free grooming - nothing. I tried to take my dog again on her birthday which is today and Kimberly and Wendy were so rude and lazy I got in my car and left didn't leave my dog there. It's always a problem with them Always. Maybe the young ladies should find other employment then to groom dogs because with that occupation you need to have positive energy and customer experience and they have none whatsoever. We just rescued a dog, she was abused by other dogs, and scared. She is only 1-1/2 years and 73lbs but the sweetest dog. Today was she first time getting groomed, so we told Alejandra she might be scared. At first she did not want to go even with our other dog going with her, but after she saw that we left from the groom area she hustled and went with Alejandra. Alejandra said she did just great but I am sure Alejandra's extra love and attention helped. Now, I can say our 3 dogs just love her!! If you need a groomer, Alejandra is AWESOME! It was very nice that I found all the new things for our new dog. Pink pawed collar with a match leash and other goodies. This store always has the friendliest employees. The cashier was great too. She tried to give our new one a treat, but she was too interested with the store. read more

Their grooming dept butchered my dog. Do not bring your dog here. I called them and the me has never called me back. I brought my dog in for a shave because her coat got matted (goldendoodles..it happens quick). She came back with razor burns as id they didnt oil their clippers. My family and I went in to get our son a hamster for his birthday. We gathered the cage, food, etc., and I told an associate by the name of Heather, that we'd like to get a Syrian hamster. She suggested a bigger cage than the one we were going to get because Syrian hamsters grow. I did not get upset by her "knowledge" of hamsters, but rather how she kept pushing and pushing for us to get a bigger cage that was worth $80 dollars that was for a Guinea pig. A GUINEA PIG!! She kept gloating about how her hamster lives in a 40 gallon tank, and they need to be filled half way with bedding because that's what they need according to her. I asked her what if we bought the current cage we are getting and she suggested two. Why would I buy 2 of the same size cages for one hamster if according to her they're, "too small." Her logic does not make sense. She kept gloating about her hamster in her 40 gallon tank. I have had 3 Syrian hamsters which lived 3+ years under my care with the same cage I was going to buy. I did not need her judgement, her opinion, or her bragging about her hamster. My son felt upset because he wanted the cage we were originally get but Heather decided it wasn't a 40 gallon tank. Horrible experience, horrible employee. She should give her opinion when the customer wants it. Not when she wants to brag about her 40 gallon tank for her hamster. read more

All the times I've been here, there have been people at the registers ready to help. The grooming salon employees were friendly and helpful and when I got my two dogs groomed, they looked FANTASTIC. They both got 1/2 blade trim all over, tail trim, ear and face cleaned and trimmed, bathed, dried, brushed, and they have never looked better. My girl dog got a "hallow belly" which just means her fur all over is long and just on her underside it's trimmed shorter, almost shaved. No nicks, cuts, scraps, and nails are trimmed and don't feel rough or harsh on the skin when they jump in me. read more

Have to admit that I've never been a big fan of Petsmart, but this store deserves all 5 stars!! Hubby and I found a lost puppy at a nearby golf course late Sat, and after every kind of effort to get this puppy home, I was told Petsmart vet dept will scan for a microchip! The pup had a chip, owners were called, and within 10 minutes a four month old 'Lucas' was reunited with his beautiful family with two young girls! If you happen to find a list dog, just go straight to Petsmart to check for a microchip and save all that crazy time posting on Craigslist, rescue sites, posting fliers... you get the idea! And if you haven't yet microchipped your pet, just imagine someone like me spending a huge effort to find the owner, or worse, dropping the animal at the County Shelter. Or, scanning for a chip and being reunited right away! read more

I've been coming to a petsmart for grooming since my 5 year old yorkie was a puppy, I have moved around quit a bit going to different petsmart's but I have been to this one 4 times. I have had this groomer as a groomer once before he does a good job, but my dog gets a grooming done once a month so I go quite a bit, I have never paid more then $80 for a grooming, sometimes including tip! Today I went to check my dog in and was told they needed to change the breed (an up charge of $10) on her profile because she "got bigger" and her hair is "really curly"... ? My dog has not grown since she was 2 years old and her hair texture has always been the same, never changed I didn't even know a dogs hair texture could change? I also got charged an extra $10 for dematting which I'm not too surprised about. I come to pick her up then they tell me her hair was to long and I would have been charged EXTRA for that as well, but they "didn't charge me this time" as if they were helping me out? I have never had a problem like this before. My total today came out too $100 for a bath and haircut. $20 more then what I have paid in the past. I have also pay extra for teeth brushing three times and my dog has never came back to me with clean teeth or fresh breath. I'm not gonna lie, I came in to the store already stressed out from personal issues. Then my dog urinated on the front carpet and defecated in the groomers room. My fault for not training her better or walking her enough beforehand. I was now embarrassed and stressed. I found out that I needed an appt for nails due to COVID and since I didn't need one before the virus, I just figured I still didn't need one and didn't have one scheduled. Probably not so wise on my part to make such an assumption. The staff, understandably, could not promise that I would get in but that they would try. I now felt vulnerable on top of stressed and embarrassed. Then, my dog's rabies shot had expired, so I had to look it up and that made me frustrated because I had to figure out how to find that information while at PetSmart. So I offered to step out while they help another guest. I finally find the rabies information and head back to the grooming room. Since they are only taking one customer at a time due to COVID, I wait outside the room, for maybe 5 minutes. Mind you: I am already stressed, vulnerable, embarrassed, and frustrated through no ones fault but my own really. Impatiently, I open the door and ask, "How much longer? I stepped outside when I needed extra time." To which the staff responded, "yes, but the difference is they had an appointment. It will just be a couple minutes." Which is completely rational, but I wasn't in the most rational mindset at this time, and to them I apologize. The staff was amazing. Even though my attitude wasn't. They took my dog without an appointment and got her done quickly. They were very kind and professional, despite my situation. I appreciate that they easily could have turned me away as a disgruntled customer, but they didn't. They took the time to put aside their feelings and still provide the service. I think that speaks a lot to the grooming staff's professionalism and character. Though I probably won't be back, it is not because of the staff, it is because I embarrassed myself in the store today. I thank you again. read more

So not sure what happened to them before I got them. But the ladies pamper them and dress them up like the Queen and Princess they are. I've been to the grooming salon at this Petsmart several years ago and wasn't pleased with the look of the salon. During that first visit I could also hear my dog yelping from the back. The groomers were not friendly. I vowed never to go back. So unfortunately I went back today in a pinch because I couldn't get in with my normal groomer. I took my pups for their nails and advised them that one of my pups, Phoebe, does not like her nails trimmed so she normally whines a bit and is squirmy. My normal groomer is able to manage her and soothe her and she does pretty well. So when it came time to do Phoebe one groomer held her while another groomer did her nails. They held her right next to a huge dog which was in my opinion only adding to her stress. She yelled and whined through out the process, the groomers did nothing to soothe her, just talked amongst themselves. When it came time for my other dog I told the groomer she does great getting her nails done but gets scared easily and doesn't like big dogs, to ensure they didn't place her right next to the other big dog. So they take her and clip her nails next to a smaller dog, but it still seemed stressful to put her next to a dog she didn't know. Why they didn't just place her on a table to clip I'm not sure. I also observed them brushing out one of the dogs very roughly. It was very hard to watch. I regret having to take my pups here again and will surely never go back even if I'm desperate. Horrible, hire some staff that are able to show compassionate to animals!!! read more

As far as Petsmarts go, this is a pretty good one. They have a very large selection and three times I have been helped by people to make a purchase decision. We recently took in a cat and got him set up with a litter box. When we went to buy it, there was another shopper in that area who owns some ridiculous amount of cats (around 12 or something) and she helped us find a litter that was more natural and easier on the cat if he happens to ingest any of it, good for odor control, and flushable so there is no mess to clean up. Another time we went to buy him some more permanent food since the first bag was bought on an impromptu basis when we first took him in. There was a rep for one of the lines of cat food and she explained some of the better brands and really taught us some good information and helped us get food that would best suit our new cat. Finally, we went to pick out a cat brush and had no idea which of the 8+ different kinds would be best. We narrowed it down to 3 and asked a staff person and they showed us the best one - which was the same one they use there in the grooming center. The HUGE downside of this place is that it is fairly busy and they never have enough cashiers working - sometimes it's only one and two if you're lucky. It's a good and helpful place to pick out some goods for your furry friends. read more

I would be willing to go out of my way to go to this location because the service is so much better than the other Petsmart stores in the area. Brought my dog in to get groomed for being a husky should of know to bring my dog in at 2 which was a full room and be done at 4 something had to be up. Picked up my dog and he was crying before we even said anything. Got a flea bath and came home to find a flea on him called to ask about it and got a run around with the salon manager laughing about it. My dog won't let look at he paws which they shaved upon request which worries me and asked about that they only shave the top. To call and get assurance about my dogs trip was not what happened at all instead it was the salon manager giggling on the phone. But they will pay to have the review taken off (thanks yelp) so hopefully some people are able to see it before than. read more

We like the Teddy Bear cut, so he gets it every time. I love that they keep his history on file. I can have my dad or daughters drop him off while I'm at work. The only downside is Bandit is starving when I pick him up. I wish PetSmart gave the dogs a little snack while they're visiting. I went into the store yesterday to get my dog some toys and bones and use the coupon for a free bag of dog food. When I didn't see the kind I use I asked if they had any of the 8lb bags and they did not. So i asked if I could do a rain check on it and instead of going and finding out I got an idk but you can just go to another location, which is kinda rude. So I settled and got the 4 lb bag, when I got home and dumped it in my tub for my dog it looked weird and the more I looked I saw maggots/ worms crawling around in it. I get that it was a free bag, and it could be the brand, but I have never had an issue buying this in the past and the one time I get it from petsmart seems weird. So I brought it to the managers attention and she wanted to know the name of the food and I told her, and I told her I don't expect anything in return and I don't. And I told her about the service and I got an eye roll, and yeah, okay sure. Not ONCE did she say I'm so sorry, or that's so horrible nothing. I got short short answers and kinda like I was more of an annoyance than a customer. When I first got there, there were customers so I tried pulling her aside and not showing and being loud about it out of respect for the other customers to not scare them.
