PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE ESPECIALLY FOR GROOMING!!!! if i could give this zero stars, i would. we went to get our cat salt a haircut, nail trim, bath, and eye cleaning. i was observing how each person was handling the animals and the lady named lachea i believe, she was carrying our cat by the neck even though he is not a kitten anymore, which if you're a cat owner you would know that it's completely unsafe to carry especially a grown cat like that. she basically tried to yank him out of his cage. then, i saw this other person with tattoos handle the dogs roughly. the dogs were whimpering and shaking. i had a gut feeling this wasn't going to go well but i was such an idiot to not listen to my gut feeling. lachea called and said salt was very aggressive with her. keep in mind, salt is a very sweet cat. he never gets aggressive with others and when he is groomed at home, he is gentle. so if none of this was bad enough, this is very telling about the way these people handle pets. on the car ride home, salt vomitted and was very quiet. one thing i would like to add, we had to go in the back to get salt because he wouldn't let anyone carry him back into the carrier and he was in a cage in a room that looked like a pound. i was absolutely devastated and heartbroken to see salt under this much stress. read more

I usually have had good experiences with this location, but after today I will be moving on to the new Pet supplies plus across the street. I had booked an appointment at the pet salon at 11am, why were there also 4 other customers scheduled at 11 and with the their pets for a total of 6 dogs at the same time! One customer was holding the line while her husband shopped with their dogs and I unknowingly thought she was waiting for the gentleman already inside and when he opened the door I walked in the lady started screaming at me that I cut in front her even though she had no dog with her in sight. After she berated me her husband and dogs appeared. I told her to go ahead, that seemed to shut her up and her confused husband told me to go ahead and she starts again screaming outside the door at husband and pointing her finger at me through the glass. At first was upset with her (of course she was totally out of line, but sadly there are nut jobs everywhere you go) but when I turned around there are now two more customers all with 11am appointments behind me. Why would Petsmart book multiple appointments (5 total) at the same time? I've never even interacted with more than one customer when I've dropped her off in the past. Not to mention when we picked our dog up she was still wet and didn't smell clean, which I think is due to only two staff member, cleaning 6 dogs during the same time a slot! Had an awful experience with the groomers, tried to express it to the store manager, blonde woman, who simply stared blankly at me and said "they're under stress in the grooming department" .... We're all under stress lady! It's not an excuse! I've been going to petsmart for all of my pet needs for the last 6 years, cat products, reptile products, and for my dog. Do not buy fish here. I decided to take a chance at this place because my usual pet store where I buy fish didn't have the selection I wanted. So I went here and bought a few fish. I put those fish in my 60 gallon tank I have. The next day I looked in the tank and the fish I bought have white spots all over them. They all had "White spot disease" which is a parasitic infection that can be spread from fish to fish. The disease is deadly to the fish. The new fish I bought soon all died because of the disease but not only did they die but they also gave the disease to the fish I already had in the tank. Which not only killed 100s of dollars worth of fish, but also fish I've had for many years. The diseased fish this pet store sold me pretty much completely wiped out my entire tank. The day after I first saw the disease, I went back to the store to buy a medicine for the disease, and while I was there I looked in the tank where I had bought some of the fish, and all the fish in that tank were infected with the disease and completely covered in the white spots, and a few of them were already dead. The store didn't have a sign up or anything and were continuing to sell those fish. So there is an obvious lack of care that goes into those fish and that lack of care lead to the deaths of years worth and 100s of dollars worth of my fish. Horrible experience and honestly really sad to see. read more

Stay away from Pet Smart and their deceptive products! I have a dog with dry and cracked paw toes, so I researched balms that could heal them. I saw Paw Balm and figured Pet Smart would have it so I went there. They didn't have it, but I saw a container of Top Paw Nose & Paw Balm. I figured that would work. After I purchased and started using, I discovered that the container is about 1-1/2" tall. But when I started using this product, I found that there is an interior floor that is half way down, so you only get 3/4" of product. Top Paw is made by/for Pet Smart, so they are purposely deceiving the customer in order to increase their profits. This little container cost $8.99 and wasn't even full of product as the outside depicts. To provide this little of product and charge $8.99, they can kiss my... I will no longer shop at this store that gets products made for them and design them to deceive the customer. Not a good business model, especially when I will have an easier time to purchase from Amazon for future purchases. I will wait the extra day and get quality products from reputable companies. read more

Jen, Jen,Jen!! Hands down the best groomer there. She has been grooming my mini schnauzer since she was a baby and she is so good with her. Jen is a very busy lady so book early. It's worth the wait. I gave 3 stars instead of five only because the set up there is wrong. I get covid precautions, however the groomers should be able to step outside the salon where there is plenty of space to examine the pets. This way there would not be a LINE to drop off or pick up your dog. You shouldn't have to wait behind other customers just for a simple pay and pick up. The tall guy, thin, that runs the registers in front, dark hair, longish is always on his phone instead somehow being helpful.. Again, Jen is the best.. I wish she could manage because she knows how to deal with customers. read more

Do not step foot into this location for grooming services!!! I brought my dog here for what was supposed to be a routine nail grind. After checking me in and asking me a series of questions that ive never been asked here before, this same young male, maybe 20's, took my dog back for the nail grinding. What typically takes 10 minutes, tops, took him 30 minutes! Who I assume to be the manager, went over to him when he was done and checked his work so that tells me he was new and inexperienced. He cut her nails SO shor amd there's no doubt he snipped her wick! Since walking to my car after this service my dog has been walking with a limp on one of her legs. I called after the service to complain but the damage is done. I took her to the vet and was told to give it time but if it didnt heal on its own then she likely experienced trauma to the blood vessel. It's been 2 months amd my dog is still limping. I can't even take her for long walks like I used to. Shame on Petsmart for allowing someone so inexperienced to handle amd train on our pets! My poor dog is suffering the consequences for their negligence on a daily basis!! read more

This PetSmart is average. I have been to many, many PetSmarts as I have moved around a lot and this one isn't the greatest, but also not the worst (North Carolina PetSmarts are awful!!). They do not have a banfield hospital at this location which I find very odd considering most PetSmarts do. It is extremely inconvenient for me because this one is closest to my home but now I have to travel to either the the one in Aurora or Oswego if I need to take my dogs to a Banfield. The store is pretty clean but lacks employees. It doesnt seem like anyone is ever working there and if I am shopping around I can never find anyone to help me out unless I go to the cash registers at the front. I went there this morning to drop my dogs off for a grooming appointment at 7am. I rang the bell at the front since they are not opened until 8 or 9. It took someone forever to answer the door for me. He was not in a petsmart employee uniform, had a bandana around his head, and didnt speak english. I was concerned that maybe I was entering a hostage situation because no employees were around and this guy looked like a gang banger. He walked away and went to the employee only room where he grabbed me someone who actually worked there. My nerves eased up a little bit. So, this guy tells me to hold on a minute so he can clock in. Its now 7:05. We go into the grooming area, and he tried searching through the book and told me I wasnt scheduled for an appointment. Bullsh*t I wasnt! I told him to keep looking. Fortunately I had remembered the girls name I talked to the day before and explained to him that i did in fact have an appointment and that a female was supposed to be grooming my dogs. He lolligagged for the next few minutes until another female employee showed up. The girl who was supposed to groom my dogs. It was now 7:15. The guy told her my situation and she asked me if I had my dogs rabies paperwork. Are you kidding? The girl I talked to yesterday was supposed to call Banfield and get that information before I showed up. So now I had to wait for her to get that information. It is now 7:20. Finally she took the dogs and I was out of there. I know it wasnt her fault, but it was still quite frustrating. She had apologized and thanked me for being so patient. Around 10, my husband went and picked up the dogs. They looked great and she had done everything just as we had asked. I was pleased. The prices for grooming are pretty expensive. I think it was 65 per dog for a basic bath, haircut, and nail filing. It hurts my wallet. I will continue to go to PetSmart because although it is expensive and sometimes they slip up and make mistakes when scheduling people, they do a great job on my dogs and they are friendly, especially towards my dogs. read more

I was very disappointed and discouraged after making a purchase at my local Petsmart. I have been struggling after losing my husband during Covid so I decided to get a pet. I purchased 3 goldfish from the Bolingbrook location and sadly the next morning I discovered 2 of my fish floating in the tank. My daughter called the store explaining that we had disposed of the fish. She was told to come on Tuesday when a new supply of fish would be available. I went in and spoke with the original associate who seemed incredulous that my fish were all dead. She told me if I didn't have the dead fish with me she could only replace one. I explained that my daughter had already spoken to someone and had been assured the fish would be replaced and had also been advised to buy a larger tank and let it run for a few days before adding the new fish. She still refused to replace my fish, so I asked to speak with a manager. As I compared my receipt for the fish I'd purchased with the price listed on the tanks I discovered I had been overcharged for one of the fish. After explaining everything to the manager. She interrogated me harshly about the size of my tank, the water quality and insisted I needed to buy a 20 gallon tank for 1 goldfish. She was trying to upsell me while completely disregarding that I had been overcharged for a fish and offered no apology. She then refused to replace my fish unless I let them test my tank water. I was refused service and it was intimated that I was a negligent pet owner. I left the store feeling even worse than when I discovered my beautiful fish floating in my tank. This was the worse customer service I have ever received. Instead consulting me and helping guide me through the steps of starting a new tank when I originally bought the fish, I was treated like a pariah because my fish had died after I asked to have the fish re placed. read more

I went a few times with 2 friends for both shopping & grooming. The grooming area was super crowded, really warm & busy. The staff seemed rather annoyed. I kind of felt sorry for them (although they clearly tried to be nice to customers), but moreso for the pets, as they were clearly overwhelmed by all the noise & overcrowding. It's hard enough on them to go & get groomed. The grooming is a few bucks cheaper than the other pet store down the street from them so I guess that has something to do with it. The store was clean & organized. The staff at this area was a little more helpful & approachable. I would go back to the store portion only & pay a little extra for the safety of my critters. read more

Took my dog here for a bath and nail trimming. When I picked her up she was still smelly. Nails were short but they did not grind them and they didn't brush her teeth. This place is terrible. I believed they just brushed her and sprayed her with a tangerine spray. Total waste of money. read more

We used to bring our dogs here every time they needed to be groomed and have never had a problem until last week. The groomer (Guy) cut my dog's paws in 9 different spots to the point they were bleeding and her fur is so uneven I don't understand how no one there saw anything wrong. What is normally a 2.5 hour appointment turned into them keeping my dog for 10 hours. When I asked about what was taking so long I was told this was normal. It's not normal. read more

I was driving around with my pup and decided to check out this PetSmart. As I walked in, this place seem really big and the layout of the store was very clean and nice. (Dog Section and back by the back wall). We were greeted by the cashier with a not so great sounding "Hi." I said "Hi!" back. (Years ago, I have worked at a Petsmart and the way they treat the employees are horrible).So, I cut her some slack. I was walking around the store, looking for a new collar for my pup, since she is mistakenly gets called a boy every time we are in public. Along came a (*rude*) associate who asked if he could pet my pup. I said "Yes, as long as you don't mind the jumping." He asked me about dog training? I told him that she has already had the puppy training and the following training when she was a puppy. He told me that I have to keep up with that. I was offended. My pup does great at home and at the dog park. She just gets excited when she sees other people in the store. I shouldn't have even stopped here. I should have just stayed around my house and gone to PetCo or Pet Supplies Plus. I was just driving around because the weather was beautiful today and my pup LOVES car rides. I will not be stopping here ever again. Thought that the customer service has changed, since I have worked for this company last. (2003-2004). Not very pleased! read more

I have to disagree with the previous post. I like Petsmart; after all, "it's where the pets go." I have brought my Pitbull/Lab into the store and the associates greeted me with big smiles and very polite attitudes. An associate even offered to help me find an item I was looking for, and then explained to me how to properly use it (as I was fitting him with a training harness upside down, lol). I also have two cats - another associate helped me with a few cat items while I was juggling my dog. On another trip, I brought my 8 month old son. All I picked up that time was a cheap (under $3) bag of cat treats, but I had about 15 minutes to kill before I needed to pick someone up locally, so I carried him over to the fish section and let him stare at fish. When an associate asked if she could help me, I explained to her that I was just wasting time and wouldn't be buying any fish - although, I told her that I was planning on coming back soon as I think my son might like to watch a fish or two in a 10 gallon tank. She gave me some great information about fish. She was knowledgeable and friendly. The store is clean, the pets' cages are all well kept, the items are faced and stocked, the doggy training zone is clean, the counters are organized, the store is well light, and the associates are nice. I recommend this pet store for all of your pets needs. But since the score is 50/50 right now, I guess you'll just have to see for yourself. read more

This petsmart is alright. The floors are clean, they've never run out of products I needed. My problem is with their grooming services. My brother took my 10 month old Havanese puppy there asking for a trim and for a bath. They said yes and told him it would take a few hours. When my brother went and brought home the dog, I was literally in shock. They had shaved all four inches of white fur off of my dog. As dramatic as it sounds, I was completely mortified. If you have a long-haired dog DO NOT bring it to petsmart's grooming. You will regret it like crazy. read more

Decided to go to this location to look at fish and find out more about what kind of fish needed what. My 3 year old got multiple fish tanks for his birthday and we were excited to fill his tanks with fish. Jenna (the store manager) refused to initially sell us a shark Glo fish due to the fact that we we not aware that they couldn't live with certain fish. She then proceeded to tell us what we could and could not do with our fish. She stated putting 2 glo fish in our 5 gallon tank is killing the fish and she could not let us do that. I let Jenna know that we had multiple tanks and would buy another if need be. We simply did not know. This "manager" took an amazing first experience with my 3 year old son and completely berated my husband and I in front of our excited children. Disgusted. read more

Last time I bought my dogs some Blue Buffalo I asked if there was a discount as I saw online there was they were quick to adjust the price no questions asked! I have brought my crazy dogs for their nail grinding. The one male groomer is very good and always gets their nails real nice and short! I am pleased and will return! read more

We just recently starting to come here and it is for only 1 reason - Cindy in the grooming salon! We followed her from the Naperville location to this location when she transferred. She is the only one I trust to groom our cocker spaniel. She is very knowledgeable and friendly and treats our dog with care. The grooming is always spot on- no complaints. I recommend her highly! **** 08/30/12 I am updating my original post because Cindy is no longer there. It took me showing up for a schedule appointment- them not finding it, and then not even trying to accommodate us by fitting her in. They tried to call us later and reschedule and tried to say something negative about Cindy. Poor customer service and I am sad I lost my groomer. Will not be back. read more

This review is in regards to the grooming service: 1) My dog is a boy--- he came out with ribbons on his ears. Like really? You cut his hair and gave him a bath... you didn't know he was a boy? As pretty as they were, it would have looked nicer on a girl dog. 2) My youngest dog got her haircut, bath, and grooming here. However when we picked her up, they informed us that they cut my dog's ear and belly at multiple places. We had to go straight to the animal hospital for antibiotics for her since she was cut at at least 5-6 places all close to her genital area. DON'T GO HERE FOR GROOMING unless you want to literally put your dog in harmful hands. read more

My dog has a seizure disorder. The manager at this location is well aware and has never turned us away. Today, she stated if they groom him the same day of his seizure they are harming him. So according to her they have harmed my dog for at least three years. I am calling the corporate office as soon as I calm down. read more

If I could leave ZERO stars I would. Condescending employees and so called leaders of the store. Might be pet friendly but definitely not people friendly. Employees rolling their eyes, smirking, giggling and talking about customers as if one weren't even there only when asked a simple question. I can get better treatment at McDonalds. I spoke with the manager who had a chip on her shoulder and didn't really do anything about my complaint. When I go to leave the cashier uses her headset to tell someone I was leaving the store. The manager comes up and begins to laugh with the employees who began the issues. Pretty much goes to show you are the company you keep. The manager is just as bad as her employees. I stood outside the store letting my dog potty and all three were inside gesturing towards us laughing. So unprofessional and inappropriate. It's like Dealing with children at the petsmart. Steer clear from the manager Jenna and employees Nick and Caitlin if you'd like to avoid an issue like this one. Corporate will be hearing from me. I don't know why I keep giving this store a chance. This is a great store. We moved to Arizona with two pets. We knew it was a 30 hour drive with a cat and a dog. Pet smart gave us great advice and we got a nice dog cage with a special kitty box. Is Your Pet really Safe at Bolingbrook PetSmart????? We dropped off our 6 year old English Bulldog Tank for routine grooming on 8/31/2013 around 7am. Normally, he is there for 3-4 hours due to the fact that he cannot go in the cage dryer due to his breed. Well, as the fifth hour went on with no call, we started to wonder whats going on. We received a call from someone on a cell phone advising that they are from Pet Smart and are taking Tank to the Vet because he stopped breathing. We meet the guy at the Vet and the Dr advised that Tank was blue when he arrived. Tank was diagnosed with severe heat stroke. They placed a tube down his throat to help him breathe, a sedative to calm him down and packed him in ice to bring his 107 degree temp down. They couldn't stabilize him, so he was transferred to the hospital where he took a turn for the worse. We ultimately made the decision to put him down. The Dr. advised that he was left in extreme heat for two long which caused the heat stroke. Pet Smart covered his vet bills which were in excess of 5000. The people at the local store were very compassionate and apologetic. But upon speaking to the District Manager Brian Travilla-, he advised that we should be grateful that they did that much. And that any other corporation would not have done as much. He also advised that at that point, PetSmart will not do anything else for us. He also stated that yes, Tank was left in the Kennel too long, but that's because we didn't pick him up. I advised that we have copies of phone records that no one called prior too the incident. Brian could care less, he even advised that they would do the same thing all over again. I want everyone to take extreme caution when allowing big corporations like PetSmart to care for their family members. They pretend to care. but in all actuality, they could care less. I feel bad for the young kids who work there who are not properly trained. read more

The new, blonde female manager is absolutely horrible and beyond rude. I've been in here several times before over 6 months ago and the workers were helpful. However, I went in today to get animal food and noticed that a guinea pig had a huge gash/wound on it's face. I asked a staff member about it and he hadn't known. He did show concern. When he called the manager over, I was in disbelief. She asked him if he wanted help with something for it without even looking at the animal. When she tried to walk away, I repeated to her that the animal had a large wound. She said she'd inspect it and left the other worker alone to care for the animal. The way she dismissed her staff member as well as a customer was unprofessional. Pet stores aren't the best places but I was very disappointed to see the lack of empathy for a hurt animal. Three of four visits have resulted in an ear infection - promised ear hair removal was not kept resulting in a breeding ground for infection. Until my wife's work moved, I was at a groomer in Westmont for at least five years and NEVER had a problem. Try Artistic Groomers !! read more

The first experience I had with their groomers was AMAZING!!! My Yorkie looked great and smelled like vanilla! So when I realized she was due for a grooming session, I didn't think twice about going back here with the same groomer. When I walked in they priced me over double what I paid the last time and charging me extra for something to help get out all mats in her fur. (At that point I just wanted to walk out.) I picked her up and they told me they got all her mats out with just the brush. YAY!!! When I got my dog home, I took a good look at her and they barely cut her! I asked for a puppy cut and all she got was MAYBE an evening out of her fur. Then I was rubbing her belly and found her fur still matted all over! The only good thing is when I called a manager they offered to have me bring her in to get what I asked for. Hopefully they can redeem themselves. read more

My husband and I returned home to find our little girl limping with a bloody paw. Besides the bloody carpeting, couch and car seats, we were upset they didn't even tell us she was hurt. I have heard unpleasant things about this location of Petsmart for some time now, but due to time constraints, I decided to stop here instead of going to the Petsmart I love in Darien (off of 75th). I called ahead to grooming to let them know I had a coupon and asked if I needed an appointment to get my dogs nails done. I was told no appointment was needed and the coupon was fine, so I brought my dog in. Once I was in the store I was told the coupon wouldn't work for the nails. (even though the coupon said it was for grooming!) I asked to speak to the manager and got Jenna. Well, my mother always said if you can't say anything nice... Let's just say people skills are definitely not her strong suit. I showed her my coupon, explained that I had called ahead and was told it was fine, she was bland, unsmiling, unpleasant and just plain rude! She made zero effort to understand my situation and was indifferent to my frustration. I truly feel sorry for the employees that have to work under her. I called corporate Petsmart and they were extremely understanding and sent me a gift card to cover the cost of the coupon and apologized for the unfortunate experience. Next time I will drive the extra distance to the Darien Petsmart where everyone has been fantastic. Amazing such a difference between two stores! read more
