This location is by far the friendliest, cleanest, most well stocked, and knowledgeable store I have been to. My Schnauzer Terrier Mix, Hank, loves the grooming salon. Christian is THE BEST. He is funny, gets the job done right, and is straight to the point. He suggests services, but never tries to pressure you into what you don't need. It's usually about $40.00 for a bath and haircut for little Hankleford P. Jones, believe me its a great value. i have called many salons who are far pricier, and don't do as nice of a job. This is in response to Rebecca G. about Christian in the grooming dept. I have been taking my pups to Petsmart for a few years now & I can tell you that Christian is a great groomer. My pups are not the easiest to groom & he always handles them with care. They are always clipped to my specific instructions & always look great. Having an issue with ONE dogs doesn't make someone a lazy slob or a bad groomer...it makes them human. Perhaps the dog in question was so badly matted that the groomer felt that the only solution was having a vet clip him. I also have to wonder if the client said she took her dog home & bathed & shaved it in 45 minutes, why she took it to a groomer in the first place??? Seems questionable to me! I would recommend Christian to any pet owner. He is a great groomer, friendly & always cheerful to the pets & their owners!! :) As far as Banfield, I have the pet plans for both my pups & they are stellar!! Dr. Thomas is my vet & she is great. The vet techs & front desk assistants are top notch & know their stuff. The rest of the staff in the store itself is also super friendly & always very helpful!! I love this Petsmart!! read more

I love this PetSmart! Actually this is the only one that I go to because I like it so much. Kayla is always so great with grooming my little Belle as well as Jessica and Karina. Belle always comes out looking so nice and they always check if I have any requests like teeth brushing etc. I also did the puppy training program with Audrey and she was wonderful. My Belle is 6 and doesn't have the most basic training but now she does! Audrey was very patient and worked with me a little extra a couple times since Belle does get a little nervous around other dogs in an area that's not her own. read more

This review is for the groomers! I love them all, they are all sooo so kind to my Australian Cattledog Brix! They always show him love when he comes to get dropped off for a bath! I've been to several groomers and not all show as much care as they do! His main groomer is ERIKA. She's too awesome! She always takes her time in making sure Brix is up to par when I pick him up!! i used to sit at my desk at work and hope that someone would come and visit me so that i wouldnt feel so lonely-- so i did what any other desperate person would have done. i got myself some fish :] yes, the cure all answer to my lonely desk job was to get some low maintenance friends. so after work i drove my way on over to this petsmart; the people were friendly and the prices were average. ive never really bought any fish before, so i had to have some help-- one of the employees were really nice as she patiently waited for me to pick out which ones i wanted. she fished around the tank for the EXACT one i pointed at, and i just had to pick out all of the babies :] they were super tiny! in the end, i had like 8 little baggies of assorted baby fishies in my hands-- in which she decided that i can have them for free because they were too tiny to charge me. HECK YEAH! :] what a deal. she also told me that they had a policy in which i can return any fish that didnt live past 30 days, and get a refund or a replacement. luckily i didnt have to worry about this-- all my fish grew up & even had babies themselves. im telling you-- it was freakin discovery channel up in that aquarium ;] five stars for their customer service! i walked out of there with a little bowl, some food and eight new friends :] sweeeeet. read more

Not a good place for grooming. Don't take your dog here, especially if they're elderly. We have a 16 year old German Shepherd. For a few years, Mitch was her groomer and he was fantastic. Recently she's had trouble standing for long periods, so he built her a pillow fort to help support her back legs, and tried to do the job quickly so she'd be comfortable. Yes, it was expensive ($80) but he did a good job. Mitch quit recently, but we thought that maybe they'd be able to continue the same quality of care. Very wrong. We called in advance and let them know that we'd be bringing our dog in, and she's a difficult case. She has trouble standing, and has recently had trouble controlling her bowels. It might be her last groom, but we just want her to be comfortable. With warm weather coming, we wanted a furcut, but were really needing a sanitary cut (trim her backside). The lead groomer says no problem, she's an expert with elderly pets, and she'd groom her herself for $95. We drop her off, and within twenty minutes she calls panicked because she defecated without squatting and says we need to come get her immediately. We understand she's old, and can be difficult. But we warned them, and she claimed to be an expert with old dogs. She didn't get the sanitary cut, let alone any trim, and the bill was still $85. Moral of the story: they're not good with elderly pets and don't keep their word. read more

I had never experienced a problem with PetSmart til yesterday. Here's how my day went. I was going to be late for my puppy's 12p grooming appt. So, around 1130a, I called to either cancel and reschedule. The person on the other line said she'll have josh get back to me when he's back from lunch. I said, "That will be great." It had been 2hrs since that call and received no call back. I decided to try my chance and see if they can take my puppy. I came in and, initially, service was great. Josh was helping me check my puppy in. While he was taking notes and persuaded me to go with the topup spaw, I iterated that I would like for his ears to be tipped and the top of his head untouched. After a few minutes went by, josh took my puppy to the back and another person finished checking me in. I had a feeling to reiterate to her that I did not want the top of his head cut cause my Girlfriend wants to grow it out and put a bow on his head, but i didn't. I assumed josh entered it in the notes already. Over 3hrs went by and I came in to see the finished product. I thought josh was going to be working on my puppy but it was Karina. When karina told me to give her a few more minutes to finish up, I said, "ok." When she was done, my puppy's head hair was cut and his ears was not tipped. I told her that I told josh not to cut the top of his head and to tip his ears. From the miscommunication I experienced with the staff, I probably will not be coming back to this grooming service because I feel I wasn't compensated enough than just a "I'm very sorry". I'm a forgiving guy, but my girlfriend isn't and I have to deal with that. read more

DO NOT GO to their Vet! There is a animal hospital in there call Banfield, they over charge the crap out of you and they have no idea what they were talking about. I had them do a x-ray on my dog and they couldn't figure out what was wrong with her. The x-ray plus service was over $500, and when I took the x-rays to a different doctor, he was able to see several different problems with my dog but couldn't see any detail because the x-rays were poorly shoot, so he had to retake them, for about $100. Save some money and use a different Vet. read more

On 2/28/14 i asked my husband to stop at Petsmart on the way home from work for 4 cans of AD critical care food. The food is out on the shelves where anyone can pick it up, well when my husband gets to the counter the lady says he needs a prescription. I have a cat in the end stages of heart failure at this point AD is the only thing he will eat, i couldnt get a hold of my veterinarian to fax some info over so they refused to sell my husband this food. Now i understand some of this hills prescription food is for serious conditions but AD is formulated to be highly palatable and to get ailing animals to eat and this particular petsmart would not make an exception and sell this food to us. Thank God i was able to make it to the nearest vet before they closed to get some of this food so my dying cat wouldnt go hungry. Petsmart is supposed to be there for animals but refused to sell the only thing my cat will eat... I have been a loyal petsmart shopper for aprox 20 years now, i always donate to their charities too but after being treated like this i will NEVER step foot in another petsmart as long as i live!! Petsmart you have lost a loyal customer and if this type of food isnt available the public you need to put it behind a counter or better yet since you say its unavailable without a prescription maybe it should be kept in your so called "vet hospital"...... The petsmart itself is ok. It's in a good location with Starbucks, Juice it Up (maybe its Jamba), panda express and a bunch of restaurants in the area. Honestly, Petsmarts arent too different from each other besides the service. This place has the worst grooming service. I took my dog there and she didn't look all clean and fluffy like she does after usual groomings at other Petsmarts. I swear they kept her for 5 hours just to spray freshener on her. The store itself is o.k. but I wanted to review about BANFIELD in this petsmart. THEY SUCK. I got my puppy enrolled in the optimum plan thinking it would be cheaper since the vet visits are free too. Boy, are they USELESS! One day, my pup thre up the whole day so I took him to the Petsmart. The docotrs there DO NOT KNOW what they are doing! All they want is to suck you dry of your money! When she saw my puppy, she said they would need to do blood work, x-ray and this and that, and the total came out to be $3000!! Even with the optimum plan "discount." So I came out and took my puppy to my other dog's vet and as soon as the doctor touch my dog's stomach, he said that my pup ate something and he would need to do an $80 x-ray to see if it was plastic or not. It wasn't thankfully and was moving down his stomach so the doctor gave us some pills and gave my pup a shot and my pup was fine. After this, I never go to BANFIELD in Petsmart. The doctors don't know what they're doing (Ex: I asked a question why my dog's eye had a blue tint and she didn't know) and all they want is to take your money!! read more

My bf and I got a puppy recently. Came here to purchase all the puppy supplies. It was convenient because it was the closes to our house. My puppy was only about 9 weeks old when we took him to petsmart. He shouldn't be eating any treats besides his food. The worker gave treats to my dog without asking and when home and threw it all up. That was the first bad experience. Second, I called yesterday to ask if i could bring my puppy in to get his nail trim, and the guy asked me couple questions, and said he needs to ask and see if "they can" trim a 2 1/2 month old puppy nail. He put me on hold for about 10 mins and while I'm on hold for that long, I had about 4 people picking up the call and saying thank you for calling petsmart how can I help you. I would say that I been help by the gentleman who first picked up and left me on the line, and one of them actually said oh he must of forgotten cause hes helping another customer. WTH DUDE! Finally he picked up the phone and said " uhh.. we do trim nails but we have a lot of big dogs here, do you want to bring your dog here? I don't know if you want to bring your dog today, maybe you can call during the week and make an appt. then." Wow i hung up immediately and called Petco in Cerritos and they were very nice on the phone helped me and answered my question right away and when we showed up they did my puppy nails right away! They had big dogs there also that they were working. what does a big dog have to do with my puppy getting his nail trim? Obviously they didn't want to the service. Great store. The employees are always really nice and knowledgeable here. The people here actually love animals and you can tell (it's really obvious) and I think that's how it should be. I've never taken a pet here for grooming, but everything else here is awesome. The selection of bowls, clothes, treats, toys... etc. The prices (specifically for ferret food/products) are cheaper here than at other stores, like Petco, which is a ripoff for those specific things. They also have those little surveys on their receipts. If you go online and do them, you instantly get a small verification code and it's $3 off your next purchase, and there's lots of coupons if you look for them. One time the server was down for a couple days so I called the number on the receipt and they gave me another verification and honored it anyway. There is good money to be saved! They also carry lots of brands here and they carry the special dog food for my sister's dog that she needs which is wheat-free, and doesn't have by-products in it. Of course lots of pet food is pure shit and has gross additives and by-products in it but you can't knock Petsmart for carrying product. It's up to the pet owners to do their research and buy the best things for their pets. Overall it's clean and stocked; it will continue to be my go-to store unless that changes. read more

We go to this location for our dogs vet at banfield. We have only had one bad experience with the vet (they misdiagnosed our dog and we had to take elsewhere despite paying monthly for this service) Sandy is always very helpful in explaining anything the vet says since I usually drop our dog off. I usually bathe our dog at home but have back problems so decided he needed a bath and a good pamper. I made an appointment online (very easy) with amanda for 5pm. Amanda was excellent! She asked a lot of questions about our dog and was patient because my 4 year old was very concerned about his best friend being gone. Despite our anxious beagle, she was able to get him nice and clean and cut his nails. When he was ready to go home Amanda explained his behavior and said that the furminator is not good for him because of his anxiety with the blow dryer and gave alternate suggestions for us to do at home. Thank you so much Amanda for taking care of a very important member of our family, we will definitely be back! read more

Terrible experience, - Buena Park Store on La Palma - Just picked up two different bags of dog food and they were infested with maggots. One bag was a Simply Nourish Lamb Pee Recipe and the other was a Simply Nourish Grain Free Chicken and Turkey. Both bags were sealed and they were not expired - Not an isolated issue as these bags came from two different store areas. Again, both bags were infested with white and brown maggots. OPEN THE BAGS AND CHECK THEM BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE STORE. The store will not be responsible for any damages. read more

I have come here a few times for my pet's grooming and they often mess up my dog's appointment. There have been a few times they get it right. But the fact that they get it wrong more than they do right is not okay. My schedule wasn't working with his regular groomer (not at per smart) so I had to schedule an appointment. I showed up today at 3pm and they told me I was supposed to be there at 2:30pm. Then they continue helping another guest. I walked out furious and called them. They tell me there are three people ahead of me and to call back in 30 minutes. I would never recommend coming here to anyone. They have horrible customer service and have NO idea how to schedule appointments. read more

We have been taking our shih-tzu dog here for many years now for her grooming. The service is always friendly and the staff is very good about grooming her according to what we want. Her hair always gets matted especially when it's long so we just have them shave her whole body using the shortest length they have. They're really fast too! I've been to other grooming salons and they take awhile, but here at Petsmart, our dog is usually done in 3 hours. Not too shabby :) And I love those report cards they send home with our dog. Sometimes the things they write on them are hilarious! Definitely will keep coming here to get our dog groomed :) read more

We took her to the vet and they said she had a severe colon infection she must've gotten from the store and there was nothing they could do. We got her pain killers from them and an antibiotic but she passed away 3 days later. She was in pain and never cared for. If its not a dog they don't care about their pets. First time at bp store very friendly staff nice clean facility, just loved the results of my dog's pawdicure I recommend to get the filing done along with nails clipped they did a great job and my Lulu is sensitve about having nails clipped has had a couple bad experiences I was able to communicate her issues and they were very understanding and did a really good job on her paws never looked better. read more

I generally always have some sort of issue with one or more of my dogs so i can always use the pet friendly advise they give.
