My fiance, our kids and myself tried to go into this location to buy something right quick. We walked up at the same time another lady walked up. The employee cane to the door and asked the other lady would she like to come in and then looked at us and said we're closed you can come back at 9am when we open. Now I hate to play the race card, but we are African American and the other lady was Caucasian. I feel she did not let us in due to the color of our skin. Grooming department has horrible customer service! On more than one occasion, after making appointment and getting a reminder, I've gotten phone calls that the groomer has an emergency and will have to reschedule my appointment. It's such an inconvenience! On another occasion I requested my dogs ears to be TRIMMED around the edges and they were unable to do so because silly me, i only scheduled a bath and I didn't schedule a haircut! Something so minor that would have taken a minute and they couldn't accommodate. So done with this place! Petco here we come! read more

PET HOTEL EXPERIENCE ONLY My dog is snappy, I know that, but it takes him a few minutes to warm up to you. I told the lady to let him sniff her and stuff and she replied with a "I know we're trained to do that" so I was like cool she knows what I mean. I was filling out papers and I hear my dog snap. They told me that I was making him nervous and that they were going to try taking him to the back to get him to warm up. I was like "okay whatever you need to do". Literally a minute later, they come back saying they can't keep him here because he's being snappy. What I find really interesting is that my dog gets groomed regularly and with multiple groomers at once. The groomers I take him to calm him down and never give up on him so easily. Besides, groomers actually get more intimate with the dogs like nail clipping, anal glands, brushing teeth, ear cleaning, etc and they've always gotten him to cooperate. It was EXTREMELY inconvenient for me because I had to go on a trip and I had to cancel and stay home with my dog all because they didn't even bother to try and befriend my dog. The only reason why I won't give this "service" a one star is because they were very nice at least. If your pup isn't a diva like mine, I sure it'll all go smoothly. But if your pup is a tough cookie like mine that may require a bit more attention, they won't give them the time and attention he/she will need to make them feel comfortable at the hotel. read more

Just had to write a review about the service I was given here! First off thank you so much Arthur for your time and patience with me and my girlfriend. I went in last week with a bunch of questions about my new dog and here he comes to greet me. I told him I had a bunch of questions and he replied I hope I have an answer for you. He answered all my questions to the best of his knowledge even letting me know the benefits and down sides of some treatments and or products. Even though my visit was a bit pricey just shy over $500 I left with confidence and was completely satisfied. In fact Arthur told me he's been taking care of animals since he was little and has had lots of pets. Arthur was serious but also took the time to add a little humor into the conversation, we actually felt wanted or like we had been best friends for a long time, I'm so glad PetSmart actually hires people who have a lot of experience in the field. Since this place opened up I've been coming here. I was going to Petco before but then I discovered this petsmart and never went anywhere else! My puppy came here for his first puppy training class and he also gets groomed here and he stays at their daycamp and their pethotel. I really feel like this place is my second home and all the staff know us there now. Not sure if that's a good thing haha But everyone is always nice and helpful. We love the staff there and we definitely trust them with our little pup. They also have a wide variety of pet items and if you sign up for their petsmart card then you can get more coupons. What more can you ask for? I definitely would come here if I have a pet and needed anything from supplies to overnight stay. read more

I had two dogs that went to Doggy Day Care here. The first 2 years were great and I loved the staff. Then there were a lot of personnel changes in the third year. My older dog has never adjusted quickly to new people. Suddenly, he surrounded by new staff members and he was afraid. I was told that the "trainer" would have to evaluate him to determine if he could continue to go (btw my lab never had issues with other dogs or other staff members). Later, This maybe 19 year old trainer told me that my dog was could not come anymore. Part of me was heartbroken, but the other part was furious! After almost 3 years, he was unfit? I pulled both my dogs out, purchased lots of interesting toys, and kept them at home. It was a sad experience. read more

So May 9th 2018 I contacted the concierge at the Hyatt Hotel Regency Hotel in Garden Grove California and inquired about putting our little Maltipoo in a pet hotel and I was given a couple of suggestions! When I arrived at the hotel I called those recommendations only to be told I was given incorrect information and was in a panic until I spoke to Danielle at PetSmart in Cerritos California! Danielle was extremely competent and reassuring and set up an appointment for Mister Smoochies to be taken care of on Saturday May 19th and Sunday the 20th! When we arrived we were met by Young man who I believe to be a manager his name is Kekoa and he was kind enough to make sure that we once again received all of the pertinent information and walked us up to the pet hotel there at PetSmart in Cerritos California! Kekoa also went out of his way to make sure that every one of our questions was answered as had Danielle! Danielle is such a courteous, respectful, caring, and highly professional representative! Everyone on staff lives to love little dogs that come in to be taken care of and protected while their owners are conducting business in our case 2 days at Disneyland! In San Francisco we have a very similar Pet Hotel but the cost is almost five times as much! I don't think I can speak highly enough about the staff at this particular PetSmart / Hotel! It is an extremely clean and very safe environment administered by some true dog lovers! The owner of this Maltipoo Smoochies is very particular and Ultra sensitive to having a safe environment for her little dog and she completely felt comfortable with Smoochies staying in good hands! We were only 6 minutes from the Disneyland Park and it actually only took us about 25 minutes to come to Cerritos, but it was well worth the trip! I must say you certainly get the biggest bang-for-your-buck here and really truly believe they should be charging a lot more than they are but it's extremely reasonable! There you have it! Thank you everyone at PetSmart / petshotel! If your pet doggy is traveling with you to the Magic Kingdom in Anaheim look no further than this particular Pet Smart to have them housed safe and sound and ultimately happy! read more

Groomers don't seem happy with their job, therefore, I don't plan on returning. I don't want to send my pet to people that don't enjoy working with animals. Also, I never met the groomer working with my pet, she didn't introduce herself to me or even have eye contact with me when she took my pet, I felt very uneasy....I should have cancelled at that point. When I brought him home, he scratched and bit himself like crazy, think she gave him razor burn. They should know certain breeds have very sensitive skin. Very Unsatisfied with the grooming service. This is for the Grooming department... I took my dog today to get groomed and I was very happy. My Dog is a pit bull mix and I groomers usually turn him down because of his breed. However, Adrianna (the groomer) had no issues with my dog and she did an excellent job. She was very knowledgeable and answered all the questions I had. My fiancé and I have taken Penny (our 3 yr old peka-poo/ dtr)to every 5 star groomer on yelp. Penny can be a little feisty and has been with most groomers we have taken her too. Ever since we started taking her to Brittany at this petsmart location, our dog has definitely taken a liking to her. Brittany takes her time and gives extra attention to details that matter to how Penny looks. We have been more than satisfied every time we have taken her. She is a very important part of this petsmart team and deserves a great deal of recognition for the service she provides. This store is great! Me and my boyfriend went here to find a pet to buy but were having trouble deciding what pet would be best for us. The girl working here named Shirley helped us out SO much. She explained to us the different types of rodents (Hamsters, guinea pigs, chinchillas) and what kind of care each required. She explained using her personal experiences with the pets she owns and gave us great information. We decided to get a chinchilla and she helped us pick out everything we needed to take care of it. I am very thankful for all of the great information give by her and she was upbeat and friendly the entire time. Last week we took our puppy to get groomed. We take our puppy to the Doggie Day Camp in Long Beach but the groomer had no availability so we called this location. We are so glad we did!! We met Lauren who was so helpful and friendly. She took her time explaining all the services available and which one was best for our puppy. We were a little nervous since this was our puppy's first haircut. When we came back we even didn't recognize our puppy. She looked fantastic!!! I would avoid the dog boarding and grooming service here. I had a really bad experience. Scheduled my dog for both. He needed to keep a cone on while boarded and waiting for his bath due to allergies. They refused to leave cone citing some unwritten policy. As I predicted, my dog then irritated his paw and they then refused to bath him citing some other unwritten policy. I wasted a day and had to make the 30 minute drive home with a dog that smelled like kennel. I'll never go back to this Petsmart. P. S. Petsmart contacted me and asked me after the fact how they could "make this right." Sorry Petsmart. You had three or four chances that day to "make it right" as I discussed this with three or four employees and a manager. Without a time machine, you can't "make it right" a week later! read more

We needed all-day accommodation for our 8 month old Labradoodle and were nervous because he is quite shy around people (loves other dogs, but is apprehensive around humans). Within 5 minutes the ladies at the desk of the Doggie Day Camp had us ALL feeling comfortable, including our pup! He was very well taken care of and had a wonderful time. We were impressed by how friendly, articulate and genuinely caring each one of the employees we came in contact with seemed and how clean the environment was. Getting the "Pawgress Report" at the end of the day was a special bonus because it was obvious that they were really aware of what he was up to the entire time - no dropping them off in a communal room and ignoring them here! We've been stressing a bit about where to board him for an overnight trip we have coming up in June but it's a huge weight off our shoulders knowing they have boarding at the Pets Hotel! read more

I have been taking my dog to the petsmart in the lb town center but Cerritos is closer so figured I'd try it out. I had a HORRIBLE experience my first time at the Cerritos location. First of all I had dropped my dog off at 8am (they say give it about 3-4 hours) I'd figure he'd be done around 11/11:30. It was now 1 so I decided to call and they said they had called me and left me a voicemail. I never received a call from them so who knows how long my poor dog was waiting for, he there for 6 hours. On top of that he had a horrible reaction to their flea treatment and I spoke to the floor manager regarding that and that he had come home that day after his grooming hiding for days under the couch (which never happened before) I kindly asked if there was anything I should know about that they didn't tell me. Long story short she said she would speak to the grooming salon manager, but never did. Decided to give them another try and take my dog back, another horrible experience, they took over 4 hours with my dog, so I called. The guy I spoke to said "actually we had just called, wait give me a second" then came back and said my dog would be ready in 10 minutes but they close at 6pm, mind you it was 5:45pm when I had called. First of all was he just about to tell me my dog had been ready and they called the wrong number again??? On top of that they closed at 6pm and I never got a call I had to call myself BOTH times I have taken my dog to the Cerritos location, I will never be back at that grooming salon again, it's horrible!!!!! read more

If I could give this place a big fat zero I would. It has been nothing but problems with them. First of let me start by saying that I have been bringing my dog here for about a year never had a problem. But a few months back I brought my dog in for an appointment to get his hair cut and I got there about 5 min late to be exact and was denied a haircut. Most place give you a grace period , I could understand if I was 10to 15 min late. But 5 min are you serious!!! I tried to speak to a manager or customer service and no one was able to help. My husband called corporate and they said that they Also thought it was ridiculous to have been denied services for being 5 min late and they offered us s complimentary hair cut. I ended up taking my dog elsewhere to get a hair cut. We made an appointment for today at pet smart again and as I got there they asked if I had cancelled because hey showed my app cancelled. I said no and as I waited about 15 min there while they tried to figure out what happened they finally realized that they had scheduled the wrong dog to be cancelled and they proceeded to take my dog in for a bath and hair cut . Not even 30 minutes later they called me asking me to pick up my dog because he was too unsettled and in other words the dog was too nervous and was not corporations. They had already shaved his body and bathe him but his face and neck and feet were undone. They said since it was complimentary they were not going to charge me anyways. They also said basically not to bring the dog back and instead to take him to a vet to be sedated for a hair cut. ARE THEY SERIOUS!!! I have been getting my dogs hair cut for 9 years and Even though my dog gets extremely nervous during haircuts or vet visits I have never been denied service . I was so upset for this facility has waisted my time yet another time. Don't waist your time or money here. They are unprofessional and they clearly don't know what they are doing !!!! read more

After reading some other reviews, I decided to check the dog food bag I bought off of the discount shelf a few weeks ago. I'm sure you could imagine my disgust when I shifted through it enough to find maggots, similar to another Yelper. When I looked at the bag under the light, I could see some flying bugs inside too. The dog food I bought was Blue Buffalo in the redish pink color. We were planning on switching my dog over to the food but she stopped eating it a few days ago and after reading some articles on Blue, I decided to stop feeding it. I'm glad I was feeding her tiny amounts of it and that she stopped eating it. She must have known about the bugs. I don't know how bugs would get in the dog food unless the batch was bad or something. It may not be the store's fault, but rather the brand, but I was still disappointed. I'm taking her to the vet soon so at least I can tell them about the dog food and see if she's okay. **I would like to add that the items on the back shelf are on sale because of they are close to going bad. However, the bag I bought is scheduled to expire on 8/30/15 so it should have been good for a LONG time! read more

I have been doing business with the Cerritos PETSMART #2279 since November 2013. I've spent over $350.00 during this short time. I went in to pick up my dog late Sunday, gave my check (as I have for the last 3 months) and was told my check was not good. I called the company they do business with (Certegy), and was told there was nothing wrong with my check and it should have been accepted). When I spoke to the manager the next day, they basically said sorry but too bad. I will not be doing business with this company again read more

Kinda frustrated with the grooming dept. I took my pup to get groomed being a 1st time pup owner you learn from your mistakes. Our pup was matted body trimmed a little uneven when completed. Ears were matted and needed to be cut down.. Which was fine But.. Groomer scared the crap out of me! Said she couldn't do it(left hair hanging off of ear which made it heavy and caused bruising) .. She then diagnosed him with hematoma and he needed to go to Vet asap! I Took him to vet on that Monday {$50.00 for visit) due to matted hair hanging from ear caused bruising and a little swelling because it was a bit heavy he needed a shot($45.00 more) to bring swelling down. {vet groomer said PetSmart groomer could have just trimmed with trimmer{and that would have taken care of it} and should have never diagnosed a symptom they are not vets! not to mention I paid for a groom that wasn't complete$ 50.00 ... So very frustrated.... Looking for a new groomer!! read more

Brought my english bulldog here to get groomed. I was a little worried when they weren't booked all day and i could get my pup in within 2 hours, but things turned out alright, except for one thing. I had mentioned on the phone and again when i took him in that they dont need to cut his nails. He gets stressed out when people try to cut them. Sure enough, when i went to pick him up, victoria told me that he was "snippy" when they tried to cut his nails. and I told her, YOU GUYS WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO CUT HIS NAILS! and she said "that wasn't in the notes" I know it wasnt her fault because she wasnt the one who checked us in when we got there for the appointment. But i felt super bad that she had to deal with my stressed out dog and felt even worse for my stressed out little guy. Hopefully we dont have this problem next time read more

This review is for the Pet Hotel's unwritten policies. My friend brought her small dog to be boarded here, while she underwent and recovered from surgery. The Pet Hotel was told from the outset, that the boarding time had to be open ended, as there was no way to know how long rehab would take for my friend. I was the contact person while my friend was in the hospital. I called every couple of days to inquire on the dog, and was told each time he was fine, loved "puppy play time", was eating fine, no problems at all. Then we got a call from Petsmart, informing us that since this was an older dog (he is 11) that he MAY get anxious, and if he got sick, we would have to pick him up immediately. That was fine, I said okay, sure, we'll get him IF he gets sick. Then, we got two more calls, wanting to know if we were going to pick him up that week. and again, were given the "IF he gets sick, or shows any anxious behavior, you have to get him". I asked if he had been showing any such behavior, and was told no, he was fine.It was clear Petsmart wanted him removed. I was able to find a privately run facility, and made arrangements to pick him up and move him. This is my issue: Petsmart should have told us on the first day, about their concerns IF the dog became anxious or ill. And, since he WAS NOT anxious or ill, why were they giving me grief about picking him up. Why would they want to boot out a dog that, according to them, was fine, happy, eating and showing no signs of ill health? When I picked him up, I told them I had found another place to take him, instead of saying "Oh no, he can stay here longer", they said "Great, glad you found another place." What was that all about? Petsmart needs to post, very prominately, their policy on time limits for boarding. When I told them at the beginning, it could be 2 to 4 weeks, or longer, I was told that was fine. He was in there 3 weeks when they made it clear he was to be picked up. And he WAS NOT SICK OR SHOWING ANY SIGNS OF ANXIETY. If there was another reason they wanted him out, they should have been forthright and told me. If there wasn't, then what kind of policy is it to evict a healthy dog because he MIGHT get sick. Fortunately, I found an excellent, 5 star facility, where he can stay for as long as he needs to. And, we will use that facility from here on out, if the need arises. read more

Their dog training courses led by Shirley is amazing, my dog loved her and she's awesome with pets.I highly recommend this store its also well maintained, they are friendly, they know their stuff and I'm always nicely greeted when I enter the store. read more
