If I could give my rating a 0 I would. My sweet baby got labeled as aggressive today by the brickyard petsmart. He has never been aggressive in his life. While waiting for the new groomer, we were in the waiting room with a small dog who was growling at him. and my baby boy (literally 7 months old) sat and stayed calm. When the groomer came out, I already saw the look he had on his face. The misjudgment of a pit written all over him. First, I had to put the harness on myself because the employee didn't want to. After I did, he took him in not even one second and came back out and said he was aggressive and was barking and growling at him. I know my dogs, my baby boy is extremely friendly and playful. My girl is the fighter when feeling threatened. That's why I don't take her anymore. Another thing, I decided to take him to a new groomer today because I took the first appointment available. I typically take him to Francheska Q at the brickyard. She's amazing and loves Rocky. But like I said, I took a last minute appointment which happened to have been with Nathaniel S. Moral of the story is don't take ur big dogs to him because he will send you home without blinking. Whats even more ironic and funny about the whole misjudgment is that I got them trained at that exact location. Isn't petsmarts slogan "Anything for Pets"? I've been going to the Brickyard Petsmart since they first open in my community. They recently moved their store across the street. The place looks beautiful but the service is horrible in 15 or 20 years and never had an issue with them. Today Jasmine makes me wait in line to check out Approximately 20 minutes. I asked her if she can call for help. She completely ignores me. She was unprofessional and she had the biggest hickey on her neck. You guys need to hire a more professional staff Will attach a picture of Jasmine and her super large hickey for your review. Dennis finally stood up to help but he obviously needs some training at the register. I was given a 9am appointment on today 2 October 2022, along with several others, we stood patiently waiting outside for 30mins, while employees were inside, store manager then opens door to have us wait inside, only then to be told, our specific Groomer called in sick and they could not service our dog. I bought a female betta fish from the downtown location 7:30 PM but she wouldn't get along with my other female betta so I had to return her next day (not even a full 24hours) . I called and was told I could exchange/return etc. at any location and it shouldn't be a problem. I went to the closet location and it was this one! Came in no one was at the registers (none of them) so I walked to register 1 and stood there. 2 other women walked up to register 3 and a woman came and rung them up instantly. So I'm like ok weird. Whatever. I stand behind them. A new line opens and a lady says she can take me. I let her know about the fish. I had my receipt, I'm a member, fish was still in original bowl and water it came in. She says one sec. Turns to the girl next to her (heavy set, brown hair) and she goes I can't take this back. You have to take it back to where you bought it. I reply it's a 30 min drive, $8 to park and the fish was only $4 and doesn't get along with the my other female beta. I just don't want it to die. She said we can't take this. So I went to my car called the store manager for the fish return policy. He said "it shouldn't be an issue" so I went back in same store later and they accepted the return. I've been meaning to leave a review for this place. I took my two dogs there about a month ago for a groom which they unintended came out very choppy looking. (Teacup Yorkie and Shih Tzu) Then when it was time to pick them up I reviewed a phone call from a really playful goofy young lady that said "(name) said to come get your bastard dog". I thought the call was a prank. She had actually thought it was a joke. Once I got there the "manager" apologized and said she would be writing them up and also gave me their hair cuts for free. Had a grooming appointment yesterday for my Cat for my very first time. My appointment was scheduled at 4:00 pm didn't have my Cat until 7 something at night . There is only one person that does Cats at this facility but I noticed she was also doing dogs in between, when I had my scheduled appointment. I know Cats aren't easy so with more reason they should have longer appointment slots for Cats (especially if one person only attends them). The groomer though was very nice and informative and treated my cat with care. I just wished they were more organized and faithful with the scheduled times. They need improvement on that!! read more

I took my puppy to PetSmart for the first time. They drug my dog. When she came home she was not herself. My do was breathing fast like she couldn't catch her breath. I called them next day and ask them what they gave my dog. They lied and said nothing but water. My dog was in trance. She couldn't even remember how to go up and down stairs. She was an active puppy until her first grooming section. Do yourself a favor......DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO PetSmart. It's reason why they have 2 1/2 stars. I give them a a one star for awful place. My dog got a pet-icure here. Just kidding, they don't call it that. BUT he did get his nails trimmed. Kudos to the grooming staff for being able to handle my 13lb dog who is probably as strong as a 60lb dog. Even though he was acting like a wild animal, they were gentle with him and I appreciate that. Most of the staff seems nice enough though I did encounter a customer service issue when I called in (it's not my job to contact headquarters to make sure YOUR website pricing is accurate). Nothing special but my dog seems to enjoy going here and surprisingly the excitement of being here wears him out so bonus for that! read more

We have a 14 year old dog that needs assistance in holding his back legs up when getting his nails cut / ground because of 2 surgeries replacing the cruciate ligaments in his back legs. I will never step foot into this PetsMart again. I had a 3:00 p.m. one on one training session with Larry. I show up on time and in the pouring rain with my overly hyper puppy only to find out Larry isn't even there. After waiting for 10 minutes the girl tells me he already left for the day and should have called me. He left at noon and didn't bother in those 3 hours to give me a call to reschedule. She oddly made me feel that the situation was funny and insisted that she would text him right now. As she's texting him I'm standing there like, so now what? And she says we can just reschedule. I DON'T THINK SO! I left work early for this appointment and not to mention the service is over $200, I'm taking this service pretty seriously but unfortunately the employees of PetsMart did not. Myself and my 3 dogs will be taking our business to Petco. read more

Celina was one of the best employees I have ever encountered, she let us name a guinea pig, as well as touch two cats and look at ball pythons. I came into the store not expecting much, and I walked out of the store with 5 new pets (aka fish). I came along with my Polish friend who doesn't understand English very well and they had a successful conversation with each other. I will definitely be coming back and the employees all deserve a raise due to the excellent customer service performance. Easily the dirtiest most disgusting Pet store I've ever been to. I've been to this Petsmart a handful of times only because its local and they have a vast amount of Blue Buffalo dog food. There's always dog poop and urine on the floor all while there's employees sitting around texting. I understand it's the responsibility of the owner to clean after themselves but there's also been numerous occasions employees have walked right past a dog with their leg up, urinating on shelving and product. The lone reason I'm even giving this store 2 stars is because they have a great selection, but that's to be expected since it's a national chain. First off, this PetSmart is HUGE! My boyfriend and I were pleasantly surprised when we walked in to browse their cat adoptions. The aisles are spacious and the store is incredibly clean. We adopted our first cat here, the process exceeded my expectations and the manager and all the workers were extremely helpful and friendly to us. We actually received a few cheers from employees when we left with our cat--they were sad to see her go! Really happy with our experience here. read more

This is my second time taking my cat to get a lion cut here with Jenna. She gives my cat a lot of attention, care, and is very gentle with him which I appreciate. She is paying close attention to him when she grooms and on both visits she let me know anything that she noticed about him that either is concerning or just for my information to keep an eye out on. I found his new groomer and will be taking him to her from now on. read more

I honestly LOVE this place. I've been coming to this place for years (though I don't always buy something, I just love coming in to see the animals LOL.) A few days ago, I came in to purchase two guinea pigs and some supplies. It was a bit busy, but my brother and I managed to flag down an employee quickly and she did an amazing job at answering our questions and showing us all three sections that had guinea pigs. She stayed with us until we no longer had any questions. About a month ago, we came in to purchase a hamster and again- a great experience. I took my little dog Simba for grooming on SEP03,2015 i got him back full of surface skin cuts from the hair trimming machine. In many places over his belly and under his neck, he kept licking the cuts all the time. I am never taking him again there, please see the pictures of the poor little dog. Plus they didnt cut his hair the way i requested, i dont know why they just do what they want and do not listen to the owner. My friends at work (dog owners) blamed me for taking my puppy to petsmart. I wont be taking him there again. I wish i read all these bad reviews before i took him. read more

Very young staff. Not very informed It took me forever to flag an employee ,seems like they all like to hang out in the same isle!! I just recently adopted a kitten from anti cruelty.they have a partnership with pets smart so anti cruelty gave me a coupon for petsmart for adopting the kitten but the so called manager said they couldn't honor the coupon because we didn't adopt the kitten from pets smart. i'm 50/50 with this store, today being the first time i came to this particular location. (i should say that when PetSmart opened in CA i absolutely LOVED their store over Petco.) but i have to say that i was pretty unimpressed by a couple things. the bad: 1. i bought an aquarium (10 gallons) on sale, but it cost me more to purchase a lid than the actual aquarium (???) 2. they had NO small animal water bottles that can be used in a glass aquarium, ONLY for the cheap plastic (expensive) cages 3. the only cedar shavings (opposed to pine or aspen) available was a HUGE amount, (i didn't want to spend $20+ AND carry it on the bus = my problem, not theirs); it would nice to have options 4. not many options for bowls or certain size wheels (though they DO have a lot of the exercise balls, if you look where the overstock is) 5. not a whole lot of available staff, though there were plenty of "groomers" on their phones and socializing (as a former dog bather, i know that you NEVER EVER turn your back away from a dog on a grooming table). the good: 1. the small animals (hamsters, gerbils, mice...) were all cared for, in clean cages (though not very socialized and BEWARE: they only carry females, from what i have been told) 2. good selection of foods & treats 3. store was clean 4. employee helping with the small animals was friendly, knowledgable, and explained the 14 day "warranty" very clearly 5. the cashier was friendly, asked if i wanted to sign up for "Pet Perks", so i saved $8. read more

Very disappointed with the pet grooming part of PetSmart a girl named Cristy injured my dog while shaving her twice and denied it . Opened up an old surgery scar tissue on her belly. She said she didn't do it and I said what kind of drugs were you on ? That you did not see the injury. I was also very disappointed in the store manager manager PETE RIEDER in how he handled the whole thing seems like he didn't really care ,that he would get back to me ,and he never did . I take my extremely loving & friendly chihuahua here to get her nails trimmed. The employee that does an excellent job every time is Dakota, we see nobody else because of that. She cares about the animals & is respectful. I have had no problems here with other employees, though. Sometimes their stock is down, but for the most part good selection. I buy dog toys here as well as some clothes & etc's. If you like buying holiday toys for your dogs this is where to go too. read more

Have taken my 2 dogs here twice for haircuts and I didn't really like the results of their haircut my Shih Tzus were left with too much hair on their face when I asked for a close-cut they had their hair hanging in their eyes and my younger puppy came home acting really weird. I won't ever take them there again but because I found that the PetSmart over in Skokie their groomers are way nicer and friendlier. If you're not able to get down to Skokie though, I must admit PetSmart is way better than Petco. read more

Prices are better here than at Petco. Staff is nice. I spent about a half hour playing with the cats, which were there up for adoption. The woman at the store thanked me for visiting with them. Broke my heart to leave them there & not bring them home. But, a kid with allergies and multiple guinea pigs already in the house, these are not things that mix well with new cats.
