This is there 3rd strike with me. When I picked my dog up he didn't seem right. He didn't want to be touched and instead of my dog walking out and running to me the young man carried him to me. He was like this all day l, very larhargic. I took him to the vet only to find out my dog has a hematoma in him rt eye from basically being choked on the grooming table. Do you think they said anything to me. I also noticed that he had been nicked several times on his inner legs. The last time we where there they took a chunk out of his inner leg. Terrible! they were so rude to my daughter when she picked up our dog from this place and didn't even finished the job. They shaved his body and didn't cut any hair around his face. Our poor dog was shaking all scared. They gave my daughter a warning not to bring our dog back because they said that he bit one of the ladies. Our dog has never bitten anyone before and he is super tiny so I am finding this very hard to believe... Aren't they supposed to be experts? how is it that they can't handle a tiny 8 pounds dog? We took our corgi here for his routine wash and when I picked him up he was shaved down to the undercoat. You can imagine how pissed off I was. Any groomer with knowledge would know never to shave a corgi, especially right now in this winter? My poor baby. Please do your research and learn from my mistake trusting an incompetent, unprofessional groomer like this one. Lauren and her staff use such CARE & COMPASSION with all the Furbabies they take under their care. I am EXTREMELY anal & DEMANDING on whom I send any of my Furbabies to. My 15 year old Labrador Retriever, my service K-9 & BESTEST Buddy for almost 13 years, recently crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. Lauren used Kit Gloves with him. Seeing as it hurt his old joints to climb & he was about 80#. Too heavy to lift. They used a ramp to assist him into the bath station & clipped him on the floor instead of making him stand on a table. MaMa's Duke LOVED to go to get his spa days. He would get all EXCITED as we pulled into the parking lot. His student, Hondo, a Laberdoodle, is just as happy and energetic to go. They both look better than I do when I go to the beautician. The groomers are all business with my temperamental Rescue teddy bear mix. She goes in every four months for the works when she is overgrown, shaggy with matts because she won't let me brush her. The groomers work their magic, give her a short cut in the spring and summer to keep her cool. They even add bows, bandanas if desired. It's easy to drop off, pick up a short time later, no long appts. with dog left sitting in a cage stressed, waiting to be bathed, blown dry, brushed out. read more

I had a great first visit with Hector's Grooming! I took my Morkie, Buddy there for the first time (orange scarf in photo) and he looks so good! Buddy is a rescue pup, and usually trembles in new territory. I was told he was very calm. I think they are at a very good price, they were very professional and friendly with my sister and myself. She also brought her dog in, Luna, (white dog with blue bows in photo) and she enjoys her visits every time. They were able to provide an estimated time, and called us when our pups were ready. It is walk-in only but this is for sure my new spot to take my dog for his grooming needs. read more

This place is one of the most unprofessional grooming establishments I've ever seen. I called them to see if I could bring my dog to be groomed, the man I spoke to told me to go ahead and bring him in. I told him I would be there in 3o min he was like perfect. Flash forward less than 30 minutes and 2 tolls later I get there and a woman saids to me "were done taking dogs for the day." As she rolls her eyes I tried to explain to her that I had just spoken to someone who told me to come In and she very nastily told me they don't accept walk ins. Don't waste your time with this place or their groomers. read more

A few hours after a regular Grooming for my pup I noticed she had a moist spot / irritation between her shoulder blades after being groomed. Took her to the vet a few days later when it began to worsen. The first thing the vet ask me was if she was recently groomed because it looked like a clipper burn. They had to shave the spot to confirm that it was indeed a burn which was now infected. I went up to Hector Grooming Salon to find out what happened and to be compensated. Of course they denied and ask that I get a second opinion from a vet of their choosing which was a few doors down. Their vet tried to dupe me and say that she already had the infection by looking at a picture (picture attached). Little did he know that picture was from March and she went to the vet weeks prior to the Grooming for a check-up and her shots and didn't have an infection then. The manager supposedly sent a picture of her wound (picture attached) to the owners who said they didn't see anything wrong according to him. At that point I had to go off and give them a piece of my mind. They ultimately refunded me for the Vet bill then the Grooming right before insulting me by coming out and ganging up on me 3:1 and telling me they never want to see me again. Awful! I took my Pomeranian and they shaved parts of his fur! Obviously they're poorly educated on the way to trim this breeds hair because you're not supposed to shave it. Now my dogs hair is not growing back and it's been months! Also, my dog came out of there not only butchered but he also had blood shot eyes. As I explained myself to the guy he was writing down what I said. After I was done he respected what I said to him and evenexpande explained it to him as he explained it back to me. Our pooch was in need of a good bath and hair trim, but we weren't able to get an appointment with our usual groomer for a week. So we called Hector to see if we could get in sooner. We were told - no need for an appointment, walk on in - first come, first serve. Today we went in first thing in the morning and so glad we did! Worst experience ever. I took my dog to get bathed and a SLIGHT TRIM. They cut off all her hair. I called and they said I had to call back to speak to a manager. Super unprofessional. We took our three dogs to get groomed and all three were not cut like we asked. This is ridiculous. My dog is a shihtzu and I wanted her to be a long hair one. I guess after a year of no cutting all gone to waste. I am never coming back here. read more

This is not a fancy elegant dog grooming salon but my dogs have never looked better. The 5 star review reflects the excellent job they did on my very temperamental Wheaten terrier and very friendly black mouth cur, I have my Wheaten shaved for the summer and they did the best job-- everything was very even, his ears were perfect and they did a perfect job on his feet and the long hair between his toes. I'm not a big tipper but I was so happy that i gave them a well deserved $20.00 dollar tip. read more

Took my dog there once. They did a pretty good job. Called in today to bring my dog in. They said yes so I started heading out. They called me saying that they couldn't take my dog today because "he takes too long" to do. How can a dog be denied because he's hard to do?! That's messed up. This place is awesome! I was looking for a dog groomer last minute, on a Saturday morning, and everywhere I called in the oak park, river forest, forest park, riverside area were booked! Most places told me they were booked for the entire month. I wasn't going to wait a month to get my dog groomed so I did more searching and found Hector and he was extremely friendly, offered great prices, and my little guy was done in an hour.
