I almost always buy pet food from petsmart vs. petco because petsmart prices are usually always at least a buck or two cheaper. I will buy online, activate eBates and then pay and pick up at the store. There is one particular cashier at this location and they are very serious about the amount of "flair" they have pinned to their brand-specific uniform shirt. I have tried to covertly count how many pins they have and I always lose count and cannot bring myself to just ask them. I have also considered asking if I could trade them some flair like how they do the pin trading at Walt Disney World but I am afraid I might freak the store associate out. read more

I had my 8 month old micro doodle trimmed last Wednesday at Petsmark at Dulles Landing and I was horrified when I picked up my pup. I specifically said please trim 1 inch, more on the legs and not much at all on the head. My pup was shaved to 1/4 inch, so now she looks like a poodle and not a micro doodle. The manager returned my money, but you can't grow back the fur. I was very dissatisfied and will never go back again. read more

Worst PetSmart ever. When I first started taking my puppy, there was a girl who took great care of my dog. He came out smelling brand new and seemed to really like her. However, since then and new workers it seems the service has been terrible. The customer service in the grooming section can definitely improve. Not to mention the last few grooms left my dog in in trembles and panting. He cried the minute we arrived and ran out as soon as I arrived for pick up. I could hear all the dogs in the back barking and crying. It was a terrible experience. I wish they had a glass screen so you can see what goes on once they go behind those closed doors. Not worth the cost. Guess you get what you pay for. I'd pay the extra $20 to take him to a another grooming salon that won't leave your dog traumatized. read more

I booked a dog bath today, I was told it would take 1.5 hours, over 2 hours later "as they were short handed as I was told" I got my dog (GSD) back still damp and with one of the worst trims to her coat which I never asked for, $80 later, I will never bring her there again!! read more

WORST PETSMART EVER: First of all my dog is a black German shepherd he's a big dog and he's only two years old. About a week ago we scheduled an appointment. When I walked in to the store to get my dog a bath and furminator I asked the lady, her name was Jen, about our appointment and the lady asked for the shots and we showed them. Jen was giving me the worst attitude I have ever seen and she was really rude. Then I show my dog Onyx and he is of course excited to see new people and Sean, the guy we had the appointment with, refused to take him in and he said it was because of his size and how hyper he is. First of all it never once said this on the website and Second of all I have never not once have gotten this treatment because of my dog. Do not come here if you have a big happy dog!! Not happy with their grooming services. My labradoodle came back with a lot of infection in his private area in the underbelly and anal region. Spent considerable time in the vet clinic to get him checked and get medications. A 78$ grooming ended up to be $600 vet charges. I have no faith left in this place. I've had my dog groomed at the Dulles PetsMart for over a year now on a regular basis. Jen always does a great job, and my dog is always done in a relatively short period of time. The price is reasonable for this area, and I don't have to leave her there all day. read more

This is not the most helpful store. I went to buy a pet from them which I did but they did not want to help me answer questions. I was rushed out by a guy who also brushed me and my family aside. The employee interrupted me from talking with another employee for them to help another person and not my family. I highly recommend the PetSmart in Chantilly!! They are super friendly and helpful. What a terrible grooming experience. I took my 2 dogs in for summer trims. I specifically said not to cut their hair too short yet they shaved them both down to the skin even cutting one of them. One of my dogs is a 6 month old puppy. No mats. No reason for a shave down except for groomer laziness! Stay away from this place. Never again! read more

I've been to this location for grooming services twice. During my first visit, my dog had pieces of marijuana in its hair when returned to me. The groomer gave me some bs excuse at the time and indicated it may have been from another dog. A few months go by and I decide to give them another shot. I went in to book the appointment and the person making the appointment went ahead with 2 regular groomings for my Yorkies. The cost of this should of roughly been $50 per dog. When I stopped in today, Jennifer refused to do a regular groom on them. She would only do so if I went with a top dog plus package, an additional $17 per dog. They are about up selling and refuse to accommodate you. Take your business elsewhere. The groomer, Jennifer Ward was a horrible individual, who lacked any type of customer service skills. I wouldn't be surprised if this location closes its door in the near future. What a joke. read more

I've been taking my dog to PetSmart groomers for 4 years. I have never had an issue until this store. They cancelled my appointment twice and my dog was in dire need of grooming as she was growing uncomfortable with her nails and long coat. When I showed up for my third rescheduled appointment early I was waiting outside for 40 minutes. Unfortunately I had a work call pop up and I was 6 minutes late to the appointment in which they called me to see if I was still showing up for. The lady who I spoke to said that my groomer was busy and couldn't come meet me at the front to do a drop off and that she was cancelling my appointment. After the multiple reschedules and showing up early, I was confused on how my groomer could be busy already. The lady who I spoke to was pretty rude and ended up putting a flag on my account which I have been battling for the past couple of months. After years of no issues and grooming experiences. It's sad to see that I'm not the only one who has had a similar issue because of the personnel at this store. Extremely disappointed with PetSmarts corporate with the handling of the incidents. read more

Bad experience. Scheduled a bath and brush but groomer stated service was not completed because my dog was stressed. However, when I arrived for pickup, 45 minutes later, I was charged full price even though they told me it was not completed. With the other groomers around the area I will never pay this price again for a location that does not do what the customer is expected to pay for. read more

Do NOT take your dog here for grooming. I made the mistake of taking my puppy (Yorkie) here for her first groom only to have my appointment cancelled due to the incompetence of the staff. During the check-in I was told that my puppy needed to be sedated in order for her to be groomed because she was "nervous" and would need to be "shaved down". I asked the groomer if she could explain why she needed to be shaved and she said that it was because my Yorkie had coarse hair that could potentially get matted. I asked if she could at least trim her nails and they refused unless my dog was under sedation. I left the salon and immediately got on the phone with two vet hospitals including Banfield and was told by both hospitals that they would never sedate a dog for grooming unless the dog was severely injured or aggressive (both of which my Yorkie was not). The next day I found a local groomer who was able to groom my puppy with no issues and my puppy was not required to be shaved down!! The prices at PetSmart are appealing but please do not choose money over the safety of your pet. I'm disappointed that the staff at this location would recommend sedation for a puppy that was naturally nervous due to her being in a new environment. My advice to this PetSmart location is to hire competent groomers that actually know how to care for pets. If you are thinking about getting your pet groomed at a PetSmart please do not book with this location due to their lack of ethical standards. Read and believe the other reviews!!! This PetSmart grooming salon is the best. I used to go to the Chantilly PS but HATED the commute to get there so I was crazy happy when this one opened. I've been taking my yorkie to Jenn W. since they opened and we love love her. She does such a great job every single time. She remembers us and greets us like we're family. All the staff are friendly and helpful. Highly recommend. If only coupons for grooming were more readily offered!?!?! read more

On Feb 3 my 37 gal fresh water fish tank held 4 long fin silver tetras, 4 red minor tetras, 3 neons, 2 zebra danios, 2 black mollies and 1 white molly. The tank had been stable and the fish happy, but I thought it would be nice to add a few more. On Feb. 4, I purchased 2 danios and 3 neon tetras from the Dulles Landing Pet Smart. Little did I know the catastrophe i was about to unleash. A week later one of the neons died, and the red minor tetras were looking a little off color. And then on Feb 17, two weeks after the new fish had been introduced, a full fledged case of Ich, followed by fin rot erupted in the tank. Virtually all of the fish have died, despite my attempts to medicate them. I may end up with one lonely molly in that big tank. It was so discouraging to watch formerly healthy fish suffer that I don't know if I will repopulate the tank. And if I do, it most certainly will not be from the Dulles Landing Pet Smart Fish department. read more

Beware when bringing your pets to the new Petsmart Grooming center in Dulles Landing. We brought our pups there for grooming for the first time and were called shortly after we left. The groomer reported that one of our dogs had "slipped" after his bath and was injured. They reported the groomer was en route to an off-site Banfield to have our dog assessed by a doctor, as he was clearly hurting. By the time we got to Banfield, they were already gone and were back at Petsmart, however no one called to update us. We arrived back at Petsmart to pick up our dog. We requested a copy of the incident report or some kind of documentation outlining what happened so we had it for our records. The manager said he couldn't give us any copies of anything and would not write any statement, nor would he allow us to go in the back to see where the incident occurred. The groomer reported that she thought when our dog slipped, "he dislocated something and when the doctor was messing with him, it probably popped back in place" which was why he was acting "fine" now. Why didn't Petsmart insist that Banfield X-ray him while he was there to be sure? The store manager also said now that this has happened once (dislocation), it's likely to happen again - great!! The whole process took hours and ruined our evening. Now we'll spend all weekend monitoring our poor pup. All we got was verbal acknowledgement and were told we could take legal action to get copies of the forms. We will place a call to Corporate if we don't get a response and will consider taking legal action if our dog has in fact suffered an injury. read more

After going to the Chantilly PETsMART for close to 10 years for my dog's needs, I was excited that a PETsMART was opening very close to my home, however, it seemed that I would only be able to assess the grooming salon for my 14 year old dog's needs as she is on Rx dog food and they don't carry that at this location. I also take my dog to the Banfield pet hospital for her health needs and they used to have one located within the Chantilly location but they don't have one at this location. When I first scheduled an appointment for my dog at the new Banfield which is located in a shopping center several miles away, it wasn't explained to me that this pet hospital was not within the Dulles Landing facility. I missed that appointment since I drove to the PETsMART instead and had to schedule another appointment. I did take my dog to the grooming salon at the Dulles Landing PETsMART and found they had good groomers there who handled my dog well. I had issues with the Chantilly location before and didn't want to go back there after I was told to pick my dog up around 3:00 pm and arrived there and was told my dog would be ready in about an hour and they would call. I never received a call and had to drive back out in rush hour traffic to get my dog that evening after I called them back and was told, Oh, yeah, she's been ready for a while. I recently called the Dulles Landing PETsMART's grooming salon to make another appointment for my dog and was told they could no longer accommodate her due to her age and remarks they had on their report from her last grooming there. I am always given a written report after my dog is groomed and the last report said that she had a possible ear infection and eye infection. She is an old dog and frequently gets ear infections. She is a Cocker Spaniel and that is not uncommon for that breed. I promptly took her to the vet and she was given antibiotics and the infections were resolved. She is an extremely gentle dog and although she is a bit stiff in the joints at times, she still gets around very well. She runs around our back yard and I'm amazed she still has good stamina for an old dog. The vet also told me other than the infections she is a healthy dog. When I was told by the person who answered the phone at the grooming salon that they wouldn't take my dog, I asked to talk to the manager. I was then told by the manager that the report they had was that my dog didn't handle the last grooming well and they reserved the right to not groom her. I was never told she had any issues at her last grooming of this nature. I was only told that she was a sweet dog and she did well. So after 10 years of using PETsMART for all my dog's needs, I will no longer be using any of their services. Apparently, I have heard the same thing from other dog owners in my community and that there are certainly other pet businesses and groomers who are more accommodating to the needs of all dogs, regardless of age. read more
