Highly recommend training classes with Teneshia. If you're on the fence about paying for the classes, they are the most affordable I've seen here and very helpful. Teneshia is the only trainer at this store and she's amazing. She's very hands on and personal with the dogs she is training. By the end of our 12 weeks (2 classes) our dog was so attached to her. Omg they hurt my dog and ended up getting a ulcer on his eye. Here is my story I went to the store after hour and a half to pick up my dog and they said he wasn't ready yet. I said no problem I'll be back in another hour. As I was walking out, the girls said hold on so you might want to take him to the vet after he got a little stuff in his eye that point I said, is my dog OK? Where is he? Can I see him? They said he'll be almost done, and I said OK I'll be back, but let me know as soon as possible because I was concerned. Then, when I came back to pick them up later, I was explaining to them that I wasn't expecting him to have an eye injury, and take him to the vet for hair cut. And one of the rude heavyset PetSmart managers came to me and said hey, we didn't see you taking the vet we said to monitor him. I said no that's not what you said and you weren't even there and then I did take him to the vet. The vet confirmed that there was an injury to his eye. I got so frustrated and they haven't even offered to pay my bills and they're denying that anything happened at their place. Just goes to show when you go to big corporate compliment that they don't give a shit. read more

We are currently considering (planning) on adding a furry member to our family. So we figured we'd stop into PetSmart - since the Hawaii Humane Society makes some of their available puppy adoptions available here, and so we could take a look at some of the other pet-related items that we would eventually need. Sadly, once we arrived there was only one pup left to visit with (out of 5 or 6 that were advertised), so that part of the visit was anti-climatic. We did notice, however, that not only does PetSmart offer assorted pet items they also have a grooming service and puppy training. Located where the old K-Mart was in Iwalei. The location wasn't hard to find - just off Nimitz hwy. Parking is plentiful - shared with the Longs and Ross stores in the same complex. I still would be leery of visiting after dark because of the abundance of homeless in the area - same issue that troubled the K-mart. On the day we visited, there was a mobile vet parked outside. Not sure if they're always there, but it was definitely a nice service to have available. read more

I get not offering a public restroom but when I'm a paying customer buying hundreds in products, you should allow me to use your bathroom for a number 1. Because they denied me access to the bathroom I almost peed my pants trying to find one. I was so upset that the cashier so nonchalantly just said "hold it". I almost lost it when he said that due to medical issues I have where sometimes I need a bathroom. The fact I'm stating this online in public is a shame of the whole company. Went here to purchase my tortoise and I was browsing online for tortoises and on amazon for tortoise stuff. Decided to purchase my tortoise here because I was weary about shipping my tortoise. They get their tortoises from Florida, they don't know the ages of them, but they did know the sex. I got a male, he was on sale for $99 which is a steal. From what I was reading online mains stream pet stores can only sell tortoises that are 4" and above. Mines is just at the cusp of 4 inches. If you go online on their website you can get 5% off purchases with in-store pickup, its a promotion that's going on. I ended up buying most of my tortoise stuff online, but you can adopt pets here and they offer grooming services. They are right next to Longs and Ross. They're also across from the Salvation Army and Dole Cannery is just a little down the way. This place is normally not as busy and has a lot of parking. Very disappointed at the online order to store pick- up processing time. An online order was placed at around 12 pm and I'm writing this review at 4:24 pm same day because the order has not dropped to the store yet. I have called the store to check if order has been received and their response is that the order might come in the following day. Teneshia is an excellent trainer. I took my puppy, Chance, to her training sessions. He was able to learn so much. He learned sitting, waiting, socialization, and so much more! I was scared he would not be able to learn much because he was getting older. He learned everything so well with her help! I was also able to build a better bond with him! Just a warning for those buying crickets. I came here to buy the cone of shame for my dog and noticed they have crickets and was kinda excited cuz they are cheaper than local pet stores... for good reason I unfortunately have come to find out. I bought 75 crickets and half of them died within a week. They are well taken care of cuz I try to breed and raise my own crickets (they don't grow fast enough though for my chameleons which is why I end up having to buy some). After the first few crickets I gave to my chameleons they suddenly lost their appetite which I thought was weird but at first I thought maybe they were just too big and they got full fast. Nope.. my male jackson ended up dying and I'm just assuming it's the crickets since half of them died pretty quickly and the chameleons stopped eating after the first few crickets. Nothing else changed for the chameleons so I'm pretty sure it was the crickets. The female looks a little sick but I think she might pull through - she didn't eat as much as the male did, but not sure yet. Lesson learned to stick to buying local. But I give 2 stars cuz the staff were pretty nice. read more

Best all around large (and small) dog grooming! I've taken my dog to a lot of groomers, constantly looking for one that not only does a good job but manages to lessen the trauma for my pet. Let me start by admitting my baby is not for a newbie. She's a big, rambunctious and alpha husky, quick and calculating in letting you know "don't touch me there or else!" And, like all huskies, she is very vocal. I mean so much that once I could hear her screaming at the groomers from a block away. Usually the first visit gives me an indication of the groomers skill and patience. But the second visit is the tell tale truth. If my dog gets a whiff of the place and tries to claw her way out of there as fast as she can, that tells me she had a bad experience. I can't tell you how many groomers we've been through. In some cases, it's not always the groomers fault. I've come to realize sometimes is the equipment. Not all groomers have walk in bath tubs for large dogs. Imagine a groomer lifting a large struggling dog 1/2 her weight 3-4 feet for its bath and not all groomers have grooming electric or hydraulic grooming tables. This became a deciding factor in choosing PetSmart over a mom-pop business. The company invests in professional equipment for all types of dogs, large and small. Speaking of which, many groomers prefer small dogs. You can do 2 dogs in the amount of time it takes to do 1 large dog. Thus, they are often tend to be less experienced in handling large dogs. What I also like about petsmart is that they have an express service. This means they service the dog from start to finish in one swoop. Some groomers bath the dog and put them in drying kennels which basically blows air on them until they see dry. Imagine a dog with a undercoat like huskies. Before the understood this, my dogs grooming sometimes took 6-8 hours my ch of it spent drying in a kennel. This technique lets them turn multiple dogs. They basically trim one while another is drying. But imagine what the dog goes through. The express service eliminates this. My dog was done in 2 hours lessening the trauma of being away from me, with strangers and being subjected to a service she doesn't care if she has or not. The ultimate proof is when she comes out. Does she look good and is she calm and smiling. Dogs like to feel good, smell good and they can tell by your expression that you are pleased. In summary, keeping a big dog groomed is challenging. Finding the right groomer is even more challenging. PetSmart has it down. They have the right equipment, the right services and skilled technicians. I was referred by Ohana Doggie Day Care because other clients recommended PetSmart and a groomer they call the Dog Whisperer. I found out Shari Lynn (?) Specialized in mostly small dogs. Andrea was our groomer. She said she loved huskies and would be thrilled to groom Liko. She proved to be a great groomer. When Liko was done, she never looked better and she was smiling and calm. By the way, I watched the other groomers and noticed how calm the dogs they were working on were. To me this says a lot about the establishment and the groomers. read more

Unprofessional, unaccountable, and UNSAFE. My friend took her dog for grooming here as she usually does every few months. This time they happened to be assigned to a different groomer, Rosanna. Their dog was returned completely shaved unlike his usual haircut. Not only is he completely bald, but he is POORLY shaved as his coat is completely uneven. The worst part in all of this, is that he was returned with a swollen and BLEEDING cut on his ear that the groomer blamed to be a "growth" that was already there. A few minutes later, she said that it was actually a scab that fell off during the bath. So which one is it? A growth? Or a scab? Accidents happen and that is completely understandable. But it's a whole different story when it's been lied about or pushed under the rug. read more

I went to this place to purchase a group of neon tetras. Quality of aquarium fishes here are good but if you're the type who's looking for those expensive centerpiece fishes they might not have it. I've only noticed freshwater fish tanks. I did not see any saltwater fish tanks. Service was OK. The two ladies at the fish area were doing their work (cleaning fish tanks and transferring new fishes to the tanks) while chatting. It takes awhile before they get the sense of customer needed to purchase a fish. They don't approach their customers right away and ask if they have a question or needed anything. In my opinion it seems like they are not into "selling". They will do their job but not "selling". You have to approach them if you need something. read more

Let me start this off with saying that not all of the groomers here are terrible. I've seen Sonya multiple times and have always appreciated the amount of time and effort she puts into my dogs-I've dropped off my 3 pomeranians and picked them up 9 hours later! What dedication is that?! Today we had an appointment for Tedi @ 12:30. My boyfriend dropped him off and when they asked what type of cut he said they normally scissor him and the groomer said "that's strange, you never scissor them because their undercoat, you shave them." If you were a knowledgeable Groomer you would know you that is definitely not it. She explained he's matted and may need to be shaved. I just bathed him and I blow dry him on Sunday- his fur is thick and not the easiest but it was not in knots. I've dropped him off MANY times before this in the exact same condition and like I said earlier, Sonya took her time and brushed it out. Did I have to pay extra? Of course, but that's understandable! I was notified an HOUR later that he was ready for pick up. NEVER EVER had any groomer only taken an hour to complete his appointment, even when there was no hair cut being completed and just a bath. This had me concerned already. My boyfriend picked him up and took him home BALD and was told he had growth but when he got home he saw it was STILL BLEEDING AND SWOLLEN. No doubt a FRESH WOUND! Also when they taken in your dog, they assess your dog before taking him back an I would think something so RED AND BRIGHT would have caught her attention. I called back and the groomer said for one the number I was calling from was not the number that was on his file- I GOT THE TEXT for one and for TWO HOW DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM THEN. She then explained how it was a growth and she advised my boyfriend to take him to a vet and that the water from the bath made the scab fall off. I just took him to the beach on Sunday and bathed him right after, I brush and blow dry them as I previously stated. I would have NOTICED THIS! And I'm not sure what type of growth or scabs you have seen in life but this is obviously not one. I'm beyond speechless and ANGRY at this. The fact that one she shaved my dog bald- if she isn't familiar with undercoats then find another job, TWO the shave is splotchy, not even even, THREE do not hide what you did to my dog and try to blame US. She also let my boyfriend know that we were her last clients of the day - this was at 1:30PM. I hope whatever plans she had was more important then the wellness of my dog. I've referred friends to take their dogs here in the past but I'm not unsure if I will ever return back to this store. We now need to take our poor traumatized dog to the vet tomorrow. read more

Always a fan of PetSmart, I was elated when they finally opened a store in Hawaii (Mililani). Now, here's the 2nd location! Although, I wonder what happened to the planned Kapolei location? So staying true to Hawaii fashion, this PetSmart is smaller than the mainland stores, but damn this store is nice! It has more of a modern feel to it than other stores. The Adoption Center got a major upgrade! Little kitty condos to my delight :) Always tugs at my heart strings, but PetSmart Charities is such a great program...I really hope these babies find their safe, loving forever homes very soon! I came at around 7pm on a Thursday night and although the store was lacking customers, the employees were very nice! The store was clean and well organized. The aisles are backwards from the Mililani store haha. Like the other PetSmarts, there is a grooming salon. However, I'm not sure if it's actually open yet since the store is so new...they may not have hired qualified groomers yet. I wasn't able to check if they have their dog trainer yet, but if not, I'm sure they will soon! FYI: all groomers and trainers MUST complete certified training before touching a pet :) Be wary of the parking lot - there is one entrance and one exit, each are one-way only. Their registers are not yet equipped to be paperless like the other store, where you can opt to have your receipt emailed to you as opposed to printed. Came to bring my pup for grooming, set the appt a couple days in advance. Second time coming. They knew she was in heat. When I showed up for appt they said extra money for 'express' couldn't do her today. In my three interactions with this grooming service..1st attempt to get an appt was met with a cancellation because groomer called out. Second no issue and this the third. No idea if there's better out there but as far as service goes, definitely not the best. Service I got last time was $120 plus tipped groomer $40...you would think they want customers to come back. The woman named Angelina that works here is super friendly, patient and helpful. She was very fascinated with our cockatiels that we brought into the store with us. She was very helpful and even gave us cook tips on how to train your dog. (We also had our 2 dogs with us). She even said that if we ever have any pet questions that we could call and ask for her. It was another really great experience at PetSmart. Be sure to join their rewards program so you can get valuable coupons through email. We love PerSmart compared to their competitors. We always go to their Mililani location but decided to check out this location which is right off Nimitz. The parking is huge which they share with CVS and Ross. Immediately walking in, we were welcomed by several employees. We notice how big and clean the store is they have everything you may need for any pet/pets...fishes, dogs, cats, turtles, birds, etc. Their prices and better then slot of other places and they always have different sales going on which is a big plus. As I mentioned earlier, the staff here is friendly and offered help while were were shopping and thanked us as we left even if we didn't buy anything. The store is a great place to shop; it's clean, it's organized and they have just about anything and everything needed for pets. But, don't be fooled the glitz and the glamour of the store because the grooming services is by far one of the worse; some of their staff members are rude and cocky! You can make an appointment, check-in your pet, get an estimated time of completion and then not get the service you expected because walk-in's will take precedence over pet(s) that have appointments. I brought my 4 month old Siberian Husky puppy for a quick bath and nail buffing and was quoted by Gabrielle to be finished in a hour and a half to two hours. After walking in the store for 35 to 40 minutes, we went back to find that our puppy wasn't in the treatment room. Gabrielle walked out with another dog and informed us that our puppy was going to be finished in two to two and half hours and that our puppy was in the back being dried. Upon questioning "WHY?!", she claimed that she could groom pets up to four at a time and took walk-in to service other pets. I asked if appointments take precedence over walk-in's and was informed that PetSmart groomers are allowed to handle up to 4 pets at a time. When I asked for the manager, Gabrielle went to the back of the treatment room to bring my puppy out to be looked at. It was then we acknowledge that he wasn't even given a bath yet after 45 minutes of being in the store. As I began arguing with the manager on duty, Cameron (another grooming personnel) jumped into the conversation trying to inform us that they can do multiple pets at one time. My family was not concerned about other pets, but our puppy, that we brought in more than 45 minutes ago and wasn't even taken cared of. To add insult to injury, Gabrielle offered us an express service (where she would concentrate on one pet - our puppy) for an additional fee, and be completed in an hour and a half. As I departed the salon waiting area, my wife continued her argument with the duty manager and Gabrielle regarding our visit, the other salon personnel, Cameron began to verbally attack my wife as my wife insisted that she was not talking to her. My wife made a statement that we're were not coming back to this grooming salon and Cameron responded; "GOOD!" To make matter worse, when I called the Store Manager (Garrett), Tuesday morning to discuss the matter, I got the feeling he wasn't in the mood for my complaint and said there was no indication of any situation that occurred over the weekend since he only returned from being off on Sunday and Monday. After speaking with him for more than 10 minutes, it was apparent that my conversation with him was not going to resolve any issues. read more

I originally took my dog Dolce here for a nail trim, but got suckered into getting him groomed. The receptionist told me the price was $45 for a full groom. I just wanted a little trim to tidy him up since I prefer the fluffy look. The groomer came out and told me I would have to shave him because his undercoat was matted. I really didn't want to, but it was starting to get hot and I went along with her advice. I came back to get him and they charged me twice as much!! She said they did EVERYTHING. PetSmart grooming does NOT even deserve 1 star!! Long story short I took my 4 month old French bulldog puppy to get an upgraded grooming package as well as her nails painted. Mainly I went just for them to paint her nails. (I can wash my 12 pound puppy at home no problem). Anyways, to my surprise when I picked her back up her nails were ridiculously UGLY! At first I thought it was a joke.. but nope. They actually had the audacity to give her back to me like this!!! I can't believe I paid for this. I could've done a better job at home using my non dominant hand! When I complained about it to the groomer she kept saying how my puppy kept trying to lick her nails while she was painting them. How the last time her nails were perfect because they had two ppl working on her nails.. and that they shouldn't have two ppl working on a dog at once. I don't understand how a professional groomer can't even paint a dogs nails properly! Why can't they have two ppl working on a dog for 5 mins? I don't understand!! As soon as I took her home I took off this ugly paint job. I would never let my baby walk around with this ugly paint job! I rather her nails be plain with no pawlish. LESSON LEARNED. This pet smart is recently the newest pet smart on the island as far as I can recall. Compared this to the mainland stores it felt average that's why I listed it 3 stores. The workers were super friendly that I got distracted to buy feeders and only got the filter for my cousin. So I guess we will go back tomorrow ‍. I caught a groomer being rough on a small puppy. She was cutting his/her hair and kept pulling hard and rough. The poor puppy was crying nonstop. I pointed it out to them and the girl came to me and asked me "what I considered to be rough" I told her the puppy is crying, I am pretty sure is because she wasn't being gentle". She looked like she hated her job. None of my business but I wouldn't like my puppy to be treated that way. Also, grooming and bath took more than 3 hrs. it's a total waste of time. I could hear the dogs crying from outside. My dog got stressed out from being there too long. I didn't like the system they have, seems like the dogs get rotated taking too much time. My first time to PetSmart. The place is nice , clean and organized. You can find what u need very easily. They price match and is more affordable than petco. I spent $5-$7 less on the normal food I buy my dog. They had more products as well. They had a great Halloween section included pumpkin spice greenies chews and Halloween costumes. They even had natural products without all the harsh chemicals for fleas n ticks. I also saw in the hair products they had a chi styling brand for dogs .. soooo cute and awesome . This review is for PetSmart rejecting my dog because they claimed he has history of biting when having his nails trimmed. When I brought my dog here to have his nails trimmed he was actually turned away because of an incident that may be the result of mishandling. Of course, if you don't work with the dog, he may bite because you may be treating him roughly or not easing him in. They did not even give my dog a chance. I have brought my dog to the vet who has never had a problem trimming his nails in front of me with no restraints whatsoever. I have also brought him to another pet store for nail trimming and he did not present any problems for the pet groomers who told me that he did not bite them. I was so concerned about PetSmart's claim that I watched as another pet store pet groomer trimmed his nails. I did not see any problems. Because of this, I have decided to trim my dog's nails myself. I can see that if you just go directly to trimming his nail without easing him into it first, he can become uncooperative. But he did not bite me. He would pull his paw away. But if you ease into it and give him praise as you trim he will sit still until you are done. My advice to pet owners planning to trim their dog's nails is to do it one at a time and go slowly. It might be that you might only be able to clip one nail in one day but if you do one a day, you'll have a whole paw done a few days later. Eventually he or she will allow you to do more each time. But give your pet time to get used to it. It may take a while but your patience will be rewarded. read more

Came here for the first time this past Sunday. In actuality we stopped in just to see if there was a restroom as we'd been on the road a while. They had no problem letting us use the restroom whereas the businesses next door told us no. So we walked thru checking out the animals and almost walked out with a whole new set up of fish. We decided to wait and on our way out I stopped at the groomers and landed up making my dog an appointment. I brought him in this morning for the first time ever to a groomer. Capri worked with him. She did a fantastic job. My dog isn't always the friendliest and he's an old man but she was able to work with him. When I came to pick him up I seen him happily trotting along with Capri to get his picture taken. It's a little pricey but much better than any other place I've checked in. The friendliness and quality makes it worth it. We will definitely be coming back and definitely recommend. read more

Since I am a loyal customer, I will continue to bring my fur babies for grooming to PetSmart and their food but will purchase some other items from here. The staff though could touch up a bit on their customer service considering the store traffic isn't high. Idk maybe it was just the workers that day. Store is pretty neat, clean and stocked. I don't have any complaints other than what is stated above. I guess I'm indifferent. But yeah definitely go here for your pet needs if PetSmart doesn't carry what you're looking for. So all I can say is that we planned on stopping there after work, getting a few essentials for our (fish, guinea pig, turtles and cat) family then head home to them and be a happy family. Sounds good right? Turns out, that's not what happened thanks to these mofos of a so-called staff... Usually I would give the staff a good review (that was removed by Yelp for some stupid rule) but this time they screwed up my happy place by treating us like we were stealing. Been customer loyal to that fn store since they opened, but now I'm never giving this place any more of my hard-earned money. We've tried almost every grooming service at petsmart and petco, but this by far was the best experience. Ciera was extremely friendly and patient with our little fur baby. He's usually very anxious and refuses his nails trimmed but somehow, Ciera did the best buffing and nail trimming he's ever had, EVER. He also seemed more at ease with her as compared to other places we've taken him. Her demeanor was just very pleasant and I think he could sense that. This store is also the only place with our dog's food in stock all the time. Other stores are always out of everything but this location has a fuller and bigger selection. read more

So upset with these folks. I made a pet grooming appointment earlier this week for my dog this week. I,told them I had a soft muzzle as she has "fear aggression". That was a diagnosis by my vet. The person making the appt said if need be they would put a cone on her but not use the muzzle. Okay. To help my pet through this I VERY low dosed her with a prescribed anxiety medication. I get there and they asked me if she was medicated. I said yes. Then,they tell me there very strict rules say they cannot groom her. Why didn't they tell me that when I made the appointment? "We have very many rules and cannot go through all of them when making appointments". Not happy but I turned to leave and then requested another appointment late in the week. I,had mentioned the fear aggression so THEN chicka tells me their "very strict rules" don't allow them to groom aggressive animals. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Why didn't they tell me that on the phone when I made the appointment? I am pretty angry right now! What a waste of time. BTW, my dog is 10# soaking wet. read more
