If it were possible to leave NO stars, I would. Used this pet hotel for the first time for my two dogs on July 25 and it was the worst experience for my poor dogs. We dropped them off and left with a limping dog. Thought maybe our lil guy was just laying down for too long so waited a day and noticed he couldn't even put weight on it. Took him to the vet and his poor little bones were broken on his front paw/leg - we suspect he was stepped on. Pet Smart referred us to their contracted medical facilities and are covering all costs however one month later our dog is still suffering. The stress of it all has changed our dog's demeanor; almost like he has post traumatic stress. We have to take him to the vet weekly while making sure he doesn't gnaw his cast off. Pet Smart is covering the costs - as they should - but No compassion or empathy for the suffering caused by their facility. We requested a follow up investigation and haven't received anything. I know there's security cameras but no follow up has been given. BEWARE of bringing your beloved pets there. Pet Smart Hotel in Long Beach is horrible and I will never recommend them to anybody. I will always be grateful to this store in particular because my Father adopted a dog for me here. The people who worked there were honest about his history. The dog had had a rough life, was found roaming the streets homeless and starving, had severe health problems, and was going to be put to sleep the next day if nobody wanted him. When my dad put him in my arms I immediately felt a bond with the little guy. We took (Tanner) to the vet and they said he wasn't even going to make it 1 year due to his kidney and heart problems. My little miracle ended up giving me the last 4 years of his life. He died two and half weeks ago in my arms. Tanner was my best friend. We did everything together. I don't understand how such an insightful, wise, caring, and characteristic creature full of such pure unconditional love could have been so constantly rejected. I like the LB Petsmart, the people are very nice. But the PetsHotel is over crowded and is set up like a shelter back there, it looks sad. Dogs look nervous and don't have any noise to listen to but the barking and whining of other dogs. I think this is a good place for dogs who have day camp and get to socialize with other dogs and the staff (even though they never get to go outside, which I find to be odd.) They also seem to take too many dogs during their busy time to give quality care and attention to each boarding animal and always seem to be in a hurry with the animals. I do not like that and had to share. read more

I vouch to never bring my pet (English Bulldog) to this Petsmart hotel at the LONG BEACH TOWN CENTER again for the following reasons: 1) There was quite a long delay to check out 2) There was a longer delay because they could not immediately find my pets belongings. 3) When they finally came back with his things the following items were noticed: a) The backpack which I brought everything in was discolored. When I asked what this discoloration was, they told me that my dog urinated on the back-pack. HOW THE HELL DOES THIS HAPPEN! Do they keep this backpack in the Dogs boarding area which may be a hazard if not attended to! b) They LOST my dogs play toy that I brought to keep him occupied. HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN! Although they did try to make amends with this by allowing me to choose and keep a toy in the store. Still, I question how things are being run in the back. 4) I brought a blanket in which I specifically said that it should be laid on the sleeping platform that he sleeps on. When I arrived, I did not see this anywhere as I could see my dog from the observation window. I question whether they even used it at all. I have been bringing my pet to this hotel since my pup was a few months old. NOT ANYMORE! I lost my trust in the employees that run this hotel and I have already identified a boarding facility near my house which I will begin using. I feel a sense of NEGLECT for my pup by these employees. Our family has been going to this petsmart for many years until our recent visit. We dropped off our golden retriever for the weekend. After we picked her up and brought her home, we noticed that all the food we dropped off with her was returned. So she was never fed when she stayed there. We called Petsmart and asked them about they claimed that they did feed her. However when I told them that I have all the bags of food we initially dropped off they argued that they did feed her. They refused to work with us and kept denying they were wrong. We were very disappointed with them and do not plan on returning. read more

I went on vacation for a week and kept my 3 year old cat here. When I got her back, she was in horrible condition. She had a high fever and was very dehydrated. I had to take her to the vet and the bill ended up being over $300! Also, the boarding wasn't very cheap at all. I will never shop at any Petsmarts ever again. read more

This is the closet pet store to me, so naturally I go there. I have spent lots of money there since I have 3 dogs, fish, 2 birds and a bearded dragon. The store is clean but overall they really don't know much about anything. They are always redirecting me to someone else when I have a question. Ive bought a few certain items that were faulty and didn't work from them. Thankfully they didn't have a problem giving me a new one or a similar item for the same price. I must say though that I was furious today when i bought a container of what was supposed to be 50 superworms, I got home opened it up and found only 10 superworms!!!!! Im so pissed that the staff most likely did not check what was in that container from the second it hit the shelf! Its a live animal, you need to make sure you're customer is getting a LIVE amount! Probably the worse decision I have ever made to bring my dog to boarding in this location. My 10 month old yorkie has always been healthy. I left her from July 24-30 I took her everything she needed from pee pads to her toy's, food, bed, blankets even her own filtered water. While on vacation I called the hotel 2-3 times a day one in the morning mid day and at night before they closed for the day. Every time I called they stated my dog was alert and hyper and having fun however when it came to eating she had only eaten 1/4 of her food and they gave me the explanation that it's a new environment and she's nervous and getting use to the staff and her surroundings. On the 25 when I called they said she threw up and also only ate 1/4 of her food so they gave her pumpkin purée to soothe her stomach. Fast forward to the 30th my dog was now being transferred to a Banfield hospital because there was blood in her stool and had diarrhea and was not eating. Fast forward to pick up day my dog was mellow had no energy and my dog gets hyper for everything. Long story short I paid extra for my dog to be in a suite by herself paid extra to get individual walks and individual play because she has never been around other dogs playing. My dog is now currently in two antibiotics and a diarrhea medication doesn't eat is afraid of her bowls I have to hand feed her doesn't want anything with her own food and I have to give her water in a syringe. What ever you do DO NOT take your pet here. She would of been well of leaving her at home alone with food and water than bringing her here. read more

I would like to not giving this store any stars bc they have the worst groomers ! I was a customer for about 4 years and in 2014 the service just kept getting worst. In other words, my dog needed surgery on her paw after a trip to the groomers salon ! apparently the groomer pulled on one of her nails & somehow got it in the bottom of her paw. she was very swollen, infected, and in so much pain bc of that. AND they didn't even trim her fur evenly ! it's been about 7 months & her hair is taking forever to grow ! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER . DO NOT BRING YOUR DOGS HERE ! read more

Me and my sister took Torie grooming by 9 a.m. w/ appointment; but the groomer employee named "Sun" the Korean girl but she is good grooming to her but never happen; but the grooming didn't take long it only take 2 hours waiting after drop her by 9 a.m.; it was SO QUICK better than last grooming during last year November so we will definitely used this location of Petsmart for grooming, thank you! read more

wow i went to this petsmart saturday morning to buy dog food i got greeted immediately then when in the aisles a young guy with like a fauxhawk asked if we needed help from going to all the petsmarts in our area every single person that helped us out always got it wrong (i have a picky dog) i threw away or gave away around 15 bags of dog food this guys explained to us in great detail the differences told us how to serve it we tried the food (blue buffalo wilderness) and my baby can't get enough this is the 3rd plate he finishes usually i have to end up giving him human food or wet food just so he can eat but atlast my nightmares are over!! wish i could remember the guys name to recommend him he was great with us he even told us about his dog and how his struggles have been lol read more

Ohh what a nightmare! Heading to work on a Wednesday morning and stopped in to make a return. As I enter I am greeted quickly and after telling the friendly gentleman I am here for a return he directs me to an isle. Young female checker is very friendly I explain the situation. Not a problem i'm told. Problem with the computer, we will have to move isles to the next one over. Ok, no problem. We move, long conversation between checker and an apparent manager. "Teyee" I recall the name tag reading. He needs to override and reset the system so she can move back to the original register. Ohh geez. Ok fine no problem we move back to the original isle. And finally after 25 mins I am going to begin my return. Yay... Problem with the merchandise? I explain my grandmother shopped here often and recently passed away. Very friendly and understanding she proceeds to return the 2 dogs toys(11$), a small bottle of fish tank starter($13), and a fish tank pump (26$). I am told that without a receipt i'll be given credit. OK, that is what I expected I tell her. All set just waiting for another manager approval. After much debate i am then told the "medical fish product" is too old to return. I find the sell by date on the bottom marked 4 months from now. manager leaves and comes back. Now I'm being told that it is missing a seal and was used. I explain that can't be. I ask him to look at the others in store and i'm positive they don't have a seal. Ohh no we can't do that regardless because of the "medical" nature of the product. It was a simple small bottle of fish tank starter. This process takes another 25 minutes as the manager disappeared/reappeared every 10 minutes with a new reason they can't do it. Now i'm upset, late for work, and being lied to about numerous product details obviously incorrect with a glance at the items. I explain that is fine, I'm late for work this has taken an hour and we've accomplished nothing. More and more questions, disappearing/reappearing. We have only sold a few of these pumps lately he tells me, so no return on that item also. I ask him to at least swap out a exact brand & much lesser valued 10 gallon pump because I can't use this 50 gallon pump my tank is very small. No, sorry, can't do that. Fine, whatever.. I'm asked again for the 3rd time for my ID. then again to spell my last name as if it's not clearly on the ID i just gave you.. On an on it goes. mistake, start again. Finally I am handed store credit for the 2 dog toys. I ask for the remaining items I will not be able to return to be placed in a bag, as the bag I had brought them in is now gone, in the trash. Whatever.. No sorry yu have to buy something if you want a bag. I say nothing and leave. Absolutely furious for being treated in this manner. I have not returned an item in years if ever anywhere without a receipt, but it was obviously a simple matter of manager discretion and turned into a song and dance poorly executed, involving an inexperienced unqualified manager wasting my time & boosting his own ego. . The employees were very polite but the aquatics section is horrible! I was looking at the fish and noticed some of the platys had small white specks that looked like tiny grains of salt. IT WAS ICK!!! (better known as white spot disease). Its basically a parasite that multiplies and attaches itself to its host. Its very hard to get rid of and if not treated right away the fish dies and the parasites attach itself to the next fish. As an aquarium owner I highly recommend people NOT TO BUY FISH AT PETSMART only unless you inspect the fish first and make sure they're healthy before you buy them. read more

This is not the closest pet store to our house. We have 3 other pet stores closer to our house, but choose to go here because everyone is so nice, helpful and knowledgeable. I've been to stores where the employees are nice, but they don't know anything to help you or give you wrong advice..at this Petco, they actually know what they are talking about. Next topic..store cleanliness..the store is always clean and well stocked which makes me feel that they probably take pride in their business. Lastly, the animals we have gotten there (2 frogs, 4 hamsters, and a few beta fish) have all been really healthy. I would go to other stores and the animals didn't seem as healthy. For example, at Petco (near the marina)..the beta fish cups (that they come home in) would be dirty. When I purchase an animal, they are also willing to go with me down the isle and pick out things I need for the animal. I would definitely recommend this place. read more

Took my dog here for a last minute need of day care on a Saturday. My regular dog sitter doesn't usually work on weekends. The price was very good ($21) for 11 hours of play for my dog. She had a great time, and everyone was very nice, slow check in and out though. Unfortunately, I can't bring her back because I realized that the pee and pooping in an indoor setting doesn't work for us! She is a Chihuahua, about a year old from shelter. We are still working on getting her solid on the housebreaking, and this really didn't help. She peed in the house the following day. She was doing really well, and we had just been out for a walk about an hour prior, so I feel pretty certain her daycare experience encouraged her to think it is OK to pee indoors. I had mentioned to the caregiver when I picked her up that I was a bit worried about it causing a setback, and she told me no other pet parents had ever mentioned this being an issue. I thought I should write and let them and others know that it definitely COULD be a problem, if your dog is not solidly housebroken. This is a shame for us, since otherwise, it was great. I am now looking for weekend day care that includes indoor/outdoor facilities, and people who will help me reinforce the housebreaking training. This review is for the Pet Hotel. I am a huge fan and my bulldog absolutely loves it here. We have boarded her overnight on at least 5 different occasions since the spring and she has also been to the day camp several times. Making appointments is simple and the employees have always been pleasant. The thing I love about this place is that they really seem to care about the animals and they always remember my baby when she comes back to visit. My pup loves it so much she drags me from the parking lot to the pet hotel doors every single time and once she is in there she won't look at me twice or say goodbye because she is so excited to be back. I didn't give them 5 stars for two reasons...the first one is that every time we pick her up she smells terrible, but it really is to expected since she is boarding with a bunch of dogs. The other thing is that the last time I boarded her she got kennel cough, also not really surprising since boarding is the ideal environment to pick it up and you take that risk when you board anywhere. It wasn't a severe case and she has since recovered very nicely. This is my go to place for boarding and since my baby loves it so much and they take such good care of her I will be returning. read more

I agree with the previous poster....this really is the best PetSmart location I've been to as well. I've been so used to being ignored that I was completely surprised to be immediately greeted upon entering...I was literally a deer caught in the headlights...I was in awe. Wow! LoL. When I asked where the Pet Hotel was, I was escorted there. Another major wow! The attendant who checked my big guy in was very kind, courteous, and PATIENT with ME! LoL. I'm a very overbearing dog mom and I had a lot of post its, a lot of dos and don'ts and A LOT of demands. LoL. I'm very careful about what goes into my poochs' mouths...Wellness only, and all natural snacks with no byproducts...I wanted to be clear and the attendant was very, very patient with me, even though I probably gave him a hard time. Anyways, fast forward a day, we came up to pick up our happy pooch all dolled up with a handkerchief around his neck and he got a report card! This experience has really changed my mind about Petsmart. Since our bad experiences with previous Petsmart visits, we stopped going all together, in favor of our *FAVORITE Petco location in Westminster due to their professionalism and customer service. I was really impressed with the Carson Petsmart location and am entirely willing to give Petsmart another try! read more

I have always had great customer service with checkout employees, but overall I am disappointed with this store and will no longer be shop at Petsmart. For the second time in 3 years I have had my brand of catfood discontinued, and have had to go through the painful process of finding a healthy alternative my two cats will accept. Again, my catfood was discontinued, but the checkout person reassured me they could order it online for me. When I called to have it ordered (after looking at multiple other locations to buy this food), my phone conversation ended on a sour note after twenty minutes with the manager Vlada, who forgot she put me on hold, then told me she couldn't look up the SKU number to order it since they no longer have any in stock. She confirmed what I already knew based off of Petsmart's website- that no other stores have it in stock either. So there you go, I was told one thing by the nice staff at the store, but promises unfulfilled, no sort of resolution from the manager, and now I have to search again for a new catfood (that I can find ELSEWHERE)! I wanted to be sure that customers know about how the management at this Petsmart handled a very difficult (for me) situation and gave it a very good ending. I had taken my dog into the grooming salon. To make this short and sweet-it turned out to be an awful hair cut. I called the store and spoke to Stacy, the asst. mgr. who was so kind and understanding and not only told me that I could have a full refund but informed me that my next groom would be free. She even recommended a groomer that she trusted. When I came into the store for my refund, the manager (cannot remember her name-sorry) said that the recommended groomer could fix my dogs hair cut. She took my number and said she would call me with a time the next day. Wow! I know they cannot replace my dog's hair but they sure went above and beyond to compensate and make me feel better. They deserve a HUGE Brownie button and if I had one, I would pin it right on them both! Thank you Petsmart Towne Center Management! read more
