This review is not for the store, the store is not bad, it's for banfield, the pet clinic. Just to quick summarize the place, the staff is incompetent. I came in for a health certificate and it wasn't filled out full or correctly. I have a show dog that missed his plane due to their incompetence. It's not just the vet, they all suck at doing their jobs. The whole staff needs to be evaluated and possibly replaced. Day 1, I was told come now, I rushed home and dropped my work to get there on time. Once I got there turns out the girl in the clinic is not certified to give health certificates. Day 2 my gf brought the dog, they assumed he was stolen, than she asked for a state to state certificate and because he's going to Puerto Rico needs an international certificate! The staff in here is very nice and helpful. I'm mostly writing this review about the grooming salon. I moved here from NY and was looking for a groomer who would not kennel my dog at any point. I found out you can pay an extra $11 for express service at PetSmart, which means they work on your dog immediately and you can wait or run a quick errand and take them home as soon as the grooming is finished. Score! I also wanted to know that the groomers were kind and cared about the dogs they were working on because, like many people, my dogs are more like spoiled children than dogs. So, I watched groomers through the window a few times when I was shopping in there and picked out a few who I liked and saw 2 who were just too rough with the dogs. I've now taken my two dogs to 2 groomers there and I LOVE them both!! They're Ashley and Erica. Ashley has since been promoted and moved to another store location, but Erica is totally awesome and does a fabulous job. One of my dogs won't let me do anything to her, but she totally behaves (with a few grumbles) for Erica. Erica is also awesome at the nail grinding. Both of my dogs have dark nails and you can't see the quick. She has never once made either of them bleed and she's always able to get the nails really short and smooth... which I and my hardwood floors appreciate. There are many great groomers there, but I'm so comfortable with Erica that I never really trust my girls with anyone else. read more

DO NOT BUY FISH FROM HERE!!!!!! I went here to get a couple of sucker fish for my aquarium and after browsing the fish I had noticed a couple of dead fish in one of the tanks. When I mentioned it to the girl working that section she said "yeah" and nodded like it was no big deal and could really give a s**t, then continued with what she was doing. If that wasn't bad enough, the more I looked at all the tanks I noticed that there were dead fish in about 80% of them and one tank had a fish clearly suffering and almost lifeless. For a store that is specifically for selling pets, pet products and even holds events for people to come learn about how to love, protect and take care of their pets it was disgusting to see this. I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN THIS STORE AGAIN AND ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO DO THE SAME!! read more

PetSmart is one of the few places where we buy our shih tzu her food. They carry the specific brand we look for. There are other pet stores in Pearland, but this is where we always come back to. We also do her grooming here. Employees are knowledgeable about their products and are always very helpful. read more

I've heard horror stories from people about their PetSmart experiences but we've been generally pleased with this location. We've used their grooming service for nearly 3 years now and have had 2 groomers, in particular, that we have really liked and have requested countless times. Our dog hates coming in the store but is always in good spirits once it's time to go so, as far as we know, she is being treated really well while there...and that's all we ask for. 3.5 stars. read more

Super bummed I bought some platies from here and the fish were sick with Ick. The fish died within a day or two and the sickness spread to my other fish and now it's looking like I will lose most or all of my established aquarium to these contaminated fish. Would not recommend buying fish here if you do check very closely for white spots/signs of sickness. read more

My dog had an appointment today for a bath and grooming. The girl that checked us in said my dog had two tiny knots on her paw. She then proceeded to tell me that my dog would have to be shaved down to the skin all over. Are you kidding me?! We have been coming here for several years and have never been told that! Then she proceeds to tell me that is their policy. She also said they have raised their prices due to new management. Your prices were already too high to begin with! I called my backup groomer and they said my dog wouldn't have to be shaved for two tiny knots. Well I politely told Petsmart I would be going elsewhere for my dog's grooming. Now I understand why this location has such a poor rating! First of all I have been coming to this location since 2014! I had an appt for a bath not a groom a bath! I called 15 min prior to my appt and said I would be 15 min late for my appt. my appt was for 1:30 with Fan. Even though I am only 10 min away, the traffic getting on 518 today is a 20-30 min delay. She said that was fine. I arrived 2:00 so I was 30 min late. If this had been a grooming appt. I would have totally understood not taking me but it was a bath. I asked if my dog could be fit in and I was told flat out no, not let me check or let me find something for sunday or monday, nothing! I waited outside the door five minutes before I could check in because of other dogs and them taking forever . I had two dogs and a child and no compassion! I will NEVER return here again. And I will spread the word in my sorority, neighborhood association, job, and my social media! I am done. read more

The reason for 2 stars is due to the experience at the grooming salon. First off we did not get greeted as soon as we walked in, employees were glued to their computers and ignoring us. Second our dog was getting treated for fleas and before taking him we noticed he was clear, as soon as we got him back he started scratching again and it seemed to be a problem once again. We did get treated nicely at the cash register but that is about it. We will not be back to that grooming salon again. read more

I had the worst experience ever on January 11,2022. I went in to pick up my fur baby Chewy and I was told that I needed to pay first, a new policy due to people just walking out and I said okay, not a problem. After I paid my bill I went back to the grooming to get him and I had to wait in line with 2 people ahead of me. I had a conversation with the lady in front of me and I asked her if she had been made aware of the NEW POLICY and she said no. When it was her turn she walked in, she was given her bill and her dog. The new rules did not apply to her. I immediately walked in there and asked to speak to the manager and she was the same person there when I first arrived to get Chewy. I was furious and did not want to discuss my frustration with her since she was the one that ALLOWED it. I advised her that I would just contact corporate! I left very upset and disappointed about the way I had been treated. By the time I made it home the manager she said her name was Jasmin called me to apologize and said that she wasn't thinking when she did was she did. I'm a woman of color and of course the customer that she made the exception for was of course a caucasian! So I made an appointment for my seven month old German shepherd to get groomed by these so called groomers. I should've of known that they weren't going to be able or want to deal with my dog because all they had in there were little poodle type dogs. My boy Ziggy has never been aggressive, he lives with small children, plays with another poodle that resides on my street, and because he was barking at other dogs they refused to see him. Mind you, he was just seen on 5/11 at Shadow Creek Clinic where there are several dogs. It just goes to show the difference in the quality of service. read more

I had an appointment for 2:00 PM with Gabriella to have my dog's haircut. It had become hot out early in the season and he was really suffering from his long coat. At 2:08 I realized we were running late for our appointment and I called them to let them know that we were on our way to our appointment. They said we would need to be there by 2:15. We arrived in the saloon at the back of the store at 2:19 and they had canceled the appointment and had nobody else that could see us. Gabriella was packing up to go home for the day and personally told me she had canceled the appointment. Very very poor customer service. We are leaving to go on a 2-week trip and my dog will not have a haircut now for 2 weeks. I will never darken the door of this store again. They just lost a customer of 15 years. You should go somewhere else for your pet care needs. They are understaffed and disorganized and the manager obviously has no control over employees. Came in here to buy some food and all the essentials for a puppy. Who knew there were so many different brands of food for a dog?! I kept going down the isles since this is my first time ever having a puppy. I was so overwhelmed at how many different options there are for anything for a puppy. I bought a cage, food, brush, spray shampoo, and some canned food. When I first walked in a guy at the register greeted me. I went to the same guy when I was going to check out and he was very helpful, he told me about the puppy handbook that had lots of coupons that costs about $20 dollars, I declined. He also let me know that the cage I was buying was about 30 dollars cheaper on their website, and that he could price match. That was awesome! I have 3 dogs so I'm in here a lot. The store it self is kept pretty clean. The customer service is generally fast and friendly and their prices are overall cheaper then their main competitor. They also have a Banfield Pet Hospital and and as in most PetsMarts, dog training available at this location (although I've never used either) The groomers here in the grooming department do a reasonably good job with my dogs. The only problem I have is that some of the isles at this store tend to stay disorganized with things thrown out of place by customers not being put back by employees where they belong. Most of the time when I come here, service is pretty alright. The last two times, though, not so good. Instead of carrying a bunch of store cards in my wallet, I put it all on my phone using the Keyring app. Well, when I went up to the counter to pay and showed my keyring app for Petperks the cashier JAZMINE, tells me she can't do that. I tell her I use it all the time and have never had a problem - all you have to do is punch in the numbers. She then tells me she can't read the numbers. Seriously?? Are they now hiring people that can't read??? I told her to call someone else to the register bc someone else will know how to do it. After a while, she reluctantly calls for help - only after the line behind me started to get long. The other cashier had no problem punching in the numbers so I could get my savings for having a Petperks card. It took less than 30 seconds. Jeez! This is the first time I've ever had a problem with an employee there. JAZMINE did not even look like she wanted to be there working. If you don't want to work, then don't. But if you do have to work to pay your bills, then at least try to do a mediocre job of it instead of coming across as a lazy, dumb, illiterate idiot. I ended up having to go back a few days later and asked her a question about the training class. Again, she doesn't know any answers and doesn't even want to ask anyone for help - basically ignoring me. She couldn't even point me in the right direction. She seriously needs to be let go. People like that don't need to be working anywhere where they have to come in contact with customers bc all she does is set a very bad image for the store and all other employees. If my first encounter with this store had been with her, then I would never have gone back. Ever. On another note, one day I decided to go have a look at their grooming area. Well, I saw a groomer with one dog that apparently didn't want his/her hair trimmed. After a while, it looked like the groomer got a bit mad and then just scooped the dog up and took it to the back. PetSmart is like every other store. It's a hit or miss depending on the associate that is helping you, but so far I've had either a really good experience or just horrible. For instance, the first time I had to make an exchange for my 30in crate to an 36in crate, it was a 10min stop and the sales associate called for help and did the whole transaction in one move. I had the crate for about a couple of weeks. A couple of days ago, I went to trade in my 36in crates for a 42in crates. The sales associate did not seem like she wanted to be there. I came around 7pm so it was the end of the day and I understand that she might be tired. I wanted to make an exchange for my two 36in crate for 3 42in crate. She was processing my return and I informed her that I would like to do the whole transaction at once. She just looked at me annoyed and canceled my whole transaction. Then moved my stuff to the side and told me to go get the other crates. Well I informed her that I'm going to need help since I can't carry 3 42in crate at once nor can the crates hold it. At this point she looked at me like I was "one of those difficult consumer." She called in another associate to help me out and he was great. He helped get the crates, process the transaction, and helped me carry the crates back to my car. It really is a hit or miss, and one bad experience can't represent the store as a whole since not everyone is like that base on one rude person. read more

I'm here alot to get dog food and pill pockets. This place is forever busy. I usually like to go to the back of the store where grooming is done. Its kinda cute to see some people watch their babies get groomed. I decided I wanted to try their groomers for my terrier. Every time I called they were booked for the day. Finally I was able to Schedule an appointment on a Saturday. 1) I call. They tell me I need current vaccine rabies info. OK. I get their fax number so my dog vet can fax over the info . I Schedule my dog for a 7am groom. Mind you.... The grooming process takes 3 hrs. So I decide to take her before work and pick her up at noon. 2) I call the next day to confirm they got the info. They ask me what my name is, what kind of dog I have , and have I been there before. I tell the lady my dog has an appointment @ 7am. She then tells me My dog is Not Scheduled. I then get PO ed...... That's just not cool. So I make another appointment for 930am. Because I can only drop her off at 730am. She assures me it's scheduled. I just need the current vaccine info from her vet. I then tell her I already did. That's way u called to confirm you got the Fax. She then tells me "there's only one Fax in the store. The vet need. To put on the fax Attn : groomers " I then say "that's what they did ." she then says " Ooohhh..... Let me look. She finds it and tells me OK you're booked @ 9am. OK. Them we hangup. 4) I call back 2 mins later because I didn't give her my number to confirm the appointment. Another lady answers the phone. We then go through... What's your name , dogs name, kind of dog. She then tells me my dog has an appointment @7am. And they **Don't** do confirmation calls. She then puts me on hold to check for an appointment on Saturday. She then tells me I have a 930am appointment and I can drop her off at anytime before then. I say "thank you" and "What's"s your name, Mame. She says" Uhhh huh.... And Hangs Up on me!!! 5) I immediately call back... Same lady answers. I ask what time do you'll close? She says 9p. I say OK thank. She then says " how can I help you?" I say just needed to go up there after work. Then I hang up. 6) (I go to the store to confirm and appointment because I'm dropping her off before work. If no Apptpointment is schduled...then i have to call someone to get her from my job....NOT cool..to go to work with my dog in tow) I get there and they are super duper busy. There's 5 dogs. Two are getting picked up and three are being groomed. And there's 5 groomers and 4 people waiting ( including me). A groomer finally comes up to the register and asks " what can I do for you?" I tell her about the appointment mix up and I want to confirm the appointment again. She confirms it and then asks about Vaccine records . I tell her. They were faxed. She finds them and notes them in the log book. Because no one bothered to note I faxed the info. The next day My terriers orginal Groomer called because she saw me on the caller ID. If Petsmart can't get an appointment straight.....What else are they doing wrong??????? i cancelled the appointment.....needless to say. This is the only place that I know of that sells Purina Pro Plan, so Penelope and I stop in about once a month for her food. We have also had her groomed here, but she did not seem to like the experience. They were supposed to call when she was done, but they did not. I stopped by about 30 minutes before they closed and they told me that they were about to call me because she had been done for about an hour. AVOID THIS PETSMART IN THE PEARLAND LOCATION AT ALL COST!! NOT EVEN WORTH A STAR! This is the absolute worse place to take your pet because the management does not care about the safety of you or your pet! On 11/06/17 we were in the toy aisle when our dog was attacked by a pit bull who was unleashed and had just left their grooming area. The owner of the other dog just left during the following commotion and the store manager said they wouldn't assume any liability or help contact the owner either. In the next few days in a continued effort to wash their hands of the incident, the manager James, showed his complete incompetence when he stated that it's not mandatory for all breeds to be on leashes or contained.... what kind of BS is this!? Not only is it listed in their policy online it's a Pearland city law! I for one care for the wellness of all pets and human beings and that is why I am posting this review. This place is absolutely fabulous if you are there for animal related stuff such as purchasing a new animal foods etc. I have no dealings with the grooming or veterinary clinic so can't offer an opinion there. The young guy Gabriel is hands down fantastic. He was so willing to answer all of our stupid questions and kept a smile on his face even though I'm sure I was bugging the crap out of him. I met him through a reptile Facebook group and he is so knowledgeable about everything reptile related I've come across. I had read a rather obnoxious comment earlier about this young man and it broke my heart. Someone was picking on him about his tattoos and piercings but yet he was the ONLY person there who was willing to treat as like we weren't a bother. To that I say thank you!!!!! I also buy my dog food here because they are one of the few places that carry Royal Canin weight care formula dog food. Associates are always helpful and the groomers are phenomenal. This has to be the worst customer service have recieved. All they care is about an easy job and easy money. My mom took our dog to get groomed, she dose not understand English 100% much less read it. They explained in English and had her sign a paper in English, charged her $66 to complete shave our poodle. They claimed that was the only option they had. When I called the manager he was worst than the employee, he said and I quote; she signed a paper, I said in English that she diar not know how to read, he did she an adult and she signed so we don't have to refund anything. I asked so you have someone sign a paper they don't understand and this seems correct to you? He said yes she sign. I'm just disappointed in this place y'all lost a customer, and trust me I will tell everyone I can about the bad experience. You work in customer service, we paid for a service, over paid at that, we were not happy and this is your solution?! This review is only regarding the groomer, Vidi. So, I'm just returning from picking my dog up from the groomers. I am completely pissed off. He's been going to Petsmart grooming since January 2015 and James is his usual groomer (by the way James is AWESOME), but only twice has another groomer cut my dog. The first girl, I can't remember her name, she asked me if I want the usual and I said yes, which is to keep my dog face fluffy. I was nervous because it wasn't James, but in the end I was satisfied. After James grooms him again, but until today he was groomed or should I say butchered by Vidi. I told her I want the usual; I told her James usually cuts him and she said " yeah, James likes to leave the face full." I told her that's what I want. She said "ok." 4 hours later I comeback to see my dog not looking like my dog. People avoid Vidi because she did the opposite of what I asked. I wanted to speak with her, but she already left. Went to the store an hour before closing. Because all the chains are set up the same was able to easily locate the brand of dog food needed. That was the quick part. Entered checkout with five customers in line ahead of us. Although three lights were lit on registers only two were manned and one active. The first was actually ringing up purchases; the second was working with a customer on adoption. I asked if it was possible to call someone else to the front to assist with checkout. The cashier assisting with adoption said they didn't have any else available and the manager was helping another customer. Something happened with the adoption and the customer (not the cashier) alerted us that we could move over and check out. Was able to check out quickly once the line opened. read more

I dropped my yorkie off for grooming when I returned his right eye was blood shot red. When I questioned the staff they treated me as if I was wrong for being concerned. The Banfield doctor tried to insist he had gotten into rat poison which I do not have in my home. She was a complete joke. Only saying there was definitely trauma to the eye. I didn't pay for the grooming service and will never shop there again I'd rather drive back into Houston. read more

I had previously been bringing my Chiweenie to the Petsmart location on Beltway 8 in Pasadena for a while to get her nails clipped ( she is feisty and won't let me do it)-- and the only person able to do it properly was GIBBS in the grooming salon.... She had been relocated to the Silverlake location ( I think she is the grooming salon manager now?) and I still bring my dog to her, even though I have to drive further.. I will NEVER let any other groomer touch my dog!!!! She is fantastic, caring, committed to providing first-rate customer service and has the most pleasant personality,-- plus my dog adores her....I highly recommend GIBBS to anyone who wants to gets their pets groomed, in my opinion she is the best groomer around !!!
