Don't go to this store! This is a new PetSmart. It replaced the one across the freeway that closed. The new store is awful. It's incredibly small so you feel like you've got a hundred other shoppers climbing all over you. The parking lot is a complete mess and it takes 15 or 20 minutes just to get in and out of the parking lot. Finally, I had not one but two terrible experiences with one particular employee at this new store. I've been a loyal PetSmart customer for years and years and years, but I'll never go back to PetSmart now. read more

Yes, it's small. But on a more positive note, I love the new convenient location. Dog training is definitely more cramped but as long as Im getting the information I need, I can practice with my pitbull Lucy at home. I highly recommend the dog training. Poor half alive fish (check the betta fish shelves) and terrible customer service. Waited 20 min trying to get help in the fish section, lots of time to see the mold growing in the hermit crab tank and the many half alive and almost dead betta fish out on display. I haven't had any bad experiences here. I usually come here when I visit fam in richmond and you can find me in the doggie aisles. They have a huge selection of everything. Tons of different brands of food, cleaning supplies and accessories. So far my encounter with the staff has been nothing but pleasant. Sad to see that there are so many bad reviews. :/ But my experience here was excellent! I moved to this area, from San Diego so I was in need of a grooming salon for my Maltese. My boyfriend, had brought in his Alaskman Malamute in for grooming as well and they did such a great job! His dog is huge and has a lot of shedding. When our Malamute came home he was so well groomed and his fur was nice and soft. So, I decided, why not give it a try? I've been going to PetSmart for almost a year now and I have no complaints. They always call me at a timely manner to let me know when my dog is ready and he always looks so happy after he's done! Also, the cut I always get is usually the same so they know when I tell them. I've never had to deal with bad customer service, they are very nice and today after picking up my dog from his hair grooming I picked up some treats and new toys! The employees are very knowledgeable, I left with happy with no hesitations of the things I bought. Also, I noticed people have said their dogs have gotten fleas there. To be honest, I was hesitant about going back to get my dog groomed today. But I'm glad I did. I never experienced my dog getting fleas there. :/ I will say that the grooming area is a little smelly but hey, it's a grooming salon so it's understandable! read more

I have only been here to buy dog food/treats/toys. I usually get the Basics Blue Buffalo brand. He has issues with being itchy and scratching all the time before and I was advised that it might be due to the chicken by-products in his food. I used to get chicken flavored dog food all the time but not anymore. The dog eats only the Basics line from Blue Baffalo which has no chicken by-products. I do see a change and will be sticking to this dog food line. Customer service has been very good. There's usually people walking around to assist and one cashier in the front. No experience with the grooming, dog training, or vet services here. read more

From the employees to the managers, there was no friendly welcome and don't even bother asking them for help, they actually take offense to that. Im going to leave this place two sets of reviews because I feel that all the departments can't be lumped together. The floor staff is great, very friendly and helpful. I have a new puppy and the staff has been supportive. Signed the puppy up for some training classes and that process was smooth too. My grooming expreince however.....The staff was uuumm.....gossip about fellow staff was happening, phones were being answered while customers were waiting. All I felt was chaos while in there. It had the feel of a place where training was poor and employees may not be fully appreciated because they didn't seem to want to be there. I was alil nervous to bring my dog to a "new" grooming service because he's so use to me grooming him I thought he would be nervous however when we got there Bobby one of the stylist had a wonderful approach and made my wittle guy feel so comfortable. I explained to Bobby that I wanted a low cut and mo-hawk ( I have a ShihTzu) he told me not a problem. I returned to pick him up and he looked sooooooooo cute and cool. Omg I was about to cry..he was a beauty ....Thanks so much Bobby! Bobby has styled him now 3x already and he keeps KoKo looking good! Awesome work and Thank YOu . PetSmart grooming may be a good fit if you have a tiny dog that doesn't make a peep. At least that's the impression I received today. I took our dog in to be groomed and was called after they had given her a bath. Apparently, she was too difficult for them to handle to cut her hair and nails. By difficult, she "defecated twice after her bath" and was "excitable", they also mentioned that she was "barking at other dogs". I asked if they could let her relax for a bit and try, I also let them know that the vet used a trimmer on her and she was fine, but they continued to say they would not even try "for her safety". When I went to pick her up the groomer felt the need to further explain by telling me the same thing they told me on the phone but added "I don't even know if she'd let me groom her" to which I wanted to reply "there's only one way to find out":)...but I was pissed so I tried not to say too much. We are fostering a retriever mix who just arrived from a shelter in China who recently rescued her from a bad situation. She doesn't know much, but she is smart, she's a pleaser, she has a foster brother (our Chesapeake Bay Retriever) and I explained to them that she didn't like the vet trying to cut her nails (this is what the vet told us, we weren't there, so we don't know what actually happened), but we've had success giving her ear medicine and she has never shown aggression to us. I understand that everyone wants to do what's safe for both the dog and themselves, but what I can't comprehend is how they didn't even attempt to continue with the service just because she went to the bathroom and was excited (around a ton of other dogs). Long story short, my partner came home, we watched half of two YouTube videos and trimmed all her nails with no issues or blood. I thought I was taking her to professionals, but that does not seem to be the case. read more

We had the an incident on Feb, 2015 where our beagle was handled rough by a lady groomer. Before the grooming starts, My wife was ask to leave so our female beagle can calm down when owner is not around, she oblige and stand at location that's not visible to her. I was initially thinking my wife could be over reacting when she came complaining to me minutes later while i was shopping for treats, when I came by to observe for about a minute, I notice the groomer force stretch the front legs too far while our pet is crying in pain, she continues to push her around and force the leg at a position that I find disturbing, I walk in and wanted to her to stop the service since she is in pain, the lady defended that our beagle is trying to bite before we started mention anything else, I went on to state that she handled her too rough and she's in pain. When I ask for her name calmly, she just storm to the back and said she don't appreciate my comment that our beagle was not properly handled. the rest of the staff stands and chat like nothing has happen and no one is willing to provide her name and attend to me when I was standing there with my pet for several minutes. Our beagle is 11 and have arthritis, who in right mind would continue to treat a family pet rough when a pet is already crying in pain, the lady groomer continues to pull her leg far and at the same time chatting away with another male groomer next to her and grinding the nails without even looking at it. She is either extremely experience to know where to grind without looking and when to stop or she's just half hearted in this job. We have been going to the same petsmart for regular medical checkup for last 5 years and have used the gooming for last several years. It's the first time we have observe this Our pet is treated like a non living object when the groomer forecefully pushing her around to get to position she needs. I will never send my pet back to the same place ever with such employee attitude. read more

My review is for the grooming services here. I have two dogs, one who is 5 years old and quite feisty and the other who is almost 15 years old. I brought both of them in for a bath and a nail trim with Jocelyn, one of the groomers there. I honestly was nervous bringing them in as it was their first time in a grooming salon, but she was so gentle with both of them, especially my older girl, and I was very pleased with the results! I would give less then 1 star if I could. It took me a week to try to make an appointment with our regular groomer Vivian. And they're online appointment doesn't work. Finally schedule for Friday only to receive a message on my machine an hour later that it was canceled. I called back to find out it was never scheduled in the first place. Tried to speak to the manager only for them to hang up on me. Called back they hung up on me again. Finally got through to the manager to find out Vivian no longer worked there anymore. Well I guess I know why now. Because no one there knows what they're doing there now that a new manager is there. Petsmart just lost two clients, Cupcake and Cookie. Vivian was not only an excellent groomer, but truly loved both of my little dogs. She will be missed. read more

Took my husky mix in for grooming and de shedding. My dog came out shedding even more than when she went in! The package I paid for was for de shedding shampoo and brushed with furminator. I feel like she wasn't brushed at all. $70 for a damp dog who's shedding worse now. read more

I always bring my dog, Luke here every 2 weeks for grooming. The staff is really great in taking care of him. I get my dog food here as well. Their rewards program gives me a lot of special discounts. I even got Luke trained here by Alex and his dog. My daughter likes to come here and look at the birds, snakes, lizards, fishes and the cats. The staff is really engaging and they always tell me what to buy: food content, product durability, and the best price. read more

I literally just brought my pooch here for grooming. It took a few hours because they are busy but Melissa did a great job. The body was shaved a bit too short, but I am impressed that she was thorough with the grooming, the anal gland was emptied without me asking, and she made comments on my baby's nails, that they were in good shape and that his teeth were clean. That sure makes me happy! Overall it was a good deal with a reasonable price. Thanks Melissa! I also like the store for it's reasonable price compare to Petco. And the staff are very nice. My experience training my small, high strung terrier-mix with PetSmart regional training ambassador "Alex Krikorian" could not have been better! He was patient and incredibly knowledgeable and made sure that each student in his group class (all of whom had puppies under a year) got his full attention. Nice, but expensive an for the size of the store they really don't have that much. I couldn't even get a cat tag, because all they have are dog tags for engraving. She has now groomed my VERY SPOILED dramatic Schnauzer twice and SHE IS AMAZING. :) PROFESSIONAL, loving,caring and while my dog is never happy about grooming; she loves Steph. This review is based primarily on the "manager" Janet. I've shopped this store several times and though no ones ever been super friendly, they haven't been rude either so as a store itself it give it a 3. My experience tonight however was a different story. My husband and I are walking through the aisles and I'm pushing the shopping cart and start to slip. I thankfully didn't fall because I grabbed onto the cart and caught my balance (I'm 5 months pregnant...falling would be extra bad for that reason alone) I looked down and there's a huge area of dog urine. I wasn't upset with the store whatsoever, but I told my husband to go find a worker and inform them that there's a mess on aisle 17 and I would wait there with my shopping cart covering it to avoid anyone else from slipping or falling. He comes back a moment later looking irritated and I asked if he found someone. He said he did and she told him there's a pet cleanup station at the end of the aisle. He informed her it wasn't our pet who done it (we don't work there, we're not going to clean up after another dog. Sorry) she then became snippy and said well I'll clean it up later then! I was upset with this because not only did she talk to my husband in a disrespectful tone, she showed she could care less about her customers falling and hurting themselves AND HELLO!! SUING THE COMPANY! so I made my way to the front to check out and I asked to speak to a manager (not knowing SHE was the manager). The cashier, who was friendly, called for Janet and said there was a customer who would like to speak to her. After waiting several minutes, Janet finally walks up (my husband informing my that she was the one he spoke too) and she looks at us and keeps walking. Seriously? She walks into the back and disappears. Didn't say a word to us. (I know it was Janet because of her name tag) we then go to another cashier who was ready for next in line and by now I'm very upset. I told the young lady, also a friendly girl, that there's a bunch of dog pee on aisle 17 and I almost fell in it and someone should clean it up before a customer gets hurt and sues them. I also said it's ridiculous that I'm spending my money at a store where the so called manager could give a rats ass about her customers and their safety. After my little rant we walk out of the store and as I'm putting the shopping cart away, Janet comes out and peeks around the wall to see if we had left, MAKING EYE CONTACT WITH US then walks away. She intentionally waited until she thought we were gone before she came out. I'm beyond upset and I am going to be calling to speak with someone else about this issue tomorrow. I like the store it's just a shame they have her as a manager. They are very lucky that I didn't fall and harm myself or my unborn child. Again, I understand it's not the stores fault there was urine on the ground, I'm upset that she cared so little about it and instead of going to clean it up she became snippy and said she would do it later. Didn't ask if I was okay, didn't say thank you for notifying her..nothing but a sharp tone and a lack of concern about anyone else. Very disappointed. read more

I really like this Petsmart. I've never used the grooming service, but I've shopped in the store, use the Banfield vet, and used their training services. The store is always clean, and I've always been greeted and been approached by friendly staff. I've had a FANTASTIC experience with their dog trainer, Alex. We've gone through their intermediate training, as well as their private training. Their prices are decent and even better during sales, and I like that its a relatively large store with a variety of products and friendly staff. Its a one-stop shop for pet supplies, vet, and training. My dog loves coming here, so I do too :) read more

Customer services is terrible at this store. Today I went shopping and while waiting in line to pay my purchase, the cashier/clerk said he has to help a customer bring her purchase to her truck. He simply left he came back later and. Instead of apologizing, he went to chat with somebody in a side room. I then went to another line Another clerk opened up and instead of letting me pay first I had to go to the end of another line and wait. I wasted about and hour to pay for my purchased. This was so rude. No one wanted to take. Responsibility and nobody knew who the manager was. This is an awful place. I am doing most of my shopping elsewhere. I onlyshopat this location because it is close to where I live. I think this young man needs training in Common sense, common courtesy and customer services. One of the groomers at this location. Do not, and I repeat do not have Jr. groom your dog. I have a 5 year old poodle mix weight 6 lbs, that was returned to me with razor burns and a bleeding cut on the side of his neck.
