The grooming department is amazing! We have a 150lb Newfoundland with skin issues and long hair that mats easily! Steph is awesome! She is very knowledgeable and takes great care! I have to write a review for our groomer Stephanie, for the top notch service she provides us and the wonderful experience we have with her. We came to know Stephanie when she worked at PetSmart at Concord. After she left that store, we made phone calls to several PetSmarts just to find out where she went. We were so glad to have finally found her, and she took us in like a family member. Not only that she always does the best haircut for our dog Maya, she is also very caring and loving to Maya as if Maya were her doggie as well. She took pictures of Maya during the grooming and sent them to us - it was a big relieve to know that our baby Maya was calm during the grooming. When she was out on maternity leave, she arranged to have a colleague to cover Maya during her absence. She sent us pictures of her baby boy (a very adorable baby) and updated us on her status. My husband and I have no children but our dog Maya, who is our only child. It is really reassuring to know that Maya is in good hands. If you are like us, I highly recommend you go to Stephanie! They lost a customer today. I took my puppy to for his grooming at 12pm and they did not call me after 4 hrs. I decided to show up at 4pm. I get there and they ask me if I was coming to pick up I said yes. I give them my puppies name. They give me the invoice and said he was ready to go and pay at the cashier. I paid and went to pick up my pup at the grooming so he is all excited to see me I walk outside and started noticing his hair was the same. As i grab him to smell him he was not bathed! I am was upset. I go back and tell them I want my money back because they did not do anything to him but kept him caged for 4 hrs! Most likely they forgot about him. They still argued that they had bathed him which i said it was not true because i smelled him. The girl didnt say anything back but said if I wanted to wait till 4:30 i said no. His appnt was 4 hrs ago. I also observed them keep taking dogs without appointments while i patiently waited to be helped. Their priority should be appointments. They did not even apologize! Bad job and bad customer service. They tried fooling me by charging me for anything. Ive had plenty of bad expiriences at this grooming place besides this one that was the last one. Never again! Groomers are bunch of young people where they were horsing around, laughing and act out to each other, not taking their job/career seriously. It shocks me when I saw this young man groomer holding down this very small, young puppy and tries to shave his hind legs.. The puppy struggled and he was frustrated and began to pushed puppy down even harder.. Puppy cries out, I yelled at him that he will break the puppy's back, that's when he let go & turned to his silly colleagues and said " I am going to send this one home" with the stupidest gesture. You look around, they just gravitates to each other's silliness and not paying attention to their clients ( dogs) and customers. This is the worse pet store I have ever shopped at. I hate going into the store looking around and around and around (no one says "may I help you) so much that I placed an order online for store pickup. Even though the website showed the item available for pickup with in one hour, I received an email telling me one of the items I ordered was not available. Because of this, I decided not to pick up any of the items. I emailed their customer support group and asked to have the entire order cancelled. Needless to say, the CUSTOMER SUPPORT group could not cancel the order and directed me to call the store. I called the store and the phone rang and rang and rang and rang -- no one answered the phone. I called the "800" number for customer support and asked them to call the store. The phone rang and rang and rang and rang. No answer. I called the next day as soon and the store opened and asked to cancel the order and get a refund. Even though I was told the order has been cancelled, I'm still waiting on my refund. All of this took place between 11/29/18 and 12/3/18. Basically Petsmart stole my money. I opened a dispute with my bank. Hopefully they will be able to get my money back. Stay away from this hell hole of a store!! read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! the attendant tried to sell us expensive fish and when we told her we wanted something else, she stomped over to the tank and basically man handled the fish into the bag! Then proceeded to almost toss the bag at us!! This is no way to treat your customers, just because they won't buy what you suggested! Someone needs to seriously take better management of the grooming department. Theres a bunch of kids working there which have not been taught to be in a professional working environment. I called to make an appointment for my dog to get a haircut and bath and the guy on the phone had no idea what pricing was, had to put me on hold without hitting a mute button was asking around to see if anyone would take my dog and all I could hear were a bunch of kids laughing and playing around and when he came back to me on the phone he said no they were all booked up for the day. If they were booked for the day they should have some type of appointment book to figure that out, clearly none of the kids that were there wanted the work. I have used petsmart grooming in the past and they seem to do a pretty good job, but the staff needs to be taught better customer service skills. read more

Groomers here are just awful. They act like they do not even like dogs, no patience what so ever. I brought my terrier in for cut only and told staff I would be waiting outside and watch from window. The groomer, Natalie was pulling and jerking my dog's leash, to get him to cooperate. When I saw this, I came into salon and asked her to stop doing that, her response was, "well he would let me trim around his face". I explained that being agressive with a scared dog will not make him calm down. Another groomer can to help her and proceeded to do the same thing, jerking my dog by the leash. I stopped the session and decided to take my dog some place else for grooming. These young women do not have patience and clearly do not like what they do. Any dog owner who brings their beloved pet there will do so at the expensive of their poor pet, that cannot speak for themselves. STAY AWAY!!! read more

I usually go to pet food express but they were closed so I went to to pet smart instead. Bad move on my Part. I looked for the food I usually buy for my dog and couldn't find it. While looking I stepped on dog poop(yeah dog poop in the store). So I found an employee a long haired Asian gentleman. I asked do you have the dog food I'm looking for? He didn't even bother to look around for it he just said pet stores have different dog foods. Ok so then I said there's also dog poop on the floor. His reply oh really ok thanks and continued to hang things on the wall. Then I found a dog food kinda like the food I usually buy. On my way to check out I still see the same gentleman hanging stuff in the same spot dog poop still sitting there. As I stood in line guess who opened up a register Mr.long hair. So for this experience alone I give 1 star and will no longer go to this establishment. If it wasn't for my dogs about to starve I would have just waked out and not given them my business. read more

I used to come here to buy a lot of supplies for my dog cat and snake ...but I stopped once I decided to try their grooming service. I'd give it zero stars if I could. Worst groomers ever. Very rude and unhappy to be working here.They act like they do not even like dogs. If you don't like animals, maybe you shouldn't be working at a pet store?! The groomer did a good job clipping my cats nails. The reason for my low rating is because when I walked in the grooming salon it stunk, something fierce. Smelt like a bunch of dirty wet dogs and my cat ended up coming home with fleas. read more

So far so good. I have used this PetSmart a few times now. Mainly for online in store pick up purchases. The staff is friendly, I have never actually needed to ask any additional questions of them aside from where things are or to check out, but even then the manager is a nice lady the cashiers are friendly. They have a nice wide selection of items, and store pick up is super fast! Just go to any register and say you want to pick up your item, they'll hand it to you and you are off on your way. I have also returned some in store pick up items and the return was super fast and easy. I have yet to have any issues at this location. Each time we take our Siberian Husky they are nice and offer him treats. This location has pet training and grooming but I have not used these services, just for your information. I would highly recommend this store aside from the additional services I have yet to use, if I do use them I will make sure to update my review. read more

I ordered a dog bed online and unfortunately it was too small for my dog. When I went to the return instructions you have to call them for a return label. In this age of the internet who makes you call for a return label? You go on line contact the company and they email you the label. So I called. 15 minute wait on line. Never got the label. Called back, another wait, my label order was never placed. When the woman completed my request she said I'd get the label in one to two weeks! She was gone before I could ask how it could possibly take so long. Worst service ever. read more

We been taking our 2 lovely beagles for nail grinding here for last few years. Service never been to our satisfaction, but some how acceptable. What happened today is totally make us angry and we never will go there anymore. First of all we waited for a long time, before we got checked in. Catastrophe start as soon, as new groomer( male) took one of our dogs. He has no knowledge of this job at all. He couldn't do nail grinding. He got female groomer to help and hold our dog. He was grinding very painfully for our dog and lady was holding our dog so hard in the neck area. They still couldn't do the job. Finally experienced groomer came to rescue and finish the job. After we got our dog back, her eyes were all deeply RED- it means, that lady hold our dog too strong in the neck area- make our dog struggle, it was real ASFIXIA. I have no words. People, who can't work, shouldn't do it, they should really learn before start experimenting on life animals. WE WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN. read more

I absolutely love this petsmart location. I take all of my dogs to the grooming salon. I go to the Pinole location about once a month. I was shocked to read some of these bad reviews. I don't understand what some people expect. If their dog is aggressive the groomer has every right to refuse service or take necessary precautions. Besides if your dog is aggressive why take it to an ordinary grooming salon and risk an employees safety? I really don't know what they expect. I also have never had a negative experience in regards to customer service. Everyone greets me kindly and accommodates my needs. However I am patient and understand that these employees are very busy and sometimes it requires me to wait to be checked in. I love my dogs and trust the groomers to treat them kindly as if they were their own. On the other hand I do understand that if my dog is misbehaving they may be stern with her or him. I look forward to returning to this Petsmart. The groomers and the bathers always meet my pups needs. I hope some people acknowledge the struggles these employees face and learn to have some patience. In reality if you aren't satisfied with the work they do then maybe you should learn to do it yourself and realize it's harder then in looks. The same goes with their groomer being late to appointments. I would rather speak to my groomer myself to make sure they know exactly what dogs needs are instead being impatient and have someone relay the message. This was my first time here as I was only in the area to run some other errands. I'm surprised to see so many bad reviews here on Yelp, my only gripe was that I was put on hold 4 times when I called to make the appointment. I brought my dog into the store on time and I asked the girl how long it would take to groom him. She looked him over, checked out his coat, asked how short I wanted it, whether I wanted the nails filed, etc. She said it would take two hours, and two hours later I got a call. The dog was done. I called their grooming department and asked if they had time to groom my three german shepherds. I was told they could do it and brought them in and arranged for them to be brushed and bathed, and for their toenails to the trimmed. When I picked up the dogs after paying for the service their coats were a bit damp. I was in a bit of a hurry and did not check my dogs until I got home with them. I found that none of the work had been done, which makes me suspect that when I called to check if they were ready, and was told they were, they found that the groomer had not done the work and wet them a bit to make me think they were groomed. I will NEVER take my dogs back to this business. read more

This review is about the management and lack of communication from the grooming dept. Scheduled my appointment online (where the dog's weight is listed) then received a call the next day saying they could not accommodate a large dog (65 lbs) because that groomer was already booked. The next soonest they could offer me was in 2 weeks so I said forget about it. I received a appointment confirmation email 2 days before so I called them to ask why since they cancelled it. They said another groomer offered to help bathe the dogs so it would be ok. I bring my dog in for the appointment and I'm told he has to stay for 4-5 hours because the groomer has 3 other dogs she's working on at the same time. Poor communication and management of schedules. I refuse to leave my dog crated up for 4-5 hours because they only care about $ and overbooked. Poor customer service and they don't deserve my patronage. read more

i just came to buy my dog a small bag of dog food. getting in line, there was this lady ahead of me with a big transaction - i believe she was returning stuff and buying something else and the prices were not what she paid for, etc. i saw those lady employees near by and none of them even offered to ring me up since i've been there for a while. none of them even acknowledged me and assured me that someone will be right there to assist me. then i saw one of those ladies ringing up items for a couple who just came in in another register so i approached that employee and asked her if she's open and she just simply said "no." i just got so pissed off and tossed my dog food and left. so frustrated. you have to teach your employees "customer service!" because this is why customers come back to your store. read more
