My dog passed his training class
Lexi D.

I love this PetSmart location. It is always clean and well-staffed. The staff love seem to love greeting my pups when we come in and always ask to pet them. We usually find some good deals here on everything. The manager is smart and efficient in his job. The pets for sale seem to be well taken care of and there are plenty of variety in-stock. We have used the Banfield here and didn't love them, but they are a separate business. The grooming dept is so kind and easy to communicate with. My dogs have never had a noticeably bad experience here. We did the training for one of my dogs. We learned some great things that we still implement, but we probably could have just researched and found videos to teach the same stuff.

Liz's intermediate class, day 1

We always have a good experience at this store, all of the employees are great. Our highlight has been the training classes with Liz. She is upbeat, humorous, informative, and patient. We have trained 3 of our dogs with her: beginner class, intermediate, and a private class for our more difficult dog. She's been a great source of knowledge and the dogs are very comfortable with her, too.

The best thing about this PetSmart on Watt Ave is I can get parking in front of the store whenever I am here. Make it so convenient if I want to purchase something quickly after work. The store is nice and clean, like most of the PetSmart stores. The merchandise in the store is well organized and easy to locate. The prices are reasonable with many choices. The animal cages and fish tanks are very clean in this store. I enjoy to check them out every time when I'm here. They look happy! The employees at this store are friendly, and the checkout counters are fast. I can get what I want in a few minutes. Nice!

I called PetSmart yesterday to set up an appointment for my puppy's first grooming. A bath and a trim. I asked as many questions and I could and was met with short answers. I set an appointment for 6PM, I made my way to the grooming section and stood there for about 10 minutes while a lady was clipping another dog's nails, she did not make any effort to let anyone know I was here and just told me to wait. So I did. Eventually another worker walked in and i got my puppy all checked in. They told me to come back in FOUR hours, I looked down at my puppy (3.5 pound toy poodle) and asked why it would take so long, she stated a bunch of lame excuses and then added the groomer just went on lunch. Why would you schedule me in when you know the groomer goes to lunch at 6? Unprofessional and weird experience.

They really do have everything a puppy needs. LOCATION: Across from the Arden and Watt shipping mall with plenty of on-site parking. DECOR: Typical superstore warehouse setup like Walmart or Costco but for pets. PRICE: I picked up doggie treats with a bit 3 bags, get the 4th free deal and it was totally worth it. Also, the process depends on the brand of products you're buying, but had some reasonably priced items they my pup loved just as much as the more expensive ones. TREATS: They have a massive selection of treats. My particular favorites are the training treats. They are smaller pieces designed to be given multiple times during a training session. FOOD: I haven't landed on a brand yet. My pup is a rescue and uses the brand e got from the rescue center. There were plenty to choose from so I'll have a look soon. STAFF: They know their pets and are super helpful, friendly and personable. Colorful selection of employees always makes me feel better as well. EXPERIENCE: I went in and was over consumed by all the choices and labels, but a staff member was able to point me around. Sometimes they were hard to find, but when I found them, they always knew the answer to my question. It's fun to see the other pets walking around the store with their owners. It's a happy vibe in the store even asking the customers. I mean, who can really be mad when their loving pet is by their side?

If I could put 0 stars I would.... I went here once for my dog's grooming appointment and loved the results. Second time we chose a different groomer. They couldn't finish my dog's haircut because he was being "aggressive" which has never been a problem for him. He came back with his eyes blood shot red. At home he was squinting and was just sad the rest of the day. I'm not sure what goes on in this store, but this has NEVER happened to me or anyone I know. I would never wish this upon anyone else. Please do not take your dogs here for a grooming appointment ever. They simply do not care for the dogs. I emailed PetSmart about the situation and I'm hoping they get back to me ASAP because this is ridiculous.

I started coming to Petsmart to have my dogs groomed after my original groomer moved out of Sacramento. I prefer supporting smaller businesses when it comes to grooming and other things, but some of the local groomers I've called were either booked or just would never answer the phone, return calls or just flat out flakier than a biscuit. I always like to keep my dog freshly groomed, so I made the hard decision to allow Petsmart to groom my dogs. So far so good, I've had nothing, but good experiences when I comes to my dogs being groomed. I was kind of bummed that the girl who was originally grooming my dogs left Petsmart and went to a grooming place I refuse to name. I did to a review on that particular grooming place and gave it one star. I have a different groomer grooming my dogs and she's just as good a the last gal that left so I'm still content with my dog cuts. The store manager is always nice when I come in and thanks me for patronizing his store. Before, I ever considered getting my dogs groomed here, I only came to buy my dogs clothing, greenies and toys. I have to give this Petsmart location a solid 4 stars. Which is very generous.

We couldn't take him in public. When we'd have to take him to the vet, he would pull so hard (90 lb pitbull/ American bull dog, so he pulls HARD) that he would choke himself and make my hand hurt from holding the leash, and he would SCREAM/ bark/ cry when we wouldn't let him go up to people and dogs. He wouldn't tire out. He would do that the entire time. It was stressful as all heck when we'd have people over to our house. He would jump all over people, knock over small kids, non stop licking people, etc for about 15-20 min before calming down. If we kept him crated when people were over, he'd scream the entire time (I'm talking HOURS). It was extremely stressful. We did the 2 week board and train program with Christina. I'll be honest, because his issues seemed more like personality issues rather than not knowing commands, etc. I was a little nervous that our biggest concerns wouldn't be fixed. Him sitting, laying down, walking on heel, etc would be nice and all, but really what we needed was for him to be able to CALM DOWN around people. Lucky for us, we got the best of both worlds! My husband and I are blown away by the change in our boy. It's truly day and night. We picked him just one week ago. Yesterday I took him to the local Farmer's Market. He walked at a heel the whole time, not pulling toward any of the other people or dogs. We also spent multiple minutes at a time in a "sit" or "down" position just watching. This used to be a scenario where he'd be going crazy trying to get to everyone, but he remained calm for the whole 45 ish minutes we were there. Shortly after that, we had 2 new-to-Wesley friends come over to our house. I placed him on his cot before they came in the door. He jumped up once, but after I placed him back on it, he remained there and didn't move until I allowed him too. I thought for sure after I let him off, he'd run over and jump on his new friends. But nope! He walked over and let them pet him, but remained calm with all four feet on the floor and didn't lick them like crazy. He spend most of the afternoon just laying near us but not demanding attention like usual. He even stayed by himself quietly inside, while we were in the backyard (another first, he always wants to be where the people are) A total transformation!! Not having him for 2 weeks was definitely tough but Christina sent us multiple pictures and videos every single day, letting us know how he was doing and just showing us his cute face. She was quick to answer every question. You can truly tell how much she loves dogs and what she does. When we picked him up, we spent about 2 hours where Christina taught up how to use the e collar and worked on some training with us and Wesley together. The only thing I'm disappointed in with this training is not doing it sooner. I am in awe of what my boy learned at almost 6 years old and I truly cannot recommend Christina enough. We drove 5+ hours round trip for her training and it was so so worth the drive and the cost. THANK YOU CHRISTINA!!!

All I can say is: wow! My dog has never been happier and more well-behaved. Ironically, his approach, really, is about training you, the owner, to cultivate the behavior you want to see in your dog. He trains owners to address the root cause of behaviors, which leads to broad, systemic changes through energy-management and LOTS of positive reinforcement. Before finding Jaimie, I was worried I'd have to give my dog up to a sanctuary if I ever lived with another person who owned a dog because my dog's behavior was out of control. I no longer have that fear after training with Jaimie. He is truly a master of his craft, and I have full confidence his training techniques can work on any dog after seeing my dog's behavior transform. I have a 10 year old Shih Tzu that I adopted from the pound at 5 years old. She was constantly getting into trouble: jumping on furniture, marking in the house, pulling trash from trash cans, aggressive with kids and other dogs. I believed the folk wisdom that "you can't teach an old dog new tricks," and Jaimie shattered that myth within the first training session. Jaimie's approach is really quite simple, if you think about it: if you manage your dog's energy, and you set boundaries for your dog, you can create a completely new routine that your dog will adopt through your consistent, clear communication and praising good behavior. Over time, through consistency, you fall into a new routine, one where your dog listens and understands the expectations you've set, and it feels natural. Since beginning training, my Shih Tzu has stopped marking inside the house and outside during walks, stopped begging for food and stealing food from the toddler in my house, pulling trash from the trash cans, stopped barking at every little noise in the house, listens to my commands while walking on a leash, and no longer jumps on furniture. Additionally, she is generally happier, and more affectionate with every human she meets. Next, I'm planning to work with Jaimie on addressing my dog's anxiety with other dogs. All of the work the work you put into training really pays off, and I have full confidence that his techniques and attention to detail will help me guide my dog finally begin to trust other dogs. Trust the process, be patient with yourself and with your dog, remain consistent, and cultivate the behavior you want to see.
