Review for Grooming Department: Great team of groomers. I brought in my foster Asha for a bath. She somehow got into some motor oil and got it all over herself (luckily she didn't ingest any of it.) After multiple washes I had given her I decided to bring her into the grooming salon to get professionally cleaned. Lauren, Bart and there was a third person (sorry I didn't get his name!) They were the most helpful and was able to squeeze in Asha into their busy weekend schedule. I was worried that they wouldn't be able to get a lot of the oil off but they cleaned her up really good. They also followed up with a phone call and provided me with updates on the progress they had made. Thank you guys so much for taking such good care of Asha. Their customer service is appalling in the grooming salon! They are rude and decided because my dog is old and gets nervous when he is groomed that they will not groom him anymore. Even their manager told me I can. They think they are vets and experts when it comes to dogs health. My vet has done numerous tests on my dog and has cleared him of any heart or lung issue and any health issue. I guess they feel if they don't like you the owner for some unknown reason, or your dog is old and grooming him is too much work, they refuse. I took my 5-year-old Pug to Petsmart to get a bath and have her nails trimmed. As soon as I brought her home she started to limp and would not put weight on her left front foot. It was so sore we could not touch it. I called Petsmart and gave them all of the details and they have not called me back. I had to take her to our family Vet to get it checked out. $380.00 later she has a sprain of one of her toes on her left front foot. They gave her a steroid shot and some pain relievers and she is doing better. This happened at Petsmart on Tuesday the 9th at 3:00 pm and they have not called after I filed a complaint. I am very disappointed. They do not do a good job of explaining services. They insisted I shave my dog. She had a little matting. They did not offer to comb and told me to cancel my appointment take her home and comb her out myself. I asked if they could leave her mane a little longer like an inch and then it would be easier to comb out. She refused to do that. My Pomeranian looks silly. I received no compensation they said they can't bathe a dog if it has matting. The groomer did not tell me that and then claimed the groomer was pretty experienced but they would retain her. I had to swing by to an impromptu visit to this location next to Costco and Staples off Doheney, in SJC. I didn't have an appointment and I need to give a Shout out to Ryan at the Grooming Salon for taking a moment to help assist me with my pups nail grind. My love bug likes to be held like the spoiled brat that he is, and his paws find his way onto my chest area. If the nails are long, especially those dewclaws, it scratches me and I looks like I got attacked by a crazy cat. I came in a few days ago to this location and Ryan was accommodating to see that my pup was able to get his nails cut and rounded using a dremel. Thank you for doing an excellent job on his paws and accommodating towards my needs. I appreciate this, as Ryan was about to leave and it had been crazy raining . This was my first time at this Petsmart location, and even though they don't have a Banfield Vet onsite, they still have a grooming salon and inventory sufficient enough to cater to my needs. In my experience, each location is different and level of service can be different. This is my new favorite location. Even if its a bit farther than I usually drive, but totally worth it. Took my 2 year old pup here for grooming service and oh boy it was not a pleasant experience. As a former groomer, these 'groomers' are poorly trained. Not only that, but they lack the communication skills to not listen to a customer giving them notes for a sensitive dog. As a result, the groomers and managers blamed my dog for being 'unfit' to be there and am not welcomed back. On top of all that, I had to take my pup to the vet next door which of course I was to blame once again.. Took in a fluffy golden doodle, got back a shaved squirrel that was skinned in some spots. Absolutely the worst groomers I've ever encountered. When I first got there they told me she did great and was an angel, and then they'd have her waiting while I paid. Went to pay and they brought her out extremely excited. While I was loading her up in the car I noticed she had a large bloody spot above her eye. I took her back in to ask the groomer what happened and she changed her story and said "oh yeah I forgot to tell you about that, she was acting wild and must have hit her head and scraped it on something, because she wasn't bleeding when I cut her..." my dogs 5 years old and usually loves the groomers. Doesn't fight or lose her mind and loves a good spa day. Plus to now all of a sudden remember when I'm confronting you about it? BS. I mostly shop here for my dog, but I sometimes walk around the fish and little critters area just to look at the animals. The store seems to be organized and clean, which is always a good sign. It seems to me that there is always something on sale here whenever I stop by, at least for dogs. I was able to get a 6 month supply of flea and tick treatment on clearance and I couldn't stop myself from coming home with a few dog toys and clothes on clearance as well. I don't know why the flea and tick treatment were on clearance, I looked it up and it was supposed to be a good brand. It works really well for my dog and we've had no problems with it. Unfortunately, Petsmart doesn't carry many of the healthier and higher rated food brands for dogs, which is still fine since I could get a giant bag from Amazon anyway. They do carry a bigger selection of food than the grocery store and has all kinds of remedies for most pet conditions. I even bought my fish an over-the-counter antibiotic treatment from here once. Customer service is excellent, at least for the cashiers and for the dog trainer. Some of the attendants at the fish area seem to be overwhelmed somehow. It's weird because it's not like it's a busy area of the store at all. And fish aren't at all overwhelming. They literally stay in a tank while you get yourself together. Anyway, I want to mention that Ryan F, the trainer at this Petsmart location is amazing. My new puppy came in here with me a few months ago. She is super wild because she is just way too enthusiastic and has crazy energy. But Ryan saw us, and probably sensed my frustration of not being able to control my dog. Within minutes, he was able to calm her down and behave. He taught me a few things within that small time frame and really made me want to sign up for training with him. I gotta admit, we haven't signed up yet. But Ryan really connected with my wild dog and proved to be a natural at it. He was professional, calm, and very knowledgable. I don't really like writing bad reviews, but this bad interaction left my daughter in tears. They host cat/kitten adoptions every so often and today we went in to look at the cats and buy some dog food. My daughter asked me if she could hold a cat, I guess the male adoption attendant overheard because he told us as long as we sanitize our hands it was fine. So in front of him we sanitized and grabbed a kitten. We were careful and I even had my daughter sit down to hold the kitten to make sure they were safe. Well a very rude older lady came over and asked us if we had just grabbed the kitten out of the kennel to which I replied "yes, I thought that was ok?" She looked at me like I was stupid and said in a condescending tone "well you had to have sanitized your hands, and are you even looking to adopt?" She didn't care to let me reply (and yes we are looking to adopt) before telling us it was "an adoption event not a petting event" And telling my daughter she can't touch the kitten. We just walked away at that point, but I felt very belittled and hurt. I don't know if she was rude because of the fact we're dressed for chores around the house, because we're you f or because I'm Mexican, but I can't believe the Ark of San Juan would want this lady being the face of the adoption event. read more

I have never left a review before, even if something was quite bad as I always try to give the benefit of the doubt. That being said, please (for the sake of your animal) do not bring your pet here for any grooming services. I do not believe these people are properly trained, nor do they have any care for the animals (at least the woman who had my dog did not.) I got my dog back from getting anal glands, ears and teeth done and was told he had bit her, "pooped all over" and was acting out. My dog has never bitten anyone and has not gone to the bathroom inside since he was a puppy (he is now 6) so when I hear this behavior, it is a red flag as my dog does not behave this way. This is a direct reflection of how the "groomer" handled my dog. Upon walking in the door to get him, he was choked so badly by her pulling him back as he was terrified, his eyes began to go blood shot as there was no circulation, shaking and soaking wet. I was charged almost $50 and nothing was done to my dog. I just left Julie's Pet Grooming in Rancho Santa Margarita to go for my second attempt at getting these services done and was told the anal glands were in fact, not done, and my dog behaved wonderfully. He came back calm, relaxed, dry and now comfortable. Also, don't run the vacuum in a confined place such are your grooming room and walk the dogs past as if it would be, by ANY MEANS, calming for them. It's common sense and the grooming staff at this Petsmart does not seem to have that. read more

First of all let me just see that the people who work in the fish department aren't the nicest of people. I walked in there and wasn't greeted for about a good 10 minutes at least the person who works at the cashier was nice enough to say hello. One of the people who worked there she was very rude and almost refused me to buy a fish because she was concerned about the safety. Of the fish when I've had aquariums since I was 16 years old so I have experience with what type of fish can be mixed with which one. So I went to the pet store over the weekend of December 5th and I noticed that one of the tanks that had silver dollars in it it had ick. All of the fish had white spots all over them so I told one of the people who worked there and told them that these fish is sick they should be quarantined and he gave me a snooty remark saying oh you know sometimes the fish come in sick and just blew it off and didn't do anything he was rude. So I ended up getting some fish even though I knew there was a tank that was sick and I know all your tanks are connected together so I took a chance and got the fish. I ended up buying about six or seven fish and a couple of days passed and I noticed that the fish that I got from PetSmart now have the same sickness they all have white spots all over them. So in my opinion I wouldn't shop at this location the people there are rude! The young kids there think they know everything including the older man who works there things he knew everything and wasn't very nice. I will not be shopping there again.
