Huge shoutout to Courtney at Pets Plus! I called this morning looking for a specific low-fat dog food for my pup, who can only eat special food due to dietary needs. I normally order from SquarePet, but my delivery wasn't arriving until Tuesday and I needed to get his food sooner. When I called, Courtney answered and confirmed they had the food in shipment, but it hadn't been checked in yet. She kindly took my number and told me she would call once it was available. Within just a couple of hours, Courtney called me back to let me know the food was ready and even stated she will save the cans for me. Luke at Pets Plus deserves a raise and promotion to store manager. He went above and beyond to help me pick out some healthy food and treats for my 18 year old cat. Not only was he knowledgeable, but seemed to really care. This kid is going places in life for sure. Thanks again bud. Regarding the store, it has a great selection of food, etc for your fur babies that you don't find at Petco or Petsmart. I bought this human grade food for my cat called "Smalls". It comes frozen. I just bought it yesterday (4/27) and my cat has already eaten more than he usually does and I might need to make it over there again soon. read more

Thank you to the extremely helpful lady working at the San Clemente location on the morning of 10/17/24, I apologize for not getting your name. I came in desperate for a solution for a cat litter for my daughter's nearly 20year old cat, his box seems more stinky lately. She explained he was probably dehydrated and older cats tend to not eat or drink as much and suggested goats milk and bone broth to add to his food to help with hydration. Also suggested a new box and litter to help with odor. Thank you !! read more

This Pets Plus location beats the San Juan location hands down. ever since Tom left the San Juan location things have been going downhill. I shop Ralphs San Clemente twice a week and stopped in Pets Plus for a tennis ball for my newly adopted rescue dog. I was mentioning that my rescue dog had skin issues the young man named Grayson helped me immensely! Grayson suggested many products for the skin ailments, comparing and contrasting each product in detail. He also helped me with the comfort is the tennis ball because I needed somethings soft. My rescue dog feels better with the probiotic skin spray. Need help? Just ask for Grayson and you will most likely leave the store more knowledgeable than when you walked in. read more

Really enjoyed my experience at Pets Plus. I was actually going to go to the grocery store adjacent, but saw that this was exactly what I was shipping for and popped in to explore. Immediately. I noticed how well maintained the stock and displays were. So many products covered according to animal! I felt a bit overwhelmed and right away, a salesperson asked me if they could help me find anything. My original pet food for my pup is not available in the city I now live in (just moved here). He shared the products that are similar in type (because he knew of the original brand) and helped me narrow down my options based on my pets needs. I felt very confident with the final section, he walked me and my large bag of dog food to the front counter and connected me with a cashier. Great service, loads of selection and excellent experience. Obviously, I'll be back! read more

San Clementeans don't need to drive all the way up to San Juan Capistrano for PetSmart anymore. You can save some gas by shopping at Pets Plus near the Ralphs in the Ocean View Plaza, next to Hallmark's. They have good inventory of all sorts of dry goods including cockatiels, parakeets, rabbits, and mice. The only things they don't carry are fish, reptiles, and aquatic plants. Prices aren't too different from the big stores. There's only one employee when we stopped by Sunday morning. So if you're a shoplifter, you can totally pull it off at this store. Just sayin'. The employees are all pet-owners, and have given me great recommendations over the past few months as I have made this store my primary pet store for my dog. They have a decent selection, but it is poorly managed. I went to buy dog food a couple days ago. When the cashier swiped my card, he said it never went through. So I swiped my card and entered my pin number for the second time. Later that day, I discovered that I was debited twice for my account. I called the next day and left a message with the cashier for the manager to call back. I received no answer. I called back the second day. I explained the same situation as the day before, and was told they lost my number and couldn't call me back .Then they said they could not refund my money because they needed to confirm with their credit system. I asked them to give me a call once the manager confirmed the overcharge, but again I still received no response. I On the final day I had enough. I went into the store and asked to talk to the manager. Apparently, (s)he was not there, so I talked to the assistant manager. He was nice, but basically said, "sorry we are really disorganized and messy". Although I was reimbursed finally, it was irritating that a manager didn't take 5 minutes out of his/her day to explain what had happened and apologize for the delay. read more

Great selection and variety of items for both cats and dogs. They even sell the large cat condos and a variety of smaller ones. As any pet store the dog options are greater than the cat options, but they do have great options for cats and super cute food and water dishes. Most of the time you can get free treat samples within the store as well! read more

I really like the Pets+ stores. All have friendly employees. My favorite store is the one in the Camino Los Mares Ralph's Plaza. Tom is amazing and extremely knowledgable and so is Helga. They know their animals and each employee shows their care for them. They will also price match other stores if you bring proof of price in, which is nice! We got a bunny from this store that has ringworms! And humans can get this infection by touching the bunny or if the bunny sneezes on you, you can become infected! They did not even check if the bunny had any problems before we got her' the bunny'. read more

I have been here a handful of times and they have given me great customer service every time.(even when i only buy crickets!) We just got a puppy and the lady was VERY helpful on finding us a great dog food. She showed me 3 types and was still friendly when I admitted I may be ordering online more than coming in the store! 4 stars. I was always going to the big pet stores until I found this store. Some items like toys and collars can be slightly more overpriced, but their return policy is awesome. 30 days receipt or not. They are always super friendly and everyone is willing and able to answer questions. Lots of snack options for pets and a wide range of pet needs are fulfilled here from fish to dogs. They have a lot of options too. I went recently after my dog was neutered to get a cone of shame, and they had 4 different kinds. I really like this store and will continue to be a patron! read more

Very friendly and helpful staff. Those I've spoken to are all pet owners so their heart is in it. They don't just steer you to the highest priced foods. I agree their prices aren't far off the big pet store chains. I prefer to support local business in San Clemente any day. Both locations are good. The Ralphs plaza store is much larger and so is their selection. read more
