I go there because it is near and i can get other things done (like shopping at target) while waiting for my dog.It is hard to get an appointment when i need so, i have to make a call in weeks advance, most of the time. I am happy with my dog's hair cut but every time he comes out of their with different hair length. Last time he was almost bald in his but area.It would be much better if the place was more clean and if they cleaned my dogs ear properly. read more

I don't bother with the grooming or vet services here so maybe that's why I haven't had a problem with this store? Petsmart has consistently been the cheapest store for all my pet supply needs. I spend at least 10 dollars less here than I would at Petco. I bought a cartful of staples for my cats and dog and the total was only 60 bucks which is whole hell of a lot less than I've had to spend at other places. I've never spent more than three or four minutes in line and the cashiers have always been very helpful. read more

I want to first off say I've waited quite a while before writing this, initially I was really upset and most likely this would have been a differently worded review. We've brought our dog to this grooming salon less than a handful of times, this last time .... will be her last. Our dog is a Maltese mix and we have only had her a short time. After making an appointment and dropping her off, I received a call from PerSmart to come pick up our dog. Whoever called also rudely announced that our dog had started her heat while there. As I said before, we had not had our dog long, in fact we found her and were unable to locate her owners so we gave her a good home. Anyway, I was waiting in the parking lot so I went inside to pick her up. The girl at the front just handed her to me and kinda gave me this weird look, as if I was an inconvenience that I had a later appointment (Note- I made and appointment! - was on time to both drop her off and pick her up- sorry, I have a job and can't make an earlier appointment!). I then left with my dog, who mind you did not smell like she'd just been groomed. I don't appreciate spending time and money to be be treated rudely for no reason. As well, I bathe my dog all the time, I can do that at home... but don't charge me for it if it was not done. I had previously taken her to the Union City Petco to be groomed, I suggest others do the same. I hate the fact that pets are actually sold here. I have never been more sad in my life to look at birds and hamster in dirty cages. I tried to find someone to let me hold either a bird or a hamster, and couldn't get the time of day. No one on the floor, in this huge store, and the only person I could find was at the cash register, and their was a line of people, so I didn't even bother. I looked at the fish and most had clean tanks and looked feed, but the Beta fish, fin rot and dirty cups. I am so glad that the cats are being taken care of by a rescue group and not by the teenager picking their noses at the front. I used to come here all the time, because they did have good service and kept their animal healthy and handled them, but not anymore; I can't look at the sadness. read more

Zero stars if I could. Rescued my dog from this pet store, received the papers from them as well. As a new dog owner I did not know they needed his rabies papers. Duly noted and understandable but waiting after someone said "we will be right with you" for 15 minutes only to be turned away by a girl who obviously hated her job, and it would seem dogs in general was frustrating. All she did was complain about how difficult her job was and act like she didn't want to help customers. As a young business professional I can't seem to empathize with how difficult it is to be a dog groomer. Do yourself a favor and take your dog to a true professional as we will be doing. read more

Extremely unsatisfactory experience today because of the manager Harley and a new girl. We had three coupons sent to our emails for free dog food. The cashier informed us we needed to make three transactions. Okay no problem. Then for no reason she calls her manager. Her manger tells us it's "one coupon for a household." We leave and come back when we realize all the coupons say "one per customer" He claimed one, I went beck to claim mine since it's "one per a customer" I was immediately bombarded by 2 cashiers (the other cashier stopped what she was doing just to stare at me). The manager came and told me it's one per a household, I showed her the coupon and she said "well it's usually like that so whatever" and gave me the second bag. While this was happening all the cashiers were dead stopped and staring despite having customers to help. One has the audacity to ask "are you married!?!" Do I need to be married to receive dog food? The coupon states "one per a customer per a transaction" the manager makes up her own rules and goes against the company. She had to publicly shame me and repeat her rules again and again (which are not on the coupon). I was questioned where I got the coupon, along with my martial status. We have shopped at the store and spend maybe 300 dollars a month at the location. It was a good run, but the discrimination and shame we felt is not worth returning to the store. read more

The lady's know her by name now and slip her treats all the time haha:) I get her groomed twice a year and she looks better and better every time she comes out..! The pet salon is just ridicules! I booked a appointment for my dog the first time, and when I got there they told me my appointment got cancel without any reason!? Someone just cancel my appointment without telling me to? But the manage put me in right the way. Then the next time! Again! They told me the groomer is not there so they want to reschedule, and then I called in to reschedule. And when I got there, they said I missed my appointment and they don't have anything for me. I was so angry because I still have the voice mail that they left me say they want me to reschedule, and now they tell me I missed my appointment again!? WTH? Their system have a problem! I don't know if i was dued to the holiday season, but they charged me $70 dollars for the cut, bathing, and grid nails. Ended up when i picked my dog up. My dog's nails were still long and sharp!!!! And after i looked at him more carefully when we got home! They did not even give him a BATH!!!!!! I will never EVER go to this petsmart again! The staffs were nice, yet they were not doing their job at all. On top of that, if you planing to waiting around for your grooming services. They will tell you it takes about 3-4 hours. I give 2 stars because I came in here to get Science Diet dog food (my dogs have skin allergy issues) and I walked through URINE two seperate times just going to the food isles. I know that they allow dogs in the store, but this was old- starting to dry urine that had feet prints of other people in it. I cannot believe they don't have someone walking the floor to check for accidents or hazards. I mean, grocery stores always have someone mopping the floors. This is my go to place to buy cat food and litter. In fact I adopted my cat from a Mattie's adoption event. I got my cat for free which included his neutering and first round of shots. We got all of his stuff from here as well. (I am guessing that is why they give you a free cat. So you spend money there). We have gone to other pet stores but have found that this location is the best priced for what we get. I also like how they have a huge variety of treats and toys. Everyone who works there also has pets and they give great tips for what my cat may like and insight on his behavior. They also have a pet grooming and a Vet on side. They even do dog training. It really is a one stop shop for your pets. read more

The people from the grooming department are awesome. Not only they've done a great job on all three of my babies, they even let my dogs stay there for little over the require time. They love my dogs and really took the time brush them nicely. My Bichon/ maltese mix is hard to brush. He came out as a sparkling fluffy cotton ball. I had him bath & cut at the price of $60 elsewhere. They didn't do half of the good job this Petsmart did. Take your dog here. You will pay half the price and get twice the good result. read more

We have been going to Petsmart for a while. In many US states actually and have received consistently good service from knowledgeable staff. Today I was very impressed with the store. They let us exchange our crate for a bigger one because our puppy had outgrown it. They didn't have to do this. We have had the crate for 4 months. But they did and this saved us 40 clams. They also let me know that the only reason they may not have a brand of dog food is because certain brands have a "deal" with certain stores. This means we need to shop at two different pet stores. We would shop exclusively here if that was not the case. read more

The staff was not helpful nor knowledable about their own policies. I went in to return a product, one person said the packaging is needed, I told them that Fremont did my return no problem, they said "we are strict here" Manager came by and asked when I bought it, she was willing to return it but I needed the physical card, which I lost during a trip, she said she needed the card. So had to walk away but after reading the fine print on my online order receipt, I should of been offered a store credit card. I write this because customer service folks are supposed to help not make it more inconvenient, I would of happily taken the store credit my dog needs food next month. I was pretty disappointed about my dogs grooming appointment today. His appointment was at nine, and I was there by 850 A.m. I was told four hours, or thereabouts. When I didn't hear from them by 1 o'clock I went in to check on my dog. When I got there I was told that the groomer was going to go to lunch and he would work on him when he got back so would be at least another hour. Of course I was rather bothered by that. So I sat on the bench to watch. The groomer went and got a different dog and started working on him.. They were working on dogs that came in after my dog. As my dog was the second dog in for the morning. Anyway. He saw that I was watching and put the other dog in the back and grabbed my dog and brought him out. He raced through the trimming with the clippers did some trimming around his feet took them in the back and blew him off and then told me he was ready. When I took them out to the car I felt by his ears and he still had the matted hair by his ears, which I had pinpointed out when I dropped him off. So I brought them back in and he took some scissors and tried to trim it and then took the clippers and trimmed a little bit and got them out. Then when I got back to the car again I noticed that he didn't really trim the hair links on his ears. My dogs a cocker spaniel so we has long hair and long years. As I looked at my dog closer I saw that he did a really choppy job on his hair also. Now I'm debating buying my own clippers and doing it myself. Because I can do it that good. I'm not even sure if you clean the ears or the anal glands like you supposed to to. I was really disappointed. I have to say the manager did take $10 off because of the problem of not having him done. Which I appreciated. But the gentleman that cut my dog hair, did a sloppy job. read more

This is being posted on response to a posting by Blayne Douglas. The first thing that I would like to say is that I feel sorry for a service animal who is owned by someone who uses having them as justification for bad manners and poor judgment. I have worked with Mrs. Bradbury for several years and have seen her inter act with a few people who for one reason or another wanted to do things their own way. Disregarding the posted signs stating that dogs are not allowed in the cat enclosure or the cat adoption areas at PetSmart. This policy is to help insure the safety of both the cats, dogs and visitors to the adaption area. Your dog may be fine with you cats at home but the cats in the adoption area don't know your dog and are stressed from being in a strange environment to start with. You also have to remember that they are at a disadvantage they are caged and can not remove themselves from this situation where they may feel threatened. This stress can cause them to behave badly when being viewed for adoption at a later time possibly causing them to not be adopted, or worse they may strike out at someone else because of still being scared from the encounter with your dog. I can not recall hearing Mrs. Bradbury even raise her voice (at least what I would call raising her voice) and I have certainly never hear her curse at someone. I will agree with a comment in Mrs. Bradbury response that there may have been someone else in the area that may have referred to Mr. Douglas in the terms that he stated. I know of a person who frequents the cat enclosure and adoption area at PerSmart that would have no problem at all making the statements accredited to Mrs. Bradbury under the conditions stated by Mr. Douglas. read more

Now I understand why this place have only a 2.5 star rating. You basically get what you pay for. I live in the area and decided to take my dog to grooming instead of doing it myself. Been taking my dog there a for a few months now and I must say, it's only been "ok". The groomers there aren't usually very friendly. They are only once again "ok". I made an appointment for today at 4:00 pm and got a call at 3:10 asking me to come now. I understand people get sick and don't come to work but that shouldn't be my problem. This isn't the first time they asked me to come early. I told them I couldn't come in any earlier than 4:00 because I was out of the area. We went back and forth about what to do. My dog is still a puppy and she doesn't like baths too much. She's had accidents while waiting for me to pick her up before and now that's on her record. The groomer stated that she has a "pooping" problem and she was scheduled for the express bath and that groomer isn't there today. Again, who's problem is that?! I don't think my pup is the only pup that has that issue. I just felt like she emphasized on that issue. She didn't have a resolution for me and was just blank over the phone. So I finally said "just cancel it" and she said ok and hung up. How rude?! I was so upset that I called back later and asked to speak with the manager. No manager until 8/11! So I asked is there a "Debbie" or "Debra" there and she said "yes" then I realized it sounded like her and so happen to ask "are you Debbie or Debra?" Cause obviously she didn't tell me she was her. That's when I decided to let her know how I felt. It wasn't so much where I had to reschedule my pup, it's the way she talked to me. She even said to me that another groomer was suppose to call me and she should have just let them call instead of her. There wouldn't have been an issue if she wasn't so rude. If she don't have any customer service skills, then don't work in an environment that deals with customers. Simple as that. read more

The pet GROOMING here is HORRIBLY :( I use to bring my Lil Teddy here & by the way he acted every time I brought him here I should have know they were hurting him , he would shake & cry so much & would scratch the crap out of my arms because he didn't want me to let him go=[ I picked him up a couple of times with cuts on he's nose & he's legs & belly . They try telling me he moved way to much . He was scared pretty much of every person that worked here . Months later a friend of mine started working here & quit after a couple months because she said the staff was pretty rough with the animals . I knew my lil Teddy was trying to tell me something as crazy as that sounds . Now I take him to pet image & he loves it their all the girls are so nice & I never have a problem with him being scared to stay with them . Was told cuts take about 3-4 hours, depending on how well-behaved he would be. I went there yesterday to have my aquarium water tested; I am cycling my tank and hoped to buy my first fish for the tank before I purchased any fish. Well, it took about five minutes to get someone to assist me; the woman who approached me (who was very nice and tried very hard to assist me) was honest in saying that she never tested aquarium water before but put the test strip in the water as instructed. She got the results but wanted another staff person to verify the result. I observed as she spoke to several co-workers; both of whom seemed annoyed by her inquiry - (I guess they were busy) but one of them did look at the strip and told her to tell me that the water was very acidity. When she told me what her co-worker said, I asked her what I needed to do to address the issue. She didn't know and went back to the co-worker; I saw the co-worker direct her to the fish testing supplies section - the woman looked frazzled as she picked up and looked at every product trying to figure out what to recommend to me; she wasn't able to find anything. I am sure she did her best. To relieve her stress I approached her and told her not to worry; that I am go to a different store that had staff with more expertise and patience to help me. Purchasing fish is an expense and a hobby. Months before I purchased fish that died - so I wanted to try again and make sure that I did everything right. My experience at Petsmart that day was discouraging because I felt that the staff on board didn't do due diligence in making sure that they had skilled, knowledgeable and caring staff to assist me and the other patrons who observed my experience. again, I appreciate the help that the young women staff offered, but until a person is trained, they shouldn't be asked to do something that they can't. The store manager, or in charge staff, should have assisted her. I would have gladly waited until that could have happened (I waited anyways). Very discouraging experience. read more

For the grooming department: 4 hours for a bath of a small 4 lbs yorkie is just ridiculous. After being there for 4 hours our puppy kept crying and would get scared whenever we would get near him... something that never happened in his previous grooming appointments at other places. My puppy is my baby and I refuse to put him through whatever it was that they did to him. They also cut his hair and nails after being told multiple times not to cut anything (hair or nails). read more

Went to get cat food. Cat likes Fancy Feast broths. They were 10 for 11. They rang up at 1.36 and no discount. I told cashier they were on special. She copped an attitude and went back to check. I was correct. She was mad. She called the manager and manager went to check again. I told her checker already checked. Manager said give her 2.00 price correction. I said don't you honor your prices. it should be 2.60 correction. The cashier Dina was very rude and tossed me the receipt. The checker on register 1 was very polite. I've been going here to get my dog groomed for the past year. I can say they are great. They have good availability and they know how to make my dog look good. The stylist For my dog is Angel and she knows how to even out my dogs fur. They also provide friendly customer service and give feedback on your pets behavior. It can be a bit pricey at times but I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

If i can give them a zero I would. I always call and schedule an appointment for grooming and like always they tell me not till next week. So i know better now and call a week in advance. I'm usually ok with the job BUT this time they called me and told me while giving my dog a haircut they accidently cut her and will require skin glue. So I'm thinking ok a little cut maybe she moved. But then she says she might need 1 stitch. So now after trying to sugar coat the wound with skin glue they try to sneak in the actual damage. Like its not that big a deal..maybe a stitch. So now I go there and see what's up and she got moved to vet area to get fixed up. And all they say is we going to comp ur bill today for the grooming... WOW 40$ ..oh and we will take care of the vet service, antibiotics & follow up. Well duh I'm not gunna pay for anything. Now 2 weeks with a cone on her head and traumatized probably now to go the groomers. Defiantly not going back there for grooming and or recommend anyone to go there. Young staff probably fresh out the training course and no experience that's y it's cheaper than most groomers, they are learning and experimenting on our animals. DO NOT GO TO THIS GROOMER. I can't vouch for the other locations but this one I definitely can say not a good location to go to. After giving Petsmart such raves reviews- after yesterdays experience I will never bring my dog there again! First, when I called to schedule the appointment the person told me his "rabies vaccine" had expired JANUARY. I told them this was impossible as my dog wasn't even born in JANUARY and just turned a year March 12. The rabies vaccine is good for one year. The person who took the information mistakenly put JANUARY instead of JULY. Okay, so I was told to bring in the copy of his "current rabies vaccine" I explained I had just moved and had no idea where it was. So then I was directed to call my Vet and ask them to fax them a copy. (A LOT OF TROUBLE for THEIR MISTAKE- but OK). I did so and scheduled the appointment for 6 PM. At around 4:30 PM I called to confirm that the verification had been received. I was told that it had not yet been received and to call my vet- AGAIN. This time I explained I was on the highway driving and could not do so at that time and could someone there PLEASE call and verify for me since this was THEIR mistake! The person became very argumentative with me saying it wasn't their mistake. How could it have been MY mistake when I brought in the documentation and THEY put in the WRONG MONTH not me?! So I spoke to the manager, Don, after holding at least 5 minutes. Don went ahead and called my Vet and confirmed indeed my dog's vaccination was good until JULY. I was good to bring my dog. There was only one groomer there and she seemed nice enough. Later, that evening I picked him up. I didn't notice at the time except his body hair was really short after we agreed to only do a bath, trim nails, feet, trim face and demat his tail. The groomer had said he wouldn't hold still for his face to be trimmed. When I got home and got a good look at him, I could see his face looked terrible!! His face was scalped and very uneven...his head looked just as bad. I wish I had never brought him in. Top that off I paid $48. For $10 more I probably could have had a much better job done elsewhere. Still, I can't help but to wonder if the lack of patience to groom my dog correctly was in retailiation to my PHONE CALL and MAKING them DO THEIR JOB??? Never again. I won't even buy a dog biscuit in that store. Horrible. Thank GOD hair grows back !! read more
