Compared to the Buena Park location that I frequent, this PetSmart is a pretty big store. There's plenty of parking, but I would not park in front of the store, as drivers tend not to stop for you if you're trying to back out of your spot. Like many PetSmart, they have a grooming and hospital section. They have the aquatic section, dog, cat, and small pets section. There never seems to be more than 1 cashier open, and they only open a 2nd cashier if the line reaches the dog treats section. The store staff is friendly, but I wouldn't say they're the most knowledgeable. I order my stuff online, and have it ready for pick up. I may browse the aisles to see if I missed any good deals, but its best to get it online for store pickup, because the prices are usually cheaper online than in store. read more

Grooming service quality has gone way down. My dog has thick, wavy hair and the groomer brought out a comb to check for mats. She's not matted but she does need a good brushing because she has a lot of hair - the groomer suggested she gets shaved and refused to give her a bath a brush out. Even if she did have some mats, what not charge a little extra for de-matting? It became obvious to me, the groomer didn't want to work today. PetSmart lost a customer today. read more

I will just make it short. Employees there are trained to overcharge people for instance your dog is too nervous and needs a express bath$15 More, your dog is too matted $45 more, your dog pooped in the kennel $10 more and list goes on. Took my dog for a full grooming and I was gonna end up paying $175 for the reasons above so I said forget it too much. Took my dog to another local groomer and paid 65 for everything so I saved myself $110. My advice, go to a local business, tired of Petsmart crazy up charges. Just left the store about 30 mins ago as of writing this, and all I can say is that the store looks good physically. One of your associates, however, was extremelty irritable. I was next in line at the first checkout line and she was talking while looking at nowhere in particular. I thought she was talking to me, so I responded. Then she mentioned something again, and i didnt hear it quite clearly so i responded confused, Asking if she'd prefer me to take out my 9 cans of dog food out of the basket out of consideration for her. She then proceeded to look up abruptly at my dad and I and rudely/aggressively point at us with both hands "i'm not talking to you, i'm talking to him [referring to the customer in front of her]." I was extremely taken aback, and my dad felt extremely disrespected especially since at absolutely no point in time did I talk with a negative tone whatsoever. She just seemed to snap at us. Thankfully another associate came and checked us out at the second lane. I asked if everything was alright because i've worked in customer service for more than three years now, and NEVER - not even once - have I ever seen such brashness and rudeness no matter how big the rushes got at my store (also there were only three guests in line so I don't think there's even a reason for the associate to be stressed out). Like mentioned prior, I also work in customer service and I work at an extremely stressful environment so I know when to cut someone some slack. Even with that being said, I would still highly recommend disciplinary action against her. For anyone who has read this far, if you see a woman in her 50s/60s with blond hair, glasses, stocky build at about 5'8", in one of the lanes, just switch over to another lane. I wouldn't recommend not going since the services are great and one bad apple doesn't ruin a basket full of fruit - just switch over to another lane. I am open for further clarifications if a customer service representative can read this at any point in time. read more

8 am grooming appt. and my puppy is shy. They "couldn't" get her in kennel so wouldn't groom her. Tried a whole 2 minutes with 3 people supposedly. Needed a flea treatment, they said you can give her a bath a home. What a joke of groomers. read more

It's so hard to find a good, safe groomer but every time I have taken my baby, hypo doodle, to them she had come home beautiful and happy. I've taken her to a local pet center and she cam back hurt, scared and traumatized. The pet smart groomers are always kind. They also have consistent pricing which is nice when many other business can make up prices on the spot or as they please. Pet Smart groomer also listen to what I ask for in style, she always looks cute when I pick her up. I don't know how they get bows in her hairs, she'll never let me do it. read more

We usually stop here to pick up worms for our Gecko when we don't have time to make it to our favorite reptile shop after work, but I don't think we will ever be here again. I was disgusted. They had SEVEN young adult Leopard Geckos in ONE tank (see pic for reference) and it was filthy! I swear one gecko had a worm burrowing into its butt area. There were plenty of empty thanks that they could've moved a few of the Geckos to so they wouldn't have been so crammed in. It was about 15 minutes till closing time and The rest of the reptile tanks had poop in them too so there was a huge possibility that the reptiles had been in this living condition for a while and would still be in this condition for at least another day. To top it off, their hornworms were either all DEAD or in a cocoon (pictures for reference too)! AND they were out of crickets. How long has it been since you did inventory or checked on what you're selling people to feed to their pets!? This is awful. I've always heard how awful pet stores are and the employees here are usually very nice, but the fact that they all work around that and let it go on and happen makes them just as bad as the living conditions those animals are in!! read more

I've lost count how many chances I've given this place. I've been turned away from the grooming department for just about every excuse in the book now. The grooming hours on Saturday are until 9pm & you cannot book an appointment online for just a nail trim, thus, the only option is to walk-in. Except that at this location, they seem to have their own hours. We walked in 6:45 pm to a closed grooming dept. After about 15 minutes of clueless employees asking each other IF grooming was open (hello, how do you not know?!) we were told bluntly "oh, they closed at like 5", and by another person "they were short staffed so they closed". No "we apologize for your inconvenience", no "let me see if any of the people standing around know how to do a nail trim"....nothing but the usual "we don't give a damn about your business" attitude this location provides. read more

It's clean, brightly lit, my dog loves walking around sniffing everything and the staff are super helpful. The grooming department is a joke. I have a very well mannered dog and they refused to do grooming. They said she wouldn't come out of the cage so they pulled her by the neck to get her out. Don't trust these fake groomers with your pets. They will throw your pet in a cage and strangle them to get them out. I'm very displeased and will be taking my dog to a more humane and legit place of business. I'm glad it didn't work out after reading other reviews of this place. The grooming department is super unprofessional. The young lady grooming the dog was yelling at the dogs seemed like she was not having a great day and was taking it out on the dogs she kept tugging at the dog as if we can't see her. She was calling the clients idiots and getting annoyed at the fact that the owners didn't tire the dog out before taking them to be groomed. If a groomer can't handle a pet appropriately they shouldn't be in that field she could of taken her time to get the dog to relax but she was being aggressive towards the dog making things worse. I have been going to this Petsmart location since my dog has been a puppy. They always been helpful when I bring my dog in to get her nails cut. They would even cut her face around her eye so she can see during that visit. I would pay a little extra but I didn't mind. I've always been told that my dog has been wiggling and a sweet dog. But during this last visit I was told that I would have to pay extra because my dog was so Wiggley and that was because they would have to take extra time. My dog is four years old and never have I ever had to pay a extra charge for her being Wiggley. I was told that the manager states because she worked on my dog last that it was necessary. Isn't that why you go to school to learn how to groom a dog isn't that one of the classes that how to handle wiggly dogs without hurting them why should I pay extra because you can't handle wiggly dog? And it was the manager that couldn't handle my dog.I called around to other Petsmart and ask them if they had an extra charge for Wiggley dogs and they said no they never heard of that. So when I went to go pick up my dog she said I only charged you eight dollars because she wasn't as bad rather than the $15 charge. What made matters worse is that on the receipt the charge says it's listed under Grooming nail cut teeth brushing which my dog didn't do so they don't have an actual charger number for wiggly dogs so when you look at the receipt it looks like I paid for some extra services which that was not the case. So if you go to this Petsmart grooming department with your dog and your dog is Wiggley you will be paying for the groomers inability to handle your dog. read more

I bought my pet rat Casanova from this Petsmart and couldn't be happier. He's friendly, sociable, and very loving. It's almost like having a small dog. I was a bit worried about purchasing a pet from a chain store, but so far (knock on wood) everything has been perfect. The staff was very friendly in showing me the different critters for sale. Took my 2.5 year old mini-aussie in for a basic bath and nail clipping. Without prior knowledge, or my authority, they expressed my dogs anal glands. My dog has never had her anal glands expressed. My poor dog was sad and crying the rest of the day. Making matters worse the basic bath I paid for was terrible! She came home smelling like a wet dog. She was still wet around her neck and ears. Do not go to the groomers at this location!! They are worthless. Took our dog there over summer when he was matted after being at the river and in and out of the water and they did a great job but booked him an appointment with Lizbeth and she was 15 minutes late (15 minutes late!!) to the appointment and then said she couldn't groom him and he's not very matted at all!! SO lazy. I CANNOT believe the terrible customer service. DO NOT BOOK WITH LIZBETH!! I am so disappointed and will never bring our dogs here again. read more

This review is for the training department and the the general staff:) 1.We completed the beginner and intermediate courses at this PetSmart with trainer Alex and we were very happy with the program. It is pretty evident that Alex is passionate about what he does and really makes each dog parent feel heard and addressed. Our dog is a 8 month old Great Dane and can be a handful, but Alex was able to work with her and us to make the best of our time. Is our dog perfect now that we completed two courses? Of course not. Toddlers don't change their behavior over the course of a few weeks either! It was great for training, socialization, and learning to be in changing environments. Thanks Alex! We would definitely recommend him to other dog parents. 2. The employees at this location are very helpful and friendly. We are always greeted with friendly hellos and goodbyes. It is nice to shop somewhere where the employees are as nice as these :) read more

DEAD FISH: Bought my son a little shark aquarium set up and some fish. Turned out one was pregnant, and the fry overloaded the tank causing an ammonia spike, killing the fish. I had my doubts, but I figured I'd call anyways to see if I could at least get store credit for the fish purchased. Maria the manager was amazing and assured me she would let her team know I would stop in tomorrow. Unfortunately I found the receipt had gotten wet somehow in the bag, so no store credited plants or pleco for us. But I hope Maria is recognized for the excellent customer service she provided. I have pet stores closer to me, but she won my business. As someone who worked in a pet store years ago, and still works in the customer service industry, I know some requests can seem petty. She seemed genuinely apologetic, I am EXTREMELY impressed. read more

I've shopped at this Petsmart regularly. Sometimes sales prices don't come up correctly per the signs but once the checkers verify the signage they typically correct it. Today I went and something with a sign for $.99 came up at $2.19 and I had five of them. Even after the checker verified the sign saying $.99 and checked with the manager they would not honor the price on the sign. They said it was old signage from a prior sale but had not changed it. And they still left it there. This is not decent customer service and the service here has been going down hill since before Covid. They hire young high school kids and put them in a tough situation to tell customers no and not even come over themselves to handle it. Looks like I'm finding a new pet store. Furley's in Lake Forest is great and also a new one in Orange I just found that is a small biz owner. Bye bye big chains. read more

Researched a couple options for some minor grooming for my Lab. Decided to give this PetSmart location a try for the Pawdicure service which is just trail trimming. The website states you don't need an appointment. Arrival: Website states that the store opens at 9am. As I'm turning left into the business complex parking lot, I can see from the street that that the outer sliding doors are open.....okay, that's kinda weird but maybe they're go getters. Store Experience: I walked in at 8:45am hoping that someone, anyone....would be able to answer a couple of questions about the overall grooming process at their location. The grooming area is right inside the store entrance. Their were 2 individuals inside the grooming room....the girl made direct eye contact with me and just continued to talk/laugh with other person she was with. I tried to look for any signage that explained the different levels of service. Nothing. There was even a random employee who walked through the middle of store. I was completely ignored. I turned to look back at the girl in the grooming room....and she actually turned her back towards me and just continued to talk to her co-worker! No acknowledgement whatsoever......not even a...I'm sorry, we're not open for another 15mins. I chalked it up to seeing the REAL business and left. Overall: Why the hell would you have a business clearly open and allow for ANYONE....ANYONE...to come into it and then completely ignore them. Even if it's before hours. And don't give me that Banfield Vet is in the store so the main doors have to open...they have a separate entrance. I will not be giving this location a second chance. Why would I want to entrust my pet to employees like that who don't seem to care at all about customers or animals. read more

First i thought it was just me so i went back but then Liz labeled my dog a "beggar" just because she likes to jump on her hind legs. No tip was given and we will not be returning. If you need a quality groomer with professional service, please do not expect this when coming to Petsmart on 17th. I tried to do a simple walk-in for a nail grind and bath on my boxer and was rudely dismissed. According to the groomer who was eating her food and sucking down a slurpie at one of the grooming stations, Petsmart is by appointment only. Wow! Didn't know u guys were so exclusive. Not to mention, THEIR WASN'T A SINGLE DOG THERE. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise as I found Terry's Paws & Claws only a few miles away. This petsmart is good. The people are helpful, the shelves are stocked, and the cat rescue is great [I've begun volunteering for them]. They carry a brand of pet food called "Authority" which is primarily made up of meat. Healthy for your pets, and it's well priced. Awww, to the lady below me, It's a shame that your puppy's nails didn't get clipped right, but I assure you that my "neck of the woods" is perfectly fine :) Sorry your groomer sucked though!
