The staff at this location is AMAZING, to say the least. Kenny in particular was GREAT. This petsmart is actually further than a Petco for me and truth be told, I went to Petco first since it was closer. When I went to Petco, I received horrible customer service (review will be written) and decided not to stay and went to petsmart instead and that was my best decision! Kenny was so knowledgable and didn't dismiss me for my millions of questions. He was patient with me and my 5 year old son, even though he was super busy. Worst customer service ever (Grooming salon). I have had to wait hours for my dog to be ready for pick-up from the groomer... long past the estimated pick-up time. Other times I've called to find out my dog was ready but no one ever called me to let me know. The ONE time I was ~12min late to my appointment they turned me back saying they wouldn't be able to fit me in. I asked for the manager... she wasn't around. The worst part was how rude the groomer who turned me away was.... It was obvious he could care less about the dogs, the business, customers, etc... he just wanted to get home by 5pm sharp. Taking my money, my two dogs and my loyal shopping elsewhere. If they treat customers like that, I can't imagine how they treat our beloved pets. read more

I have two purebred collies who are absolutely beautiful and they shaved them bald without asking us whatsoever about our desired result. I had a 20 minute consultation with the manager CeeCee. She appeared to be very competent but apparently her talents supersede her under seed her level of experience. Our dogs are completely bald it took nine hours to get shaven dogs and we are completely disgusted with the customer service that we received. I have come to this Petsmart for over nine years and have never had such a horrific experience and this all leads from management, Or lack there of. I called to see if they had Lafeber finch food. I particularly asked about the 5-pound size, as I know the product comes in 1-pound and 5-pound containers. Sarah put me on hold, then told me they had one left, and would hold it for me. When I showed up, the container was 1-pound. I went to return it to the shelf and check to see if they had the larger size. Not only did they not have the 5-pound size, but I could see where Sarah and removed the 1-pound container, and there was ANOTHER 1-pound container right behind that space. I could buy that maybe she didn't hear "5-pound," although I was VERY clear about it. But that Sarah said it was "the last one" when it was clearly not strikes me as nothing but swarmy. Is it this location only, or company-wide, that they tell you they are holding the last one for pick-up when they have several in stock, so that you will rush to the store and they ensure a sale? What really irked me was this was two days after a blizzard, so stopping at PetSmart added literally 60 minutes to my commute. If I had just waited a few more days (since there was more than one), roads would have normalized. read more

I recently had appointment for grooming but my pet had only a basic trim which was mouth bottom and paws although requested a premium cut. The grooming services were miscommunicated so another visit was rescheduled to correct it. The staff is sort of ride but it was one groomer who understood my concern and made it right by scheduling a 7am appointment and taking it upon her self to groom my pet and make it right. Her name is Jang, not only did she go beyond my expectations but she followed up to make sure I was pleased. Had it not been for her this would have been my last trip to this particular PetSmart location. read more

Horrible experience. They really need to teach their staff members to better accommodate customers. Took my dog to get her usual grooming.. and they told us they don't have her rabies shot.. first of all, we took her back in October and we gave the paper to let them know the date. But they "lost it, or someone put them in incorrectly." And I feel like when the person who scheduled the appointment should of asked about the rabies shot in the first place, that way we didn't have to drive all the way there and come back. Today I decided to stop in to pick up some treats for my Pet and witnessed a groomer in the grooming facility working on a white bishon frise or Maltese that was yelping and crying (he appeared to be working around the face with scissors). The man grooming the Pet immediately got upset and rushed the dog into the back of the grooming area. I told a staff member in the front of the store & grooming team member. I am not sure if the issue was resolved but that is unacceptable behavior. I would not take my pet here for day boarding or grooming!! read more

Doggy Day Camp is the worst!!! I don't know where to start with this place. I've taken my dog to other daycares and wanted to try this place since its cheaper. You get what you pay for!!!! Only one worker greets my dog with compassion....the others act as if her hyperness is bothering them. I have seen them spray dogs to keep them from barking at people or other dogs through the window. I have seen them shoo dogs, including my own, away when the dogs try to show them affection. The workers always look and act so mean towards the dogs and don't even try to play with them or pet them. If they will do this while doggie parents are there, imagine what's done when no one can see them. Hire workers that care, not youngsters who couldn't cut it at McDonald's!!! Also it takes forever for drop off and pickup!!! Don't even bother if you're running late! By now you should know my face and which dog belongs to me. It has taken over 15mins sometimes for me to do both drop off and pickup. Also they do not save any food that was not eaten, which is a waist of money and food!!! Therefore I make sure my dog eats in the morning and feed her first thing upon pickup. Someone please refer me to another daycare because this one is worse than the previous one I've used. read more

I went to this PetSmart in December. I was with my roommate, her granddaughter & their dog. We went there to buy dog food & a halter for the dog. My roommate had been drinking to excess & she went to take her 7 year old granddaughter to "look" at the Guinea pigs. In the time it took me to pick out a halter for their dog, one of the associates/salesman had sold a Guinea pig to them. I expressed my concern that I have heard these animals NEED COMPANIONSHIP! The SALESman insisted that was not true & as long as the 7 YEAR OLD CHILD assured him she would "spend time" with this living creature it "would be fine". I expressed more concern in the check out line - where my very drunken roommate was buying over $200 worth of accessories for the Guinea pig. The cashier ALSO ignored my very vocal concerns. The purchaser of this living, sentient being went into the parking lot with her purchases & literally FELL DOWN ON THE GROUND because she was so drunk! I did bring everyone home - my choice being that everyone, including the 7 year old & Guinea pig "get an uber". 6 months later, this poor animal has NO company, if the child interacts with it twice a week, it is cause for celebration. It's NEVER been to the vet! The ONLY reason it gets anything besides hay or pellets is because I researched & continually PLEAD this happen. SHAME ON YOU PETSMART!! Shame on you for selling single animals that need social interaction! Shame on you for selling ANY living being to an inebriated person!! I should've registered my complaints well before this! SHAME ON ME for thinking it might work out & this poor being would get the attention it needs! The person who you let BUY this living creature was FALLING DOWN DRUNK! But she spent enough money that NOBODY at your store stepped in & prevented a SHAMEFUL sale! All you cared about was the money. I watch this animal sit ALONE in its cage! For months now. The staff at this location are very helpful...I haven't had a problem yet with them and I've been going to this location for over a year now.. Every time I bring my puppy here they are always so eager to help and or give attention to her. I love how they always have an over flow of FREE dog treats at the register or the hotels. Black cats all the way!!! We would adopt another but he is a senior, so wouldn't want to bother his environment. He was adopted too. :) Back to the review, so the staff is always friendly. We go in, get what we need (cat grass, cat toys, take a look at other animals, see all the cute dogs people have with them, etc..). I would give this less than one star if I could. I have used this PetSmart in the past but no longer. I stopped by two days ago to pick up some cat food when I noticed that the woman stocking the shelves was not wearing a mask. Since she was standing immediately in front of the bag of cat food that I needed, I asked if she could please step back and turn her head away from me because she was not wearing a mask. She immediately had an attitude and barely moved. When I called the store a few minutes later and asked to talk with the store manager, I was told that it was not the law and she did not need to wear a mask if she didn't want to. This was after i waited on hold for at least five minutes and listened to a recorded voice message about how PetSmart valued the health of their employees and customers during this pandemic. Obviously this store did not get the corporate message and are not the least bit concerned about the health of their customers who may fall into the high-risk group. I would think that common sense would prevail but it appears not to. And the store manager was correct, it is not the law to wear a mask, but it is also not the law that I need to shop at a store that so little values their customers. So they lost my business that day along with all of my friends as well. read more

Really bad experience, not just manager ZeZe was getting really impotent and telling me instead of going there next time to find a new location to take him to, but I also had to pay $41 for pretty much a bath they did to him. My dog was there for about 4-5 hours and his appoiment was at 12:30 . He wasnt even fully dried nor brushed so i dont really know what to say about the experience but that it was bad. And i find it really disrespectful the way she told me to find a new location and didnt even really explained why i had go pay $41. read more

I've been coming here for years and my baby always comes out looking great after her grooming. The downfall is it's hard to get an appointment so I have to booked sometimes weeks in advance because I can only do weekends. The past 3 appointments I've had got cancelled due to their scheduling issues. I've never complained although it affected my schedule and of course my baby. But by the third time, I was fed up. Ready to rage and take it to the next level, Cece their grooming manager reached out to me the next day and told me to bring my baby in. Cece was very responsive and apologetic to my situation and handled me respectfully and professionally. I can't rate Petsmart's 5 stars just yet but I definitely give Cece 5 stars! I've dealt with Petsmart's Store Managers before and they have no experience in customer service. Cece should be training all employees on her leadership skills. PetSmart Grooming is unreliable and incompetent. I brought our dog to get checked in at 7am when they open, to which no one was there. Our dog was dropped at doggie day care until his appointment at 9am. The groomers call me at 9am to say they couldn't groom him because he wasn't checked in and given a health check. He was at doggie day camp which he was checked into camp with other dogs. They said they couldn't check him in over the phone or send me the forms via email. How is my dog ok to go to doggie day camp but not receive a grooming. The supervisor Che said that's our policy but wouldn't explain why no one was there at 7am when we went to check our dog in. They offered to reschedule and inconvenience me even more. We called the corporate office who stated the store needs training since he could have been checked at doggie day camp for his grooming appointment. We will never return for grooming since they are unreasonable and made no effort to fix their mistake or groom our dog. Our dog stayed at doggie day camp the whole day without his grooming. If there is a need for a health check review before grooming it should be stated before you make a reservation. They should also have staffing when they open at 7am. Will never return!!! read more

I like this particular store because it's fairly big and they have great selections for toys and clothing. Every time I have been to this location I have gotten great service. My dog gets groomed, only had one incident where he got cut accidentally and the staff brought it to my attention ASAP. However they are hiring a bunch of children who do not want to work...DO NOT TELL ME YOU DONT HAVE HILLS DIGESTIVE CARE FOOD WITHOUT CHECKING!! Anyways I found it myself after looking thoroughly. He fights and pulls to not go to the vet and they always hold the door for me and get me into a room quickly so i stuffle as little as possible with him. I visited this store today on my way home from work, I usually go to Petco since I have had great experiences there. At this Petsmart I experienced terrible customer service, there were no employees around to help me. When I walked in the cashier was on her phone!!! After standing around for a few minutes waiting for assistance I asked the cashier a simple question, and she responded with a condescending remark. Also the condition of the animals is also very poor. Many were visibly sick which was upsetting. I will never purchase anything from here. I will definitely be sticking with petco or burke pet nutrition center from now on. read more

We had enough! The manager of doggy day camp needs to go back to customer service school. I was a loyal customer for 18 months. I had reservations for the day before Thanksgiving. When I showed up they refused to take her. They said they had called to cancel because of overbooking. The problem was they called my work. Obviously she gets dropped off before work. As a result, I missed a days work. My dog was often placed with dogs twice her size. At times she would be in "time out" "for her own safety" because she tried to play with dogs that didn't want to play with her. She often came home covered in fleas. On the bright side, the associates and handlers are wonderful. read more

We dropped our dog, Gracie (6.5 years, Schipperke), at the Springfield, VA PetSmart Pet Hotel on Monday, 19 November for boarding (we had planned on boarding her 19 Nov - 25 Nov). We received a call a little after 6 am, Wednesday (21 November) morning, which was the first time they contacted us. The employee told us Gracie was sick with diarrhea and was transported to an emergency room. The vet called shortly thereafter to explain Gracie was in shock (very low body temp and difficult to find pulse), but that they were re-hydrating with fluids and would be in touch shortly. Gracie was lethargic and they were unable to stabilize her pulse. Her pupils were pinpoints and non-reactive to light. After fluids were initiated and Gracie's status continued to decline, we agreed with the doctor it would be best to let her go peacefully rather than allow her to suffer through any more pain (bloody diarrhea was continuing). Gracie passed away a little after 10am Wednesday morning (I am noting time in Texas, as we were visiting our daughter who is leaving for Iraq next month). We trusted PetSmart, as we have previously boarded Gracie in Michigan, and we were pleased with the way they cared for her. But this experience, with what appears to be extreme caregiver neglect by not calling us sooner to tell us she was sick (laying in her own excrement for 12 plus hours--after they assured us someone was there around the clock), and by not sending her to the emergency department sooner, has mortified us. I will share with all pet owners I meet the experience our poor Gracie endured while at the PetSmart Pet Hotel in Springfield, VA. read more

I wish there was a negative button I could give. specifically, MIESHA from the grooming department. By far the worlds worst groomer I've ever encounter. I have been coming here for years to drop off my bishon and have never had a problem. I came in this morning and was very specific that I didn't want my dog shaved and was told they would try (that's all I ask, TRY!) they also said they'd have to charge extra, I understood that too, my dog really needed that anyways. I get a call back five hours later, assuming, they really did work it was fine. I paid at the register and when I came to retrieve my dog, I didn't even believe it was him. His ears were long his skin was so red and irritated and his tail looked like it was an after thought, he was completley shaved. I was very upset and expressed it to this MIESHA and Miesha countered with the nastiest attitude (as if I had offended her worthless work) and told her she needed to make the ears and tail match the nakedness of his body. THE WORST GROOMER EVER. Don't torture your pet with this person!!!!!!!! You have been warned! read more

I really like this Petsmart and am glad this one is closest to my home, as it also happens to be convenient to repeat my business here for my pet supplies. Just about all of the associates are helpful and friendly here, but the ones that perhaps stands out the most are Kenny and Richard. Kenny's really knowledgeable about reptiles and fish; as he's always helped answer questions about my pets at home. Richard is extremely knowledgeable about dogs; and his advice helped me get my home set up for a new pup. read more

This is strictly for the dog grooming only. I actually like PetSmart (the store itself is always good and the staff is wonderful. This is for their grooming service) We took our puppy for her first grooming (she's 18 weeks). Our pup is very finicky and really squirms when we try and clip her nails. It terrifies me since I've cut a previous dog's quick too thin before and after that have been very cautious. Since we have such a hard time doing it ourselves, we took her to PetSmart to have them done. They convinced us to have her cut (she was getting a little moppy). We were apprehensive, but felt relatively confident that she would be okay. When we picked her up the manager informed us that she was awful and that next time if her behavior didn't improve she would sedate her...first of all. What kind of person sedates a dog to have them groomed? Did she bite them? Nope. She peed all over the place because she was scared...Hi..its a new puppy. She was terrified. If you couldnt get the job done, or you thought she wasn't handling it well, you should have called me to come pick her up. Don't lecture me on how she's a bad puppy. Yes, she has a tude, and she does not like being fussed with, but we constantly handle her feet, have done all of the brushing exercises, etc. she just didn't like the atmosphere. When she showed us how she cut the face, she said the dog backed up and yelped because she pulled the hair. Yeah, thats pretty standard. The cut was good, but we will not be returning. Yes, you get what you pay for, and TLC is not one of the things they specialize in. Will find a less commercial groomer who is willing to take the time to make our baby comfortable and less freaked out. read more

This rating is for the doggy daycare and pet hotel. We refer to the team that works here as our dog Ax's "extended pack" because he loves them so much... and "love" is not hyperbole. My dog gets as excited to see Paul the manager when we're dropping him off as he does when he sees us, his family, when we pick him up after a week-long vacation. Our dog LOVES Paul and just wants to be his sidekick all the time. If our dog could talk, I'm pretty sure it'd be a Ted-Mark Wahlberg style friendship. However - what really puts this operation in the top echelon is their ability to be flexible and responsive in a crisis situation. At a regular checkup and to our great surprise, we found out that my wife was in full labor earlier than anticipated. We were advised to be at the hospital within an hour. However, we hadn't made any arrangements for Ax. When we called the 1-800-755-PETS number to make a reservation for our guy, but the automated line took forever and eventually told us that all locations were booked up. I called this location direct and they told us not to worry, bring in our guy, and they'd sort it out. Sure enough, hurried and out-of-breath with my wife trying to remain calm in the car, I hauled Ax up to the counter and seamlessly handed him off to Paul and turned around to take off straight to the hospital. They took care of everything for us. A few days later I was back to pick him up and he was as happy as could be... at least until he met his healthy new siblings!! read more

We stopped by today to pick up some dog food for our dog. After seeing that it was not on the shelf we had to track down a pets mart staff because no one was on the floor to assist us. I spoke to one of the cashier and asked if they had anymore in the back and her response was they no longer carry that brand. Really!! Royal Canin is a pet smart brand and they don't carry it. I find that hard to believe. We felt like she just didn't want to go check because it would have been a long walk to the back to check. that's poor customer service read more

My boys absolutely hate this place, which is evident as soon as we hit the parking lot and one of them starts to shake with fear. I used to take them to get groomed here, but stopped after picking up Diego and finding his claw had been cut so low that even 30 minutes later (approximately an hour after getting the call to pick him up) it had not stopped bleeding. They didn't even tell me, I only realized it after paying when I noticed he was creating a blood smear on the white tile as we left. It was the final straw because it had happened, but not as bad, the time before. Plus they aren't very friendly, probably because they appear to be overworked. I feel uncomfortable coming on the weekend because it brings to mind a sweatshop, dog after dog being groomed by a sweaty, tired, young and probably underpaid worker. read more

I just called in and spoke to Michael and ask to see if they had pimafix? Was on hold for 10mins so I hung up. Called back again and after 16 rings someone finally pick up. I asked her the same question. She was able to find it at $12.99 however when I asked her for the size of the bottle and how many did she have I can clearly hear her purposely hang up the phone. So I called back for the third time after 19 rings finally someone picks up and this time I speak to Natalia she was very nice and found out everything that I needed. She knew what the product was and the price , size and quantity that she had. Thank you so much for you're help. This one star review is really for Michael and for the second woman that picked up with the raspy voice. It's pretty sad that it took three people and three different calls to find out a few questions about what they sold. If anyone needed to call her for any questions?? Good luck !!! I am rating the grooming salon at PetSmart/Springfield. I had been taking my dogs there for many years, and they usually got an "ok" grooming. But the main issues I had with them were (a) it always took hours to groom my wire-haired dachshunds and (b) the salon was incredibly noisy and chaotic. So I started going to another salon that gave great grooms, was a calmer place, and actually was cheaper than PetSmart and closer to my home. Recently, I was not able to get a timely appointment at my regular place. I was desperate for my dog to get groomed, so I resorted to PetSmart. Bad move. It was a weekday, and the salon didn't look or sound particularly full to me. Nevertheless, it took them 4 hours to groom 25 lb my dog. In addition, while they did what I asked (trimming him down so there was not a lot of hair on his legs, face and body) they shaved him so much that he actually looks like a smooth haired doxie! Geez, it was no wonder my dog was giving me the "stink eye" for days afterwards. Plus, while he got shaved all over, they completely missed one underarm! He still had wads of hair under there, that I needed to brush out so it would be comfortable for him. Would not recommend PetSmart for grooming -- it's too expensive, it takes too long, and you can't be sure what you are getting. read more

Staff is unhelpful and store is kinda grungy, but they get a second star for having more stuff for big dogs (like my little guy) than the Falls Church and Potomac Yard locations - probably because 120-lb. dogs are the exception rather than the rule in Arlington. read more
