Boutique lingerie fittings aren't for everybody. Stores like this don't keep their bras on the floor--the fitters bring selections to you and you talk to them about what you want. They will measure your ribs and breasts, and they will touch the bra to help fit it. That's kind of the point, because you go here for the experts' knowledge. If you're uncomfortable with that, then stick to online shopping. That said, I love a good shopping session at a lingerie boutique, and Petticoat Fair was lovely! My fitter was Nicole and she was wonderful. She had a great eye for fit, understood what I was looking for, and had some great ideas for other styles we could special order. She made me feel good about my body and I never felt like she was judging my belly or other fat jiggly parts. She respected my tastes and price points in a really wonderfully subtle way that I really appreciate. Thank you Nicole!!!! One suggestion for the shop: it would be nice if there was a plus size intimates wear section, like the little maternity nook. It gets boring and kind of sad to walk around a shop full of clothes only to find out, repeatedly, they're all too small. (You might not have enough product for something like this, and I get that, but it would be a marvelous addition to your shop.) I've had lots of friends raaaave about Petticoat Fair, so I finally went in to try them out a few weeks back. I walked in, went to the front desk to ask for a fitting, and waited a little bit until someone was free. I got to check out what was on the floor, and saw a good variety of swimsuits, sale items, night wear, and tanks. All kinds of basics are available you as a shopper - its not only bras in there, folks! My fitting was not too awkward, and I was definitely comfortable. My sales associate selected a few bras based on what I asked for, and threw in a few others that she thought would appeal to me. And they did. haha. She'd give me space to try on all of the bras she brought out, and would frequently come by to assist or help with any opinions on how things fit. It was REALLY helpful. The one thing I find interesting, though - most people who go here find themselves needing a bigger size than they thought. It makes me wonder; is there such a thing as "Vanity Sizing" in the bra industry? I know certain brands size differently - much like a pair of jeans or a top - and I can confidently say that getting a larger bra size can appeal to just about anyone. read more

Before putting too much stock in my opinion, you should know I've never actually set foot in Petticoat Fair. Furthermore, it is very rare for me to wear ladies' undergarments. That said, this establishment has earned five stars from me. Ordering a gift certificate online was easy as can be. Allison emailed me right away to confirm my order and to work out a couple of small special requests (such as mailing the certificate in a plain envelope so the other mail-receivers/lingerie-wearers in my home would remain none the wiser). "Wow! I never knew my boobs could do THAT!" File under things heard in the fitting room at Petticoat Fair. I'd tagged along with my mom, who needed some good supportive undergarments for an upcoming special event. Upon hearing THIS exclamation however, I decided I too needed to get fitted for a bra. The hostess fitted me and brought in four or five bras that each cost enough to feed my family for a week. With her help, I squeezed myself into five bras that felt considerably more snug than all my Target bras. A little shake here, a little squeeze there...and who knew! My boobs can do that too! Still...that price tag. I contemplated. I decided to mozy on out and look at the bathing suit tops as well. I have a black bikini top I bought at some cheapie beach store that looks as cheap as it was, and I wanted to get one that looked a little better. Their bikini tops are also by cage and cup size, and so I was able to find a bikini top that gave me a really amazing fit. This, to me is where Petticoat Fair shines, perhaps because the girls are going out on the town in a suit for me, but never really on a day to day basis. After all that, I decided to take the, er, plunge, and buy the bra and the suit top. My mom loved her undergarments for my brother's upcoming wedding, except the spanx, which she kept asking for in a larger size. Oh, mom. I'll be buying all my bikini tops here from now on, and offset the cost of the top by continuing to shop at target for bottoms. And I'll probably still get my bras at target, since I'm honestly not someone who requires a ton of support...but at least I'll be better at getting the right size now... read more

In an extremely fortunate turn of events, I found Highland Mall closed today, so instead of hitting up Victoria's Secret, I was forced to Yelp for other underwear options. I gave Petticoat Fair a try because of the rave reviews and because it's close to my neighborhood. I was impressed. With only an hour until closing time, I signed in and was greeted in less than five minutes. I was promptly measured and brought armloads of bras to try on. I found the strapless that I came for within the first few minutes, and continued to try on other things for another half hour. I received suggestions on how to wear, because it was obvious that I've never bought GOOD bras before, and all of the "looks good/not-so-good" advice I got was spot-on. The service seemed a bit hurried, but I expected as much on a Saturday just before closing time, when they had to help more than one person at a time. I spent a bit more than I intended, but I got comfortable good-looking things for about the same price as the less-impressive stuff at the mall. Awesome. Like a lot of reviewers, I don't really enjoy the bra-fitting process in general, nor would I say I'm a girlie girl. This week was my 3rd visit to PFair, and it was great. Kerala had my fit checked, T-shirt bras located, and a complete discussion of the bra-straps-in-summer phenomenon sorted out in 30 minutes. Truly profesh, lady knows her stuff. Points to ponder: * If you buy 6 regular price bras here within a year, they give you a credit of the avg price towards a 7th bra. * A good fitter will save you time and frustration in figuring out which bras are your breast shape. I just went to Petticoat Fair this afternoon and remembered how lucky we are in Austin to have a store like this. Ladies, we all need properly sized undergarments. If you're not sure whether your unmentionables are a perfect fit, then they probably aren't. But have no fear, the fantastic people at Petticoat Fair will have you looking svelte in the perfectly sized undergarments no time. Petticoat Fair offers a beautiful selection of panties and bras in a wide range of sizes. They can assist with slender, full, or very full figures. They also carry swimsuits, pajamas, lingerie, adorable camisoles, wedding crinoline, and special items for maternity wear, nursing mothers, and breast cancer patients. It's the kind of store where if you just purchased a prom dress, a wedding dress, or another piece of clothing that needs a special undergarment underneath, you take in your clothing, show it to the saleslady helping you, and she'll go retrieve a variety of items to try on that fit just right. The products are all high-quality, the staff are professional undergarment sales associates, and the overall experience is so much more grown-up and enjoyable than doing this kind of shopping in the mall. Pricing is probably a little more on the high end (i.e., on average, $55 give or take for a bra), but today, for example, I found just what I needed for $35. And when they have sales, you can find great deals! For personal service when you arrive at the store, sign in on the sign-in sheet, browse a bit, and a sales associate will find you as soon as she can. If you've been there before, they'll pull up your profile and past purchases to see what size you take and products you've liked in the past. I've known about PF for years, but just never seemed to get myself over there. I had only been fitted once, at Nordstroms, but had not been real happy with what I ended up with. So this weekend I finally went to PF. I was shocked at the size she recommended for me...I thought she was crazy! But after trying on a few and tweaking the size just a little, I found the right fit. This is never in a million years the size I would have picked for myself, but it works and I'm really happy. The price was less than what I spent at Nordstroms, spending right about $50 per bra which I thought was very reasonable. So not all of their selection is super expensive. I didn't give all five stars because the service was rushed. The store was somewhat busy (but not slammed) and they try to get to everyone as quickly as they can, but I would have liked the person helping me to slow down and take a little more time with me. She was confident in her fitting abilities, but I needed some time to get comfortable with this new size and to understand how it should fit and be worn. I saw a well-endowed woman at Schlitterbahn with a perfectly fitting bikini top and immediately asked where she had purchased it. She pointed to me to Petticoat Fair, so I made a stop in Austin on our return to Houston. I was fitted and presented with several lovely bikini tops. One was a better fit than the others (though not perfect) but it was the best that I had ever had so I made the purchase and was quickly on my way. I was halfway to Houston when the manager called to let me know that I had left my wallet behind. She graciously offered to send it priority mail to me in Houston. I requested that it be overnighted at my cost and she accommodated my request and I had my wallet back in my purse on Tuesday. read more

So, as a girl of the busty persuasion everyone always told me about Petticoat Fair. After becoming SERIOUSLY fed up with a recent trip to Victoria's Secret where I was told that they only had one bra that would fit me, I decided I needed to step it up a notch. I went on a Saturday, so there was a wait. I think I waited 30 minutes? It's a small store and most of the pajamas seemed catered to old ladies, so it was a boring wait. When I got a cute little room in the back, I was felt up to check my size. I expected it, so it didn't really phase me, and after a few times of the woman helping me just opening the curtain while I was in the midst of changing, I gave up caring who saw me at all. Basically, if your shy, you might leave feeling a bit exposed. The only thing that kinda miffed me was how rude the woman was when I asked to see more structured cup bras. She was bringing me a lot of the fabric ones which were cute but also a little itchy. I ended up getting two bras, a formed cup and a fabric one. It was around $120 but I've never been more satisfied with how my girls look. read more

I visited this store for the first time this week. I had a great experience. I went with a friend and they allowed us to share a room. Bra shopping is never a fun experience, so you might as well take a friend and try to make it fun, right? Elise was our fitter. We walked in at like 10:10, and they opened at 10. So, noone was in front of us. They did get busier while we were there and people would sign in and have to wait. I suggest going early. I had a double mastectomy and implants 5 years ago, and have honestly never been fitted since then. I had NO IDEA what size I was. I've always lived in sports bras since, which I'm fine with. They fitted me for a comfortable and great looking bra. AND they even have swimwear. I certainly didn't plan on getting a swim top, but Elise brought me some great ones to try. Great experience. I've known for a while that my bras were not performing at the level I expected them to, and the culprit was probably mediocre quality and, more importantly, incorrect sizing. Petticoat Fair came up as the top place in Austin to try for professional bra fitting and for getting high quality lingerie, but I was still hesitant-- though I really wanted my girls to look their best, did I really want to spend hundreds of dollars on new bras? Let me tell you something-- any doubts I had about how much I was willing to pay were erased shortly into the fitting process. The bras selected for me by the store associate fit me better and looked better than any bra I've owned in my entire life. The associate was incredibly helpful in helping me narrow down what style of bra I wanted, and she even made me fall in love with styles that I would never have chosen on my own. I ended up walking out with three new bras and a matching panty for one of them, and while it definitely wasn't cheap, it was worth every penny to discover how amazing a well-fitted bra makes me look and feel. If you're petite, SKIP! I'm giving this place two stars bc both my sister and mom who are very large chested (DD-F) loved the bras they were fitted with. But if you're petite like me (30-32 B) the selection isn't great. The majority of bras they found for me were heavily padded/push up, fit VERY wide (so they dug into my armpits), and just weren't worth it. I did find one bra style that I could live with but it isn't anything to brag about (looks like I got it from target but paid $60 for it). When asked for more options, the manager I was working w just shrugged her shoulders and gave me "tough luck sister." I wanted to fall in love w this place but yet again, it's just another bra store telling petite women that they need to make themselves look bigger since they're not perfect the way they are. Tried finding a bikini at a couple of the other high ranked swimwear stores. No luck finding anything small enough for my (not particularly small) ribcage, that also had cups large enough for me to pop out of (and I'm not particularly well endowed). Came in to Petticoat Fair and took advantage of the proffered fitting. Elise was fabulous - she brought in a huge array of tops until we narrowed down flattering & comfortable styles. I left with two bikinis that I am super happy with. Having not bought one in more than 5 years, and that one not fitting well, this was awesome. The fit was so dang good that I ended up getting bras, too. I'd been fitted years ago as a size that's not carried by Target or most department stores, so I've been wearing I'll fitting bras for years because I really hate shopping. Again, Elise the fitter was a champ - we tried different styles, and she pointed out problems with the cuts for my build I wouldn't have ever noticed. After rave reviews from a colleague, I opted to check out Petticoat Fair. I've been twice now, and have had two slightly different experiences. My first visit involved an initial fitting. The associate brought a great selection of bras for me to try on. Unfortunately, I felt like I was rushed and that my concerns about fit were being dismissed by the associate as insecurities. I did end up exchanging these bras at my second visit. I felt that my second visit was loads more positive than the first. I found that the second (different) associate noted my concerns and took them seriously. She suggested a different cup style and brought some great bras for me to try on (I swear, if I earned more money, I'd be in a different Natori every day...) She even went into detail regarding bra fit and cup shapes, which was very welcoming. Thank goodness I found a great/knowledgable associate my second time around. I had a really great experience here. I got to the store about 20 minutes before closing, thinking I'd try on a couple things. i was asked to sign in and wait for a personal fitter to come help me. I immediately felt bad, because I didn't want to keep anyone past hours, but I agreed and moseyed around for 15 minutes until someone came to get me. I apologized and said I would be quick, but she was very nice and said it was no problem. She measured me, brought some bras in, and helped me adjust every bra. She didn't rush me at all, and I managed to try on 10+ bras and find one I loved in 15 minutes. It's a LITTLE too small in the ribcage area, but otherwise I love it. I was a little nervous about my options, since they seemed a little... old, but honestly this bra is fantastic. I will be returning! read more

Petticoat Fair is the solution to problems you didn't know you had. I came here to buy wedding underthings, and was treated with respect and kindness despite being very nervous based on bad experiences elsewhere. My sales lady fitted me first thing with a beautiful and affordable corset (they have corsets! not just waist cinchers!) and helped me find a variety of petticoats to go under my dress. They special ordered an unusual length for me and it came in in about ten days. Every time I have visited I have been greeted and welcomed, and if someone can't help me right that second, they always let me know that they know I'm there. When it's time to try things on, they leave me alone if I want to do that and will offer advice if I ask for it. I cannot wait to go back and check out their swimsuits and buy something amazing for my honeymoon. read more

I can't add much to the generally effusive reviews here, but I had a wonderful experience at Petticoat Fair (after I stumbled upon other happy tales on Yelp, natch), and I feel compelled to share my experience. I mainly dropped in to buy a swimsuit for an upcoming vacation, since the endless selection of string bikinis at other stores make my boobs want to cry. I went in thinking that my bra size was probably a tad inaccurate, but I never anticipated that I would be so far off or that I'd leave feeling like a properly-fitted bra had changed my life forever. My friend and I waited a few minutes for our name to be called, and a consultant thoughtfully gave us the option of one or two dressing rooms. I was surprised that she didn't ask us to take off our shirts in order to be measured, but when she returned with a selection of bras that fit perfectly (and were five cup sizes larger than I'd been wearing), I became a believer. The salesperson made us feel totally comfortable and was obviously very knowledgeable. Yes, the bra fits a little tighter than I'm used to, but when I see how perky everything looks, it become clear that my older bras were actually too big, waist-wise. For pretty, lacy purple things with buttons and lace, $65 seems a fair price. She also brought me the teal and brown swimsuit top I'd been eying before my appointment. It was still a bit loose in the back, so I opted for an $8 alteration. Again, this doesn't seem too terrible a price for some stitching. Unfortunately, they were out of matching swimsuit bottoms in my size, but they gave me several recommendations for stores that carry swimsuits in winter. My only gripe is that I'll never want to wear any of my old bras ever again, but there are worse problems to have. I'll definitely be back. read more

I have been going here since high school and I have always had a great experience, and today was no different. Nicolle assisted me in getting many new bras. I have always dreaded bra shopping because I am small with a decent size bust (in the last 5 years I've been anywhere between a 28E - 32DD), not exactly sizes you'd find in the typical retailers, but coming here they actually have a large selection which is amazing. I can find any type of bra and if a certain style isn't in stock, they will order it or if they need to alter a bra to fit you, they can do that as well. Today I explained to Nicolle what I was looking for and she was amazing at providing options. I found types of bras I would have never before considered and despite the large amount of bras I tried on, she was not the least bit pushy in trying to make a sale. While these bras are not necessarily cheap, they do have a range of prices and if you let them know your budget, they do their best to find what you need within it. For women of all shapes and sizes, I highly recommend this place. You get quality service by women who know what they are talking about, and in the end you get quality products as well. read more

Ladies! You must come here! Being professionally fitted for a bra will change your life! I discovered that I had been wearing the wrong bra size for much of my life. We showed up on a Saturday morning and were taking back immediately to the changing rooms. Our fitter, Lea, took our measurements and brought us back several options. She explained why each bra worked for us and what we should look for when trying one on. I loved everything she brought me and the prices were reasonable. It was awesome to have someone come in, check to make sure the fit was correct and bring different options to the fitting room. I liked that I never had to leave the dressing room. I sorta gave up on bras about 3 years ago. I hate wearing them and always had a horrible time trying to buy one. But then I was going to be a bride all of the sudden and felt I should look like a grown up type person on my wedding day, plus the girls weren't looking their best in my dress all on their own. Enter petticoat fair and their awesome staff, who listened to me, never said a word about my admitted hatred for bras and reluctance to wear them, and got me fitted for a strapless bra that both blew my mind size wise (34 F, WHAT! the last bra I bought was a 38C and I thought it fit just fine) and price wise (don't remember exactly, but well under the $75 or so I was budgeting for). It was such a good price I went ahead and bought a second bra for those rare outfits I think are greatly improved by a bra and still walked out for less than my wedding bra budget . I'm still not a bra wearing convert, but at least I have two that fit me well and aren't little torture devices when I'm wearing them. All done much quicker than I was expecting on a Saturday afternoon. And for something that requires letting a stranger look at your boobs in various undergarments, the consultant made me feel completely comfortable and accepted body-wise. read more

Very disappointed in my experience. Left with two bras which, after wearing for longer than 2 minutes, were incredibly uncomfortable. I returned one, but had to keep the other because I wore it for an entire evening. Was given an extender which helped a little. However, after the second wear, one of the strap holders broke so now I can only wear it as a strapless. I was measured incorrectly, and my attendant wasn't all that helpful, just throwing bras over the stall door to me, which honestly, I could have done myself. read more

Petticoat Fair is amazing. I spent years wearing uncomfortable, ill-fitting bras that never did what bras are supposed to do - SUPPORT. One trip here and I will never go back to the terrible pink place in the mall. Ladies, you are probably not wearing the right bra size. I thought I was a 34C - wrong. The It's been a few years but I'm wearing a 28F, something I didn't even think existed until Petticoat Fair set me straight. My girls have NEVER LOOKED BETTER! The ladies are so helpful. My last fitter went digging in the newly-arrived shipment to find my perfect bra - she even had to add it to the store's inventory before she could sell it to me. Recently went to get fitted because I was tired of excess tissue not having the proper support. The store has been redecorated since my last visit many years ago and it looks fantastic. Yes you have to sign in but meanwhile you can peruse the store for some interesting finds. I can not remember the name of the lovely blonde staff person but she was amazingly knowledgeable, very informative and very easy to talk to. She spent over an hour with us, never made us feel rushed or looked harried. I will definitely be going back for more gorgeous bras and truly great customer service! read more

This is a great store. I needed a mastectomy bra and prosthetic, and the fitter was extremely helpful. I ended up buying 7 bras (buy 6, get 1 free), plus an extra prosthetic for my swimsuit that I can use in a chlorine pool. They only had a couple of mastectomy styles, but that was okay because 1 of them was a perfect fit. The showroom is large, and they have a great selection of gorgeous lingerie. I couldn't resist getting a couple of nightgowns and some panties. I got there about noon on Saturday and expected a long wait, but my fitter was ready for me within 15 minutes. I was measured and was surprised at my size (36-G) as I thought I was a 44DD. My fitter was nice and professional (I forget her name) and brought me a lot of bras to try on. I went here looking for that perfect bra to wear with my wedding dress and left a very happy girl! I purchased this amazingly beautiful dress with an oh-so-low back and could not find something that worked until a bridal shop recommended Petticoat Fair. I was slightly confused when I walked in, not knowing in advance that this was not the type of place where you browse for yourself. However, once I got started with my consultant I had a blast. It was actually fun having someone measure you and bring what they thought would work for your body. I tried a lot on and left with not only a bustier for my wedding dress but also shape-wear for underneath, two every day bras and a special something for Valentine's Day. I will definitely go back here regularly for bras. Their pricing is comparable, if not less, than Victoria's Secret and they have a great "bra club" where when you buy 6 bras, the average price of those 6 is applied toward the purchase of your 7th. So basically, you end up with a free bra. Definitely worth a visit! read more

Found this place by accident when I was at the salon next door. They quality of their products exceeds all other stores I have found. I found a long wire bra and shape wear or my wedding day that are exceptional. The level of service is far superior to David's bridal. I kept hearing about this place but never got around to going until today. I'll admit it- I used to buy cheap bras. I was all about the $14 JCPenney special that would kinda fit for a few months. But today I had just had enough of constantly pulling on my bra, the top of my boobs spilling out no matter what I did. So I got in the car and went to Petticoat Fair. Yes I was wearing the wrong sized bra, but I suspected that. The actual sizing process was quick and totally easy. I never felt awkward or embarrassed. I like that the woman helping me just got right down to business- no silly fluff conversation. She asked me what I liked in a bra, listened and then set out to grab me exactly what I asked for. In total it took less than one hour to get me set up with 6 great bras. Yes, they cost more than my old JCPenney special but they were no more expensive than the sports bras I wouldn't even think twice about buying. Well done Petticoat Fair! I've been going to Petticoat Fair for the past couple of years and will never buy a bra anywhere else again. They have a large variety of styles and will find one that fits you perfectly. I worked with Rachel twice and both times she made me feel comfortable and I left with the perfect bra for me. Lost a star because I signed in and they said the wait would be 15-20 minutes, but I waited more like 30. When I got to the fitting room, most were empty. But, I wanted to wear light colored shirts in air conditioned rooms again someday so I knew I had to get fitted. After reading Yelp reviews, I headed to Petticoat Fair. I expected that they wouldn't have anything small enough for me, and if they did, I expected it to be expensive, and that would have been okay. Instead I walked out with a bra for under $30 because it was the one I liked the best, and it actually fits. The gal helping me really listened to me when I said NO underwire, NO push-up, instead of assuming that every small-chested woman wants to make her boobs look way bigger! All of the staff were professional and friendly. One tip, though: if you go on a weekend, bring a book. I've been meaning to leave a review for this place for a long time, and I don't know what took me so long. My first time trying this place, I was blown away. It was probably two years ago now. I still remember the name of the saleslady that helped me: Kelly. She was amazing!! I could not believe just how knowledgeable she was. The second time I went, I had a different salesperson help me, and unfortunately I don't remember her name but she was awesome too. I already had a list going of bras I liked under my profile in their system, so I didn't need as much help. She had good additional suggestions for me though that I intend to buy when I have the money. This place is fantastic. They have such a wide variety of undergarments! I'm so spoiled but their shopping experience, I can't imagine going somewhere else. You just sign in, tell them what you are looking for (they will measure) and bring everything to you. Seriously, give them a try. I can not say enough good things about this place. They will custom fit you for the perfect bra! You may have to wait a bit to get back there but it's worth the wait! I have been coming to Petticoat Fair for many years now & I am never disappointed. You will pay on average, about $80 for a new bra, but trust me when I tell you it's worth every penny. I have even bought a few bras for $200. The prices of course vary. They have everything you could imagine, from different styles & sizes, to fit every woman's needs. Go now! Run! This was my first visit to Petticoat Fair and I was very impressed. I went in to find undergarments for my wedding day. I was a little nervous that I wouldn't find what I wanted (bustier) because I wear a 40DDD bra, and I'm full-figured. Finding something supportive can be difficult. I only had to wait about ten minutes after signing in to see a fitter. My fitter was very personable and knowledgeable. She took the time to listen to what I wanted and found me several options! I left with exactly what I'd hoped to find! The fit is perfect! Well worth the expensive price tag. This place is awesome! As soon as we walked in, they offered us bottled water and asked how they could help. We wanted to get fitted for bras. We had Nicole (so knowledgeable and nice) and Kristen (who was also helpful). They were patient and really helped us find the best size to fit us in everyday wear, sportswear, and sleepwear. So, I am a little spoiled with the bra place I had in Denver, but this place is A-OK. They do an OK job of measuring and finding a fit and the bras were somewhat cute. For about a year, I had only been wearing large sized nursing bras from Motherhood. I knew I needed to get fitted, but had been putting it off hoping to get closer to my old size. However, my back started to hurt so I knew it was time to go in and get fitted. I googled around for a store in Austin that is like my store in Denver. Petticoat Fair came up and I thought I would give it a try. When I walked in, they asked me to sign in and I could either have a seat or look around until someone could help me find my size. What I saw was the bras they carry are not super cute. They have a few pretty ones and some Lacey ones, but I was hoping for something that fits well and is stylish. When I was called, the lady came to find me and she put me in the largest dressing room because I had Ms. Princess with me. This way we could spread out. I appreciate that greatly! When I tried on the undergarments, the lady was not sure of the fit so she got one cup size larger. When that was on me, she said it looked better and explained why. When paying, I asked if they carried the brand that I use to buy. They lady behind the counter said no and went on her marry way. I wish she would have shown some interest in what I was looking for to maybe get it for next time. Anyhow, I walked away confident that I had the right size. When I got home, after a wash and a wear, I am not so sure they were the right size. It is too late for me to take them back, but the fit is OK. I wish I had gotten the smaller size. Ah well, it was better than what I had before and I will still go back there next time. I am just so spoiled with my previous place. read more
