Writing this 1 star review really saddens me because I had a lot of hopes for this vet office when I first took my frenchie named Cookies. A couple months back, my baby was experiencing some symptoms that to me seemed like maybe IVDD symptoms, laying on his chest with his back legs straight sticking his butt up in the air. I took him to Pet time Hospital to get checked and paid ALL the monies that I was told to pay (about $1,300) to cover all the exams and scans that i was told he needed. Results: clear, he did not have IVDD and did not have anything else wrong with his spine. Diagnosis: acid reflux which could have been what was causing discomfort. Fast forward now to last week Thursday Aug 14, my baby started experiencing symptoms of IVDD again which is laying on his chest with his butt sticking up...but that was it, no other symptoms aside from that. That morning, my son took Cookies in to Pet hospital to have his back, butt and spinal area checked. Dr. Fisher I was told was on vacation so we were told that he would be seen by Dr. Fry. My dog is a very anxious dog and they know this because they've seen him before and should be in his record. Of course I was not there, but what I was told by my son makes sense because thats exactly how my dog is and what he does when he's anxious. My son says that when he got to PetTime, he carried Cookies in, forgetting the leash to the harness in his car. My son ask the front desk staff if he should go get the leash or if they had one for them to use while the exam takes place. They said no it's okay, they had a leash for Cookies. They were walked to the first exam room on the right and were left there to wait for a vet tech to come in. My dog was still doing fine in the room with my son. As soon as a vet tech comes in, my dog gets very anxious, starts barking, pulling back at the same time, which he does when he's scared or anxious. He walks back, like stepping away from things. The vet tech reaches over to put the leash on him and instead of clipping it to the body harness that Cookies has on, she put the rope leash around his neck. He of course, got more anxious and starts throwing up. The tech then reacts to him throwing up and wants to take him to the other room by pulling on the leash! The ROPE LEASH that was around his neck! That pull literally choked him causing him to aspirate his vomit, start to choke more and the vomit aspirate to his lungs. Now mind you, my dog did not go in to be seen for absolutely NONE of these symptoms! As soon as she saw that he aspirated to his lungs, my baby started struggling to breathe properly. Thats when my son immediately called me and said: MOM THEY WANT ME TO TAKE COOKIES TO AN EMERGENCY ANIMAL HOSPITAL because he isn't breathing right and they cant help him here. I completely lost it. I had to leave my work, pull my daughter out of school and drive for 35 minutes to get to them. When i got there, my baby was in so much distress, he wasn't breathing right, he was scared and all that the staff there could tell me was that he vomited and it aspirated to his lungs and that they couldn't really help with that there. So after they held me up at the front counter so that I could pay for that visit (which wasn't even an actual visit) and yes, while my dog was struggling to breathe, they sent me rushing to PetEmerg Animal Hospital in Rancho Cucamonga. They said they could help Cookies there because of the technology they have. I asked to speak to Dr. Fry so that she could explain to me exactly what happened however all she could say was that he threw up alot, aspirated to his lungs and that she was concerned with the way his breathing was and how his lungs sounded. She insisted that I take him to PetEmerg because now it had become an actual emergency and his organs could shut down. Im fkn panicking and decided to take my baby to that other hospital. On the 25 minute drive there, my cookies lost consciousness 3 times, trying to catch his breath. It was the most horrible drive in my entire life and extremely traumatizing for my 11 yr old to experience in the car with us. At PetEmerg, he was immediately placed in an oxygen chamber with oxygen levels at the highest and steroids, given all kinds of injections, more steroid, antibiotics, pain meds, all while other techs prepared intubation in case he needed it. He got all the works here again, ct scan, bloodwork, IV, nebulizer, sedation etc plus an overnight stay! Diagnosis: Aspiration Pneumonia. My face this whole time was like: WTF! The vet at PetEmerg expressed that he was very concerned at how PetTime handled an anxious dog. He says the last thing you ever wanna do is pull the leash of an anxious dog. My baby was discharged by PetEmerg with antibiotics and gabapentin in case he had pain coming from his lungs. I will leave a great review for PetEmerg soon because they took good care of my baby! I was able to make a same day appointment for my dog Anna, who was experiencing a skin issue that was concerning. I was graciously greeted when we arrived, the front desk staff was wonderful. The tech was great who caring. Dr. Fry could not have been more gentle, communicative and caring. A couple of times people were on the floor petting and examining my dog. It was if it was their pet that was being examined and treated. The treatment was explained and costs were more than reasonable. Dr. Fry informed me that I was able to call her at anytime if the treatment was not working or there were adverse issues. (Who does that!)
