Pawber Shop's current location is only a few blocks away from my previous groomer so it worked out. Giving it another shot, I made my appointment and brought my senior pup in. Didn't give super detailed instructions but when it was time for pick up, my guy was looking and smelling real good. The girls were real nice and it was a very seamless in and out for us. Pricing was standard for a medium sized dog (31lb cocker spaniel). Parking was easy. Guess this is our spot again.

I really want to like this vet but I feel like it is continuosly made difficult. The location is…read moreokay, the hours are great but each time I've made an appointment here (i've been sticking with this vet hospital for a few years now) I have had to wait at least 45 min to an hour after my scheduled appointment time to even be checked in with by a technician. Sometimes longer to get a room. While I do think that this isn't entirely their fault since afternoons/evenings seems busy (hard to even find a waiting room seat), I do feel that it's worth noting that the time that the vet is actually examining my pet feels so rushed. After waiting almost an hour, I get about 5 minutes tops of a vet talking at me about all the vague possibilities that I could've guessed myself. Most of the vets I've seen thus far have been nice but have all given me "could be/maybe" answers and haven't tried to find further answers when I brought my pet in for a fever and sickness. They ran tests and basically didnt find answers and sent me home to monitor...I genuinely thought my pet was dying and they essentially gave me the google list of possibilities and said "well if they seem to be getting better over time then great!" Which, sure, but I wanted more advocation for my pet so I can prevent this from happening again...I essentially had to tell the doctor...um my pet had a fever and vomiting and despite tests being negative, I'm pretty sure those are signs of infection...if they arent eating or acting like they usually do, couldnt a course of antibiotics be helpful to rule out the possibilty? and the doctor basically said, "yeah i guess you're right a fever could probably be helped with some antibiotics. let's do that!" Not to mention, wildly expensive costs for treatments that they kind of tell you NEED to happen to help your pet. I paid almost $5000 dollars for some xrays and fluids and antibiotics for my pet over 3-4 visits (granted they were all urgent visits, so the exam cost was about double that of a non-urgent visit). $400 alone for a non-urgent visit, 1 test, and some meds. sad. the receptionists have been wonderful though! so props to them for handling some crazy cases and busy days (extra star for them). expect to be here for 1-4 hours depending on what your pet needs and who is available.

The staff was kind and helpful and Dr Fady is especially terrific and empathetic. He helped Oscar recover enough to get through a few more months before he had another heart failure that he couldn't recover from. We still continue to take our other dog there and only see Dr Fady unless it's something minor. Although not the cheapest vet in town, they are open 24 hours and have a pretty good size office and staff. Dr Fady is only in 3 days a week, however, but otherwise if you need someone to see your pet they are pretty accommodating and have at least one other vet and several vet techs.

Laura and Steve are great at communicating policies like holiday schedules and accommodating vet appointments, etc. They are sensitive to how our pup has been attacked on 4 separate occasions while with dog walkers and do everything they can to keep her safe, even steering clear of dogs not in the pre-approved pack. I also love that they put tags on all the dogs in the pack with their contact info, so someone can identify them as part of a group. Steve has an instagram up and running and will occasionally text me pics of Audrey mutt having fun. Makes a work day much better! They also leave little notes about what Audrey did that day. My 9 year old dog was neutered by Dr. Greener and at the same time had a growth on his tongue biopsied and a chronic wound on his ankle biopsied. Two hours after picking him up the tongue biopsy hemorrhaged, it was repaired the next day by another vet in the office. At the two week check up Dr. Greener debrided his ankle wound after I declined, he was pushy and convinced me it was the right thing to do. A very painful procedure and Dr. Greener did not use any local anesthesia or numbing cream. The neuter incision ended up becoming infected and I had to wait 9 hours at the ER vet for him to be seen and he was on multiple rounds of anti-biotics. Dr. Greener was not empathetic to the situation, nor did he ever apologize for the stress and discomfort he put me and my dog through AND he knew that this was the first time I had ever brought a dog in to be neutered. It's now changed names to Small Paws and taken on dogs after being bought by a private equity firm. Last I heard Dr Lawson moved out of the area and Dr Wilson went to the SPCA. According to their website it looks like they do have a new vet, but from his bio it seems like he's mostly a dog guy. I'll give him a chance if I can't find a new cat-only facility before our fall annual visits, but I'm worried about how stressed our cats will be if we come to a multi-animal facility as they age. Their stress was really such a stark difference when we switched to this place, and now our boys are getting older.
