I don't write many reviews but, "I AM SHOCKED, and just had to... The food is freaking amazing. I am a Mexican and southwestern food fanatic and have been for decades. I try to eat at all of the best restaurants in this category I can find anywhere in the world and Pezcow is amongst the very best I've ever been to. I travel extensively for work so I've eaten at many great restaurants and Pezcow is amongst the best. The location is difficult to find but so worth it. From the outside it looks like nothing but the inside is lovely and the food sublime. This restaurant is obviously run by a family who are charming and understated and excellent hosts. The mole it was one of the finest I've ever had. The salsa was perfect which is always my first indicator of a quality Mexican restaurant. Truly I cannot say enough just go and try this place! My family and I went on Sunday to the brunch . Service was excellent and they were very attentive. They had many different foods at the buffet including Birria, mole , caldo de res and much more tortillas were handmade and they were brought to your table often. Buffet menu is changed every weekend. Also fresh fruit and pan dulce included in your meal also included agua fresca or café de olla. Great food and service !!! read more

Horrible service! Our table of four waited more than an hour for our food, while watching all the other tables got their food before us, and some of them came after us. We only ordered two dishes and don't understand why it took so long and why all others got their food but us! Their explanation is "we are too busy tonight". Well, still doesn't explain why other came later than us got their food. We had to leave without eating anything because we had to rush out to pick up kids! What a terrible experience! read more

This new restaurant is not your typical Mexican place but a much more elevated version! Any foodie would absolutely love this place. Ever since I went there, I keep thinking about the food and how much I enjoyed it! The guacamole with the homemade chicharrones were amazing!! I'd go back just for those! The queso funido, ribeye (30oz.!!!) and bacon wrapped shrimp were all exceptional (see pics)!!! But I thoroughly enjoyed my molcajetes mar y tierra!! Ok I didn't get pictures of my food because it was soo good I couldn't wait to dig into it! We went there for Father's Day Sunday brunch buffet and it was delicious. Their service is awesome as well. I've been alive awhile and have eaten regularly, often in restaurants. Also, I've lived in Mexico so I'm familiar with Mexican food. I have to say that an early dinner this evening at Pezcow was among my most memorable bad meals in any restaurant. Fajitas with very greasy, gristly chicken, absolutely tasteless white rice, half an avocado which had been sliced probably yesterday---no pico de gallo, no beans, no guacamole, no sour cream...and no flavor anywhere. Husband ordered Camerones Diablo, shrimp overcooked and tough and lots of shells he had to remove, his plate was decorated with the other half of the same brown, dried out slices of avocado I found on my fajitas. I realize we were there slightly before 5:30 and after that business might pick up, but when we were there there was 1 customer at one table eating. Pretty much the entire staff, 3 men and 2 women (including our waitress) were all at one table eating leaving 1 person in the kitchen- our waitress had to keep interrupting her meal to bring us our food. I did wonder, especially after we tasted our food, if maybe they had left the dishwasher in the kitchen to cook it while they were all on their dinner break. Such a disappointing experience. I must say my husband has eaten at the Pezcow in Mitote Park and enjoyed the experience, also we ordered shrimp tacos from the Pezcow food truck at the Healdsburg Dia de los Muertos festival in October and found them very good, but we definitely won't be returning to this Windsor location ever again. read more

WOW, WOW, WOW Pezcow Restaurant in Windsor has an offering of mole, molcajetes, Nopales, carne, and carnitas that are over the top! Delicious handmade corn tortillas accompany your meal. My husband and I went there to celebrate his birthday. Born in Mexico City, his experience with Mexican food is in the blood, and he couldn't say enough about this restaurant. We both had a molcajete; we should have ordered one instead of two. We got there a little late for the Sunday buffet that included menudo and birria. It looked wonderful. Please support this new restaurant. It is unique to Windsor. If you want a traditional taco spot look elsewhere. If you want highly flavorful, distinctively true Mexican food go to Pezcow. read more

Read a glowing review from Heather Irwin in the PD and decided I should give it a try. I probably should have run for hills (or Taqueria Santa Rosa) when we entered an empty restaurant on Cinco de Mayo -- which simply cannot be a good sign. We were seated quickly in an attractive and clean dining room that gives the right impression. Our server was friendly and provided consistent attentive service. Service and ambience were not the problem here. Not sure whether there has been a change in ownership or a different chef since Heather's review but the food lacked flavor, appetizing textures and a sense of freshness. Pepper heat was uneven and some dishes contained pockets of extraordinary peppery heat. My daughter hit a patch of peppers so hot that she needed to drink her whole glass of water and walk around outside for a while. Other reviewers had commented on the heavy hand with pepper but we did not take those comments seriously. The salsa was a very decent mild Pico de Gallo style and the chips were mostly above average -- except that an occasional chip tasted off as if it had been cooked the prior day. We had the ceviche which tasted canned. Both the octopus and the shrimp were very rubbery and came in a sauce that tasted like a can of V-8. While the portion was quite large, the flavor was lacking and texture off-putting. We had one of the Mexican pizzas -- which seemed like a cool idea -- but the pizza came to the table with veggies that felt and tasted wilted rather than roasted and again the menu item lacked a flavorful sauce and could have benefitted from salt, garlic, onion, cilantro or oregano. The crust was good but everything on top (with the exception of the avocado) just blended together into bland slimy layer without harmony or a pronounced mexican flavor profile. We also had the crispy tacos which were very dry on the inside and overly deep fried on the outside. Here there was more flavor and plenty of salt but they just felt and tasted like the meat had been cooked more than few times, too long or the prior day (or before) and could have used some onion or cilantro to give it a fresher juicier bite. My daughter hit the super-pepper pocket in these tacos which overwhelmed her palate and ended her meal. No one answers the phone or Facebook inquiries on their Facebook page. There is no restaurant website. No obvious way to make reservations. There is no alcohol served although the waitress said they expect to have a liquor license in the future. Not good enough for a second try. read more

First off and for the record, I love Mexican food and have eaten in most of the restaurants and trucks in Sonoma county. I love spice. My wife likes to try different dishes and restaurants that have good ratings. We noticed the five star rating. Well I can tell you it is not 5 star. I ordered the a soup dish that had beans, meat, onions bacon in a green chili stew sauce. The sauce was so spicy that I couldn't even taste the meat or bacon. My wife ordered taquitos and they to we're in a red sauce that was too spicy. The best part of my meal was the chips and green salsa. I can handle spicy but when it out weighs the taste of meat and bacon then that's too hot. The one thing that really put a bad taste in my mouth is the sanitation practices the server used. She did not once wash her hands and when she handed my card back to me it was soiled. Sorry for the true review. read more

Well, this was very interesting. We have tons of great Mexican restaurants in California but this was very different. Maybe the food was from a particular region of Mexico. Either way, this was the worst Yelp rated 5 star restaurant we have ever been to. My Dorado's tacos were worse than Jack In the Box's 2 for a $1.29 and Jack's were tastier. My wife's ceviche looked pretty good and probably was for a Ceviche lover. For her, it was just to strong. My brother-in-law got the soup and it was strong tasting and strange too. His wife made the best choice and just got a basic salad with shrimp. The salad was bland but the shrimp were tasty. Also, they servied no alcohol, no beer and no Margaritas. If you are looking for a good Mexican restaurant, you will probably not like this. The staff was kind but the food came out slow. This is NOT a 5 star Mexican restaurant...you can do better elsewhere. read more
