What can I say but you definitely need to stop by here! The owners and staff are so friendly and attentive to their customers it helps it feel as if you are eating with family (one you like). It has both indoor and outdoor seating and lots of food options to choose from. I initially reached out to the restaurant and requested that the owner contact me directly, as I would have preferred to provide feedback privately rather than leave a public review. Unfortunately, I never received a response. A colleague and I visited for dinner around 8:00 PM. The bar area was crowded and loud following the Music on the Green event, with many guests gathered to watch the NBA Finals. We requested a table in the dining room and were seated without issue. We ordered two cocktails to start, but neither was prepared to our liking. We politely sent them back, and the staff graciously replaced them. Approximately 30 minutes later, we ordered a second round. After about 15 minutes had passed without receiving the drinks, we asked another server to check on the status of the order. Moments later, our food arrived. When we inquired about the drinks, the server informed us that she would not be serving my colleague because he had "had too much." I was genuinely confused and explained that this was not the case. We had each ordered only one drink, and neither of us had been drinking prior. The server then pointed to my colleague's face and stated that he looked tired and therefore appeared to have had too much to drink. At that point, I asked for further clarification because the explanation made little sense to me. Neither of us was intoxicated, disruptive, or behaving in any way that would suggest impairment. The only response I received was, "I'm sorry, that's it." This was one of the most bizarre dining experiences I have ever encountered. I fully respect a restaurant's responsibility to refuse service when appropriate, but in this situation the decision appeared to be based entirely on an assumption about my colleague's appearance who naturally has narrower, squinted eyes, which is simply part of appearance. It was very unfortunate and an inaccurate assumption, as he was sober, and we're behaving appropriately. I left feeling embarrassed, confused, and incredibly disappointed. What should have been an enjoyable dinner turned into an uncomfortable experience with no meaningful explanation. Because of how this situation was handled, and the lack of response when I attempted to address it privately, I do not plan to return or support this business in the future. read more

Lupe's Diner is a small family owned restaurant where you can dine in or take out. This restaurant is in the heart of downtown Windsor. There is the town green next to it so it's great for walking around before or afterwards and checking out the shops. I got the fish tacos and they were amazing. The food is fresh and flavorful and we both loved our meals. The service is amazing and the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. I have heard that there margaritas are amazing, although I haven't tried them for myself yet. read more

Amazing food! Everything I've had (too many items to name) are delicious! I can't pick a favorite. Even simple items such as a quesadilla are to die for. Why? Because there is so much flavor! Not just from simple salt, but from the spices they use on their meats, beans, etc. the salsas are scrumptious but not spicy at all for me. Great food, and great service! :) It's a small family owned Mexican diner with an attached bar area. The space is small, but we came in ~16 deep and they took care of us like family! We ordered a chimichanga and a molcajete. I've had many a molcajete, ranging from good to mediocre, but this one was one of the better ones I've had the pleasure of partaking in! Scam alert!! Had dinner here with my family and was complaining to my husband about how expensive it was so when I got home I reviewed the menu and added up what our bill should have been and they charge us $17 more than what the menu prices were listed as!! The server didn't present us with a ticket just came over with the credit card scanner. And the kids cheese quesadilla was way over priced for such a small portion and the server never even offered my kid the drink it was supposed to come with. read more

The restaurant was clean and had a nice interior. The chili relleno was one of the best i've had in a long time. The margaritas were made well and were delicious (and strong!) Service was great from the beginning to the end. Very accommodating, very attentive, very personable. Great experience Ambiance was very relaxed. They had a couple TVs with the Warriors playing. They have the bar next door that accommodates patrons. We sat at a booth that needed cleaning. The waitress came over right away and cleaned with apologies. There was a large party WTH other customers and the mouse level remained average. I could hold a conversation with no problem. The menu had enough options to choose from. The prices are comparable to other similar restaurants. They are now serving menudo and Pozole. My husband chose Birria and was very happy. They serve beer, wine and cocktails. They have a long list of tequilas that are on the back. My Pineapple Passion was yum. It was part sweet with a slight kick of lime at the end of each swallow. It included fresh pieces of pineapple. I really enjoyed my taco salad because the shell wasn't the traditional shell. It was more salad ingredients than shell. I added some of their salsa as a dressing. We wrapped up our three night getaway here. No hard copy menus. Use your smart phone camera & QR the menu. Hubby had a problem. He went to his settings and disabled his WiFi which kept going to xFinity. Bingo. The menu popped up. Chips and salsa and tap water brought to the table. What to order? I still had fish tacos on the brain. I ordered it with black beans and rice as sides. Hubby got the taco salad with carne asada. Our food came quickly. I enjoyed my battered fish. I agree with a few other Yelp reviewers. Small portion sizes. Hubby's taco salad shell was small which meant holding less. Price point didn't match portion size. Giving this place one star due to finding hair in my to go order shrimp Super burrito. Called them probably 20 min after pick up to make them aware and they mentioned there would be a refund issued but it has been over a week and no refund. I don't want to reach back out for a refund because the money is not the point, I was hoping Lupe's would do right by their mistake. 45$ meal for 2 and what a waste. First, let me say this restaurant's current aggregate score of 3.5 stars (after 166 reviews) seems about perfect to me. If yelp allowed half stars, that is exactly what I would give. We ordered carry out from here, so I don't have anything to say about the interior or the service, other than that the food was ready on time and the process was smooth. We split their chipotle calamari which was, I think, the highlight. The combination of brightness from the orange, umami and salt from the soy sauce, the depth and sweetness from the honey, and the heat of the chilies made for a tasty, delicious glaze. The calamari were cooked well and the crispy breading held up for the short drive from restaurant to dinner table. It was an inventive dish, and something I would definitely get again (and may fry to recreate at home). I had a carnitas chimichanga--the carnitas were a little on the dry side and not super flavorful. The toppings (guacamole and sour cream) helped, but their salsa was also quite bland. My friend had a veggie burrito and said it was also a little disappointing. She also said the salsa had a more marinara-type flavor than she was expecting. They have an interesting menu, and perhaps we should have steered clear of the traditional Tex-mex fare. Visited Lupe's for outside dining after walking along the town green. We were there early enough for dinner that we chose our spot in the outdoor dining area. We had a choice of a paper menu or the code on our phone to read the menu. I have to say very slow service. We were not told of any specials (but then I didn't ask either, didn't expect to have to ask). Salsa and chips arrived well before our drinks which were a soda and water. Chips were good, salsa not so much. Two burritos were ordered and delivered after a wait. Then I had to wave over the waitress before she dashed back indoors to get refills on our drinks.
