We're glamping just north of Healdsburg near the Russian River. In fact, RIGHT ON the Russian River, at the Wildhaven Glamp Grounds. (I just invented a new word .....glamp, glamp) It's 01/01/2025. A brand new day. I mean it doesn't get any newer than Jan 1, old salt. So we didn't really come prepared for full on meat marinating and bbq'ing. And 80% of everything is closed. The fam is busy calling for anything that's open to score some dinner. The only person who answers only speaks Spanish, so they need to pass the phone to me. What's that, you're in Windsor? On Leadvelky Highway. Or some kinda highway or skyway. I'm just translating. Not driving or navigating. So we arrive at Martin's Taqueria . Being run. on this fine first day of the year.... NOT by Martin. No no. But by 2 very capable females. My kid (15 yr old) has a perfectly beautiful , not a spec of grease on it Ginormous Chimichanga. Eats every last bite. 20 yr old gets an enchilada. Don't know what the wife got. I was over at the super-friendly bodega type grocery store getting some honey crisp apples for after dinner. When I got back, my 2 tacos de lengua y 1 taco de pescado were waiting for me. My fam said be careful of the complimentary chips because the soup-looking salsa was kicking everyone's butt. I only had a couple of chips but the old-school salsa was on point. Finished every bite of my 3 tacos, bussed our dishes, chatted up Asusana, our waitress and super efficient clean up person, and thanked both her and the older woman whose name I will find out next time who undoubtedly made our perfectly prepared meal. I award 5 stars. It deserves 5 stars. I've been eating solid food since shortly after I reached one (1) year of age. That would be 70 years of practice I've had now. Eating food. Today we had hearty wonderful Birria! We ordered birria tacos too! The servings for our family came with hand made tortillas, the chopped up fixings of cilantro, onion and chilies in different forms. The broth was wonderful! The meat in this soup was wonderfully lean and cooked to a soft savory perfection! I've traveled all the way to Oakland for my fix of birria tacos but no longer because the tortillas themselves have won us over! Try this place, you won't be disappointed! When I want a good, get down, money in the bank kind of meal, I'll pre order my carne asada or pastor burrito or tacos from Martins. Good flavor, well portioned, balanced, and pretty good size. The green sauce is hella good you get chips too boot, and it is always ready when I arrive. You put one of them babies down, your set for a minute. Inside dining is plain, simple, nothing fancy, restroom for customers, eat and get on down the road. Service and food are all good. read more

The food was decent. I had the chicken, carnitas and asada tacos, and the proteins were tasty, but they don't tell you that they are "street tacos" which are a very different and smaller beast. My wife enjoyed her veggie burrito and it genuinely seemed good. Salsas had good flavor. The two stars comes from the fact that I went to the restroom while I was waiting and that there was no soap in the only restrooms they have for employees and patrons. Gross. Like literally disgusting. Not coming back here for that alone. Food service and prep sanitation is a HUGE thing for me (I probably wash my hands a couple of dozen times during each shift I work, and I sell food that still needs to be cooked, not food that's ready to eat as it is.) You don't mind some funk nasty sanitation, this is a decent place for Mexican food. If you do care about employees washing their hands with soap, maybe move along. read more

Shelter in place 2020- Martin's Taqueria put together an $18 family meal which includes a dozen tamales (pork, chicken or chili w/cheese), sour cream, pico and lettuce. Wow these were so good! We bought 3 dozen to share between 3 households. Everyone loved them! Pork was our favorite followed by chili w/cheese. Great job helping the community and cooking with love. You need to order at least one day in advance as they make all the tamales in the morning for that day. read more

My family and I have been loving Martins Taqueria since 2010. Always excellent and like grandmas home cooking. Weekends feature the Birria! It usually sells out by noon so order or go early. The hand made corn tortillas and salsas are excellent. It is authentic mainland Mexico (Michoacan) style ...Martin is from Cotija. We have never had a bad experience and eat there 2-3x a week. The simple bean and cheese burrito is excellent as it is made with Peruano (Peruvian) beans and tastes much better than Pintos in our opinion. Martin also has a market in the same location just a few doors down featuring just about anything you could want from a Mexican market other than Tequila or Mezcal. read more

Decent grub, very nice staff, small little place attached onto a market. The decor of the place is simple, just a seating area and a kitchen. This place is designed just to get your food for pickup or a quick bite. The salsa is a little runny but it has a nice kick to it. I feel that if they just gave it a little substance it'd be much better. The chips are covered with salt so don't add any to the salsa to try and bridge the gap. It's what I did which didn't work well for me so I just scraped off the salt off the chips due to not checking. I tried the vegetarian burrito which is one of the few places to have actual vegetables in it which was nice. The flavor of it was decent, the flavor it was cooked in worked well but made for a lot of liquid inside the burrito. By the end it had disintegrated and was difficult to eat. I can't knock it too much though. Options are limited. Honestly though if they had a nicer salsa I'd probably stop in again. read more

The corn tortillas here rock! I'm from So Cal but I was cooking dinner for the family in the area and needed corn tortillas for the meal. I purchased some tortillas from the local grocery store but it didn't cut it. A local family member made a stop at this taqueria for the corn tortillas. At first glance they look like flour tortillas bc of their color and size. Turns out they are just larger in size and the color is brighter because of their freshness. Only came here because Ana's next door is closed for vacation. There is a free taco for Yelp check in. The California burrito (new and not on menu) was excellent. Don't order the nachos, if you do you need to order extra cheese as apparently the chips don't come with cheese. When I drove back to ask for a new order to have it come with cheese i was told that would be extra. We had the BEST vegetarian burritos we've ever had in Sonoma County here! Most taquerias will just omit the meat for a regular burrito. At Martin's, for their vegetarian burrito they grill fresh vegetables (mushrooms, bell peppers and squash) which had incredible flavor! Combined with pinto beans, Mexican rice, guacamole and salsa, the whole thing was heavenly. Sadly I didn't get a picture because we inhaled them. As for ordering, we called ahead (10-15 minute wait) and they were waiting for us, along with chips and two kinds of salsas. We cannot wait to go back! read more

Sadly, while I would've liked to give a higher rating, I decided to give it 3.5 stars as we found a huge bone in our carnitas super burrito...since we were eating in the car/on the road, someone could have easily choked on it. Let me start by saying 3 orders ago this was my go to. I loved Martin's Taqueria and we would order at least 1-2x a week. But our last 3 times ordering. Have been hugely disappointing. The tacos that we got, the fish, pastor and carnitas were all over cooked. Martin's used to have the best pastor and fish tacos. I don't know what changed. But it's definitely something. Because the last few times the meat has been way too dry and over-cooked. So we decided to try just a plain and simple bean burrito tonight. Since previously they always made really good bean and rice burritos we figured "you can't over cook that"..... well, it wasn't over cooked. But it tasted like they just did a spoonful of beans and wrapped it in an oversized tortilla. Again, very disappointed. We asked that they add onions and tomatoes. They threw one slice of tomato in one burrito and the other was sans tomato. Sadly, it is time to move on from Martin's. In the area from WA for the Napa Valley Marathon. Super casual place ideal for us with an almost 2 year old. Folks are very friendly. Had Incredible plate-sized burritos filled with freshest ingredients. My daughter had chicken, her husband had beef (he said it was steak) and I had veggie. They all contained FRESH made guacamole. My son-in-law transferred to job in Silicon Valley 2 years ago and says these are the first excellent burritos he's had since he moved to CA. Had a chance to try the new carne "asuhdude" fries, and they were nothing short of amazing! The juicy carne asada was complemented perfectly by the texture and taste of the bed of cheesy seasoned fries beneath. A match made in heaven! The jalapenos and salsa, juxtaposed by the cool, creamy avocado, made for a delectable garnish that provided the perfect amount of kick. The service was quick and super friendly. I was very surprised based on what I've read from other people's experiences here. I had high hopes, to say the least. Then the food got here. We had it delivered (Uber eats). They forgot 2 of the tacos my wife ordered so I split my burrito with her. The carne asada was really tough, and was pretty hard to eat. My wife kept telling me how spicy she thought it was, and I thought one of us was having a stroke because my half was just salty. I ate my salty, leathery half and she gave up on hers at about the quarter mark. I was still hungry, so I took on the task of finishing the shoe...I mean, the burrito. I took my first bite, and apparently neither of us are crazy, because her half was very spicy. I liked it much better than my half of the same exact burrito that was not spicy at all. Everything tastes so fresh and so flavorful. And it was only $5.99! They also make this delicious red salsa. Must try!! If love to take a straw to it honestly. Can't wait to go back and try something new. I also noticed daily specials. They had a mojarra frita dish on special for $8.99!! This is a very good and very reasonable taqueria, tucked away in a tiny strip mall. Not the easiest place to find, we first walked into Martin's Grocery store and were directed to go around the corner to Martin's Taqueria. I'm glad we found it because the two super burritos we ordered, grilled chicken and al pastor were packed with fresh ingredients and a bargain. Not a huge menu but enough to keep us coming back and trying out other things. Very friendly person working the counter and the food came out quickly.
