Big portions, bold flavors, and a sizzling molcajete that definitely grabs your attention. I first came across Taqueria Molcajetes on Instagram and decided to check it out with BB and Des. From the outside the place looks pretty small, but there's plenty of parking since it's located in the Safeway lot. Once the food started coming out, it was clear this spot is all about generous portions. We started with the carne asada sopes, which were huge and piled high with lettuce, guacamole, and plenty of meat. Definitely filling and very flavorful. I ordered the bistec ranchero, served with rice and beans. The beef was tender and well seasoned, making it a really solid plate. Des ordered the Molcajete Mixto, which arrived sizzling with chicken and beef fajita, shrimp, chorizo, onion, cactus, fresh cheese, and a grilled serrano pepper. The presentation was great and it was still sizzling even when we were boxing it up. For drinks we tried the pineapple agua fresca and horchata. Both had good flavor, although they were a little heavy on the pulp. There were a couple small things that stood out. The salsa bar isn't labeled, so it's a bit of a guessing game. The bathroom was clean, but seeing shrimp tails on the floor was a bit of a turn-off. Service during our visit also felt a little lacking. Overall the flavor and portion sizes really stood out here. Despite a few small issues, it's still a spot I'd come back to.

So good! This time we came back with more people ready to eat (and still had leftovers!). We ordered two molcajetes: mixto y carne. The margaritas are served in a small mason jar. The jamaica is good. Couldn't taste any alcohol though, just tasted like agua de jamaica. + Wish the al pastor was a bit juicer for the tacos. The location has plenty of parking and the staff is great!!

We had a great experience at Taqueria Molcajetes! They were busy when we walked it, but yet so welcoming! They got us sat right away and took our order. Their dishes are very generous in size, and they give you 3 cups to fill as the salsa bar. I got the taco salad with carnitas. The Carnitas was crispy & one of the best I've ever had! Zero fat to be had! The shell was cripsy and tasty! My husband got the asada fajitas as a fun treat. The portions were large, with many tortillas. My son got the chicken taco with rice and beans, kids platter and enjoyed it as well. Will definitely be returning.

The closest Al pastor tacos outside of Mexico City that you will get around here. Small street sized Al pastor tacos, good flavors, plenty of sauces if you want to kick up the spice. The chicken tacos were overly salty but come here for the Al Pastor!!

This might have to be my new favorite Mexican restaurant in town! We have been here a few times and we always leave happy!! Tonight they had live music. They had a guy singing and playing the guitar. Once you are seated you are greeted with menus and tortilla chips. They have sauce containers for you and you fill your own salsa at the salsa bar. Chips are good. Hearty crunch with good flavor. We love their Molcajetes carne. It comes with Grilled chicken, beef, al pastor, chorizo, onion, cactus, fresh cheese and grilled serrano pepper. When they bring it out to you it's bubbling and sizzling in a hot stone cauldron of yumminess. The smell of all the meats and sauce immediate makes you excited to dive in. The dish also comes with the standard rice, beans, lettuce, sour cream, and tortillas. Their tortilla are so good! They taste homemade! They have a good thickness to it with a good flavor. All the meats were chef kiss! The chicken and chorizo were my favorites. Chicken was very tender and chorizo was the right flavor and not spicy. Since it's served on a hot stone bowl you get the occasional crispy bits of meat which is nice texturally. Idk what they put in the sauce but it's very complementary to all the meats, tieing everything together very well. Prices are reasonable for the portion size, I think it was $34. This could feed 2-3 people. We also ordered the fajitas mixta. It came with chicken, beef, shrimp, onions, and peppers. Fajitas were ok. The molcajete has way more flavor. Brownie points for having a high chair! If thinking of the molcajete alone, I give this a 5/5!

My husband and I have been here multiple times and it's always a hit. I was pleased at our visit yesterday to see that they've gone back to traditional table service rather than having us order at the counter. I ordered their torta with al pastor (theirs is seriously one of the best I've ever had) and my husband had two tacos al pastor. My torta was absolutely amazing, the bread was soooo soft. I loved the grilled jalapeño strips they add. My husband's tacos were perfect as always. He was stoked that they gave him some grilled onions and a whole jalapeño. Their salsas are all really good too. I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for some of the best Mexican food around!!

Our family of 2 adults and 1 child (age 8) enjoyed the following: 1) Chicken mole enchiladas- excellent 2) Pork tamales- good, though I found some of the meat too fatty 3) Chips & guacamole- the house made chips were a bit too thick for us; the guacamole was tasty 4) Kids cheese quesadilla - we appreciated the fact they had a $5 kids cheese quesadilla on the menu 5) Soft serve - Delicious The set up is such that you order and pay up front, then sit out back and wait for your order to be delivered to your picnic table. The staff was cordial and the wait wasn't too bad. Our only challenge here was that our SF born and raised kiddo was struggling to eat in the 88 degree heat outdoors. Just be aware that there is no indoor, air-conditioned seating available. Overall, we enjoyed our meal here!

My wife And I are a sucker for a good fish taco. $19 for two tacos sounds a little rough. Possibly…read moretourist tax. I appreciate the size and I love a homemade tortilla. I felt it had all the components to be successful. I liked the texture of the batter. It also wasn't plain so that was nice. Good ingredients and flavors for sure. What came up short was the ratio of batter to fish. Way too much batter for the amount of fish. Also it was totally the wrong fish for the batter. Way too soft. I don't know how you eat these in the restaurant but they are a mess. If I'm paying almost twenty bucks for fish tacos. I think I might expect slightly more elegance. Menu did look very interesting. I could see coming back but the fish tacos are a pass
