Would not recommend coming here at all. Definition of a chop shop. Left with nails completely ruined! I came in to have my polygel removed and for a manicure. I repeated several times that it was polygel but I guess they don't know what that is? They said they would be able to complete my service, however my beautiful nails were butchered. I asked for my nails to be reshaped to almond from square after the removal of my polygel several times. I didn't have time to go to my regular shop and this just so happened to be close to where I was shopping. By the time they were done my natural nails were paper thin and splitting and the guy was asking me what I wanted to do with them because their condition was so poor. I have never experienced anything like this before. I've had slight over-drilling at a few shops but my nails beds were red and feeling raw by the end of this appointment. They still hurt to the touch weeks later! Buddy was looking around half the time while drilling my polygel off and skipped on my skin. When it would start burning I would pull back or say something and he would just keep going in the same manner. Never again! When I left the shape of my nails were all uneven and absolutely not almond shaped. He did ask if everything was okay but at that point I just didn't want it to go more south so I just said yes and left. I can never come back to this place. They may be okay for a simple polish job but I wouldn't trust them with anything else. It has been a few weeks and my nails are still paper thin and raw. I had to try my best to fix the shape myself. Hopefully in a few months when the whole basin grows out, I'll be able to go to my regular place again. read more

This is the second time I been here and I think they are pretty good for the price I paid. I mean the guys that work there? Are very rude and not friendly at all. You can smile but they have a straight face. It might be a cultural thing. Anywho, I got my full set done the first time and it was $25 for a set and $5 extra for the shape. And designs? It's like $3 per nail. Pedicures are $25 for the basic and $30 for deluxe. Not bad! I haven't got my feet done but that's a great deal and there is many people that come here to get it done. Today? I got my first fill. Never had a fill in my life before so he said I had a broken nail and they charge $5 for a broken nail. Just a heads up lol everything is adding up now. Just kidding! I've been here three times, my experience with the female nail techs were pleasant. I loved how creative they were with their designs (see the picture with the orange design). The first time I got a gel polish over my nails. After about two weeks my nails broke, and I ended up getting an acrylic set while out of town. After a month I returned for a fill in (11/21) which is when I got the white set you are in the pictures. One of the nails popped off on 12/9 another on 12/10 and the last on 12/12. I returned to the establishment today 12/14 to get them done again. This time I spoke to the only male that works in the establishment. When I showed him my nails, and told him that they are coming up and breaking off from the bottom. I told him that I can't comb my hair without it getting stuck in my nails. I asked him if he can fix it to where this wouldn't be a problem. He told me that I'm the reason why my acrylic separated from my nails. He insinuated that I didn't get my nails done their previously. I told him that out of 25 years of me getting my nails done I've never had this happen with an acrylic set. I also had an issue that he was trying to charge me more than I've ever paid coming there. He told me he could fix them. I asked him if they were to have the same problem, would he be able to fix it, he told me sure if I pay for it again. (That didn't set well with me). I was not yelling or irate. So still trying to patronize the establishment...and believing that he would be able to fix the problem I sat down for him to do my nails. I told him my husband and I were supposed to come tomorrow for a pedicure. I told him that if I have the same issue that I came in with, that I would not be coming back. He told me "you don't have to worry about that because I'm not doing anything you can get up and just leave now". I was caught off guard when he said that, and asked him what did he say... and he repeated it again. I put on my coat and left and told him that he's going to lose a lot off money... and his reply is "I don't want your money". I have never in my life been disrespected like that before, especially when a company has the authority to right a wrong. It's unfortunate because the ladies that I've worked with previously were very pleasant, although there were issues with my nails in the end, I still went back because of the women's professional demeanor. I will never patronize an establishment that has disrespected me the way he had. I also wonder ....if I wasn't black would he have handled the situation the same way? Was it because I am black that he felt the need to tell me he doesn't want my money? It was a blessing in disguise... I ended up going to another establishment not too far away (Tati Nails) where I had a wonderful experience! Before Mai, my nail tech was Lan who was great! Unfortunately, she has moved on to another nail salon. I ended up making an appointment with Mai. She is awesome! Love, Love, Love Mai. This review is long overdue. Mai provides excellent customer service and always has a smile. I had a gel manicure and pedicure. She even painted a beautiful flower design. Now, I always want a design every time. The pedicure was relaxing and the shape of my nails looks great. She made sure I was comfortable and happy with her work, which is wonderful customer service. I came here for an underarm wax last week on 12/19/2022 for the first time. I waited 10 minutes, then was guided to a small room in the back left corner for the wax. The woman did not seem friendly or greet me at all. She proceeded to apply baby powder on my under arm area, then applied the hot wax. She kept re-dipping the same tongue depressor in the hot wax the entire time even though my skin was bleeding. She was also using the same strip to remove the wax over and over again even though it was filled with hair. I was very concerned for hygiene, and noticed small hairs in the melted wax machine, wondering if they are mine or someone else's. After the wax was done, she tweezed the hair and applied ample hand sanitizer or alcohol to my underarm area and it burned. I am not sure if the tweezers were cleaned in between customers as well. I left there with 10 to 15 hairs still intact in each under arm area. I will never recommend this place, and I am surprised I did not catch a skin infection from there. read more

When she began the design she could not create what was asked for. The manager proceeded to come over and question what was going on. He had a very bad attitude and began to raise his voice. The nail tech was also very frustrated and super unprofessional. I began to tell the manager how I thought it was unfair that the tech said she could give me the design that I asked for, when in reality she was not able to. The manager then proceeded to tell me that there's no way for the tech to know whether or not they can accomplish the desired design until they try. Which is extremely frustrating and totally doesn't make any sense... because they were providing a service. The tech should've mentioned to me that she didn't think this was something she was able to achieve that way we could've worked something out. I was in the salon for more than two hours. Got a pedicure and it was horrible. My cuticles were rough, the nail job itself didn't cover my toes- either Sang doesn't know how to polish or the nail polish was old. Went back to have them redone after complaining and Diane was rude as ever. I asked if they had a new bottle of my color, she got offended, started to be extra rough. I came here because I had a gift certificate but will never return. The lady who did my nails was so rough. She kept stabbing me with her nails while massaging my hands, and made me fingers blood when trimming the dead skin, not to mention jabbing my cuticles VERY hard. I had messed up one of my nails when drying before the clear coat (honest mistake) and assumed she would fix it when she did the clear coat but I saw her ignore it pretending she did not see it. Aside from the bad manicure, there was very little selections of colors... I was only looking for a pale pink but was disappointed. I asked the owner to fix the mistake they made on my toes and he told me that he'll fix them the next day. I'm new to writing reviews and trying to get better about remembering to write them! I went here a few weeks ago and had a pretty good experience. I consider myself a nail snob and will not return to a place that is: dirty, unprofessional, or does a bad job on my nails. I've been to multiple nail salons around the area and was pleased to see how clean Phanxi was when I went in (trust me, I've seen some dirty places with dust and skin shavings all over the floor). I can't remember the name of the lady who did my nails, but she was really nice. I'm not usually a chatter when I get my nails done, but I enjoyed talking with her about her sons and other stuff. I always get a Shellac manicure and was surprised by the large choice of colors to select from. The price was also very reasonable compared to other places I've been. I selected a color I had never used before and when she began putting it on I didn't really like it. She was able to go over it with a darker color, but I probably wouldn't do that again. The gel lasted almost the full 2 weeks. Overall I would go back and give the Phanxi another try. read more

Very sorry to give a bad review but I don't want anyone else to suffer what I did. A very lovely woman did a mostly excellent job on my pedicure. However, she applied a green paste to my heels to remove the calluses. I was so desperate to relax that I ignored the slight burning sensation. I ended up with chemical burns on my heels. It took three months before I could wear closed shoes. And all I got from the manager was a gift certificate that I will never use. read more

WARNING: Long story ahead, if you don't feel like reading I wrote a summary at the bottom. Now, on to the story. I used to go to Phanxi a while back and I've always had a good experience, maybe they changed management since the last time I was here I don't know. Anyways, Phoenix had a 30 minute wait today and I was trying to get a pedicure before I went to work so I decided to go here. As soon as I come in a nail tech asks me what I want, I tell him to give me a minute so I can decide. I know I want a pedicure, but they had so many different options it was hard to choose. Then, my soon to be nail tech (forgot his name), comes up to me asking me what I want repeatedly and offering a bunch of things. Maybe he was trying to be nice, idk but I felt pressure and bombarded, should have been my first sign. So i decide on a hot stone pedicure and he takes me back to the pedicure station, the chair was broken and would not recline, I was upset but chose not to speak on it because I was on a time limit. Now it was very clear that this man had never done this type of pedicure before, because every few steps he would stop and ask another tech what to do. So we get to the cuticle cutting, this man cuts so close to the cuticle I literally have to jerk my foot and say "hey that hurts". He apologizes and keeps going. Then he uses the cheese grater thing to remove dead skin. At first I am happy that he worked so hard to remove my dead skin, I expected soft and beautiful feet, except now here I am sitting at 11pm at night (just off work) and you can see slits of dead skin going across my feet. Also, since my seat does not recline, he is bending my feet in legs in all kinds of crazy and uncomfortable directions. Next we go to filing, he doesn't ask what shape, just immediately files into a rounded shape. Now to the two big kickers. 1) He asks me if I have a boyfriend and where he is. Now I don't know if this is normal of other nail salons, but I've been getting my nails done for a while and never have been asked that question. I thought it was very inappropriate. 2) He cross contaminates the scrub jars. He couldn't find a spoon for the orange scrub he was using, so he takes a spoon from a green scrub, RINSES IT OFF IN MY TUB, (all while looking me in the eye) and then proceeds to use it in the orange scrub. Finally, we get to the hot stone part, which lasted maybe 10 minutes and was not as relaxing as I would have liked it to be. At this point I am ready to go. So he paints my nails, and I leave. Now I know what you all are saying, I should have complained. You are absolutely right. However, I wasn't in the mood to make a scene, I had to go to work and just wanted a quick pampering session before I got there. I must say that even though I had a terrible nail tech, the pampering process involved many massages, masks, scrubs, paraffin dip and oil (Hence the one star) which is a steal for $55. With the right nail tech, this would be the PERFECT experience. But now that I am sitting at home and have had a change to look at my feet, I had to warn others. My paint job is terrible! there are lumps and streaks that I did not notice before, plus my gratered up feet. A complete waste of $55. In case you don't want to read all of this. Pushy newbie nail tech gratered my feet, chopped my cuticle, almost broke my ankle, did a terrible paint job, cross contaminated supplies and hit on me all over the course of an hour. My initial experience was nice as I only went for eye brow threading. Unfortunately my second experience was unpleasant. While the nail tech was pleasant and conversational, I found that my nails began to chip upon the first day after my acrylic full set install. I went back and one of the nail techs simply used an Emory board for the sides of my nails and used a cotton swab dabbed in alcohol to wipe my nails. Essentially nothing was fixed. I tried PHANXI NAILS three times before feeling compelled to write this review. The first visit was great, loved the service I received. The price was decent. The second visit was okay, price was much higher for services received...not sure why. The mani/pedi wasn't as good as the first visit. Third and LAST visit just this week was horrible. The mani/pedi wasn't even close to being a thorough service. The woman who did my nails spoke to openly and the cost was even more this time. I came here to get an acrylic set. For the most part, the staff was nice except for the one lady that happened to be doing my nails. She was rude and terse. I'm underage, so maybe it's because I'm a teenager and not an adult. I guess I can understand that. They have a small selection of colors. When I found a color I liked, it was old and sticky, which I didn't find out until I was getting my nails done. The process of putting on the fake nails was messy, glue kept getting stuck to my fingers as she forcefully moved me because of some mistakes she had made. I was mostly quiet the whole time, I'm pretty shy when it comes to things like this. I try to be respectful because I understand the hard work that service work is. However I wasn't treated with the same respect. My nails were crooked, and it very circular although I had requested square. They were thick and uneven. I was told by another customer that another lady wouldn't have done that to my nails, or me, because she witnessed the way I was treated. This customer gave me the courage to ask to get the uglier hand redone. Amidst my requests, the hand wasn't up to par. If I could give this place a minus 5 I would. I came here a few times when they first opened and liked the overall atmosphere but stopped due to the over charging and a few other things. Anyhow I decided to return against my better judgement based off other reviews but thought hey why not. Everyone deserves a second chance. So return I did but ONLY for lashes which were $30. SO the first time SUE did my lashes she was ever so kind and friendly, my lashes were natural looking but also seemed a bit amateurish compared to the other lady that used to mine, but they did last 3 weeks surprisingly. SO I returned but took off my lashes on my own. The second time, she was again so friendly and nice and asked for me to send more people to her. Which I agreed because she was just the friendliest person. This time my lashes ONLY lasted 2 weeks barely before they started itching like crazy and the glue began to ball up by my lid. Mind you I have been wearing lashes for a good while, so I do know how to care for them from what not to do, to what I can do. Anyhow I returned again, made an appointment for 7. A few minutes before 7 she called me to tell me to come at 8 that she is running behind. I had already been waiting. SO I wait because I have an engagement that night and needed them done. long story short I didn't start my lashes till quarter to 9. There was a woman prior to me who wasn't 100% pleased with her lashes either but Sue kept reassuring her that the white stuff around her lashes will be gone by morning. That should have been a sign to leave but no I was press. So anyhow she did my lashes and a few days later they started lifting. Not a good sign. I didn't get a chance to return to the shop when it first started lifting but i did return exactly one week after she had done the work. When I returned the nice friendly Sue become a rude disrespectful Sue when I told her my lashes were falling off and didn't last like the other times. She just brushed me off and walked away with not a care in the world. Even the other customers were taken aback by her behavior towards me, even one asked Sue to just fix my lash and she refused. What really irked my nerves was when she said 'If you don't like, don't come back, find someone else, I no do' Who says that to a paying customer?? SMH And she is right I WILL NEVER step foot in that establishment again. And to imagine that she is the shop manager. What a shame :( read more

I was a customer for over a year here and I never had a bad experience. I'm usually easy breezy let anyone do my nails here even though I had two favorites that I would have do my nails. But if they were busy I'd let whoever is free do my nails. Everyone in the shop is very skilled. However this one time I let this new girl do my fill-in and one day later I broke two nails. I came back and the owners were very nasty towards me. The male owner re-did my nails but he was far interested in watching his soccer game. He was very aggressive with my hand. He did not even bother to even help me select the right shade of polish to match either. I decided to give them another chance today three months later. A few weeks ago I was in the Gaithersburg area and it was raining and did not want to get onto 270 during rush hour traffic especially in the rain, so I decided to go to Ross and look around and I noticed that there was a nail saloon next door, so I decided to visit them. When I walked in I was greeted by a very friendly women whom let me know there was going to be a wait but to pick a color and someone would be with me as soon as possible. I was in need of a full set so pick a pink and white ombre combination, they had many designs and colors to choose from. I waited for about 15-20 minutes and I told the person that helped me I wanted to get a pedicure as well. The lady took me back to the pedicure chairs and an nice older women begin to do my pedicure first. She was kind and with limited English she was able to speak she tried her best to give me good customer service. After she was done with my pedicure the nail technician did my nails as I asked I changed the design 3 times and was very happy with the end result. I will come back here again the prices are great and the customer service was good also. I need to go back and get a fill in done but my nails have lasted for over two weeks and I get compliments on them even now.... read more

Let's just say I can see why this place has the rating it does. I came in this morning right when they opened because I had things to and places to be and they were close to where I was. I came in said good morning and the owner (who did my eyebrows one time I came in here back in high school) saw me and continued whatever he was saying to his employees. I understand y'all are opening and memos need to be given but if a PAYING CUSTOMER comes in to your establishment, change your attitude, and say hello! They were still opening/cleaning up and weren't completely ready, but when you are one of the only shops around that are open at 10 on a Sunday, please just be ready, cause people like me will be coming in. Anyway he proceeds to ask what services I am coming in for and I say eyebrow THREADING (which I know they offer here) and a pedicure. He says "ok. *pause* but eyebrow wax" I say that's fine but if the person who does the threading wasn't in today or whatever the case was why couldn't he just say that? Wax is not what I asked for but because of what I stated earlier I took it because I love wax just as much, just not what I wanted this week. This is how you know these places are too money hungry. Anyways, the lady who did my eyebrows was nice, and did an okay job. Then she takes me to my pedicure chair, I assumed she'd be doing my toes, but nope. The water was cold, then she showed my color options and I got a pink. She then goes to a nail station and gets on her phone and I sat there waiting for her or someone to come back. This man comes and fixes the water up for me and gets started. He took very good care of my feet and they look and feel good so far. The reason why I say it's obvious as to why they have their rating is based on their customer service skills, they ARE lacking, big time. But the quality of the service I got was pretty good.
