I just moved here and have been looking for a new nail place. I've tried a couple, and I fell in love with one, only for the nail tech I loved there to move to Texas after 2 appointments.‍ For the review: I'll start with the fact that the guy who appears to be the owner is absolutely lovely. I called to inquire about aura nails; I never do designs but my birthday is in a few days and I wanted a little extra something to feel fabulous. It's been an absolutely insane week and I rescheduled here twice. He was very accommodating and kind about my scheduling needs. Now, the less positive part: ***please note that I am only doing this review for the folks like me who take reviews really seriously and are particular about beauty-related things, specifically, in this case, nails. I have no desire to trash this place, because then were nice.*** That said, I was told that they could do the nails I wanted and I was excited based on the photos in their Yelp page. I felt really confident that they could do something I would absolutely love, specifically because their Yelp page says they do nail art and design, and whenever a salon does nail art and design, their basic nail techniques and everything else are typically great. Unfortunately that is not the experience I had today. I got an incredibly mid pedicure that actually looks 2 weeks old as I'm walking out of the salon right now. (Before leaving I told them that I did not like it, but it was late and I had to go and I could tell they were tired, which I didn't think would help my issue.) On my way out the gentleman who did my manicure (he only did my hands, not feet) told me to come back the next day to have it redone. The problem is that I don't think I have time to go back tomorrow, and frankly, I shouldn't have to. I'm sorely disappointed in a $70 pedicure looking like I did it myself. My other major issue is the color selection. I know not everybody is as maniacal about color as I am, so eat the fish and spit out the bones here. If you are pretty routine or have a basic range of colors that you're willing to try, you probably will not have an issue. I, however, am a brand designer/graphic designer and happen to be very color-sensitive. I always go to nail salons that have robust color selections because my eye can spot a vast difference between two pinks that might be right next to each other on the display. Not every color looks good on everyone's skintone, and I like what I like. It was SO challenging to find a color here that I liked and honestly I was just looking for a pink from a Pinterest photo. The sample nails that they gave me to choose from were inside of a plastic container, which 1. Dulled the color 2. Put the nails under a glare from the lights so you couldn't really see them The colors also just weren't great. It felt like a very old-fashioned selection of dip colors. When I actually did choose a color (one I only liked a little) and she went to put it on my feet, it turned out to be a COMPLETELY different color, and I'm talking maybe 20 shades different than the color that I chose and a totally different undertone. I didn't want to belabor the point because she had another customer she was rushing to try to get to that seemed to be a regular customer of hers and I didn't want to take up more of her time. But I'm really disappointed because I came here with a vision, wanting something very specific and I left with a manicure and a pedicure I wish I just had not even gotten. Honestly, my nails looked way better when I came in than when I left, which is saying a lot because both my hands and feet were nearly 3 weeks old. The only reason I didn't go back to who did them was because i was seeking nail design, and I ended up leaving with no nail design at all anyway! I feel like I flushed $140 down the drain, especially bc I will have to have this all fixed. In summary, lots of people seem to love this salon, so although I really had a two-star experience, I gave them three, because I truly think this is a matter of just not being a fit for me. Every place isn't for everyone. If you're pretty easy like Sunday morning with your nails, you should likely just ignore this. But if you are also particular about your nails like me, let this be a forewarning that this may not be the experience you're seeking. Stay beautiful, guys. read more

I called to see if they had availability and they said yes so we came in. They were extremely rushed with my hands and she mixed alcohol with lotion and mixed it into my hands. The service was terrible they were extremely rushed and moved on to someone else when my nails were messed up. My cuticles were even bleeding. The ambiance is poor outside and inside is okay. She left my hands extremely dry and drier than I came in. I had to call her back to fix it and she was very mad and rushed and instead of fixing it she just overlapped her mistakes with even more nail polish now it just looks patched. the pedicure was horrible as well. My hands have never been this dry. for the other, the pedicure and manicure was HORRIBBLLEEE. Do NOT get it done here. The nail polishes were super dry and the colors were awful. they were charging me for things I didn't even get then they were arguing with me because I refused to pay for services they didn't do nor did I ask for. when I asked her to remove the nail polish because it wasn't what I asked for and it was really bad she got really bad and did it very harsh on my hands. She got a file and buffer and harshly scraped it on my nails and hands and left my nails extremely dry and scratched. She was charging me for things I didn't even get. They were all super mean and argued with us. Now we have to go to ANOTHER nail salon to fix this. It's in a small shopping center tucked away on Rollins Ave. This is rare in the area. I was promptly greeted. The nail tech took her time and was focused. She did not engage in any conversation. It took about 40 min. I appreciated the other technicians who had there regulars talk to them than to each other. My technician provided a nice feet massage at the end. When I rolled down my pant leg from my calves, they were wet. I knew I would feel uncomfortable because it was cold outside. I mentioned it to my niece. I am so so so so pleased and impressed with my appointment today! I'm not from the area but learned about Kevin and Jolene from other yelp reviews. I made a call a few hours before my desired time to see if either were available to do gel x and Kevin would be. Throughout the entire appointment I felt extremely relaxed and comfortable, didn't even feel like putting my headphones in to listen to music or watch a show. Let me start off by saying my nail tech was on vacation and I needed a temporary salon to do my nails. My experience at this nail salon was the worst I've ever had, and I couldn't help but feel that, as a Black woman. From the moment I sat down, I noticed a trash can overflowing with garbage placed directly next to the client chair--completely unprofessional. Basic courtesies like offering a drink or a proper place for my belongings were ignored. The nail tech, Jolene, was rude and unaccommodating throughout the appointment. She didn't ask about my preferences, such as nail length or shape, and when I expressed my preferences, she responded with visible annoyance. Despite being polite and asking reasonable questions about the color and shaping process, I was met with huffing, eye rolls, and unhelpful responses. When I selected a color based on their swatches, the result was completely different from what I expected. Instead of addressing my concerns professionally, she made me feel uncomfortable and acted as if my input was an inconvenience. Even small things, like asking clients to wash their hands, were done carelessly--she didn't specify whether to use soap or not, which is crucial in nail care. She also did not care about the health of my nails. The nail shape was not what I wanted, and the overall experience was dreadful. I left feeling disrespected and unwelcome. As someone with a background in nails, I recognize the importance of customer service, and this was a ZERO out of ten. Additionally, this salon is overpriced for the lackluster service they provide. For example, they charge $5 to apply two tips and $15 extra for a French manicure. I can tell the nails that had a tip added, just to show you the lackluster job that was done. I'm glad I didn't opt for the French manicure, as it surely would've made the experience worse. While her work on social media may look good, don't be fooled--it doesn't reflect her professionalism or character. If you're considering booking with Jolene or this salon, I urge you to think twice. My commute, time, and money were completely wasted, and I will never return. I got my nails done 30 minutes ago and I am writing a review- that's how bad the whole experience truly was! My manicurist TINA moved over to work at this nail salon during the pandemic in 2021. NOTE: This nail salon was turned over to new owners last year. So older reviews and names are related to previous owner since I noticed another Tina (not the same person) used to work here. I basically followed TINA for her professional service. I'm very picky about the cleanliness and care from the manicurist even prior to the pandemic. TINA has always taken the time and pride in her work which earned my trust and loyalty. It was my first time getting GelX, so be aware that it takes a bit longer to do than your standard dip powder or gel polish.. but it is well worth it! My daughter asked if we could have a mommy and daughter nail day. After going to 4 other salons we finally found one that could take us both for a side by side experience. It was a very good experience they did an amazing job working with an 8 year old little girl who's extremely ticklish. The nail technicians do excellent work and are well trained in all kinds of nail procedures. I am a "regular" client of Maika's and, of course, would highly recommend her work. I don't get my nails done often, and when I asked about certain things she chuckled before responding. She slammed the box of nail tips because I said I didn't like the length of them and I assumed they would have different lengths. I asked for a certain thing before I came in and if I needed an appointment, to which they said it was fine. But when I got there she persuaded me to choose something else so she wouldn't have to do the style that takes more of her time. She didn't say anything nice until she was finished but probably an attempt secure her tip. The whole experience is usually the opposite of what I get at my regular nail salon and it reinforced the idea I'll never find a good alternative. On top of that I paid 90ish dollars for a very basic French. Again, if I had gone to my go to nail salon in VA I would have paid 75 or less for SNS + tips + more intricate design. I shouldn't have trusted the good yelp reviews. The nails themselves were nice. But I can't get over the passive aggressive attitude. I made the mistake of coming here after looking for nail places near by... the first time I came they had the girl at the front who did my nails who was clearly still learning and could not make a bead with the acrylic and my nails came out too thick but not bad enough for me not to return. (anna) who I greeted very politely she did not say anything. she shook her head the whole time she filed and removed my nails... someone else then came and told me to sit in the seat next to her so she could take another client . When this client came she was cheerful and soo polite and happy but when I spoke nothing. I'm 100% this place is BIASED, RACIST, and DISCRIMINATORY. they proceed to have 2 different people work on my nails.. and they still came out horrible .
