This was my first time here. I was surprised how large it was. They have a decent menu for a bar. I ordered the taco salad. It's was bigger than expected and really filling. You can share it between two people. I didn't know you had to order your food at the bar and not at the pick-up counter. I liked the fact they gave you a pager so you knew when to pick up your food. The place seems pretty chill. It did get noisy once it's gets busy or the music is turned up. It was a decent spot to hang out with friends and grabs some food and drinks. read more

I walked in with only 7 dollars in cash and ordered a beer for 6.50 and the lady bartender gave it to me for 7.00. But I drank my beer and then asked for another beer that was more expensive and this piece of garbage bartender told me that she had to collect payment because I walked in with 7 dollars cash. She thought that I was some sort of homeless person that came in with my panhandling money. Until I flashed my bank account her and she looked stupid as phuck. The bald bartender should retire because he's a grouch. Bartenders are supposed to keep the mood up and make you want to come back. This guy is clearly sick of his job and wants to bring down everyone else around him. We came to this cool divey karaoke bar to have a good time and he made sure to bring the mood all the way down. Everyone in the bar was extremely nice and loved my group. Bar tender that was bald and wearing a duck shirt was extremely rude. He wrote a rude note on a peace of paper and provided to a friend in the group. When confronted he claimed it was just a joke. Felt extremely racist and unacceptable. We were enjoying the time at Phat Chads while trying to watch the playoffs but for some reason they decided to only play the Kings games. Now that the Kings have lost they refuse to play any other playoff games. So disrespectful. They claim to be a sports bar but on weeknights during the playoffs they refuse to play any other games. I recommend NOT going there! Brian is always a bummer. Never actually trying to provide service and makes excuses for how he can't help accommodate sports fans unless it's a Kings game. read more

Phat Chad's has been around the dive bar market for awhile. Billiards, darts, beer, its what most locals go to Phat's for. Phat's has always been that fun neighborhood joint, where cheap beer, and good times would always be had. Chad moved into the old Referee's location, so that he could bring food to the people. Great idea. Feed them, and they will stay longer. Brilliant business move. Besides the old location was small, and made it difficult for billiard and dart tournament folk to not feel like sardines. I was looking forward to checking out the new location. Chad moved in about a month ago, and even with a seasoned business owner, there will always be challenges. Friends had told me that the food was good, and I would enjoy it. Im always up for a good dive bar! i had no idea that dive would be bad. I get that things are being renovated inside, but opening up with less than basic bar items, is a turn off. Basically, its a few table tops, and stools. Im not expecting linen, but I am expecting at least clean, and non-sticky. I love that the American Flag hangs on the wall. Thanks, Chad. I love the patriotism. Toss some pictures on the wall so that the place looks better. The lack of wall bar stuff isn't my "beef", its the food, and the service. The service doesnt really exist. You order your food at the bar. Great, if you can get the overworked bartenders attention. Meal service took what felt like eons, and after it arrived, I wish that it hadn't. We ordered Mac & Cheese with brisket. Sounds good, doesnt it? Im not sure what surprised me more, the presentation, or just how bad it tasted. The mac & cheese was served in a mini iron skillet. Cuteness. The dollop of brisket on top, looked like something bad out of a can. The garnish of pickles was odd, and tasted bad. Trying to overlook the presentation, I went in for a bite. Im pretty sure that I havent ever had mac & cheese that was THAT bad. Im not sure what to call it. Besides tasteless, it was watery, and even the pasta by itself lacked flavor. Then the burger. We ordered tater tots as the side, and I was also surprised by the burnt nuggets that appeared on the serving tray. Im a pretty adventurous, and opted to try the tots. Just say no. They were definitely burnt, and the ranch type sauce served with them, was a watered down version of dressing. No flavor, as opposed to the tots. Burnt and spicy. I decided to dig into the burger. First off, for the price, both food items are way overpriced. For the quality, WAY over priced. The burger. where to even begin. The bun was cold and hard, and tasted like it was pulled from the freezer. The burger was only partially warm at best, lacked flavored, as well as, the additional ingredients ordered on it. Because table service is nonexistent, we had to go hang out near the kitchen to let someone know what was going on with the food. The waitress finally ran by, and said that the cook would be by to chat with us. Alrighty then. So we waited, and waited. Because this is a bar, they had our credit card, so we were forced to wait. 15 mins later the cook came by the table, and asked what was wrong with the food. I patently tried to explain just how bad I thought it was. When we were talking about the tots, he said he knew that they were bad. Hrmmm... why serve them then? You're killing off food business. When we talked about the burger, he was surprised that we didnt like it. It was like telling a child that the picture that was drawn wasn't pretty. Then the mac & cheese. It appeared to be his signature dish. I personally wouldn't advertise that. Its close to the worst food that I have ever had. Bars tend to have decent to good food. This, not even close. You cant taste a picture. Chad is a great guy, and Im hoping that he finds a new cook, and is able to make this new location a fun place to hang. read more

Didn't wait to get serviced and ended up eating at Felipe's. I came back to get wings and finally got serviced by a different person. More likely to not come back here. This is my first time here. Not a positive experience at all. I ordered a Long Island iced tea and it tasted like club soda. My drink was almost clear. That's not a Long Island iced tea at all. Tasted horrible. I took it back and asked them to try again. The bartender, dark haired lady, said she made it right and if she made it again it would turn out the same way. Uh.... really not a good answer. She replaced it with a Jack & coke at my request. That's the drink part. Next, ordered a steak nacho. When our order arrived, the chips were close to burnt and the steak, when I could find a piece, seemed like it was microwaved and hard as a rock with no flavor. It had cheese sauce vs real cheese. I didn't say anything to the staff, mostly because I didn't want to have another conversation with the rude bartender. Not sure if I'll go back there again. read more

This is my first time here at Phat Chad's Tavern. I must admit when I walked up I assumed it to be a small bar with not much to do. To my surprise I walked in and was amazed at the roomy facility. The staff was friendly and conversed with me immediately making me feel very welcome. Menu items were explained and recommendations given. I attempted to order drink and was not sure what to get. The bartender was so sweet and patient and made sure she asked the right questions to make me a drink that was just what I didn't even realize I wanted. Then there was he food. Although the menu is one page, it's packed with flavor! I ordered the grilled cheese with sweet potato fries. The food came out hot and fresh! Fries were crispy and the sandwich oozed of cheesey goodness. I will definitely be making visits back to this place for the food. As for entertainment, there's no way one could come here and be bored. It's the perfect place to come with friends or a loved one to hang out and play pool, shuffle board, darts, or even make it a regular thing and join a league. Needless to say, if you are looking for somewhere to unwind and have a good time, Phat Chad's Tavern is the place to be...even on a Thursday night. read more

Ha! I found a new dive bar...it is tucked in the corner of a run down strip mall as you come off of the freeway. I was actually headed to the 7440 to have a quick drink and spied Phat Chad's Tavern. It is a lot roomier than it looks from the outside, has pool, darts, standard dive bar stuff..nice long L shaped bar. The young lady behind the bar was more than helpful and attentive and the clientele was running into their late 50's and up..but that is what makes it great..come one, come all! Overall, a neat place to drop in for mid day drink..don't know about the night crowd..I will find out though! read more

Cool dive bar that is on the border of Roseville and Citrus Heights. Mostly younger people. Drinks are strong, they have a DJ and the bartenders are cool and pour strong drinks. Worth checking out if you're near Riverside and Auburn. read more

The bartender we had (Britney) was excellent. She was friendly, funny, offered great service and very easy on the eyes. The pricing was fair. There are 3 reasons this isn't a 5 star review. Reason one was that the drinks were a bit weak. Reason two was because there were a lot of regulars there that were mostly entertaining, but a bit loud and obnoxious. While having so many regulars that were so at home is an excellent sign for the quality of the establishment, for me, it was very overwhelming and made me slightly uncomfortable. Reason 3 was that they didn't serve food. However, they did have the menu for the restaurant across the street and suggested that we could get food from there and eat it at the bar, which sort of negated the issue of them not serving food. read more

Dope little dive bar with potential. We went there to see the UFC fight. Just wish we could have heard the fight or at least had captions playing. We stuck to blue moon which was on tap, so we were content with our tall beers Since it was early there was only one bartender, so it tripped me out for a bit when I didn't see anyone behind the bar, but realized they were bussing the tables. Would definitely return for another UFC fight. read more
