The area might feel "give or take" to some, but personally, I've never felt unsafe or had any negative experiences when visiting. Now let's talk food--because that's what keeps me coming back! Everything is made fresh and HOT. I've never received a lukewarm or soggy order. You can tell they take pride in getting it right and getting it out quickly. I usually place my pickup orders through DoorDash, and it's always ready right on time. My absolute faves? The house fried rice and the shrimp fried rice. Unlike a lot of places that throw in baby shrimp as an afterthought, Fatfish gives you medium, full-sized shrimp that make the meal worth every bite. The food is so tasteful and wish they had a location in New York City. Service is always great and pleasant. I had the chicken teriyaki bowl and my husband had the shrimp teriyaki bowl. It was so fresh and tasty! Lots of chicken and shrimp... they didn't hold back! The veggies were so fresh and delicious and not over cooked. I would eat here any time and recommend that you try it! There is no dining in but take out only. That was perfect because we were staying at the Alpaca treehouse in the bamboo forest just down the road and we wanted to eat dinner at our Airbnb so we could get the full experience! read more

Okay, I'll finally admit it. I eat at Phat Phish. Not often, but enough to write a solid review. I usually order thai chili flavored wings but I've also had other flavors. I like that the wings are regular-sized (not jumbo..gross) and cooked crispy. I've had a burger here - not great but better than typical fast food. A friend has had their fried fish and he said that it was doable and he'd eat it again. The only thing I've eaten here that I'm not a fan of are the fries; they don't cook them hot or long enough so they are often limp and I'm a fan of crispy fries. Surprisingly, the food that I've had actually looks like the pictures they display. Winning! Service is fairly fast, but the girls they have working the register get on my nerves. They are not interested in being there AT ALL which explains why there is a different one every time I visit. It's all I can do not to roll my eyes when I have to place my order. While I'm not a regular at Phat Phish, it's a solid place and they are my go-to when I want something fast and don't want to drive too far. read more

For my 300th review, I figured I should review somewhere in my neighborhood. I am at Empire Package next door pretty regularly and have always regarded Phat Phish skeptically. My SO was the one who finally bit the bullet and gave it a try. Thank goodness he did. We aren't very adventurous in our wing choices. We get half buffalo hot and half lemon pepper. The lemon pepper wings here are delicious, better than any of the other wing joints we've tried in our area. The buffalo wings are fries are also solid but not standout like the lemon pepper. Service is fine. Nothing outstanding but I've never had any issues. The employees are polite and competent. My SO has come home from here complaining about very slow service but it seems to be occasional and not their standard operating procedure. We'll continue to frequent despite off days. It's pretty great to have a wing spot and beer spot right next door to each other. read more

TRY THIS PLACE! Some of the best wings in Atlanta hands down!!! You can tell they use all natural chicken wings because they are just the right size, not oversized like some places you see. They have an endless selection of flavors to choose from (it's hard to go wrong), but my favorite combo is lemon pepper and hot buffalo!! ALSO TRY THE CHEESESTEAKS OH MY LAWD. Third time here and have to say that each time the food has been cooked to order, fresh tasting and really satisfying. The prices are reasonable and the selection is pretty good. Just be ready to smell like grease after you leave. Which really isn't a bad trade off for the food you get. I really like the catfish combo. Unlike many places the fish is lightly breaded so you can enjoy the fish. Never greasy and always tender. I skip all the sauces and just go for some hot sauce. Fries are like the old school cafeteria fries so no complaint there because these are crispy and tender. Coleslaw is meh but that's just a filler anyways. One of the worst wing place I'd gone. Me and my girl gone there to order take out. She ordered the Shrimps and I ordered the Wings. When we got our food and started driving home, we open the box because we were really hungry. The wings I got were the smallest wings I'd ever seen, and it doesn't look like they toss in the flavor I'd ask for. The wings were less than 2 inch and skinny with barely any meet. My girl shrimp from a glance look pretty okay size, but once my girl removed the breading, there 3 times of breading than the shrimp. They just batter the shrimp with so much breading to make it look decent size. We regret coming to this place and we will never going there again! read more

I was looking for a "fast food" option for Fat Tuesday this year! Phat Phish Cafe hit the spot. It was not quite fast, but I was able to order online and pick it up with a few minutes. Upon arrival, the food was ready (took about 20 minutes) and was hot! The shrimp fried rice was FIRE. I loved it. It can definitely hold it's own against many of the Chinese restaurants in town. I wasn't a wholly supportive fan of the wings, but the fried fish was fantastic! Definitely a come-back location for some "fast & fried" food! read more

Phat Phish is a clean, little hole the wall in the East Atlanta area at the intersection of Flat Shoals and Fayetteville (not village) that has some of the best fried fish I've had in a long time. I'm not a catfish fan, but this was off the chain y'all. That's the only thing I've eaten in the 2x I've been there and is the only reason I go. Nowhere to sit as it's a take out place. They have fried everything from skrimp (shrimp), chicken fingers, wings, fried chicken sandwich, have your fish as a sandwich, even gyro wraps, fried rice and Teriyaki bowl. Typical asian and fried food/soul food mash up. This area is gentrifying fast as even Charleston Pointe subdivision is selling in the mid $200's now. I think the next time I'm going to get fried okra. Where else can you go and get fried okra, a Teriyaki bowl and a fish sandwich. Sounds like the perfect munchie fix but they close at 10pm on weekends and 9pm during the week. And yes, you will smell like grease when you leave. I don't get the fries anymore because they use the frozen crinkle cut fries and if you don't eat them as soon as they pull out the fryer they become mushy. If u live off flat shoals and ur headed home tired from work and don't feel like cooking, this is a pretty good option on a budget. I didn't like my food. I ordered wings and fries and they messed up on it. How do you mess up on wings and fries? First off my wings were super small, and dry looking. Which is weird because I ordered lemon pepper teriyaki wings. Now if there's one thing I learned being out here it's that you Georgians love wings like us New Yorkers love Chinese food.
