I should also have listened to the reviews... I booked an appointment online, only to receive a call several hours later that I was required to drop my car off, as opposed to waiting in the lobby for my vehicle. When I inquired as to why, the manager (Allison) informed me that they were double booked due to their tire sale and literally would not let me wait for the vehicle. Furthermore she said that she'd be able to get me in after a WEEK and that even then they still would not service the vehicle at the actual appointment time. This was surprising and very disappointing, since I had an appointment. They wanted to talk about "options" but none of these options involved servicing the vehicle in a timely manner at the appointment time I had or would book. Such a bad sign and honestly probably indicative of the service, repair, and overall experiences. STAY AWAY - not reliable for something as simples as setting an appointment, so I can't imagine the quality of service I would have experienced. read more

And the nasty person behind the counter had to tell us multiple times "it's been closed for i years" as if emphasizing "years" to make us feel stupid was a necessary piece of information. In my few visits here for tires, brakes, rotations there was always a lack of enthusiasm. Prices were okay. Time was fine. But I did need more suspension work they said could not be done. My rental car had a tire that was losing pressure. I coordinated with Hertz to have a repair done with the Lodi Pep Boys. Michael attended to my problem immediately and after inspecting the tire he determined it needed to be replaced. He was able to locate the exact tire I needed and get the change done, all within about 45 minutes. I truly appreciated how friendly, reassuring and professional he was when explaining the process to me as we went along, all while seamlessly coordinating with Hertz and the requirements of their voucher. While I was waiting for the tire change, I overhead Micheal on the phone speaking with other customers, updating them about their car repairs and other issues. He was equally as courteous and caring with them. I couldn't have asked for a better place to have my car taken care of. I was soon on the road, stress free and back to my vacation plans. I had the pleasure of working with this Pep Boys as my mother had some charging issues with her car. I'm in Southern California and had to do my best to help my elderly mother remote. We had her car towed in and come to find out that that the battery did work, alternator and the starter were okay and that my mother needed to take the battery back to Les Schwab to replace or to recharge. Either way, Michael (I believe this was the Assistant Manager's name) was extremely helpful and made sure to contact me prior to and after the appointment, even helping my mother with her GPS on to her next stop. They went above and beyond, even though she didn't spend any money with Pep Boys, they treated her as if she did. Great personnel at this location! read more

We made an appointment online like others stated, we rearranged our whole day, drove an hour to the location, when we arrived we gave them the name and info. As soon as they noticed that we were an "online" appointment the "manager" immediately said we'd have to leave it or wait all day and that they can't get to it because they were double booked, she's short handed, yadda yadda....she was extremely unprofessional and had no desire to resolve any issue and frankly did not give a s@#& about customer service, approach, etc. As a business owner I have no idea why anyone would make this person a manager unless you want to continuously lose business. My suggestion is get her some classes/training so she can be a better asset being that there are several other complaints on her here..... We took our business somewhere else in town and had a wonderful experience with classy, professional, good service. read more

We purchased a set of tires from Pep Boys because we thought it would be the best value but we were wrong. We also paid extra for free flat repairs. Well, we got a flat and I went in the next day (taking a day off work) to get it fixed and they didn't have time to fox it. I would have to drop it off and hope they could find the time to fix it. Every other tire place I have dealt with would take care of it asap. I will never buy another tire from them. I will also tell everyone how bad the service is. I ended up taking it to another tire store just to get a flat fixed and had to pay. I only gave them one star because I could not leave a zero star review. read more

Why Pep Boys is terrible... The A/C in my car went out. I looked online Friday night, found Pep Boys, and scheduled an appointment to have them work on it at 10am Saturday. I arrived about 8:30am Saturday. They welcome me in and ask how they can help. I tell them who I am and that I have a 10am appointment, but needed to leave my car early. They immediately tell me they can't get to it today, maybe in a few days...which they said was Thursday! I could leave my car but I can't bring it back later when they are ready. Either I leave it with them or I could kick rocks (my words lol). The car must be left with them so they can get to it when they can but no guarantees, maybe look at it Sunday or Monday but not work on it until at least Thursday...5 days after my appointment. Of course I left thinking again they are terrible and it's why I only choose to have them work on my vehicle when I feel stuck since I can walk there. They could have at least called me when they opened...they knew they couldn't work on my car as soon as I told them about my appointment, so they already knew. They could have allowed me to bring it back when they are available, not leave it with them for days without another vehicle and without knowing how long they'd have it. So, I took my car to Midas at 9am. They immediately took it in, gave me a price but said they'd check if there was anything else wrong and call if there was. I knew there would be because I smelled a burning smell a day earlier. They called to explain what definitely was the problem and what else could be damaged, what the prices would be, sent me pictures, I authorized the repairs, they called me back to tell me the second part wasn't damaged and they were done. Saved me $500 from what the cost would have been if everything was damaged. Picked my car up at 11:30am, 2.5 hours from start to pickup. Fixed. This isn't about the 2 companies and who is better or who is busier...it's about customer service. Midas provided it every step of the way, Pep Boys didn't appear to give a crap. Bet you can guess that I won't be going back to Pep Boys. Also, if they try to claim anything other than the truth I just told you, I will post all the receipts...appointment, cancelation, Uber ride canceled, time I got to Midas, Uber ride, time Midas called to update me, pictures they sent, time they called again, and time of pickup. Have a wonderful day and try a company other than Pep Boys...I mean this isn't a promotion for Midas after all . I don't care if you use Midas, I just care if you're foolish enough to use Pep Boys. read more

Myself and since we're driving up to Sacramento and we got a flat tire. Pep Boys was really helpful in trying to get as quickly back on the road. They hate us for 45 minutes but were able to get it done in less than 30 minutes. The staff was very friendly and hospitable to our needs in urgency into the matter. I would recommend this store to others that are traveling along. That was our's customer service representative and she really helped us. We called ahead of time to ensure that we were able to get a tire for the car that we had rented. She was able to contact enterprise and get everything straightened out before arrival at the store. Unfortunately, I have a flat on my Enterprise rental late last night. Enterprise advised me to take it to Pep Boys in Lodi as they are contracted so I wont need to pay. Great! I thought. I get here at 8:10am. " do you have an appointment?" No, I have a flat on my rental and was told to come here. She said, "no appointment, it will take hours." I said, "for a tire patch?!?! Are you serious???", "yes I have 3 guys and 3 cars already". Ok wheres the common sense here? At Les Scchwab, even AAA mechanic shop, its not just first in/first out; its also logic... get the small, quick things done. Literally, keep your Enterprise contract.. get the small things done and out. Work smarter and not harder. She asked if I had called Enterprise for a swap... duh. They have 30 reservations today and only 15 cars... I checked all my resources before wasting my time here. Last time I was at Pep Boys was 2004... theres a reason I never bring my vehicles here. It definitely did not improve and Im surprised they are still in business. Now I wish I would have paid Les Schwab $25 to get it fixed myself. Unreal. Would never recommend this shop for anything. This is my second review. My first review was in 2013 and was 1-Star. This review is unfortunately going to be repeated. Last night, I went online to place an order and schedule an installation appointment. I entered the make, model, year, and engine and ordered the vehicle specific parts. I then scheduled a 1:00pm appointment and paid online. I received the customary emails thanking me for my order and confirming my appointment. Today, I walked into Pep Boys at 12:45 and informed them that I had an appointment. I provide name and vehicle info and was told that I was not in the system. The service advisor turned the screen and I pointed out my name and vehicle quickly. It was clearly marked "web" because it was made online. He then sighed and told me they prefer appointments to be made in person or by phone. Then said, "we're really booked up. We'll try to get to it." The service should have taken only about 30-45 minutes. If I wasn't lazy, I could have easily done it at home, but installation was free and I like my hands clean. After a little over an hour waiting, I was called up and informed that one of the products I ordered did not fit my vehicle. I explained that their website was very clear that the products I ordered were for my specific vehicle. The service advisor told me that their website is always messed up and he is always telling customers to come in or call when making purchases. Said he never recommends their website. After a few minutes, they get the right product and get started. About 15 minutes later, they called me back up to inform me that the same thing happened with the other product I purchased. As I type this, I am now 2 hours into a 45 minutes service. I go online to their chat function. It shows "store inquiry-complaint" so I click it and start a chat with "Amanda". She asks how she can help me. I start to explain the nature of my complaint. A couple lines in, she cuts me off and tells me to call another number and asks if she can be of further service. Evidently complaint in their chat selection does not actually mean that you can complain. I have ordered numerous auto parts over the years from various online sources and have never had this issue. Second time pep boys had failed miserably. I'm not sure I have the patience to go for a third strike. This is, yet again, an overall failure in customer service online, in store, and through their online complaint function. So, thank you Yelp for providing a meaningful platform to be heard. Today, I stopped by to get a tire gauge since the "low tire pressure" light came on. Everyone was very helpful! My son learned how to check the tire pressure from Jesse & the lady at the front desk gave him a little toy car. All I wanted was to buy a few supplies but they made sure we were taken care of. The holidays are coming up and this was his first present :) Last year when we first moved to Lodi, friends & family had good recommendations for the best places to go for what we needed. Everyone told me to stay away from Pep Boys because of the terrible customer service. Maybe the toxic management or something else has changed. I ended up here with a blown tire at 730 at night! I always go to pep boys so when I pulled off freeway and there was one right here I felt so lucky! But knowing my tires were special size and would have to be ordered , my heart sank when they showed me my tire was split all along the inside rim and a 2nd was about to go! No repair possible and they didn't have my exact tire size . But even after closing , Richard , Zane and Francisco and kim all stayed to help me make sure I could find a way home! They were so nice to me knowing I was stressed out! they were calling everywhere to get me tires . this by far is the worse pepboys i have ever been too. I have been a customer for almost 20 yrs and moved to a different location. the lodi one is the closest one i have. i read the reviews before going here and should have just believed it. i brought two of my cars to have an oil change. they said there was no wait so thats a good sign. then for some reason they couldnt pull my previous info. they said their systems are not linked which i believe is a lie. i have been to the downey, norwalk,, paramount ones and they all just needed my number to access everything. 2nd i bought the lifetime tire allignment at the downey location. i called and asked herb the manager there if it will work in a different location. and asked when i bought it too. said it should be fine. the manager said at lodi that she cant since its not on the system and would need the order number or receipt. i said fine ill call the downey location. when i was gonna dial up the downey one she then stopped me because they said they actually didnt have the technician to do it? like why tell me now when im getting the info. she said they are gone for the weekend. well its wednesday and its not the weekend. thats a lie again. so i said fine just do the oil change for both cars and tire rotation. 20 mins after i got a call and was told they cant do the honda because of the oil being low or what. i said fine just do the mitsubishi. then they said they need the lock bolts for the mitsu for the tires and said they are inside the glove compartment. i went back after 20 mins and when picking up the car they didnt rotate the tires. they told me it was the wrong bolt. and im like thats the original one that all my services from pepboys used how can it not work. i checked it and now its the wrong bolt. so they stole the lock bolt i have to have an excuse to not have my tires done. this place is a scam and should be reported. i would call corporate and just have my lifetime alignment refunded since this location wont even do it. also i brought my honda to oilstop by chevron. they had no problem doing the oilchange at all. that place was way better than this one. read more

They require you to have masks, but don't provide them. I saw a man come in that fought for our country and was forced to pay $10 for a pack of masks, just to be able to enter the store. To add to that, the employees weren't even wearing their masks correctly. Pep boys is huge. Social distancing is very easy to do here. The fact that they require masks and then have a pack of them for $10 right in the front is absolutely a rip off in my opinion. Scott and Katrina always take care of me here with great personal customer service. The only time I go anyplace else is if I am out of town or for a recall on one of the vehicles. Took my car in for an oil change today with a coupon for a $50 synthetic oil change. They did the service and rang me up for $75. The manager told me that the coupon was only good for 5 quarts and they put 7 in my car. The problem was they told me that it would put 5 quarts in when I brought it in and no one told me they put in 7! I explained this to the manager and he very condescendingly told me that it "says right on the back of the coupon that's it only good for 5 quarts". I told him "you didn't tell me it was for 7 quarts", to which he had no response. I told them I would not be coming back to which the manager replied "sorry to hear that". I told him if he was actually sorry he would honor the $50 deal, to which he just shrugged. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to change oil so I suggest you go to one of the multiple other options in Lodi. read more
