I just spent $37.50. Every time I call I ask them to give me a cheesesteak with everything on it except hot peppers. Multiple times I get a cheesesteak that still has the remnants of, and tastes of, hot peppers on it. They just cook everything on the same grill and don't take into consideration what they've just cooked and how it could linger into the next sandwich. I was so hungry tonight that I ordered two sandwiches and three slices. Both sandwiches were substandard and the slices, it's ridiculous, all tiny by the size comparison of local pizza shops. Every now and again I crave a good cheesesteak and I have to let you all know that if you are in Bay Ridge then the Philadelphia Grille is a great place to get one. The Grille is essentially a storefront with very small space for customers to remain in the place outside of a small counter that barely fits two as the rest of it is all ovens and food preparation space. Outside they have two small tables and a couple of chairs and this is only of use if the weather is comfortable and you feel like eating right outside the door while other customers line up. Food wise they also serve pizza and pasta and while I have never had their pasta offerings I can attest that their slice is a tasty item that you should try if you crave pizza and are up that far on Fourth avenue. However you are usually here for a cheesesteak and they can make it any number of ways for you. The standard cheesesteak is chopped up steak, onions and cheese on a hero long roll. Lately I have had to limit the onions intake since my stomach just doesn't like them anymore. Doing mine like this ran me $10 which is surely reasonable. I was a short walk home so I didn't sit outside and eat and instead waited until I was back in the apartment in front of the list of DVR'd programs. Very tasty stuff and an accomodating price. Eggclent neighborhood place. Always quick with delivery and ordering pick up. Usually takes no longer then 7-10 min when walking up and ordering. Store front is small, so not much room to sit and enjoy so be prepared to eat elsewhere. Everything on menu is delicious and they also offer pizza and rolls if that's what your in the mood for. I have to be careful when I eat here as most people get onions and what not and I am allergic and can't eat them. When I go I ask that they separate my stuff from any others and they have done that without issue. Very happy every time I go there and never have had a problem. the people behind the counter are nice and friendly. The only issue I would have and it isn't that big just an inconvenience is it's cash only. I don't mind it cause there is an ATM next door. Highly recommend this place. read more

Do yourselves a favor, when you come here just stick with the cheese steak sandwich. Don't bother coming here for anything else. I made that mistake last night. I've lived in the area for about three years now and the cheese steaks are outstanding. I'll even go ahead and say that they are the best in the neighborhood. Good amount of steak, bread is fluffy and crispy, peppers and onions, mushrooms, however you like it, they'll make it for you. They also make a really good vodka pie. I always order it as a square pie. Last night, however, I was feeling rambunctious and decided to try a chicken roll. I kind of wished I didn't. While it looked tasty in the display, I was drastically disappointed after my first bite. The chicken was very chewy, and stringy AKA under cooked. I spit the piece out and took another bite, that piece was fine. I thought I was in the clear, but when I tried a bite from the second half of the roll, same disappointment! Me being so annoyed led me to write this review. Ever get that feeling when you're waiting for something and you get hit with an epic fail? Well for some reason that was last night for me. What a let down! Under cooked chicken and half baked dough, easily could get them one star, but I'm going to be generous and give them two because of how good their cheese steaks are. Its just a bland, featureless, super-cheapo greasy one-fry-grill with nothing whatsoever remarkable about it. You forget the place five minutes after eating there. With Philadelphia being famously known for your cheesesteaks I went out there to test that theory at the famous Genos. I was met with disappointment as the cheesesteak I received did not live up to the expectations I hoped for. With that being said... Before having my first Cheesesteak at Philadelphia Grille located in BROOKLYN, I read the reviews and thought to myself "What's the worst that happen?" Let me tell you... That first bite of my cheesesteak with the works was like a water ride down my tastebuds. The authenticity of the meat, cheese, onions, peppers and mayo reminded me of what a real cheesesteak is suppose to taste like. Ok, I've devoured several great cheesesteaks in and around south Philly including the tourist traps. I've also tried "Philly" cheesesteaks in NYC (Shorty's, Carls, etc...) so I know my way around the sandwich. Having made several of them in my past, I know of a few details that would easily bump this cheesesteak up to 5 stars. Decor: The place is tiny. There is a small front counter area where you order and three feet behind the counter is the grill(iddle). There were a couple of chairs outside if you wanted to sit and eat your food or a slim counter along the wall you can lean on and rest your savory items. Best bet - if the weather is nice walk a block downhill to the park or to the harbor promenade and grab a bench and enjoy the grub and view. I took mine back home. Service: Efficient and fast. Since they are nearby, I walked in and ordered. If I'm not feeling all too lazy, I like to go into the place that's making my food - cooks mindset. Within 30 seconds of ordering, the meat hit the grill and the roll was prepped. It took 6-7 minutes from ordering to walking out the door. Awesome-fast!!! Some people take take-out/delivery places like this for granted, but don't forget that before you is an open kitchen where you get to see your food being handled and made. The kitchen is simple, yet clean, organized and run by attentive pros. The guys working there are pretty cool, but don't expect a warm and fuzzy welcome. They are bustin ass in a hot kitchen all day ya know. Food: The Philadelphia Grille has a good solid cheesesteak. I ordered a cheesesteak with provolone and onions. Nothing else is required of a superb cheesesteak. I like prov cheese on mine, so didn't bother asking about whiz. If you're that interested in whiz, give them a call and ask; I don't judge. I love grilled onions which they cooked in with the meat. I prefer my onions to have a few minutes head start cooking so they are sweet and caramelized when the meat is done. The meat was frozen sliced steak, ribeye if I'm not mistaken. Not that this is bad, but the freezing process after slicing allows more moisture loss from the steak when it is thawed and cooked. Although the flavor was good, the overall sandwich was dry. To remedy this, I added some organic canola oil mayo from my fridge to lube the rest of the sandwich. Otherwise, fresh sliced meat is ideal. I would have given this place at least 4 stars if not comparing it to cheesesteaks in Philly, and they will see my $8 again. read more

Yelp alert; this place doesn't accept cards for delivery! I ordered a pizza from here, my first slice of pizza in the five boroughs. The slices are big, but thin and chewy. Like I was chewing the crust like gum. My wife thought I was kidding until I started blowing bubbles with each bite. Every time one popped she gave me a high five. We are cool dudes. They also have the best Jamaican beef patties in the neighborhood. Tonight i ordered a cheesesteak for the first time. Simple- greasy, American, onions, peppers. So let me start off by saying I am from Philadelphia. So of course I have a high standard of cheesesteaks (and pizza). This place is ok for both. The cheesesteaks are reminiscent of some of the places from my old neighborhood but fall short of the better ones. But for the price and considering I have not anything close to decent other than this place I can recommend them. The pizza? Well what can I say it's NYC. But I also see people ordering papa john's pizza so that blows my mind. The pizza here compared to other places is ok as well. So of the specialty pizza really are not that good.
