Great food, no frills, no seating...definitely worth take out on a Friday! While NYC is not known for its cheesesteak, this hole in the wall (in the best possible way) makes one mean sandwich. The meat is tender and well seasoned, the bread is soft, and they have the provolone or cheez whiz option! They also have burgers and other sandwiches, but really...just try the cheesesteak! It's why locals love them. The service is efficient and quick, which is fitting for this take out joint. Give it a try if you're ever in south BK.

Ask the Community - Philadelphia Grille

Do they use an Amoroso roll in their cheesesteaks?

What's the difference between their white and Bianca pizzas?

There is no difference between white and Bianca pizza. They are the same thing. The only difference is Bianca is white in Italian.

My new favorite restaurant…read more The food was good, fresh, presumably well-sourced based on taste, and a very fair value. The restaurant is not overly expensive -- the $65.00 lunch bill below suggests a high-end selection and/or apps. I had a pineapple mint lemonade, sea bass on saffron risotto, a lovely salad topped with potato gnocchi, and cake dessert for $85 inclusive of 20% tip and tax. Nearly everything tasted fresh and homemade. Worth it. If this were served in Restaurant Row, the bill would be $40 more and the food not nearly as good. Because Beets & Carrots offers something rare and startlingly somehow in decline: food that tastes like food the body happily accepts as such. They serve meals that stand out simply because they taste like food. It was nice to dine outside the home feeling confident no digestive issues, lethargy, brain fog, bloating, etc were around the corner. You can tell that someone health conscious who cares about how ingredients show up in the meal is in the kitchen, someone who thinks food is both very fun and very serious. Least favorite: The lemonade. Mostly personal preference here, as I prefer a much tarter, less watery lemonade with higher lemon:water volume ratio. But I think most people would like it; I would get it again. Favorite: Both the entree and salad (which surprised me with a deliciously simple horseradish dressing) were great, but the bass wins in my book. Skin crisped to perfection...very flavorful fish and a great cut...creamy, perfect risotto. I appreciated that the risotto wasn't too salty as well.

The place is small but clean and well kept. There are tv screens on the wall behind the register with the menu but they have menus on their tables too. The service was a little slow, but it did not take away from my first encounter and the quality of the food. I opted for the A1 Signature Poke with salmon, tuna and shrimp and my kiddo did a Create Your Own poke bowl. We were waiting for another order for my younger boys so we ate our bowls in the car. The cuts of fish in my bowl were great, tasted fresh and so good. I was a little iffy on the mango but trusted the process and I was pleasantly surprised at how well the mango chunks paired with everything else. The portions were generous and there was enough sauce for all the components. We even got 2 drinks to go, on the house which I thought was such a sweet gesture since it was pretty warm outside. Already wanting another poke bowl as I write this. I can't wait to be back. Highly recommend.

They offered great recommendations since it was our first time at this restaurant for most of the people in our party. The food was delicious. We decided to go for their bigger dishes and share it family style. We took their mixed grilled platter and their seafood mix. We also had their Sarava salad, cheesy bread and tuna tartare! All great! The drinks did not disappoint either. Some great craft cocktail choices. We actually saved room for dessert this time and tried their banana crème brûlée and Brazilian carrot cake - YUM!

I didn't experience any attitude or rudeness from any of the staff which was good. My only complaint is that she didn't write down our order which in turn got our food all wrong. I ordered the burger well done, my chick ordered hers medium. Well I ended up with the medium and she got the well done. We wanted cheddar cheese, well we both got swiss. We wanted truffle fries and we both ended up with regular fries. So yeah this pretty much goes down to not writing exactly what we wanted and us getting whatever food they felt like giving us. I would recommend next time to please write down customers orders so that the paying customer gets exactly what he's paying for. I will say again the food was very good but they screwed up the orders. Will I go back, I don't know but I hope in future they write orders down so this doesn't happen to anyone else.

Boca Del Cielo - Bay Ridge Brunch Gem…read more I stopped by Boca de Cielo in the Bay Ridge area for brunch with the kids, and it turned out to be such a cozy and welcoming spot. You order your food at the front counter, and while we waited, the owner surprised us with a complimentary almond croissant since it was our first visit. It was absolutely delicious -- flaky, fresh, and easily one of the best almond croissants I've ever had. The menu has a great variety of options. We went with the steak and eggs and buttermilk street pancakes. The steak was tender and full of flavor, the home fries were seasoned perfectly, and the pancakes were fluffy and delicious. We also tried the Tropical Bliss Juice, a refreshing blend of pineapple, mango, and orange that's freshly pressed to order. From the warm decor to the amazing food and friendly service, everything about this place was fantastic. I can't wait to come back and try more items on their menu!

This came w/a salad (but your cheapy iceberg lettuce ;) and balsamic drizzle - all in all, a delicious meal. The seating has definitely changed the quality of the food and dranks are still fire

Open kitchen and limited amount of seats let us keep the place cozy and intimate, just like home. We make sure to buy from local purveyors, coffee roasters, and bakers." Home is where the heart is and there is nothing quite like a home cooked meal. I have to say most Bay Ridgians enjoy dining local and in our neighborhood. I love to support neighborhood gems because majority of restaurant owners here, love their clients, establish loyalty through cooking delicious food and provide consistent great customer service. I was in the mood for a " comfort food"breakfast, you know, eggs, avocado, mozzarella, tomato, deliciousness and I found it on the menu simply named "Breakfast Sandwich". Which consists of voila: Mozzarella, avocado, tomato jam, arugula, crispy bacon, dijonaise, sunny side up egg between multigrain toasts. I ordered this sans the bacon ( requested turkey bacon which they do not have). What arrived in my plate was this decadent open faced egg sandwich that looked delectable.. and was!! Let's first talk about the wheat toast: I tasted it naked and it simply melted in my mouth. The ingredients worked well together, perfect synchronicity. I used one half of the toast to sop up any fallen ingredients. Highly recommend! For a drink, I wanted something a bit different, thus, ordered the Mango Mint Peach tea, fruity with a hint of mint. Loved it and went well with the Sammy! There are lovely options besides breakfast sandwiches like quinoa, oatmeal, granola, pancakes, French toast.. breakfast is served all day and lunch is served @noon. I arrived before 12 and was told I can order breakfast or lunch. It has a cozy, intimate vibe which I love.. one where you can dine solo, or do work or read or just enjoy the fabulous food. I will make "The Common" my home away from home. Additionally, there are cooking classes in their Park Slope location; the courses look great: Italian feast, Moroccan cooking, Wine Pairing and many more. Check out their website for more info. We ordered the chicken liver mousse, crispy potato tart, and burger. The chicken liver mousse is a must order and something I get every time I come here, whether it is this location or the Park Slope one. The mousse itself is rich, creamy, savory, and packed with umami. I just wish it came with something better on the side. The pita was a little underwhelming and was not warmed all the way through. The crispy potato tart was excellent. The potato was super crispy, and a bite with the salmon, egg, sour cream, and potato together was perfect. The lightly dressed arugula helped cut through the richness and made for a nice palate cleanser. The burger looked pretty simple when it arrived, but it ended up being surprisingly good. The patty was juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Overall, a great neighborhood spot and one I would happily come back to.
