This place of business exudes negative energy!! I am appalled by the rude tone of voice that the manager used. When she told me that I could not return the ski boots that I had bought two days prior, she became angry and defensive as if I was the enemy and not the customer. She told me that the return policy was on my receipt and on the website. When I asked her if the no-refund policy was posted inside the store, she said she didn't know but that it WAS on the receipt and on the website. I did some legal research and found that businesses must make their no-refund policy highly visible in the store BEFORE a sale. I called and asked for the owner George to call me to discuss my concern, but he did not. read more

Went here looking for a new bike last year. I partially blame myself as I should have been more educated about bike sizing. I'm 5'6" and was told a small was just fine for me. I have a longer reach for my height and the bike was way to small. The manager also came by twice to talk to the salesman and not once said hi or anything. Finally I said I was going to think about it and he shows me a piece of paper that the manager slipped him saying "$4,000" allowing him to drop the price if I didn't take it for the $4,600 posting. I bought the bike and 6 weeks later called back with my concerns and they told me " I could sell it back to them for a loss." I'll never go back here as it's obvious they just care about profit and not customer service. It's too bad because they have a Santa Cruz Bronson in stock that I want but won't be giving them my money. I'll find my Bronson elsewhere. read more

DO NOT SHOP HERE: TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! *I am writing this review on behalf of my father-in-law who lives in Maine. He doesn't have a Yelp account and he asked me to post this for him. My 70 year old father-in-law drove 1 hour each way to go to this store and buy new ski boots. He found a pair he liked, dropped off his skis to be tuned, paid and went home. When he got home he realized the boots were not the ones he had paid for. The next day he went back to get the right ones. The store "couldn't find" the boots he paid for despite it being LESS THAN 24 HOURS since he had last been there. Instead of giving him a refund like they should have, they cited the "store return policy" and refused to give him his money back. Not only that, the manager was EXTREMELY rude instead of being apologetic for the mistake THEY MADE. In the end my father-in-law had to settle for a much cheaper boot that he didn't like, had to make multiple trips back and forth to the store wasting gas and his valuable time. Shopping for a bike late season is hard. Or at least during a pandemic it is. From other stores not having bikes in stock to having issues with their customer service, I'm happy I ended up at Philbricks! They did not pressure me to spend 2700$ on a top tier bike but treated me like I had spent that much. I'm a big guy and finding a bike that fit, was in stock and was affordable for me was a task until I got to Philbricks. I worked with Noah and Chris and they were both excellent and handled my admittedly numerous questions. The guys in the shop were also very nice to work with. The store is clean and tidy and they have a huge selection to choose from even with pandemic stock being an issue. I'll be back! read more

Just a very disappointing experience at Philbrick's Ski, Board & Bike. Take your business elsewhere if you can. We leased ski equipment for the kids. The service and end result were just really disappointing. The manager had such a bad attitude towards us and refused to even give us a store credit when we tried to return the equipment early. We seemed to be treated more like the enemy versus valued customers. The attitude of the manager woman was just terrible and unfriendly. She was happy to just get us to leave the store asap and did not care if we left pissed off. We even just bought an expensive bike there and I bought a brand new pair of skis off their ski wall but that did not even register with them. Just disappointing and I hope they will do better. The equipment: Just junk. Ill-fitting, not properly tuned, beat up old equipment. No poles included. Skis were too short for my older son and the skis just habitually pop off for my younger son. So we just decided to return my older sons equipment early expecting they would take care of us at least with store credit which we would be more than happy to take since they do have a lot of inventory of great stuff. On the return receipt the store manager woman wrote: "Mom refused to bring son in for refitting." The story goes: At another local ski shop the owners gladly pulled a brand new pair of K2 Mindbender skis off their wall and mounted them to lease for $199.00 for the season and with a 24 hour turnaround to mount so we could get on the slopes. Beautiful and we're so happy and impressed. This sub-par package at Philbricks was $289.99 for the season. Shop around. Unfortunately, there are likely better places and especially people to buy from than Philbrick's Ski, Board & Bike. Bummed to be needing to post this. read more

Been out on my new Volkl Katana's today up at Sugarloaf. They got 14" of new snow over the last few days and the powder is epic! These Skis are Amazing and live up to they HYPE. Very light, Lots of POP, Floatation and grip. I think Philbricks has a few pairs left and this week with all the snow up north you should go down see Meg and George and treat yourself! We've always had great service for ski tune ups boot fitting . Kids ski club. Only downfall is it feels like a dealership when your buying a new car . Once is fine if they ask if you need help but they train employees like car salesman constantly up your butt with the same questions . Customer Service- one person who is in a management position can loose customers and business and her bad attitude can have a ripple effect within the organization. It really is a shame that when someone has a bad day they take it out on people that have been lifelong customers of Philbricks. A manager should be able to keep emotions in check at all times busy or not. If that is a problem you are in the wrong position. One person with a bad experience will tell 20 others. I drove an hour each way to have bindings put on my skis, as we were told on the phone they could do it. Upon arrival we were treated horribly and told that we didn't buy the skis at Philbricks therefore they will not put the bindings on. None of that bothers me, stuff happens I get it. What does bother me is the way I was treated by a manager while the rest of the staff was nothing but kind and friendly. Ever hear the saying one bad apple? Walked in on 12/19/16.ready to drop a decent amount of cash on bike-riding accessories. There might have been one other customer in the store. Wasn't helped or even greeted, but the man who walked in after me was greeted and helped immediately. I found some items I wanted on my own and took them to the check-out enclosure they have, where the fellow had his back to me. I called out "Hello!" I bought two higher end (~$2000) bikes at Philbrick's this season and couldn't be happier with both the bikes themselves and the level of service that I received. The sales team went through both purchases with me to make sure I had the right bike for my style of riding and body size, and the fitting that they did for me on my road bike has lead to almost 1,000 miles of comfortable, pain-free riding. The repair shop is also absolutely excellent - I've had 3 tune-ups done there and they always turn it around quickly. It's a bit of a ride for me to get there (about an hour away) and each time they've had the bike in and out of the service bay in an hour. Their selection of accessories is awesome, and there are always coupons/discounts to be had. Highly recommend all around - Great service, great prices, great shop. read more

The place is pretty big, but the service has always been awful! They always have great sales going, but the pricing and general business practice has always been very sketchy. Despite their assurances to the contrary, I've know many people who have seen first hand instances of items being removed from the sales floor prior to their "everything on sale" deals. If it weren't the only game in town for hockey gear, I would never shop there. As it is, I get most of my equipment online or I drive down to Pure Hockey if I need to get a few things. read more

I just found my new bike at Philbrick's and had a great experience throughout the entire process. Before I stopped in to shop for my new bike I went for a ride on my old bike at some nearby trails. I ran into some other riders there who helped me out with trail info as I had never been there before. After talking bike gear with them for a while I learned that they worked at Philbrook's, and one was the owner. Getting a bike is a big purchase for me, and it was a real treat knowing that I was on my way to a place with such genuinely knowledgeable and helpful staff, and with an owner who really supports the mountain biking community. When I arrived at the store after my ride, everyone I worked with was helpful and informed. I had a pretty good idea of what I was looking for and they helped me get what I wanted. Cam, who helped me, tuned the shocks to my weight and checked the bike over for me. They have a great test track out behind the shop, so I could really get a feel for how the bike rode. They also have very good service and warranty plans. I had some phone contact with them before I stopped in, and that was always top notch as well. I was a little sketched out about this place after dropping my bike off for a tune up . . . the guy who took it in was kind of douchey and he didn't want to give me any kind of receipt for my property, but reluctantly gave me a tag from the invoice when I insisted. They did a great job with the tune up though. When I came back to pick up my bike, both the girl at the register and the guy downstairs were great, so it was nice to see not everyone on staff has a bad attitude. The tune up cost was exactly what I would have paid in California, which probably means it's a little pricey here, but not terrible. read more

Philbricks is my go-to LBS and ski shop. I have purchased both bikes and skis for my kids, tri bikes for my wife and I, custom-fit ski boots (which I love), and just got a sweet end of season deal on some Head KORE 99 skis. Although they're now grown out of it, for a few years my kids did the ski lease program, which comes with great benefits and cuts down on the hassle of buying/selling used gear every year. With the new Heads, they even helped me locate some bindings they couldn't get and mounted them for me - very customer oriented. Excellent prices and service every time. read more

We had great service. We went in to look for a bike for our 2 year old and were quicky greated and showed exactly what we were looking for. They were extremely busy with a bike swap event and still we were treated as if we were the only ones in the store. The man we spoke to was very helpful and able to answer all of our questions . He went out of his way looking for a pair of knee pads that they didnt end up having in her size but he wad so nice to look in the back and storage areas to be sure. They have a great trade in program to upgrade each year. Considering how young she is we were hesitant to buy a quality (more expensive) bike that she woukd out grow in a year but this truly makes the difference. Mounted skis here a little while back and I didn't know the price until after the mount. Ended up being $75 dollars for such a simple easy job overpriced for sure. Next time i'll get it done at golf and ski for $30 Customer service is decent the people who fit you with boots are not professional, no measurements or things you would expect from a experienced boot fitter, they just ask for your shoe size. But on the up side they have good sales annually like you get a gift card for the amount you spend. read more

I drove all over RI to try to find a decent store that sells snowboard equipment. Either A. I'm using the wrong words to look up shops. or B. There are none. I spoke to a friend of mine about my interest in purchasing a pair of snowboard boots, she recommended Philbricks since she grew up in that area. I was hesistant about going there cause it's 2.5 hrs from my house. When I arrived, mind you it was during the week and everyone was still at work, it took 20 min before someone approached me. I was heading out the door when the manager asked me if I was being helped. LMAO. I had already taken a really good look at their inventory. I asked the manager where the snowboard boots were located. He boasted about how he had over 500 pairs of snowboard boots....most of which looked like something you would see at a flea market. One word to describe this place? Garbage. They have no Burton or Ride equipment at ALL. How do you have a sports center with no Burton. Anyway I broke down and bought a pair of snowboard boots just so I could hit the slopes. I ended up going online a couple days later and found some Burtons that I love, and bought them. The Burtons I picked up are cheaper than the Vans I bought Philbricks, and they were on sale... I made the 2.5 hr ride to Philbricks again to return the boots. They never mentioned to me any "penalties" for returning merchandise. The lady told me that because the boots were on sale that she could only give me an instore credit. I browse through the store to see if they have anything I'm interested in. 30 min go by again noone approached me to see if there was anything they could assist me with. I just left. Terrible. Unfortunately I have instore credit and I'll be going back. I'm going to see if they can special order something for me since they have such shitty equipment. read more

For me they have two great advantages: unparallel selection(!!!) and location (1/2 mi from my house). Regular prices are from fair to just-above-the-reasonable, but that's what sales are for, right? I went to Philbricks during the 50% - 70% off sale recently and couldn't be happier. I was helped by Molly who was very knowledgeable, straightforward, and didn't mind answering all my dumb questions as I am a first time buyer and a beginner/intermediate skier. No pressure when it came to the sale and no sales tax is a plus. The boots fit perfect too which was big for me and it came with a free lift ticket to Bretton Woods. I got skis, boots, poles, pants, a ski bag, and boot bag for around $750 and this was higher end equipment so it should have been double. Even if you can't get there for the sale it is a friendly store with an experienced staff that, for me, took the time to get me what was right for me. read more

The answer is always "No we can't do that" and that's after waiting an excessive amount of time to get an associates attention despite there being more employees than customers in the store. I love this place, it may look a little funny, but it has everything you need for the outdoors. My wife and I went in and bought boots, bindings, and ski poles. They offered free mounting of the bindings even though we didn't buy the skis there. The sales lady was very friendly, and really pushed us towards the lower prices clearance items to save money, which was surprising. I'm always used to having people press me to buy the really expensive items, but this was not the case. I'll be back next time I need something! read more

I live locally and last summer 2011, thought I might check out Philbrick's as I was looking for a roadbike. I ended up buying one from these folks. The salesstaff were quite knowledgeable with the bikes and other equipment they were selling, there was no pressure to buy whatsoever and the pricing was competitive. Any issues I've had with my bike, they were always willing to go the extra mile. Very impressed with the aftersales support and service. They stand by the products they sell! I have started to check out their wintersports stuff, have bought a few snow helmets and will be checking out their snowboards soon. They run good sales periodically, and as mentioned above, pricing is very competitive. I like to support local establishments and would say Philbrick's gets my repeat business! Keep it up, guys!
