The food was really good. The catering menu is confusing, make sure you go in person and talk to an employee. Even though there is a time set for you to pick up your catering order, make sure you give yourself more time and go there earlier than your pick up time. I was excited to try this place since it's so close to where I live. My husband picked up around 4:30pm and although I didn't expect the food to be piping hot since it's pre-cooked and ready-to-serve, I expected it to be somewhat warm. Some of the food congealed by the time we got home and started eating it (~10 minutes). The menu is also somewhat confusing. Being not filipino, some of the dishes weren't clear to me if it was pork, chicken, or beef based off the name so I didn't really know the pricing since I thought it was based off S/M/L container rather than per pound. The saving grace was definitely the bbq pork skewer and pancit. Those had good flavor (even though the bbq pork skewer was COLD. Great once warmed up). We ordered the chicken adobo which was pretty good as well but I'm not sure what they gave was chicken. I think it was pork. I wouldn't get the sisig again or the beef dishes. The beef dish was too sour for my taste. I got he chicken skin - some were good and crispy and others were tough and chewy. I'd probably try it again and throw it in the oven. Lumpia was a disappointment. No crunch at all and super tiny. Was hoping to do a party tray but will probably just buy some from the store and deep fry myself. As I wait patiently in line for my term to order food, they took care of the orders of three customers behind me. When I pointed it out to them, they didn't seem to care nor apologized. Terrible Terrible Terrible. Came on Tuesday to place and order of 2 whole pig for upcoming Saturday. On Tuesday was told to come back on Wednesday or Thursday to place the order as they won't be busy. Overview Sometimes you just crave filipino food, there is not an abundance of it in Sacramento for the most part. I have yet to find a "the place" for filipino food in Sac, purely based on my own taste buds. It's a simple, ready to order by combo type place. It's tastes and feels like fast food filipino food. Does that make sense? What I ordered BBQ Chicken skewer, BBQ Pork skewer, Pancit, Adobo and Sisig. Pros Portions are healthy. All the food is laid out in front of you, the line is clearly marked. Additionally, you can order combos or single items, up to catering sizes. Seems like the popular dishes are stocked and ready to go. Service was quite quick. Cons You have to kind of know what you are getting, the line moves pretty fast when busy around lunch. While they have names for the food, they do not have descriptions. Additionally, food items are separated so it is not as easy what constitutes as an item you can have in a 2 or 3 item plate. Cleanliness can use some work though. Tips 1. The two item combo is enough food for 2 people AT LEAST, maybe even 3 people. Portions are good here! 2. After years of coming here, I was disappointed with the service. The food is good, not great but good however getting expensive for the quantity, they are very stingy with the amount of food they pack. When they charged my order, I asked 'oh you increased your price again", their response "it's been the same for the last two years", that's a lie, this has increased twice within the last two years, including the market Island Pacific. Mostly turned off with the recent service. You can't get through calling them cause there number is out of service. You can call the market but they don't answer either and they just let it ring. So I decided to come over and pick up the menu and get some pricing, needed to get ready for Christmas. They stated as long as "we order 3-days prior to the day they can take the order". Well I was able to come in 4 days prior and low behold they said "sorry we stopped taking orders, we stop this morning". They didn't stick to their word and I guess they are not like other catering restaurants. I inquired with Chow King, they are able to take orders same day however, I really wanted Filipino food and decided to order at Grill City, they took my order with no problem. I've never had problems in Grill City. Another local, If ever you have a chance to go to Suisun City stop by 3J's Asian Market at Marine Center for some AWESOME Filipino food. One of my favorite spots for Filipino breakfast. This place is located inside the Island Pacific. They have an eating area inside. The best deal is the breakfast. The food here is better than Grill city (the place inside seafood city). The breakfast usually comes with two choices of meat (can't be the same), garlic fried rice, an egg, and coffee (upon request). The breakfast never misses, and it's always good. The a la carte is lowkey expensive. A small is $6.72 and a medium was 9.75. The staff is always nice and attentive. The bbq on a stick is really good here too, but I usually come in the morning so they're not yet cooked. I enjoy this place and definitely recommend that you try the breakfast or if you're craving some Filipino food and can't get your hands on any/cook then go here. Whenever friends come for a visit, there a "Manny" fight on, almost all special occasions, we order most of our food from the little "Deli" inside of "PhilHouse". But today, all that change because of the truly rude, hurtful services from cashier "Freda" #43! I do not know if it was racial, because I am "Black" or it because of my dress! I was only going to the local car wash, but my wife text me and ask me to bring a little something home to eat before the 49ers football came on, I could have stopped at Grill City, inside of Seafood City, we live in the Pocket area, but I had a taste of the delicious food at PhilHouse! But Ms. Freda changed all that! She completely embarrassed me in front of other customers, I was requesting some Lechon kawali fried, she quoted me the price of the Lechon, she did not do that to the people right in front of me, maybe she thought I could not afford to pay, they requested Lechon also, I also requested a drink, mistakenly talking about the desert, she immediately corrected me in a very rude manner, which was not necessary. We/my wife was truly upset and encourage me to write this letter, considering we spend over $1000-$1200 monthly there, because we are always having visitors and a large family, we are always sending packages to the Philippines, we take groceries and food to families and friends that live in Reno and Tahoe, when they come here, we all go there shopping. I went yesterday, April 2nd at around 4pm. I was in line and order combo #2. When I got to the cashier, she told me that my order is not next in the queue and that she will serve the person behind me. The person behind me was still ordering when my order got done and I was there first. This place does not have any organization. The food is not good, bland, not authentic. I asked for the manager and she told the cashier to let me have the food for free. I have money to pay for my order, I just need them to be respectful and be fair. The person behind me was speaking with the cashier in the same dialect and she was ordering fried smelt when I was listening to their conversation while in line ahead of her. My suggestion to this place is do not make a special preference because you are friends with the customer. Any customer is always right. When I was there, a lady was picking up her pre-ordered food and they could not even find her afritada. Very sad and the worst customer service. They are rude, they talk in their own dialect so they just talk among themselves. Some of the servers are rude, especially the Visayan talking lady. The manager does not even have reactions with customers, she just paces back and forth and pretty happy to be just filling the containers with food and not really managing. I am okay paying for a bland and unsavory food as long as I get the best customer service. The recent change to the taste of their food, maybe to cut costs, is noticeable. Maybe they have a new cook but Filipinos would still want authentic Filipino food from time to time but bland/unsavory food plus worst customer service is just not acceptable. We work hard for our money, we just want the experience to be worth it. To stay in business, you need customer service. On Sundays, when the line is long, we just need to be respected and be served when alas we are next in line. No special treatment. I have lived in Elk Grove for 34 years and followed rules of falling in line but this place does not have any sense of that at all. Have respect, we are all human beings. When the rude server I think was about to go on break. she suddenly said to the other server "Ate servan mo nga ung babaeng nakadilaw, maarte eh" I'm actually next to the lady. This place has a better selection and more varieties of dishes to choose from compared to Grill City inside Seafood City Supermarket. You can choose from 3 combo plates which comes with a side of rice or pancit and 1, 2, or 3 side dishes depending on which one you choose. I got combo 1 for $5.50 and I got rice with sisig. My BF got combo 2 for $7.25 with rice, lechon, and a creamy chicken dish (forgot what it was called). At first he wanted to get the BBQ but he said it looked dry, so he ended up not getting it. I really enjoyed the sisig. It wasn't the traditional sisig but it was still good. It was flavorful and if you like black pepper, you will like this dish. It had a peppery taste to it with onions and bell peppers. The chicken dish was good as well. The meat was soft and I liked the sauce. Lechon wasn't bad either, some of the skin could've been more crisper. I had a piece and the skin was not crispy at all. We also got melon juices and it was really good. There's a brand new supermarket in the area. Filipino and Pacific Islander supermarket to be more direct. I was so excited when I saw it open on grand opening day. The supermarket isn't as big as I thought it was, but Philhouse is a restaurant within the supermarket. The restaurant is like a cafeteria style restaurant. It's located as soon as you walk through the door. Has a lot of good seating for everyone, probably not for massive parties or anything unless you want to take over several tables of yourselves--but that's kind of selfish. Anyways, when you are ordering the food, you have to stand in line with the rest of the individuals ordering in line! A bit ridiculous if you ask me especially if someone in front of you is ordering a whole bunch of food. The girls that put my plate together didn't do a very good job. They gave me all the fatty pieces and didn't even give me that much. For $7 a plate with 2 sides, they were really skippy on the actual amount they gave me. Kind of ridiculous. Then when I get to the register, people who were behind me were getting their orders before me. Isn't everything in sequential order?
