The hubs and I were out looking at real estate and decided to stop here for what we hoped would be a great Mexican lunch. First impressions were promising. The entrance and overall ambiance were really nice, and the gentleman who seated us was pleasant and friendly. The bar area was cute and had a great vibe, so initially I was feeling pretty good about our choice. That changed a little when we realized chips and salsa were an additional charge. For a Mexican restaurant, that didn't feel like the most welcoming touch, but we ordered them anyway--and they were actually very tasty. For our entrees, we both ordered taco salads. I had the steak taco salad, and unfortunately, it was exceptionally disappointing. The steak was not a good grade and was fat fatty . There were no beans, rice, pico de gallo, or really any of the extras I would expect in a good taco salad. The shell was greasy and tasted as though it had been fried in old oil. My husband ordered the shrimp taco salad. The dressing wasn't very good, the shrimp portion was skimpy, and overall the salad had an odd taste that neither of us enjoyed. Unfortunately, the entire experience ended up feeling pretty lackluster. I love Mexican food and genuinely thought we might have stumbled upon a little gem based on the atmosphere and first impression. We wanted to eat somewhere new for dinner and there were a few items on the menu that intrigued us, so we came for an early Friday dinner. I was surprised to see the inside nearly full already that early in the evening! The decor and colors are vibrant and inviting. If it weren't so hot, we would have tried to enjoy their outdoor patio, which looked equally exciting. When we were seated, they dropped off a million different menus. Definitely a lot to look at and decide from. I chose the passionfruit mango mocktail, but it was the skinniest glass full of ice so I felt like the $8 price tag was a rip off. It tasted like pineapple more than anything, which was strange because that wasn't listed on the menu, but it did come with a dried pineapple garnish. We started off with the happy hour ceviche, which was a pretty decent amount for the price. It was good, but wish it did have a little bit more acidity and even some spice to give it a little bit of flavor. My husband and I shared the elote ribs and the elote pasta. The corn ribs looked pretty, but overall didn't have that elote feel because it wasn't super creamy or spicy. The elote pasta was good, but after adding on shrimp, it was not worth $22. It was a good pasta dish, but again wouldn't really consider it elote. It was just pasta with corn thrown on top. I think our kids bean burrito was the biggest portion of all. It was huge and lasted a couple meals for both of them and even came with French fries.. but no complaints there and I actually thought it was pretty good myself. We had the tres leches cake for dessert, but I wasn't very impressed. It wasn't soaked long enough, so it did not have that rich creamy texture that you would usually find. Overall, the reviews I had heard from friends were that this place was just mediocre, and unfortunately, my experience was exactly the same. read more

The food was pretty good! They have this really good corn rib appetizer that was my favorite. The service was great. Our waitress was really quick and friendly. Between their bomb tacos and drink specials, Pig Latin is a vibe! We went here for Cinco de Mayo and to celebrate my bday and had a great time. My quesabirria tacos were fire and I liked the breakfast tacos too, even tho what was listed as a tortilla on the menu turned out to be a pancake and a heavier meal than I was prepared for. Tacos and tequila pours were 50% off yesterday, and we took advantage with several of us ordering multiple dishes to try different flavors (each taco order has 2 tacos). We also had several rounds of tequila shots , which also made it a great opportunity for me to try several brands I was curious about. The chips and salsa were good and despite how busy it was, our waiter kept the chips flowing. I loved the colorful back patio and am looking forward to returning for happy hour sometime. A group of friends and I decided on dinner for Cinco de Mayo and since it was a Tuesday they have 50% off Tacos and Tequila all day long. My friend made reservations since the restaurant gets busy. We originally had reservations for 4 but quickly changed to 6. We went with outdoor seating, however the table we were at barely fit all of us and we are literally squished together. We asked the waiter if we could sit at the table behind us, but he refused. The space was small we were knocking our drinks over and hardly enough space for our food. Please do better with this. We ordered house Tequila shots, Unicorn, patron and so much more tequila. Tacos we ordered the Angel, surf n turn, queso Birria, short rib and breakfast. Our service was less than pleasing though we were patiently waiting. We probably ended up filling up mostly on chips and salsa as our food took forever. Some of us just asked for boxes to take our food home. We get our check and it had to be corrected, we were charged for food we never received. Oh, and the waiter dropped the ball big time missing orders that were placed. I would definitely give this place another chance only because it was busy. In the same front dining room as us, there was a large party seated, few customers at the bar, and a few tables occupied on the patio. So we looked over the menu and waited for about 10 minutes. No server. The hostess brought over some waters. Waited another 10 minutes. No server. By this point I'm hangry. I went to the host station and when she came back, I said we were ready to order and have not seen a server. She profusely apologized and said there is only 1 server. One server for the entire restaurant?!!! That's ridiculous. I should've asked for the manager, but instead we just left. We will never go back to Pig Latin! read more

A true party vibe and they way they have the outside lounge designed with the bar open to both sides is great. Nice wall murals and a real tropical vibe. On the other hand, parking is an issue as this place is located off of Stockton blvd just near the off ramp so it can get pretty busy at times Service: Staff is great quick and attentive. Quick turnaround on drinks and they seem to be pretty knowledgeable and give great recommendations on drinks. Food/Drinks: Where this place hits is the appetizers and drinks. They have a wide variety but I am a real sucker for their elote ribs. Also special shoutout to the Smoke Guacamole and Chips and Maduras. As far as drinks they have a nice variety but I enjoyed their Carajillo (Mexican Espresso Martini) and the old Cuban. This place definitely is worth a visit! read more

Celebrated some ladies birthdays last night here at pig Latin. The restaurant is intimate and so pretty! Decor was gorgeous. Our servers were excellent! They were attentive and so nice! We had ordered a pitcher of the chili passion margarita.. it was delicious! Gave us all a little buzz .. a couple of us girls shared the elote Riblets! Soooo good! A must! We also had ceviche .. which i didn't try sorry but my friend said it was delicious. I had the chicken pasta and some of the shrimp à la Diabla .. the rice that came with it was really moist and good.. the shrimp wasn't as spicy as most shrimp à la diabla I've had before . This was a first time check in and thanks for my Yelp Family for finding this great spot. The Ambiance was amazing seemed like I was on vacation, there was every ethnicity which made the vibe even better. The food was delicious I had the Carne Asada Tacos! We sat outside to enjoy the weather, food, music and an ice cold drink.. The reason it's not five stars although should be is we had to wait quite some time for our drinks to arrive especially when other tables that sat after us got drinks before us. What a great delight for our party of 15 on an early Saturday. Great service, food was delicious, and the ambiance so fun. The decor at this establishment was colorful and fun and we will Defintily be back. This place is not so kid friendly so I'd suggest fun spot for an adult night out. The vibe is vibrant and young and they really did a good job in investing on the decor and details of the restaurant. Get the Costillas! Thats it, thats all you need to know about this place, thank you bye! Ok ill do more of a review but as you can guess I really enjoyed the Costillas. They were well cooked and the Citrus-Ancho BBQ sauce was so tasty. We sat at the bar and had a lot of different amazing drinks including. Strawberry negroni and carajillo, among others. We ordered a-lot of different food to share and the standouts were the corn riblets and Costillas. The bartenders were great and friendly. The space is vibrant inside, and the large patio area is perfect for big groups or celebrations, plenty of room to relax, eat, and enjoy the atmosphere. I'm pretty glad that we have a restaurant and bar like Pig Latin. It was such a cute place to begin with, and after not having visited for a while, they have added a lot of cool decor (especially since it's the holidays), as well as a tent outdoors to keep you warm and safe from the elements! My friend and I came here for their happy hour special, which is Wednesday through Friday (3-6 pm), in which they have discounts on appetizers, tacos, and drinks. They also have specials on Mondays for margaritas and tacos on Tuesdays. My friend and I got two drinks each, and overall, I'd say they were balanced (as the waitress mentioned) and STRONG, which is a good value! We also got their ceviche. It was overall a standard ceviche, and it came with 2 very crunchy tostadas (I liked the texture). I wished it came with more tostadas for how much ceviche there is. I would say the fish is a bit fishy. We also ended up ordering two orders of tacos. Unfortunately they ran out of pork belly, so we opted for the jerk chicken. The jerk chicken is essentially shredded chicken, which it was a bit on the drier side. The lime was helpful. I can't recall exactly which of the meats we got for the other taco, but it was solid, and I remembered it being well seasoned. Service was very friendly! I really wanted to give this place 5 stars based on the food and drink; however, the non-food-and-drink issues knock a star off.... when we first arrived, we were greeted by some way-to-loud music being blasted throughout the restaurant by some random DJ dude sitting outside (this was during sunday brunch time). since the music was so loud inside, we opted to sit outside (which wasn't great either since the music was still fairly loud & it was on the chilly/breezy side). when we got to our table outside, the fabric seats had a bunch of random food/grease spots.... when we got our menus, they were covered in nasty food/grease splotches. thankfully, things started to turn around.... our server was a very pleasant gentleman.. and, we ordered all our stuff immediately since we were pretty hungry and dining around 1p. the cocktails came out pretty quickly, and they were excellent. I tried the el pepe (fig leaf infused gin, ancho verde, guava, coconut bergamot) and the mariachi (vanilla vodka, passion fruit, pineapple, mango, lime, cava). both drinks were very nicely balanced. you tasted the alcohol up front without having the bitter aftertaste. the fruit flavors were fresh yet did not overpower the drinks. I think they were $15 a pop, which I felt was very fair considering the quality and number of ingredients in each cocktail. these were among the best I've had in town. onto the food... - elote ribs (corn ribs dusted with brown sugar and PL tajin & sprinkled with cotija cheese and microcilantro): this was a great way to start the meal. while the corn itself was probably not the most freshly prepared, the flavors of the toppings were great. I usually think mayo and more tang when I think "elote", and those were absent from this dish, but it was still pretty great. I'd get'em again. - baja shrimp tacos (fried shrimp marinated in pico de gallo, topped with charred cabbage slaw, pineapple-habanero aioli): I'd return for these tacos alone. these were great. the tangy slaw paired perfectly with the wonderful shrimp. I love the tortillas that they use. they're tasty and durable. they hold up nicely to all the filling without falling apart. definitely get these. - jerk chicken tacos (marinated & smoked jerk chicken paired with a mixed cabbage slaw and habanero-thyme mayo): this was good too, but not nearly as good as the shrimp tacos. I liked the heat from the jerk chicken. some tasty tacos, but I'll probably try a different taco when I return. - bean & rice: I tried this as an add-on to one of the taco plates. pass. the beans are fine; though, I'd prefer some monterey jack instead of the small sprinkling of cotija cheese.. and the rice was just very, very mediocre. as much as I liked the food & drink, the main thing that would give me 2nd thoughts about returning was the overall service. While the host & servers were very pleasant, the food just took too damn long. the drinks and appetizer came out in a timely manner, but our tacos took forever... it looked like there were a couple bachelorette parties going on, but otherwise, they didn't seem too busy.. and those big parties had already been served their food before we had even ordered. I'm pretty sure there was only one server for the whole place; this was definitely true for the outside area (which is the majority of the seating for the restaurant). there were a couple runners, but they weren't servers... and, it turns out that the sole server on duty was also the sole bartender on duty. maybe I just came at a bad time and/or someone called out sick. i dunno. read more

Genuinely unsure of what to make of this place but maybe 3.5 rounded up for now? It's very atmospheric/vibey inside--has the potential to be intimate, but leans strongly toward more of a late night social hour spot setting where you have to yell a little over the music. Food-wise: Chips and salsas are good, unimpressed by the desserts, but I still think the interior is pretty cool! I did hear that they have a taco special on Tuesdays, so that might be worth visiting for. read more

Yet still, not warm enough for this desert rat, so we opted for a booth for two in the corner. Our server greeted us quickly, took our drink order and food order. Oddly, the food was at our table within ten minutes and the drinks followed a little after. I scratched my head on how food arrived first but my friend and I both noticed the meat was cold. Still, the tacos tasted great with pineapple salsa. Sadly, after our server brought the drinks at the beginning of our experience, we never saw him again until the end. No "how's the food" or "another round of drinks?" So, yeah, the ambiance is off the charts and that's where it ended for this visit. Pig Latin is awesome! I've been a few times, and it always has great fun vibes. It's got this Mediterranean feel with an amazing indoor-outdoor bar that's perfect for hanging out with some friends. The food is fantastic. The tacos are fresh and packed with flavor, and the elote ribs are a so freakin good. For drinks, J at the bar is the man, you can't go wrong with any of the drinks he makes. What a wonderful restaurant! I was a little worried that all the effort went into the ambiance and aesthetic (which is such a vibe btw). But thankfully, that wasn't the case.
