Hi, I as well as my nanay have been regulars to this place for years as well as the one in Canoga Park, which in my opinion has better barbecue than the one over here. We love to come here because of the uncanny things we witnessed at this place in Island Pacific. Good uncanny things like winning at the scratchers sometimes and the food is good over here. I do not want to be a "Busy Bettie" but the food, just like other Filippino food is fattening, thick, yet delicious if Aunt Jemima was real she would feel quite at home since it to is comfort food. But there are alternatives like the Jackfruit "Lanka" with coconut milk and Bicol Express. Pinakbet is another choice but it's not purely vegetarian it has meat with peanut butter, and kabocha, and green beans. I wish they would had made some Filipino spaghetti better than Jollibee but I haven't seen anyone suggesting it to the staff. There is Max's chicken across from there and there is Honerè Bakery, there were two other restaurants that closed down but one of them I tried and liked it but the other it was kind of like a coming soon. The Crab Mentality was good but I think the price was mattaas (high). What I have to say about this location about the people there you would of thought that since the location is high end, you would of thought they were snobbish or to privileged, but they are very friendly like some places like in Canoga Park as well. We are like normal people as much as they are and they treat us with the utmost respect (sometimes). The problem about this establishment is that there should be more TVs to watch shows on and well I do like the karaoke when the staff brings it out. The reason why I rated this PhilHouse three stars and it is sorta OK is because even thought I know them for years, the staff treats me like a stranger. If nanay (mom) were to open up to them more then it would have been different, but I haven't called it out on her yet. The place is somewhat very loud when it was busy full of people on a Wednesday for BOGO deal. But on other days not so much. if the staff have a better sound system for the karaoke now we are talking. There is a big fan blowing from the table where Crab Mentality used to be is very refreshing on a hot summer's day, while there are complaints I rather want to complement them on a job well done and give them five stars anyway. read more

Came in to buy breakfast and the lady that's serving the food - she looks like in early or mid or late 50's with long falsey lashes has a really bad attitude. She's not fit to provide a very good customer service. She seems like she is not happy with her job. The way she asked me what Inlike was very rude and also the entire tike I was observing her served me, my friend and other customers was very rude, she has no manners - the way she talks to the customers is just very disrespectful and "bastos". The same with the cashier, she kinda like the same age as the lady server, I asked for a bag and she just grabe it next to her and throw it at me without even looking at nenor saying anything. @Island Pacific management, owners Mr and Ms Lim - please retrain all your staff to provide good and professional customer service, the attitude of your ataff here and in Canoga Park Phil House as well are all rude and bastos. I give this place 4/ 5. Wednesday is BOGO sale. Full staff on deck. They were very helpful, very welcoming and will help your order. Although the place has few tables, they do get busy and full on time primetime hours. The place was clean and well lighted and good hospitality 5/5. We ordered sisig, humba,Dinuguan, beef pares with 2 rice. It was cooked well and flavorful 5/5. Parking is shared with other vendors but lots of space. We were coming back to the Valley from Descanso Gardens with our daughter and granddaughter. The request had already been put in for Filipino food. A lot of the Filipino places close at 8:00 instead of 9:00, so it was a close call to make it before they packed it up for the night. We walked into Seafood City and up to PhilHouse with about 12 minutes to spare. Despite that, they still had a decent selection of menu items to choose from, which was a pleasant surprise. The dishes also looked like they were still pretty fresh, not prepared many hours before. I went with a basic combo order of half rice / half pancit, and chicken adobo. The pancit, while (of course!) not as good as Dear Hubby's auntie's, was still flavorful and hit the spot. The chicken adobo's seasoning was spot on, and the sauce went very well with the rice. It was a little bit on the side of having excessive fat, but the chicken was tender. DH makes a superior chicken adobo, so this wouldn't give him a run for his money, but I did like the taste on a cool evening. Sweet Granddaughter enjoyed having pancit and rice, so she was a happy camper. Her mother and DH were much more adventuresome, ordering other dishes with which I don't have that much familiarity, other than having heard the names. As the food court area was closing up for the night, we took everything to go and went back to the kids' house to eat. Portions were generous, no one went away from the table hungry, and we had leftovers to take home, too. I would be happy to order from PhilHouse again. I'm having leftovers for dinner as I type this review, actually. The adobo and rice taste really great re-heated. The pancit a little bit less so. Still, it's hearty comfort food. The signage and appearance of the PhilHouse area of the food court area within Seafood City was colorful and clean. First of all, lots of parking BUT with all of the other shops around, it can get packed. Also this place tends to be busy especially if you come right around the rush hour where everyone is buying lunch/dinner for their family. Staff are friendly though and speak good English. My non-Filipino bf was able to order his stuff and ask questions with ease lol. I really like their bbq pork skewers, haven't tried much of their other stuff but will definitely be coming back to try more! They have some seating inside but most people just take it home to enjoy. I normally go the Philhouse at the other island pacific location in Canoga park but went to this area because of going to target across the street. This location is harder to get into because the parking is awful and it's definitely busier. The line moves at a glacial pace so be patient. They have combo options but note they charge extra for the more popular items. So a 3 item combo can get over $20 after tax. That said, I love the food, the employees are lovely and there is always a great selection. There is also seating if you want to eat there, which they don't have at the other location. They have BoGo on Wednesday so go there if you want a good deal but not it'll be super busy probably. read more

I would always go here to pick up food and would typically eat during weekends since its accessible. All I can say is that some days food is good and some days it just isnt up to par. There was a time I found a LONG strand of hair in my food. I didn't want to make a big fuss about it because we are filipinos and I Wanted them to correct the situation without creating discomfort. They did not give me refund but instead replaced the food so i thought everything was fine at that point. I ordered 3 item combo-caldereta, piork adobo and adobong pusit through doordash. The caldereta was disgusting. The sauce was almost as dark as the pusit and it tasted simply like worsterchire sauce. I am not sure why people stand in line for this turo-turo joint. I saw the long line so I decided to give the food a try thinking the food would be outstanding. I've had tried this place once before at their Oxnard location and it was below average Filipino food as well. I don't think I've had tasty Filipino food inside a Filipino grocery store before including Grill City inside Seafood City locations. I ordered the following items: Ukoy - it was just chewy and unlike any ukoy I've tasted before. It was difficult to swallow and probably will throw away after one bite and throwing it in the fridge... sayang. (Lilian's is better) Pork BBQ skewer - tough and strange gas taste. I chose the pork over chicken becasue there were a few sticks left. (The expanding Tony's Barbecue chainlet has better Filipino barbecue) Laing - it was bland and had no flavor (Bamboo Bistro and Lilian's are probably better options in the Valley -- Kusina Filipino in Eagle Rock is my favorite) Chicken skin with spiced vinegar (the winner) -- I've never had bad chicken skin before. Service was outstanding by the entire team. That is the one thing that made my experience memorable. If they can improve their recipes for these dishes, I would probably go back but I think two bad experiences with the taste of the their food in Oxnard and now Granada Hills are enough for now. I have been shopping at Island Pacific for months now since it opens, I have been buying here at PHILHOUSE and the staff in the afternoon are nice and very friendly until today when I did bought a breakfast meal. I met this lady name Eden, she is so mean. I start my day early morning around 8:10 am, Wanting to try their breakfast before I go to work. She is not pleasant to her customer, she is frowning and I felt that she do not want to work because she has been ignoring me since I start ordering.
