The day when I got to try and taste the beauty of Filipino food. When you enter the family market, you are introduced to the snacks, condiments, drinks, and some decorations about the Filipino culture and tradition and delicious snacks to give to family and friends or for yourself. There were lots of great Filipino snacks to munch on, but I sadly did not get anything. Because my main goal and priority was to try their delicious food. I ordered a to go container and got a lot of delicious proteins and carbs. I would highly recommend this to everyone who has never tried Filipino food, this place is the right place, and the place that you should try first! The staff were very welcoming and happy and excited to serve their customers walking in. 10 out of 10 stars for this Filipino family markets. And I will be back soon! By the way, the TURON is to die for!! my mouth waters every time I think of it.

This place is mostly famous for their Turon. Just the right amount of crunch to sweetness ratio. I especially love that they have catering trays for everything you would want to bring to a filipino party. You can order their Turon in orders of 5 or more which gives you plenty of options if you want people to share. The pieces are pretty long so my tip would be to cut them in half to feed more mouths. Last time I went I got their lumpia and pancit bihon. My goodness!! Delicious and so fresh. The noodles I ate for days even after the party but everyone enjoyed it. I like the thin and thick noodles so happy they offered more than just the traditional pancit. Plenty of lumpia sauce was given and was thankful they hooked it up. The team at Chaaaste is phenomenal!! Honestly everyone is so friendly and kind. They always ask me about my day and curious where I'm going with all their delicious food. So family oriented and you could tell they put a lot of love into their food. I especially love seeing the Lola's and Aunties behind the counter at the register. So sweet! They have a small parking lot but I never had issues parking. There are always spots open. It's in a small plaza, but they offer everything you could need filipino. There's even a convenience store and some steam table staples available throughout the day. Their longanisa is fire and can't go wrong with anything they have hot and fresh. Truly a treat to get something from here so come for your parties, come for the snacks, or just come for ready to go food. They have it all!!

When we walked in, there was a full jazz band made up of what looked like high school students playing. Despite there only being a few families in the audience(presumably their parents), the energy was infectious with loud whoops and clapping every time someone finished a solo. I didn't know any of these kids but I was cheering the entire time. Everyone, including the other customers were very friendly. The food itself was incredible, super affordable with huge portions. Every dish we tried was so delicious, we couldn't stop talking about how good the food was. I ordered the Pork Sisig and it could've easily fed 3 people alone. Both of my roommates also ordered their own entrees and the portions were huge. Definitely a restaurant for sharing. The service was fantastic, the server was refilling my water cup every few minutes and incredibly attentive. While looking for a quick meal we came upon a Filipino feast with live music, a super positive atmosphere, and leftovers that will last us for days. Couldn't recommend this place enough.

I grew up eating and seem to be consistent each time I order. And they always provide friendly and professional customer service on the phone or in person. I highly recommend their Lumpia Shanghai and I am honestly pretty impressed with their Kare Kare, which is often a hit or miss at other locations, but here it is consistent both in flavor and portions. I ate here in person once years ago and usually do takeout. The ambience though is very nice and intimate and cozy... And I understand that they have live music from time to time. I highly recommend you give them a try!

They have silogs, which are like, some of my favorite things (tocilog is my weakness, but I'll also take a longsilog). We got a tocilog and a dasilog (also called a bangsilog in other places), a miki bihon, and another standalong bangus, and two turon (I was super excited and got way too much food). So, the food is solid, but not like, stand out special. The tocino that I got was an alarming shade of red, but it was DELICIOUS and tender. My partnjer also very much enjoyed the daing, which came in a very generous portion (we now have way too much fried fish at home, but I'm not complaining). The pancit, which we got vegetarian, was solid. I mean, everything was...solid. The garlic rice was fine - I felt the quality of the rice itself could have been a bit better, but the food is good. The service was friendly, and the place itself has a handful of seating options, and was very clean. So here's the thing. Some of their pancits have vegetarian options. However, they don't substitute more protein (like tofu) in, they simply take out the meat they would have put in. But they charge the same amount. I had asked if they could put the chicken on the side, and they weren't able to do that for some reason. I would prefer if they gave me the option for meat on the side, OR (as a more general feedback for their menu) to take a couple dollars off the price if you're just taking the meat out and not substituting it with anything. Because it made me feel like I was getting less, but paying the same amount. That being said, this is going to feed us for a good while. I'm on the fence as to whether or not I'll go back (I mean, I likely will, but this might not be a regular stop). There are other places with silog that are also really good.

You might experience a slight wait for your meal, but it is certainly worth it. As a Southern California Filipina, born and raised in San Diego, and with a chef for a father, I have had the pleasure of trying various styles of kare-kare. Alongside the kare-kare, the bagoong (cooked shrimp paste) is equally important. I wouldn't even consider eating kare-kare without bagoong. If the bagoong is not up to par, the kare-kare is not as satisfying. This was my very first experience with Crispy Kare-Kare, and I am definitely planning to return to Almuchow to savor one of my favorite Filipino dishes again. Bagoong is an acquired taste. My husband dislikes its aroma and flavor, which is why he doesn't particularly enjoy kare-kare. The quality of the kare-kare is intrinsically linked to the bagoong. If the bagoong is not prepared correctly, it can diminish the entire dish. I am definitely looking forward to returning for their Crispy Kare-Kare!

It's a big bonus that there are Filipino food to grab in the area!!! All of the dishes were delicious and was filling. The home style cooking of Filipino food warmed us up. The chicken inasal comes with dark meat (leg and thigh) and it was juicier and more flavorful than others I've tried. I paired it with the pork sisig entree and the egg was cooked perfectly. My entrée came with two slices of cucumber and two slices of tomato. The pork was mostly tender. My girlfriend got the pork belly adobo. She found it to be very flavorful, but the pork wasn't as tender as she would like. Forks were forgotten to be included, but luckily, I had some.
