After reading so many good/great reviews of this place I had to try it while in town. What a mistake. I took one bite and then had to throw the rest away. Got the double meat double cheese and the entire roll was so soggy from the juice that it was inedible. It was absolutely horrible and I was so looking forward to a good cheese steak sandwich. Cook the beef thoroughly and drain all the grease/juice from the beef BEFORE placing the cheese on the beef. The cheese was liquid due to the excessive juice/grease from the beef. YUCK! read more

We were looking for a quick place while we headed out of Eureka down toward San Fran. So I got on yelp and looked for a place! Yelp didn't lead me wrong! Both my husband and I ordered the supreme Philly cheesesteak with mushrooms, bacon, onion and cheese. And oh my god was it AMAZING! It was probably one of the best philly cheese steaks I've ever had. Now keep it mind I haven't really lived or visited anywhere where like Philly that I can compare it to. But it was darn tasty. You got a lot of food for your money which is always a good thing in my book. And I ate it all! What made this place even better is the tasty kakes! Everything here is so salty. The only reason it gets two stars is because there's a good selection of ingredients for the sandwiches. I used to go a lot more when they had a good $5.00 lunch deal. Pretty damn good. I got the classic with cheddar cheese sauce. My only complaint would be the meat is under seasoned. In fact it lacked salt and pepper in a big way. This place is bomb! I love the double cheese cheese steak with extra grilled onion! They're pretty consistent with the food and definitely put love into their work! The staff is always very friendly and treat you as a part of the "philly family". They always remember you and your favorite sammy! I came here for the Tastycakes. I didn't try a cheese steak, but my girlfriend's mother did. She said it was great. Service was decent (for a transaction involving Tastycakes). The decor was very Philly - lots of Eagles and Phillies things around. I think one thing that might improve the Philadelphia experience, in my opinion, is maybe offer some soft pretzels as a snack. Don't get me wrong I love there food but the costumer service I got just made it a place that I will never go back to. They messed up on my order and when I just asked if they can fix it they told me no, that they would write my name down and next time I go in there they would only do a partial refund. I hoped that they may have improved since my last visit there, but alas not. Went in on a Friday night and the restaurant was completely empty, a bad sign. But the family was hungry and we were getting tired of the same old places in Eureka. Their menu had changed since my last visit, with more options but even higher price tags. But what really irritated me was the stupid little things they started to charge for, like peppers. Now they charge you per small container just to get some important add ons for a relatively tasteless steak, . Really silly Philly, just factor the price into your steaks and you will keep the customers from having to pay more for the fixings after they already paid once. Tried to mention that the surcharge was ridiculous and all I got back was a defensive and rude waitstaff. P.S If you really want to try a good cheese steak go home, chop up some steak or other meat and add cheese and cook, not rocket science and cheaper than their prices. Should have stuck with the yellow cheddar, they put white on if you don't ask for a certain one. The cheesesteaks were great. We had hoagie style with double cheese & caramelized onions. I had it with provolone & a side salad (croutons out of this world but not crazy about their blue cheese dressing) & hubby had white American cheese with fries. They have every imaginable type of cheesesteak you can think of. My only disappointment was the sandwiches could be larger. However the happy eccentric wait staff made up for it. The guy told me first we don't do delivery. I said you don't deliver with the foods here guy. He said yes but not till 5pm. By this time it was 459pm and then he hung up. I'm not a huge fan of cheese steaks because my tummy does not like cheese in big amounts but this cheese steak was perfect. The cheese was not overwhelming and the sweet teriyaki sauce was tangy. Have been going here for a couple of years and I loved it. I would order the same thing every time- it was good and consistent. But today it was all different. There must have been a change in ownership or something. My philly looked drastically different- mushy and a blah-beige color. I've passed this place for the past 3yrs living out here and finally gave it try last night. I'm originally from NY and have high expectations for philly cheese steaks. I ordered there garlic, mushroom and provolone cheese steak. I added jaleopenos and grilled onions. I enjoyed it very much but wish there was a little bit more cheese in it...which can be an easy fix next time by ordering extra cheese I suppose...besides that it was pretty damn good. all these great reviews, not this one. the lady was super nice, but this is about the food. when this place first opened down at 5th and G, it was to die for! after it moved, it was always hit and miss. this time was a huge miss! i had the garlic mushroom + mayo and a large fry and my husband had the mushroom no onion + mayo and chili cheese fry. the meat on both was WAYYYYY over done. no juiciness whatsoever, and you would think that with the mayo they would have been deliciously juicy and moist phillies. the chili cheese fries, the chili looked just like the beans came right from the can of beans and the flavor was inedible. my fries were soggy and barely warm. i hope they can get back to what they used to be, 31 bucks down the drain. if you decide to eat here, i wish you all the luck. read more

We come here whenever we're in Eureka. Being originally from Philly, where I once worked in a cheesesteak and pizza place, I miss real cheesesteaks and this is the most authentic one I've had anywhere on the west coast. I was never a fan of the whiz cheesesteaks and would say to the other yelper and anyone else unhappy about "food from a can," that they should try one with white American or provolone. My favorite is the pizza steak made with provolone and marinara sauce. It's interesting to read reviews that claim that the sandwich is too big or too small. My experience in Philly is that most are bigger than these, but I do appreciate the regular size here as I can finish it (although if I were being smart and making healthier choices, I really should just order the small!) The fries were just okay. The cheese fries here have cheese whiz so I didn't order them, but many places in Philly make a cheese sauce (if you've ever been to Chickie's and Pete's you've had this) or slices of white American melted over them--both of these options are better than cheese whiz. Don't let anyone tell you that Cheesewhiz is necessary for an authentic experience. Just like other regional foods like chili or gumbo, there are many variations on the cheesesteak. I would say the simpler--cheese, steak, onions maybe, and a (preferably Amoroso) roll is the more authentic route. While mushrooms, peppers, and other toppings might be good, I think the plain cheesesteak is probably most popular in Philly. That said, I always want marinara with it and maybe a toasted roll. read more
