Worst 'hot' dog ever -- dog was whatever temperature comes before lukewarm, and I guess a cheese dog means simply plopping some grated cheddar on it and calling it a day. Guess what, cooks? When that grated cheese isn't melted, it's just gonna end up in somebody's lap the first time they pick up the dog. It's the most simple thing in the world to make a dog appealing -- all you have to do is 1) make sure the dog is served hot and 2) melt the cheese. I went in to order a milk shake and chili dog, And a larger lady decided its alright to be rude towards me. I asked for light cheese and she responded with " its cheese or no cheese " The wait time was way to long for such a simple order, i waited 30 minutes for a milkshake and chili dog. Few time when we ordered our meal large we got a medium fry. when the restaurant is slow and has no customers, rather than the workers coming out to clean and bus tables and sweep food off the ground and from under the tables, the sit and chat. Went to tasty freeze because it's a work night and didn't want to cook. A yummy BLT with extra bacon and extra tomatoes and fries sounded tasty! Just terrible. I could have made it better at home. The bacon is charcoal on one side of the sandmich and undercooked on the other side. No xtra bacon, no xtra tomatoes. Did get xtra grease soaked bread. Food is normally really good, but the young cashier with the dark curly hair and glasses needs a lesson in customer service. She was rude to me, and polite to my male partner. She was also extremely rude to my toddler when she asked her a question. She has a horrible attitude that makes me never want to come here again. The rest of the workers we encounter are very polite. If you don't like working customer service, get a new job. You'll be happier, and so will customers. read more

Just ate a deluxe burger combo meal. It was horrible tasting, the burger only covered half of the small bun it was on., it was about 1/4" thick and was freezer burnt. Friendly counter service. Order at window and they'll call your name when your order is ready. Four outside tables plus additional seating, with four inside tables and 8 counter spaces. High chairs available. Preparation seemed like it took a long time and they weren't busy at all. Cheeseburgers were tasty. Fries were just okay. Unfortunately, on the day of our visit they were out of onion rings, so we didn't get to try them. Will likely try those or fried zucchini on a subsequent visit. read more

Where do I start? I'm pretty sure the burgers were a lot better back in the day when this place was new and bustling. Now it's just a shell of itself serving inedible food. The burger was overcooked and half the size of the bun. My favorite toppings were the wilted lettuce and pickles. The fries were soft and mealie, the consistency of a bad apple. Definitely not worth the $15 I spent. The service was OK, but no napkins were included in my to go order. There was also no way to take any ketchup or condiments to go. Crap ! The chili taste like it's been on the stove for two days and somebody just kept adding chili seasoning. It was so nasty. We took one bite and threw the rest away, but the fish was good. Really loved our first visit here! Cute atmosphere with decent burgers but the onion rings were perfect and the shakes were fantastic. This place is straight from the ole days. Cute little drive in Restaurant. My sister and i were staying in town and wanted a cheap eat on our way home. If you're local you remember going here after football games, or youth group -- sharing fries with a friends or scraping together enough change to buy a cone. If you're not a local this place will transport you back in time to when the simpler things were so exciting. Oldies playing on the radio, sprinkles on your ice cream, a cherry on top. Now that I'm older some of the things that really stand out about this gem of a drive in: The burgers are Humboldt grass-fed beef, the ice cream is Humboldt Creamery, and the service is consistently good. There's a wide array of shake flavors and some other options like floats and malts, but my forever favorite is the dipped cone!!! Service is just okay, not that one would expect anything other than okay service at a dive like this one. The quality of the desserts are sometimes inconsistent depending on who is making them. I usually get great cones but sometimes the dip is rather thin, leaning like the Tower of Pisa, or handed over in a complete drippy mess. I've gotten an occasional thin shake as well. The ice cream and milkshake is ok. Even the dipped cone was ok because the ice cream is not to a right mixture so when you bite into it, thr ice cream just literally melting. I like their sundaes. The indoor seating area is depressing and the outdoor seating is noisy. For the good vs bad, this is about a local business. I go here often. read more

Update: this place is a staple throughout California. When you see one you immediately know the vanilla dipped in chocolate will be as delicious as the first time you ever had it as a kid. Solid three stars. Cute little place, and carries the diner theme well. There's about 5 tables inside to eat at and some bar seating. Outside there's a few more tables when the weather is nice. I imagine a shake or dipped cone here on a summer day is delightful. Tonight we stopped in for some Chicken Strips and Fish & Chips. The food was made fresh and the helpings were plentiful. I would call this standard diner food quality. It's nothing to rave about but it hits the spot. It's close to home so I'll be coming back- with so many burgers and dogs on the menu- and sweet treats, I feel like I missed the mark on some good flavors. I haven't tasted a burger yet that can top the Humboldt special. I just love the shakes as well. I haven't gone here in a bit because the prices are getting way too high for a burger.
