Great food, slow service. I've been here 4-5 times over a few years span. Two things have been consistent: 1. The food is delicious. I usually get the traditional cheese steak for myself, and get the cheeseburgers for my kids. It's all very good. 2. Wait times are always right 30 minutes. It take sooooo long for this food to come out. It seems like the time doesn't change if there are orders before yours or if you're the only customer- you will still wait 30 minutes. Great friendly hoagie shop! We had the hoagies made to go as we were going to eat them later and they made sure to put the mayo on the side. The hoagies were full of meat and the toppings we desired. I have eaten from here several times now, and have never been disappointed once. I had only eaten there once in person until today. I was disappointed to learn today that the nice gentleman who I know mademy first sandwich there had passed away. Condolences to the family and the work family, he seemed like I nice fellow. But, he must've trained somebody well, because the food is just as good today as it was every other time. Nice sized sandwiches, well proportioned and well seasoned and almost no grease. Someone recommended this place to me for a good sandwich. I ordered roast beef and provolone with bacon and mayo. Sounds easy, right? Apparently not. I received crumbly and brown roast beef (meaning it was far from fresh), the sandwich didn't have any cheese or bacon. It did have oil & vinegar and a lot of salt, although I didn't ask for those things. I was able to eat the chips and drink the can of soda. I spent almost $25 dollars on the lunch in total. I'd been to Philly Cold Cuts a few years back but decided to stop in again for a quick bite before a movie. We were quickly greeted and were given some time to look over the menu. Since I didn't want a lot of food, I decided on the 7" Shorty size traditional Cheesesteak which comes with steak, grilled onions and American cheese. Since the combo came with fries and a drink, I also ordered cheese fries as well. We decided to dine in and the gentleman brought our food right to our table which was very nice. I was a tad bit disappointed with the amount of fries that was served but they tasted pretty good with the cheese. The Cheesesteak was mediocre. For a place that specializes in cheesesteaks, I was expecting a better quality steak but the bread was very soft and I loved the taste of the grilled onions. Overall, the staff was very nice and I love the different cheesesteak sizes but the food was sub par and I probably won't be returning unfortunately. read more

Noms! My boyfriend and I have been meaning to try this spot for a while now ever since I heard about them on the "I Heart VB" podcast a few months back. If you haven't listened to that podcast, I highly recommend it. It's awesome to hear the origin stories from some of our local business owners. Friday night takeout was the night this week. We didn't go all out, just ordered two traditional cheesesteaks just how they come - on one we added grilled mushrooms and the other added mayo, lettuce and tomato. We also got a small cole slaw and cheese fries order. We used the website for our order which was quick and easy and headed out about 20 mins early for the quoted pickup time hoping it would be ready sooner. I think the computer orders give a standard 30 minute window for pickup bc our order was ready when we arrived. Inside is clean and neat with plenty of seating and a fountain drink area. They are observing the COVID protocols inside the store. These smelled so good I could barely make it home before tearing into them, I'm glad we are only about 5 minutes away! The cheese steaks were excellent, fresh and cheesy and delicious with a generous portion of chopped steak. Noms. The sub rolls were to die for, super yummy. My boyfriend is from New Jersey and has had quite a few "authentic" cheesesteaks in his life from living and traveling through Philly and said these were pretty close to perfect. He really enjoyed his. Mine was delicious and the real treat were those huge curled, thick French fries. Yummmm. As another reviewer noted, the cheese dip is like the kind you get on nachos at a baseball game. Delicious, but probably no real cheese in them, haha. The coleslaw was a pretty big portion (8 oz.) for $1.50 or so, and it was creamy and tangy (tasted like maybe some horseradish?) with a slight kick. We enjoyed it. Overall, this was a great experience, super quick food, orders were made correctly, food was fresh and yummy, and ordering and pick-up were a breeze. As a gal who grew up in Philly, this place is solid for cheesesteaks. I always look forward to coming here when I visit my family who relocated to Virginia Beach! I've been to two of the locations for this place, and I find this one to make better, gooier cheesesteak and crispier fries. I can't believe I've never reviewed it! Wow! It's been over two years since my original review of Philly Cold Cuts. I have now dined with them three times, second was probably a year ago. Nothing has really changed is the easiest way to sum up this update. The dining room had a clean appearance and tables wiped off. The one staff was friendly and immediately assisted me with my order and offered suggestions. My order the small Philly with provolone, fries and fountain drink. My card processed with no issues. The drink station is up front and they offer Pepsi products. The Mountain Dew was fizzy deliciousness. The order was out in less than 10 minutes. The fries have changed since my last visit. New ones are thick curly wedges. Everything was hot, but to me just above average. Their old fries are preferred. The Ambrosia bread was authentic. Overall good meal, ate every bite. For whatever reason I like their original location off Great Neck best. The taste seem more agreeable to me. I may not rush back, but I'm not disappointed either. read more

The service was pretty warm, they were friendly-ish but if you set the tone with a smile and whatnot they match your energy. However, I got a medium philly and fries. The fries were pretty good, but this Philly... tasted like a unseasoned roast beef, the fixings also tasted unseasoned as hell. I have been thinking about coming to Philly Cold Cuts, and today is that day. The first thing I noticed after I ordered my food was that the restaurant looks a little run down. Run down as in the floors and ceiling looked like they belong to the previous tenant or just have a really old design. This place does have artwork, but it honestly can not cover the feeling that this place is old. Customer service here was alright. One of the employees was really nice when I ordered my food and even came by to check on me. The reason I say it is alright is because it took quite some time for them to prepare my food. For the chicken philly I had there, it was average at best. It tasted alright but tasted very bland for a philly and it had lots of juices in it that got over my jacket. This place is not terrible but it's just alright if your looking for a philly sub. #4/2020 This is my other go-to spot for cheesesteaks. Wanna know a secret? I almost always 99% of the time order chicken cheesesteaks. It's so good! I've also had the traditional Philly cheesesteaks and it's equally delicious. I like that they offer 7" shorties but I always for the 10" MediYum. Add grilled mushrooms and jalapenos and bam. They serve it to ya hot and fresh. Be prepared to burn the roof of your mouth and the tip of your tongue at the first bite. Small lil place but it's alright! Bright, clean, and fast service all with a smile. Kinda high in price after you make it a fries and drink combo meal but I don't mind for good food. Can we just talk about how excited I am to have an A+ deli joint so close to my office? My husband and I stopped in to check out Philly Cold Cuts on a Saturday around 12:30 before heading over to Green Flash. It's quaint and sandwiched (see what I did there?) in the Red Mill Landing shops beside a Bon Secours office. When we first walked in, we were warmly greeted and immediately noted how clean and bright the place is - not even a drip or straw wrapper near the drink machines. There's a great selection of sandwiches and a couple of salads to choose from. I'm normally a salad girl, but I couldn't go into a philly sandwich shop and not get a philly. Hubby ordered a "mediyum" (10") steak traditional style. I had the 10" chicken steak hoagie style with no cheese. The young man who took our order was very kind and confirmed our order for us. Our sandwiches were HUGE with a ton of meat! Next time, we will get the large for $3.00 more and split it - the large is literally 2 medium sandwiches side by side! Both were on point and delicious! My chicken had a good kick of black pepper and the mushrooms and onions were grill-cooked to perfection. I wish I had kept the cheese, because my husband's steak was so good! It probably would have cut down the bite of the pepper. Next time, I'll work out before lunch and I'll say yes to the cheese! They offer Otis Spunkmeyer cookies - the best - and a ton of chip options. A friend of ours also got the tuna and provolone and ate every bit of it. Friendly service. Clean restaurant. Amazing food. I was tipped off by someone that this was their favorite cheesesteak place. It was fine, but I was not at all wowed. There were a few troubling signs I observed as I waited for my order. First, they cook the steak from frozen blocks, rather than from fresh thin-cut ribeyes. Also, the onions are semi pre-cooked, and added to the frozen meat mixed at about the halfway point of cooking. In addition, they add provolone cheese rather than the traditional cheese wiz on the sandwiches. All of these make for a less than ideal flavor. It was an OK sandwich, but more similar to a mall food court cheesesteak than a Philly original in my opinion. There are better Hampton Roads cheesesteaks. Two and a half stars. read more

This is a very disappointing review to post. I love the food here which is why it makes me so sad to post this. When they do get my order right everything is amazing. But sadly that's only happened a handful of times. I messed up on my order today. When I called and said I received the wrong order it's almost like the woman I was speaking to did not want to help me. Instead of just apologizing that my online ordering experience was confusing to me and that they would fix my order for me she wanted to tell me how I did it wrong. She went silent while on the phone with me and when I asked if she was still there got an attitude telling me she was trying to put my order in. I'm sorry I can't see you through the phone and know what you are doing. She could have easily told me to hold on while she was fixing everything for me. I thoroughly enjoyed this visit here. There is one on great neck which I think is the older of the two. This location is quietly tucked in the red mill commons of Virginia Beach. The staff was great and energetic from order to pick up. I'm a cheesesteak lover, these are one of my favorite quick meals of choice. So I'm very particular on the quality of it. I ordered the original cheesesteak with onions and sweet peppers. It was the 10 inch sub. They toasted all of the bread which is really good! You can actually watch them make it right there. It was a delicious cheesesteak for sure. Even the next day it was still good after being put in the fridge. The prices are a slightly high considering its competitors but the quality is grade A. Disappointed again. My husband religiously patronizes weekly and some times more frequently. Each year since opening he spends in excess of $2000 per year there, and always recommends this location. Recently, he was out of town and told me about a special they were having, buy one get one. I started calling to place my order the phone was never answered, so I headed to the store because my husband thought they were open until 9, with the grill closing at 8:30. When I got there at 7:34, I was told it closed at 7:30. I shared the loyalty of my husband and asked if there was anyway I could order, mind you they were still cooking, with about 8 people waiting for their order. I told the order taker to share who my husband was and how much of a loyal customer he was, the manager still said no. The food here is great. But, I am continually disappointed by the service. The inside was cute and inline with the beach area and the music was great. However, it took over 20 minutes for us to get two shorty subs as the only eat in customers. It should not have taken that long to get 2 philly subs. They didn't have any pickups or call ins while we were there, not sure why it took so long. read more
